Mixed Experiences with Fire Mountain Gems & Beads Inc
As someone deeply passionate about jewelry making and beadwork, I understand the allure of Fire Mountain Gems & Beads Inc. The reviews paint a varied picture - from tales of exceptional customer service and quality products to disappointing experiences with misleading product presentations and unsatisfactory returns policies. It seems like a place where you might find hidden gems but also encounter some rough stones along the way. If you're willing to navigate through potential challenges, Fire Mountain Gems & Beads Inc could still be a treasure trove waiting to be explored.
I ordered from three different bead stores on the same
I ordered from three different bead stores on the same day. Fire Mountain Gems provided great service, quick shipping, and a free gift and sale catalog with the order. Simple things can make a huge difference, and these guys get it right. I'm still waiting on an order from one of the other bead stores (over a week has passed), so I plan to give my future business to firemountaingems.com without hesitation. Stay away from Beadaholique (poor service, slow shipping with confusing shipping notification, and at least a two day wait for any response from customer service - horrible), and shop at firemountaingems instead. You'll be happy you did.
Can't beat their sales!
I have no idea about these other women claiming they lost thousands of dollars at FMG. Doesn't sound accurate or True if you ask me. Moving on, personally I love them! I visit their website everyday. They have new sales any day of the week and can come and go at any time so you always have to be watching! That's what everyone needs to know about this site. Best advice visit every single day twice a day even and ONLY buy from their sales and only buy less than 10 pounds to get the $5.99 shipping rate. Buy lots of the same stuff in bulk and sell it off fast for triple fast! So easy a kid can do it. Your welcome! Now everyone quit your BITC***N ALREADY!
A Little Expensive. BUT
I have shopped with several bead and finding businesses because I'm always looking for the next good deal... and I ALWAYS go back to Fire Mountain Gems out of Oregon. You have options of picking the amount of silver and gold in your findings and metal beads, and the gemstones are graded by quality, which is a feature i really like because it makes me responsible for the kind of finished product I sell. They offer so many tutorials and examples of the kind of beading projects most people like to do and it changes all the time. The selection of beads and related support items is fabulous and the customer service is very very good. I am usually not in any particular rush to receive items i order and just go with their recommended shipping mode which is the "slowest". In my experience i receive my order in 4 to 5 days.
Ok, honestly?
Ok, honestly? I cannot find anything wrong with this website. First of all, it has to be the most popular bead/jewelry making supplies website on the Internet. Second, it has literally EVERYTHING you can think of related to jewelry making. Also, they offer discounts if you buy in bulk. The site is very easy to navigate and you quickly find what you're searching for. Their customer service is excellent, they ship FAST, and even include a free gift with your order! Everything is always packed neatly also. I get the Mystery Bags on there a lot for $10 and am never disappointed with the variety of goodies I receive! The site also has a gallery of designs, beading instructions, and a return policy that states 100% refund, no time limit, no questions asked. I've never had to return anything but from my experiences on the site I wouldnt doubt the credibility for a second.
This business has steadily gone downhill
This business has steadily gone downhill. Customer service takes forever Advertised specials have web addresses that don't work. And, prices are inflated to make you think you are getting a good deal when you buy more. They are also one of the last stores to stock modern and new beads. They also sell many crappy items, then blame the customer for buying the "not-so-good" items. Why stock this stuff then? I rarely shop there anymore. It is always the same junk on sale.
I will no longer buy from **** Mountain
I will no longer buy from *** Mountain. Their computer system clearly allows you to add items to an existing order that hasn't been shipped yet, but when you do that, they ignore it and ship it anyway. Then, they create a new order that duplicates your initial order and add your new items to it, so they can sell you more beads than you actually want and charge you extra for shipping. Many years ago, I received a gift certificate that I never used and it just stayed in a drawer. When I tried to use it recently, they told me it had already been redeemed in 2007. I asked them to which address it had been sent, and they said it was sent to my current address (I moved here in 2020). I also asked them who redeemed it, and they said it was my husband and that I should talk to him. However, my husband knows nothing about beads, and I am certain that he never redeemed it.
Great company
Great company. They do not serm to have a system that makes up information or populates extta orders. They do save your cart which is great if you ever belonged to a site and forgot to log in before you started shopping. You log in and all prior items are gone. Your cart says "empty".. Grrr. That is infuriating. So fire mountain has a system that says "" you have multiple existing carts. Do you want to combine them"?... Uhhh yes please. The way the cart shows multiple pages when checking out may be missed if you dont pay attention but, like shopping in a store, u have to be aware of things happening. Their customer service is amazing with a lost package i had issues with and "ask the experts" is the best thing ever. When i first saw a technique i didnt know they emailed me though it and when i wantedTo know how to make crystals stronger and trust crimp beads, they shared secrets... Then they have break downs of sizes of wires, crimp, string... All that confusing mumbo-jumbo but in a way to understand. They even teach equations to come up with figures. And they send me an old fashion shopping catalog every few months which is cool for people not comfortable shopping online but my 3 yr old looks forward to seeing mommu new work magazine.. Which actually buys me a few life mins. Also appreciated. I cant say enough about this company.
Disappointed with Fire Mountain Gems' Sterling Silver Chain Quality
I've been a loyal customer of Fire Mountain Gems for quite some time now. I have to say that I'm quite disappointed with the recent purchase I made from them. I usually purchase a particular style of chain from them, which is my go-to chain for my jewelry making. However, the last four rolls of chain that I received from them were supposed to be sterling silver, but they turned out to be completely yellow. I tried cleaning them with sterling silver paste and a toothbrush, but it didn't work.
I'm currently in the process of seeing if they will correct this issue. I have no idea how many pieces of jewelry I've made with this defective chain. I have to replace all my existing merchandise with new chain that I know is of the quality that I put out. It's quite frustrating, especially since I'm disabled and I make this jewelry to raise money for my medical treatment for my extremely rare disease.
I'm livid! They will be hearing from me tomorrow morning again. If they do not refund my money, I will dispute the charges. I will report them to the BBB. I will do whatever I can to make sure that they don't take advantage of anyone else in this way. Not only has it cost me potentially thousands of dollars, but it can also give me a bad reputation for putting out stuff that is not the quality that I say it is.
I'm devastated. I hope they can fix this issue soon. I've always trusted Fire Mountain Gems for their quality products, but this recent experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope they can make it right.
Fire Mountain Gems' Deceptive Pricing Practices: A Warning to Small Home Jewelers
I recently received a catalog from Fire Mountain Gems and was excited to see all the beautiful beads and jewelry-making supplies they had to offer. However, when I tried to place an order, I was shocked to see that the prices were much higher than what was listed in the catalog. I was told that the catalog was for reference only and that the prices were incorrect. How can they get away with that?
To make matters worse, in order to get decent prices on items, you have to buy a minimum of 50 items. This means that you may end up buying things you don't even need just to meet the minimum requirement. It's frustrating and seems like a ploy to get customers to spend more money.
But what really bothers me is the fact that Fire Mountain Gems would intentionally mislead their customers. As a small home jeweler, I rely on accurate pricing information to determine the cost of my jewelry. If I quote a price based on the catalog and then have to go back and tell my customers that the price is actually higher, it makes me look unprofessional and unreliable. And if I choose to stick with the original price, I end up losing money. It's a lose-lose situation.
It's disappointing to see a company that would put their customers in such a position. It's not fair and it's not right. I believe that we should all boycott Fire Mountain Gems until they change their practices. It's time for them to be held accountable for their actions.
In conclusion, I would not recommend doing business with Fire Mountain Gems. Their deceptive pricing practices and minimum order requirements make it difficult for small home jewelers to do business with them. It's time for them to make a change and treat their customers with the respect they deserve.
FireMountainGems Review: Great Variety and Fast Shipping, but Be Selective with Products
FireMountainGems is a great website for all your beading needs. The shipping is really fast, which is a huge plus. The variety of products they offer is amazing. You can find products that range from low to high prices and quality. I have ordered from them three times now, and I have to say that you have to be really selective when choosing your products. For instance, on my first order, I ordered some Grade C gemstones because they were cheap. However, after receiving them, I realized that they looked cheap and some of the stones could not be used.
In my experience, FireMountainGems does not make false claims, and their pricing is competitive when compared to most beading sites. I have not received any faulty products from them. However, they do compromise quality for prices. When getting higher quality products, the prices may actually be as expensive as that of other sites. I have found better and cheaper pearls on Etsy and Jewelrysupply.com.
Most of their products come from China, and occasionally India. Metal products also seem to contain lead/nickel, but all this information is presented very ambiguously.
I may order from them again, although the probability of that happening has been reduced by their new shipping policy. Overall, FireMountainGems is a great website for all your beading needs. Just be sure to be selective when choosing your products. The C grade potato pearls shown in the attached photo look okay.
Fire Mountain Gems: Your One-Stop Shop for Quality Jewelry-Making Supplies
Fire Mountain Gems is a great place to shop for all your jewelry-making needs. Their website is super easy to use and you can easily find what you're looking for. The quality of their products is top-notch and if you're not satisfied with your purchase, they make returns a breeze.
One thing that sets Fire Mountain Gems apart from other suppliers is their pricing scale. Discounts are based on the number of items you buy, not the retail value. This means that you can get great deals on even their C and D quality gemstones. There are four prices for most items: a base price, a discount if you buy at least 15 items in your order (any item - it doesn't have to be 15 of the same product), a deeper discount for 50 items, and the deepest discount for 100. If you're patient, you can wait to place a large order to qualify for the best discount. If you're within 20 items or so, just sort the site by price and you can usually find something for $1 and just buy 20. That extra $20 has saved me hundreds off my total price in the past.
Fire Mountain Gems also offers lots of great, free advice on their website, including a fairly comprehensive "EncycloBEADia." Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and they will spend time, via phone or online chat, to help with design and product selection.
Overall, Fire Mountain Gems is a reliable supplier for my small jewelry business. They have a great selection of products, their website is easy to use, and their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality jewelry-making supplies.
Disappointing Experience with Fire Mountain Gems: Incorrect Product and Poor Customer Service
I recently made a purchase from Fire Mountain Gems and was disappointed with the product I received. I had ordered fire crackle beads in the color red agate, but instead received brown fire crackle beads. I was confused as to why the color was different from what was advertised in the title description.
When I contacted customer service, I was met with a less than helpful response. The representative told me that the color variation was normal and that I could try scrolling down further to find what I wanted. I even sent in pictures and pointed out that the two items had different numbers, but still, they insisted that it was not their fault.
I felt like my concerns were not being taken seriously and that I was not valued as a customer. When I asked what they could do to fix my order and make me happy, they offered nothing except for the option to return the brown beads and try again. However, I didn't see the point in doing so if I was just going to receive the same incorrect product again.
It was frustrating to feel like I was being blamed for their mistake. The customer service representative and her supervisor seemed more concerned with proving me wrong than finding a solution to my problem. I was left feeling disgusted with the priorities of this company and will not be giving them my business again.
Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with Fire Mountain Gems. The lack of concern for my issue and the dismissive attitude of the customer service representative left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope that they can improve their customer service in the future to prevent other customers from having similar experiences.
Fire Mountain Gems' Dishonest Return Policy Change: Customers Beware!
This company, Fire Mountain Gems, has recently made a change to their return policy that has left many customers feeling cheated. The change was made in December of 2016 and affects anyone who made purchases more than 90 days prior to the change. The company is now claiming that these customers no longer have the right to return their purchases. This is a clear violation of the contract that was entered into when the purchases were made, as customers relied on the original return policy when making their purchases.
This kind of behavior is downright disgusting and totally dishonest. It is a deceptive business practice that is prohibited by consumer protection statutes in all states. Customers who have been affected by this change should file a complaint with the Oregon Department of Justice, Consumer Protection. This will trigger an investigation into the company's practices and should allow customers to make their returns.
In fact, this could even lead to a class action case against the company. It is important that customers do not let Fire Mountain Gems get away with this kind of behavior. When enough people start complaining, the Oregon Attorney General may step in and take action against these criminals.
As someone who has seen a lot of despicable behavior by businesses over the years, I can say that this is one of the worst. To revise a return policy retroactively after countless people made purchases based on the original policy is just unacceptable. If you want a copy of the original return policy to include with your complaint, you can write to me at [protected]@gmail.com. This is a disposable address that will be closed at some point, so please act quickly.
Review of Fire Mountain Gems: High Prices and Shipping Fees
I spent a good chunk of time browsing through Fire Mountain Gems' website, looking at all the different beads and charms they had to offer. I even added a few items to my cart to compare prices later on. However, I did notice that their prices were a bit higher than what I was used to paying. So, I decided to take a closer look at my shopping cart and see if I really needed everything I had added.
To my surprise, I found that Fire Mountain Gems had a nifty feature that tallied up the items in my cart and even calculated the tax for me. I also noticed that under the "shipping" section, it said "N/A". At first, I thought this meant "Non-Applicable", but upon further inspection, I realized that it meant "Not Available". This made me curious to see what else Fire Mountain Gems had to offer, so I spent another 10-20 minutes browsing through their website and jotting down item numbers for future reference.
Eventually, I decided to purchase two silver charms that I planned to inlay into a wood staff I had been working on. I clicked on the Paypal option, unchecked their newsletter and catalogue, and confirmed my shipping address. However, when I was redirected to Paypal and signed in, I noticed that there was a $5.99 shipping charge. This seemed a bit steep to me, especially since the charms were flat and lightweight. I could easily put them in a zip baggie, staple them to a piece of cardboard, and send them in a standard envelope for only $0.50. So, I cancelled my order and went back to Fire Mountain Gems' website.
I was a bit frustrated by their shipping fee ploy, but I understand that they are a business and need to make a profit. However, I do think that their prices are a bit high for hobbyists like myself. If you're a professional looking to buy wholesale, then Fire Mountain Gems might be a good option for you. But if you're like me and just looking for some affordable beads and charms, then you might want to check out other websites like Pandahall, Alibaba, Indiamart, or Global Sources. They might have better prices and even offer free shipping!
Fire Mountain Gems: Great Customer Service and Quality Products
Customer Service Experience:
I gotta say, my experience with Fire Mountain Gems has been pretty awesome. The peeps I've chatted with have been super helpful in finding what I need, comparing products, and even sorting out a tax exempt form for the school I work at. And get this, they're real people! I know, crazy right? If I ever need to call them up, I know I'll be talking to a real human being too.
The product:
I've been loving everything I've ordered from FMG. But here's the thing, I've done my research. And you should too. If you're after a specific gemstone, check out its Mohs hardness level. Think about whether it's a good fit for the item you're making. FMG is part of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA), which means they follow some seriously strict requirements when it comes to where they source their gems from, how they trade them, and how they label them online. So you can trust that they're doing things right. Sure, some of their stuff comes from China, but that's where the gemstones are mined from. And they're following the Code of Ethics set by AGTA (https://agta.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/AGTA-COE-2016.pdf).
Couple more things to keep in mind about the items. The photos on their website are done by pros in a studio with some killer lighting. So the colors might look a bit different in real life. And when it comes to gemstones, the colors can vary quite a bit. That's just how they roll. If you want more consistency, go for glass or plastic.
My final point... return policy:
Stuff can get damaged in shipping, right? So make sure you read the return policy for every company you shop with. FMG's policy is pretty clear (https://www.firemountaingems.com/customerservice/returns?navsrc=foot_ReturnsandExchanges). If you're not down with it, then don't shop with them.
All in all, do your research, read the policies, and you'll be good to go with FMG. I haven't been disappointed yet!
Disappointed with Fire Mountain Gems' Changed Return Policy and Lack of Customer Service
I've been buying from Fire Mountain Gems for more than 25 years now, but I'm afraid I won't be able to support them anymore. They used to have a great return and exchange policy, but it seems like that's not the case anymore. I called them three weeks ago to request copies of my invoices from 2016 so that I could make a return. I only received the invoices last week and packed the return according to their instructions. I sent it via priority mail, but today I received a message from their returns department saying that they were going to send my package back to me because their return policy had changed three weeks ago. I wasn't informed of any policy changes when I requested the invoices, so I'm guessing that the policy hadn't actually changed yet.
When I spoke to a supervisor at Fire Mountain Gems to express my disappointment and anger, I was told that the owner had made the change and that there was nothing they could do. They didn't even give me a number to call to speak directly to the owner or leave a message. The only option they gave me was to send a letter to the owner, but even then, there was no guarantee that my complaint would be heard. I'm now stuck with a lot of expensive Swarovski beads that I can't use, and my personal jewelry business will suffer as a result. It's frustrating to think that my 25+ years of loyal support and thousands of dollars spent over those years account for nothing.
I can't recommend this company anymore. They weren't honest with me, and they cost me money and left me with a problem that resulted in a direct loss of money for my jewelry business. They're also expensive, and you can find Swarovski beads for much cheaper online through other companies. The only reason I continued to buy from them was because I had been a loyal customer for so long. However, I stopped buying strands of gemstones, pearls, and sterling silver years ago because of the poor quality and overpricing. It's a shame that Fire Mountain Gems has changed so much over the years, and I hope that they take their customers' concerns seriously.
Reliable and Affordable Beads: My Experience with Fire Mountain Gems
I gotta say, I'm pretty surprised by some of the bad reviews I've seen for Fire Mountain Gems. I've been ordering from them for about 3 years now, and I've never had a problem that they didn't fix right away and with a smile.
I'm a beader, mostly into bead weaving, and I recently started a little jewelry business. It's really important to me to have a reliable source of high-quality beads and findings, so I can keep my prices reasonable but still make a little profit. FMG is perfect for me - I get great prices and great quality. I'd say I get about 65-75% of my materials from them.
I've had to return things twice - once I sent back some acrylic beads that looked good on the site but were really cheap-looking in person. Returning them was easy, although I did have to pay for shipping. The second time, I ordered toggle clasps and accidentally got a pack of 5 instead of just one. I ended up with 30 instead of 6! But FMG was super cool about it and said just to send them back. I was worried that I wouldn't get the discount I'd qualified for (100+ items), but they said it was no problem as long as I wasn't trying to game the system. (They were really nice about it, not snarky or anything - it's hard to convey tone in writing!)
When you get to the highest discount level, their prices are way better than anything else I've found in North America. I'm always a little nervous about ordering from China, so I just find $1 items and buy enough to get the 100+ discount. I've saved over $200 on my total order by doing that. They also have great sales all the time.
I've been really happy with the quality of everything I've gotten from them. I got a bunch of 9mm white freshwater pearls on sale once, and they were absolutely gorgeous. I buy seed beads, pearls, semi-precious stones, sterling silver, clasps and findings, and Fireline from them all the time. They have some really pretty Cloisonn? beads too, although they don't have a ton of silver-trimmed ones.
I don't usually buy their bead mixes because they sometimes mix genuine stones with imitation ones, which doesn't really fit with my brand. I also avoid their mystery bags for the same reason.
The website isn't perfect, but it's got the best search and filter functions I've seen on a bead site. You can search by keywords or browse by category, and then you can filter by things like stringing length, brand, material, bead shape, and finish.
My only "complaint" is that they change up their product mix pretty often, so sometimes I can't reorder beads that I really loved. But that's not really their fault, and it keeps things interesting!

I sent back four items, including some made of sterling silver, in their original packaging and followed all the rules
I sent back four items, including some made of sterling silver, in their original packaging and followed all the rules and instructions. I paid for the return shipping myself. The total value of the items was over $38, but I only received $4.97 as a refund. I contacted Fire Mountain Gems customer service and spoke to a representative named ***. She informed me that they had no record of my return, despite the fact that I had received an email confirming its receipt. I also confirmed with *** that they had received my return items earlier that morning.
Disappointing Experience with Fire Mountain Gems: Poor Packaging, Defective Items, and High Prices
I've been a loyal customer of Fire Mountain Gems since 2005, and for the most part, I've been pretty happy with their service. However, about two years ago, things started to go downhill. The packaging of my orders became poor, with beads coming loose and separating from their strings. I also received some defective items that were unusable. To make matters worse, I never received any gifts with my orders, and some of the items I received didn't match their descriptions.
But the worst part of it all was the prices. I was shocked and surprised to see how much they had increased over the years. For example, I purchased a polyester twine cord for $11.59, only to find out two months later that it was now on sale for $2.33. That's an 80% discount! I couldn't believe it, and there was no alert or notification of any sales or discounts. When I contacted them by email (I'm an international customer), they simply replied, "Please be aware that we allow to change the prices up and down greatly." I didn't accept this explanation, and I lost faith in their pricing policies.
As a result, I decided to stop working with Fire Mountain Gems. It's a shame, because I had been a loyal customer for so long, but the poor packaging, defective items, and high prices were just too much for me to handle. I hope they can improve their service in the future, but for now, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
Mixed Experiences with Fire Mountain Gems: Great Products, Poor Packaging and Shipping, and Frustrating Return Policy
I've ordered from Fire Mountain Gems a few times now and I have to say, I've had some mixed experiences. While I've been able to find some really great items on their website, I've also had a few issues with the packaging and shipping of my orders.
On a couple of occasions, I've received items that were damaged due to poor packaging. For example, I ordered some beads and when they arrived, several of them were cracked or crushed. It was really disappointing because I had been looking forward to using those beads in a project. Another time, I ordered a mixed cabochon kit and it was packaged so poorly that it arrived opened and scattered throughout the envelope. This not only damaged the cabochons, but it also crushed some of my headpins and beads in accompanying strands.
One thing that I find frustrating about Fire Mountain Gems is that some items are only available in a range of sizes. This makes it really hard to plan any kind of design because you don't know what size you'll actually receive until the item arrives. It would be much better if they could provide more detailed information about the sizes available.
Another issue I have with Fire Mountain Gems is their return policy. Even if an item arrives damaged, you have to pay for the return shipping. This just seems wrong to me. After a few times of keeping damaged items rather than paying to return them (which wouldn't have made sense financially), I've decided that I won't order from Fire Mountain Gems again unless they are the only choice for ordering a particular item.
Overall, I think Fire Mountain Gems has some great products, but their packaging and shipping could use some improvement. If they could address these issues and improve their return policy, I would be much more likely to order from them again.

Disappointed with Fire Mountain Gems: Poor Quality and Unfair Refund Policy
and I suggest that you don't either.
I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with Fire Mountain Gems. I used to love shopping on their website, but lately, it seems like they're selling a lot of junk. I mean, I ordered this thing that was supposed to be brand new, but when I got it, it didn't work at all. Like, not even a little bit. So I sent it back to them, and they did give me my money back, but they wouldn't refund the shipping cost. So basically, I paid to get a broken thing, and then I paid again to send it back to them. That's not cool, man.
And it's not just that one thing, either. I got a couple other items from them that were just straight-up garbage. Like, they were so cheaply made that I could tell they were gonna fall apart as soon as I took them out of the package. I didn't even bother sending those back, because it wasn't worth the hassle.
Honestly, I don't think I'll ever shop at Fire Mountain Gems again. It's just not worth the risk of getting more crappy products. I'd rather spend my money somewhere else, where I know I'm gonna get good stuff. So if you're thinking about buying something from them, I'd say think twice. There are plenty of other places to get jewelry-making supplies that won't rip you off.
Fire Mountain Gems' New Return Policy: A Loyal Customer's Disappointment
I gotta say, I'm pretty ticked off about Fire Mountain Gems' new return policy. I used to love this company, they were my go-to for all my jewelry making needs. But now, they've gone and changed their policy without any warning or heads up. And get this, they even went back and changed it for past orders too! That's just not right.
I've been a loyal customer of Fire Mountain Gems since 2011, and I've made over 100 orders from them. I'm what they call a Platinum Customer, which means I spend over $10,000 a year on their products. That's a lot of dough, if you ask me.
Over the years, I've built up quite the collection of their items for all my jewelry making projects. But now, with this new policy, I'm stuck with all this stuff that I can't return. I first found out about the change in March 2017, when I got an email from Claudia in the Platinum Department. Apparently, the policy had been changed back in December 2016, but they didn't bother to tell anyone until months later.
So now, I'm out about $6,000 worth of merchandise that I can't return. And to make matters worse, I don't think I want to do business with Fire Mountain Gems anymore. I mean, if they're going to change their policies without any warning or explanation, who knows what else they might do?
I'm definitely going to file a complaint with the State of Oregon Department of Justice. This just isn't right, and I think other customers should know about it too. So if you're thinking about doing business with Fire Mountain Gems, you might want to think twice.
Disappointing Experience with Fire Mountain Gems: Inaccurate Sizes and Unhelpful Customer Support
I recently made a purchase from Fire Mountain Gems and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with my experience. I ordered a total of 7 items, but unfortunately, 4 of them were much smaller than what was listed on the website. I tried to get some help from their chat support, but the agent I spoke with was not very helpful at all. They kept telling me that the dimensions listed on the website are just a general guideline and that not all items will be the same size. Well, obviously I know that, I'm not stupid!
I tried to explain to the agent that I had measured the beads with a ruler and they were clearly smaller than what was listed as the minimum size on the website. But the agent just kept insisting that the only way to measure the beads accurately was with calipers. I mean, come on, who has calipers just lying around?
The worst part was when I received a string of beads that were supposed to be 12mm x 8mm, but not a single one measured above 7mm x 8mm. The minimum size listed on the website for that size bead was 9mm x 7mm, so you can imagine my disappointment.
Now, I will say that the other 3 items I purchased were great and were within the expected size range. But those 4 items that were undersized really put a damper on my experience. And to top it off, the customer chat support was insulting and useless.
So, if you decide to shop with Fire Mountain Gems, just be aware that they have a very generous idea of what they consider an acceptable range of sizes. If you go in with that knowledge, you won't be left feeling angry and disappointed like I was.
Fire Mountain Gems: False Advertising and Poor Customer Service
I've gotta say, I've ordered from Fire Mountain Gems twice now. The first time was pretty good, everything looked like the pictures and seemed like it was all natural like they said. So I figured I'd give 'em another shot and ordered some more stuff. But let me tell you, I got my order today and I am so disappointed. Everything I ordered was supposed to be natural, but it's obviously glass! Like, come on, it's so obvious!
So I called up customer service to let 'em know what was up, and at first they said it was a mistake. But when I told 'em that everything was glass, they said it couldn't have been a mistake. Their only solution was for me to send the beads back and they'd check 'em out to see if I got the wrong stuff. And get this, they don't even refund the shipping! Like, seriously? I'm not gonna pay to send this stuff back just to be told that it's natural.
Honestly, this company thinks we're all idiots and they're just taking advantage of small businesses. I'm never ordering from them again, that's for sure.
Poor Quality Torch and Lacking Customer Service from Fire Mountain Gems
I recently got my hands on a beginner metal clay kit from Fire Mountain Gems, and I was excited to try it out. However, after only a few uses, the butane torch that came with the kit started acting up. It wouldn't turn off properly, and I had to use a screwdriver to pry up the off button. This was pretty scary, especially since the torch can reach temperatures of around 1400 degrees.
I decided to give Fire Mountain Gems a call to see if they could help me out. I asked if they could exchange the torch or give me a refund, but they said they couldn't do either. Apparently, since the torch was part of a kit and I had already used some of the metal clay, they couldn't give me a refund. And if I wanted to exchange the torch, they would have to test all of their torches in stock, which would take about two weeks.
I was pretty disappointed with this response. I mean, the torch worked fine the first couple of times I used it, but then it just stopped working properly. And it's not like I was asking for a refund on the whole kit - just the faulty torch. Plus, the fact that the torch has the potential to cause bodily injury and is a fire hazard makes this even more concerning.
Overall, I think the quality of the torch was poor, and the customer service I received was lacking. It's frustrating to spend money on something that doesn't work properly, and then not be able to get any help from the company that sold it to you. I wouldn't recommend buying this kit from Fire Mountain Gems, and I'll definitely be looking elsewhere for my crafting supplies in the future.
Affordable Beads and Jewelry Making Supplies: FMG Review
FMG is a great place to shop for beads and jewelry making supplies. Their prices are really good, and I was impressed with the selection of products they offer. I made my first order and was so excited to receive it. I was so happy with my purchase that I ended up making another order right away. I know I can be impulsive sometimes, but I just couldn't resist.
However, I was a bit disappointed with some of the beads I received in my first order. Some of them were poorly made and not up to my standards. I had to toss some of the fake pearls because they were discolored and had extra plastic on the sides. It looked like the molds were dirty or something. But, the crystal beads I bought were really good. I also bought some cheap "fashion beads" that I knew weren't going to be amazing, but they were usable for practice.
Most of the products I received were made in China, which isn't a huge deal for me, but I did notice that they weren't the best quality. However, all of the cabochons were nice and very usable. Thankfully, my second order was mostly comprised of cabochons.
Overall, I think FMG is a great place to shop for cheap beads. I may order from them again in the future, but I will be more selective about what I buy. I recommend checking them out if you're looking for affordable jewelry making supplies.
Mixed Feelings: My Experience with Firemountain Gems
I've been shopping with Firemountain for a good 6 years now and I gotta say, I've noticed a few issues with my past 2-3 orders that take the rating of this reasonably good company down. Don't get me wrong, I love the selection, but I feel the customer service and quality is lacking.
My chief problems are as follows: firstly, what you see pictured does not match what you ordered. I mean, come on, there have been significant differences between photos and what I have received. This has happened on 4 separate occasions. It's a real bummer when you're expecting one thing and you get something completely different.
Secondly, customer support. I have contacted customer support regarding items I have previously ordered that they no longer stock and when I asked where I could source the items now (since the manufacturer does continue to make them), I have received no response at all. I mean, what's up with that? I need answers, people!
Lastly, items I order that are listed as in stock are shipped after the initial shipment and have taken as long as 3 weeks to reach me. This has happened at least 3-4 times in the past year. I mean, I get it, things happen, but come on, guys, let's get it together.
While I may order from them again, I am currently looking into more reliable suppliers to replace this company. I mean, I love the selection, but if I can't rely on them to get my orders right and on time, what's the point?
Disappointing Quality and Limited Selection at Fire Mountain Gems
I gotta say, I was a little disappointed with Fire Mountain Gems. I mean, don't get me wrong, they're not terrible or anything, but they could definitely do better. For one thing, they don't carry the color bead I need. I asked them about it, and they said they couldn't get it for me. I don't know why, but I was able to find it at another bead supplier, so I don't see why FMG couldn't get it too. I mean, I would have ordered thousands of those beads every year, so it's not like it wouldn't have been worth it for them.
Anyway, I ended up just getting some 8mm white glass pearls from them instead. They arrived in about a week, which was pretty good. But the quality wasn't as good as I was hoping for. I had to throw away about 4-6 beads per strand of about 57 beads. But I didn't complain, because the strand was only supposed to have 50 beads, so the defective beads didn't really affect my overall total. Still, some of the beads had scratches, poor color coating, and incorrect sizes. Some of them were only 6mm instead of 8mm. And to top it off, they were from China and had a really strong chemical smell. Not great.
On the plus side, the price was about the same as what I would have paid at my local craft store, but I was able to buy larger quantities from FMG, which was a lot easier than going to a bunch of different stores. So I guess it's not all bad. But still, I wish they could have done better with the quality of the beads. And it would have been nice if they could have gotten me the color I needed. Oh well, I guess you can't win 'em all.
I was extremely disappointed
I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Firemountaingems and I will never buy from them again!
I bought several items and later received a notification stating that they were not able to deliver my order (they didn't explain the reason) and said that I will get a full refund. Next time they said that refund was impossible and offered me to make another order and when I did they stopped replying. I got nothing but trouble and headache and after all the hassle I received nothing!
Please don't deal with this company, they are very unprofessional. I keep sending them messages but it seems like no one is planning to reply. Avoid!
Don't deal with them!
I received wrong item and I want to get a replacement, but they don't want to do anything. When I received my item and saw that it was incorrect I contacted FireMountainGems support service and provided all the necessary information. They said that someone will contact me back as soon as they decided what to do and when they finally called me back they said that they were not able to help me. Are you kidding me? I'm a frequent online shopper and I'm quite familiar with how return and exchange system works! I am disappointed with this site and will never deal with them again!
Real cheaters!
I have purchased an item from this website and was shocked with the terrible quality of my order! I contacted FireMountainGems support service and they refused to refund my money. These people sell very low quality items and steal customers money. Don't buy from them.
I contacted them many times but they said no over and over again. Later they just stopped answering! These people are real cheaters!
Misrepresented products
I received my products and everything was broken and defective. They offered me a refund and told that I have to send everything back. I did as they said and shipped everything back at my own expense. Few weeks later contacted FireMountainGems and asked about my refund and they said that they did not receive anything back yet and asked me to be patient. Another week passed and I was told the same thing again. Called the shipping company and they confirmed that FireMountainGems did received the package. These guys from FireMountainGems are real liars, they keep telling me that they got nothing and refuse to refund me!
Poor quality item, poor customer service
I recently purchased a beginner metal clay kit from Fire Mountain Gems. After only 4-5 uses, the butane torch that came with the kit will not work correctly. In order to turn it off, I now have to use a screwdriver to pry up the off button. This tends to be a little scary while holding a lit 1400 degree or so torch. I called Fire Mountain Gems to see if they would exchange the torch or refund it. They said they can't refund it because it was part of a kit, and I've used the metal clay out of the kit. In order to exchange it, they said they would need to test all of their torches in stock, which would take approximately two weeks, and that they would get back to me. The torch worked fine the first two times I used it, but failed after only two uses. I feel this is an unacceptable response on something that is an equipment failure issue, and the equipment failure has the potential to cause bodily injury and is a fire hazard. Poor quality item, poor customer service.
I worked for the website www.firemountaingems.com, and once I decided to buy cotton thread from them. I paid for it about $15, but after several months, when I worked in warehouse, I found the same thread, which cost only $3. The company fooled and scammed not only customers, but employees as well. So don’t buy from them and post comments if you have the similar situation with these frauds.
I am also disappointed with the quality of the items that I received. Some clasps broke as I was fixing them on the jewelry, the rest looked substandard at best. I did not know I would receive so many unusable "Made in China" items. I wish I had asked the right questions before. Oh well. Lesson learned.
i totally agree on their poor quality. I purchases some wrapping wire that was supposed to be soft and pliable. But it is so brittle it breaks every few inches. When I asked for a replacement, they said no...as if I was asking for something quite outrageous. Not only that, but I had to pay 26 bucks for shipping to get it here. I won't buy from them ever again.
