We paid for 1 year of paper delivery & we haven't got a paper in 10 days
We paid for 1 year of paper delivery & we haven't got a paper in 10 days. We called customer service every day with no satisfaction.
Not gettin' my paper
Not gettin' my paper. Keep gettin' some 1-800 place that takes complaint and says they gonna request the local calls you. Ask but no one does. Payin' for a paper that don't come.
I've been gettin' the Peoria journal star on the weekends for like 40 years now
I've been gettin' the Peoria journal star on the weekends for like 40 years now. We've always been loyal and satisfied customers, but gotta say, the delivery service in the past 2 years has been a real headache. We've asked 'em multiple times to bring the paper in the mornin', but they just ain't listenin'. And now, to top it all off, the paper carrier won't even leave it on our porch, even though we've specifically asked customer service to tell 'em to do so. It's just plain frustratin', ya know?
My folks been waitin' since April for a refund of $285.55
My folks been waitin' since April for a refund of $285.55. They was told the check is in the mail and they should get it in 6 weeks. Two weeks ago they were told they gonna get the $285.55 in less than 2 weeks. They never got it. We drove to the Journal Star and nobody came to the door. I called from their parkin' lot and was told nobody was there. They all work from home. We askin' for help from the ComplaintsBoard.com. No company should be able to treat customers like this and get away with it.
The price they charge for the subscription depends on how long you've been a subscriber
The price they charge for the subscription depends on how long you've been a subscriber. My mom, who's 90 years old and has been a subscriber for 60 years, pays 1200 bucks a year for the paper to be delivered every day. Me, I've been a subscriber for 40 years, and they charge me 600 bucks a year for the same thing. I guess they figure if you agreed to pay last year's price, you'll just keep paying it with a little increase this year. That's not good business. They should charge everyone the same, no matter how long you've been a subscriber. It's like they're punishing loyalty. It's ridiculous!
I called on 03/30 to renew my subscription for one year
I called on 03/30 to renew my subscription for one year. I paid $260.00 and they said it would end on 04/11/23. But when I checked my account online yesterday, it showed the end date as 03/23/23. So I called the 800 number and they said the earlier date was right because of something called "premium editions." I don't even know what that means and they didn't tell me about it when I called last week. All they said was that my subscription was good until 04/11/23. So I had to figure all this out myself and then cancel the premium editions to get the correct end date of April 11. And on top of that, they don't even give you a full year because there's no paper on 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, or 1/1. If you think you paid for a full year, I suggest you check your subscription end date because it's gonna be a couple of weeks earlier than you thought.

I checked out Gannett Company, Inc
I checked out Gannett Company, Inc. website (http://www.myusatodaynetwork.com/) and I gotta say, it's pretty cool. They got all kinds of news and stuff. I mean, it's not the fanciest site out there, but it gets the job done. You can find articles about all sorts of topics, from sports to politics to entertainment.
One thing I noticed is that they have a lot of ads on their site. I get it, they gotta make money somehow, but it can be a bit annoying. Sometimes I click on an article and I'm bombarded with pop-ups and banners. It's like, come on guys, give me a break.
But hey, the content is pretty good. They have a mix of original articles and stories from other sources. It's nice to see a variety of perspectives. The writing is clear and easy to understand, which is a plus. I hate it when I have to read something three times just to figure out what the heck they're talking about.
The layout of the site is okay. It's not the most user-friendly, but it's not terrible either. Sometimes it takes me a minute to find what I'm looking for, but eventually, I get there. They could definitely improve the navigation though.
Overall, I'd say Gannett Company, Inc. is worth checking out. They have a wide range of news articles and the writing is solid. Just be prepared for some annoying ads and a slightly clunky website. But hey, nobody's perfect, right?
Journal star fail to deliver newspapers after subscription is paid in full
Journal star fail to deliver newspapers after subscription is paid in full. I mean, seriously? I forked out my hard-earned cash for a whole year's worth of papers, and what do I get? Nada. Zilch. Not a single paper in sight. It's like they took my money and ran off with it. Talk about a rip-off.
I called up their customer service, hoping to get some answers. But let me tell you, it was a total nightmare. The person on the other end of the line sounded like they couldn't care less about my problem. They were all like, "Oh, we'll look into it," and "Sorry for the inconvenience." Yeah, right. I've been waiting for weeks and still no sign of my beloved newspaper.
I even went down to their office to complain in person. And guess what? They gave me the runaround. They kept saying they were working on it and that I should be patient. But come on, how patient can one person be? I paid for a service, and I expect to receive it.
To make matters worse, when I finally did get a paper, it was all crumpled up and torn. It looked like it had been through a war. I couldn't even read half of the articles because they were so messed up. What a waste of my time and money.
I've had it with Journal star. They clearly don't value their customers or their commitment to delivering the news. I'll be canceling my subscription and taking my business elsewhere. There are plenty of other newspapers out there that actually know how to do their job. Save yourself the headache and stay away from Journal star. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
I signed up for a Sunday newspaper subscription about a month ago, but I've only received one paper so far
I signed up for a Sunday newspaper subscription about a month ago, but I've only received one paper so far. For the past three weeks, there's been nothing. We've tried calling to fix the problem, but it's been a long and frustrating process. The issue started because they wanted to charge us $45 per month, which I thought was too expensive considering they hardly have any restaurant coupons anymore. After some negotiation, they agreed to lower the price to $37.50 per month. However, when I received my bill, they still charged me $45. I contacted my credit card company to help me sort out this problem. I had already paid $9 for the Sundays-only subscription, so I expect to receive my Sunday newspaper as promised. If not, I will consider this a fraudulent act against me. Thank you.

I signed up for the Peoria Journal Star to get the newspaper every day
I signed up for the Peoria Journal Star to get the newspaper every day. But man, oh man, have I had some issues with them. I mean, seriously, I haven't gotten the paper so many times in the past year, especially since December. It's like they forgot I exist or something. So, I call their fancy automated line to complain, and they're all like, "Yeah, we'll make a note of it and deliver a paper today." But guess what? They never actually deliver the paper like they promised. And then they have the nerve to say they'll give me a credit. But honestly, I have no clue if I actually get that credit because my bill is always the same. It's a real bummer, you know?
And let me tell you, this past week has been a real doozy. I didn't get my paper on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and even today, Tuesday. Like, what the heck, guys? I'm paying for a service, and they're just not delivering. And to top it all off, they don't even give me any proof that they've given me a credit. It's like they expect me to just trust them or something. Not cool, not cool at all.
I been tryin' to get my Sunday newspaper that I been payin' for delivery for like 10 years
I been tryin' to get my Sunday newspaper that I been payin' for delivery for like 10 years. But they keep messin' up, like so many times. I thought they fixed it like 2 months ago when I went to their office. But guess what? Today, 06/07, no newspaper again. I tried callin' 'em, but had to wait till 8am to talk to a real person. And let me tell ya, that person was rude as hell. He said they ain't gonna redeliver my newspaper, even though they usually do. Instead, he said they can extend my subscription. Well, they can extend it all they want, but that don't help me read the damn newspaper. They act like they don't give a damn. I left a message for the circulation desk manager (***), hopin' she'll call me back 'cause she gave me her number last time they messed up. I ain't payin' $5 for their Sunday newspaper. What can you do to help me? Thanks for listenin' and takin' the time.
I'm really mad 'bout how they sell a service they can't do
I'm really mad 'bout how they sell a service they can't do. I paid for a 7 day a week delivery but I never get it. Just this week, I didn't get the paper on 12/6, 12/8, 12/9, and 12/10. Only got it on 12/7. I emailed 'em and called 'em so many times, and they do give me another day on my account. But it ain't right to take my money when they know they can't deliver. I get that mistakes happen sometimes, but this has been going on since I started my subscription. You can never talk to a real person, it's all automated or email. I don't think it's fair that I have to call 'em every day to get my account credited. How can they sell a service they can't do? Why do I have to call 'em every single day? Should I get a lawyer 'cause I can't be the only one this is happening to. Please help! Thanks.
My old man wanted to get a digital subscription from Peoria Journal Star in July
My old man wanted to get a digital subscription from Peoria Journal Star in July . They took his money and gave him a subscription. Then, in the first week of December, there was an Apple update to the Peoria Journal Star's app. Somehow, this messed up my father's subscription. After sending 20 emails over the course of 3.5 weeks, someone from Florida finally reached out on a Saturday. She fixed my father's account, but only after I complained to the ComplaintsBoard.com. They had misspelled the email as "gmial" instead of "gmail." To cut a long story short, it's been almost 2 months now, and my elderly father still doesn't have his paper. We've sent countless emails and made phone calls, but it's still not sorted out. The worst part is that there's no one physically at The Peoria Journal Star who can fix this. You have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get in touch with someone from this company. It's the worst customer service I've ever experienced. If necessary, I can provide proof that my father paid and I've saved all the emails from this company. Thanks a lot
