timeshare
My wife and I love to go to Vegas and almost always stay at the Jockey Club. We bank our weeks to II and then pick the Jockey Club for our trip to Vegas. The last time we were there in 11/08 we decided to take part in their timeshare presentation, bad choice. When they asked us why we were there I told them that we liked the Jockey Club and wanted to maybe buy so we can come back every other year. We told them that we were only interested in the Jockey Club. Our vacation advisor said he had the perfect package. He said because of the new Center City plaza going up around the Jockey Club it would be hard to get in there through Interval. Why we believed him I do not know! This was through the Starpoint Resort Group.
He ended up selling us a membership in GeoHoliday Club for 15, 000 credits every even year for perpetuity. Great! We can now go to the Jockey Club every even year. WRONG! It is 2010 and our first year we can go to our Jockey Club. I called GeoHoliday to book our trip for sometime in Oct 2010. Gave them our member number and asked what week was available. They then proceeded to tell me that we do not have enough points to stay there.WHAT!? We would have to pay ---- besides our week to stay. Of course if we wait until like 30 days before we could get a discount. Ya! Right!. I told them that we bought this place exclusively to stay at the Jockey Club and they sold us something we can not use! We were misinformed or maybe lied to. We did not, nor were we told the the Jockey Club was more than 15, 000 points to stay, 25, 000 to be exact.
I just want what we asked for. I've called and tried to get an answer why we were sold a property we can not use. Of course they do have other places to go, but we told them we are only interested in the Jockey Club. Hopefully they will do something. I doubt it!
BE AWARE ALWAYS OF WHAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR AND WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO BUY.
Failure to provide incentatives
I have read the complaints and I can help those regarding Starpoint. First I too bought from Geo and was offered all the free vacations. I followed the instructions perfectly. I went to Starpoint with my voucher and was turned away since thier policy is by mail only. I did so by certified mail. I have recieved one certificate and not Hawaii. I have called and the voice mail from Century Link will not take any messages. But living in Las Vegas I went there. For the person who says they are not I have the address: 3340 South Topaz Ave. Suite 210 Las Vegas, Nv. 89121. As far as Geo/Jockey Club this information may help you also. Here is the name of the sales director. Ernest Hall, email address is [protected]@hotmail.com and his direct telephone line is [protected]. I am now in the process of breaking that contract, let them do what they want. I have also found out that the 964.61 dues to Concord is one year in advance meaning I have sent them a check for 2010 AND 2011, I stopped payment on that this morning. I also did not authorize them to take out the monthly mortage payments from my checking account but they are, how I showed them a check for Id verification and they kept a copy. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you are just as bad of a scammer as they are. I hope you are well versed in contract law. FYI stopping payment on a check that you wrote is considered fraud in most states. Be careful you could end up in jail over this.
fraud and lies
We took the Geo Holidays tour at the Jockey Club in las Vegas and were amazed at the fraud and deception this group perpetrated on the folks touring.
Here are some of the lies told:
1. they bought the jockey club and are refurbishing it
2. all who come to the jockey club through geo holidays will have full access to the cosmopolitan pool and amenities - JC says only 75 passes a day will be granted
3. geo holidays says it is spending 18 million to refurbish the units - lies! the owners of the jockey club through their maintenance fees are the ones doing the refurbishment.
4. they are selling credits or points - what a waste. You own nothing with these points but at least if you own at the jockey club you have a deed to the real estate
These are just some of the lies told so we encourage you not to buy from these folks - and to check all [redacted]s such as this one for complete information on their fraud and deceptions!
Hi can you please tell me how you know you these are lies? I need to decide wether to buy. THanks
Timeshare fraud
All of those who are sick of paying for timeshsares from these scammers please read this. If you are making payments through Equiant Financial you need to know this: They did not loan you any money! They are just a payment processor for Geoholiday. They collect the money from you and give it to them! So, if you stop paying, Geoholiday is the only one out money! If all of us who were lied to and swindled stop paying maybe they will take notice that we will not put up with their dishonesty. Stopping payment can be a pain in the butt. You may have to cancel a credit card or change bank accounts or even banks, but worth it. Also, stop paying your maintainence fees. Why pay for something you did not buy! I bought what the salesmen told me, not what Geoholiday is in reality. For those of you who are paying through someone else, look into it. They may be the same sort of company as Equiant Fianacial. I hope this info is helpful to a few of you out there. I am going to continue to gather people together to try to start a Class Action Lawsuit. But that means people need to get in touch with me. I am a mother of 3 young children and don't have time to track down everyone!

Canadian here.
After offering to give my time share back to GEO (free of charge) and getting nowhere I simply stopped paying. After a couple months they started making phone calls and eventually handed it over to a collection agency.
The collection agency called and emailed a few times and after 6 months or so have given up - haven’t heard from them at all.
I check my credit report (Credit Karma and Borrowell) every few days and they are not affected in any way whatsoever.
This is an American company and they don’t have access to our Canadian Credit system.
I would like to be a part of this class action suit also. I am having the same issue as everyone else. Have tried to give it back to them at no cost but with no luck. My contract which I signed back in 2009 has totally changed (which is or should be totally illegal) should make it null and void but they just ignore you when you try and explain that to them. I haven't stopped paying my maintenance fees but I will for the next payment. My name is Joyce Compton and I can be reached at jcompton@ntl.sympatico.ca and I live in Haileybury, Ontario, Canada. Please reach out to me with any information you can provide me on this situation.
Thank you,
Joyce Compton
Desperate to get this out of our hands too. I am getting anxiety attacks becuase of this. Please include me in this.

If you are in Canada and want out of your maintenance fee, just stop paying, they cannot affect your credit score in Canada. It is not worth it for them to go after you, they would have to first get a judgement in the US then a judgement in Canada, it is not worth it for them to go after you for a small amount of outstanding debt.
We’ve paid our initial purchase in full many years ago and feel we got our money’s worth over the last 15 + years but no longer wish to travel to the US with the current political atmosphere, gun violence and COVID so we offered to sign the shares back free of charge but they want us to pay almost $3,000.00 US to do so, we refuse to pay to give it back.
It isn’t good enough that they got our initial $10K and can resell it, they now passed on the very low debt to Monterey Financial Services collections… We simply will not answer their calls so good luck to them.
Im in Canada and just purchased 2 months ago. Any updates when it comes to credit score? I am.panning to just stop paying but I am afraid it gets in the way when we try to purchase a new or or refinance our current one.
From on Canadian to another - If you haven't already done so, just stop paying. It has now been over a year and a half and we no longer hear from these people. my credit rating is a good as it has ever been (in the high 800s). We decided to keep the one timeshare we have with RCI as the maintenance fees are much more reasonable but dumped GEO Holiday as their fees were excessive and it was very hard to get a reservation when we wanted it. At some point we will dump RCI as well.
They will hound you for a few months, phone calls and emails, it will be a little bothersome but be nice about it; simply tell them that you are a Canadian, and you know that they cannot affect your credit rating in Canada. Tell them that you hereby relinquish any and all rights to the use of your timeshare and do not want any money for relinquishing it.
We offered to sign any necessary paperwork to relinquish title back to them, once we sent that last email, we never heard from them again.
Good luck!
Timothy Halifax of US

Hi
My name is maria bonadio and my husband james and I have the same story and all these stories are just like mine! unfortunately I signed up 2018 and have been paying for this scam since then and want to terminate my contract asap and it would be great to get reimbursed 😕 for the money invested since for one thing i've never even been able to get to schedule anything to use my timeshare! twice within [protected] i've lost 2 homes... you know that money could've went a long way... was sick for 8 months needing emergency surgery, well guess what, that money could've went a long way too!
Please keep me posted on this and include me if pursued further.
Sincerely
Maria bonadio

We were sold "deeded timeshare ownership of Jockey Club in Las Vegas." Turned out to be lie, it is in fact "membership of a vacation club, Geo Sapphire, " which essentially charges annual fee for accommodation, often with additional cleaning/service fees. Brittney, are you still pursuing this? aubreycopeland@gmail.com

Hello all,
Please include me as well. Same issues that are mentioned by many. Fraudulent claims, high pressured sales and not honored my right of a cooling-off period. Lies, lies and money grab that I never imagined will give me anxiety and mental stress.

Pressured sale that is just a twist of the arm
GEO HOLIDAY MONTEX FINANCIAL SERVICES OR GH MARKETING One company with many names like an octopus with many arms I am Victim of Geo Holiday, THE MOST DISHONEST COMPANY I'VE EVER SEEN. Biggest Scam ever existed. TORONTO, ONTARIO, Ontario
I want to report about this company GH Marketing Inc. or GEOHoliday or Montex Financial. They are all one company under different names using telemarketing and a distorted method of pressured sale that is just a twist of the arm. 10 sales people around us. They forced me to sign a promissory note without my knowledge. The promissory note was clipped under the membership paper in such a way that what I was signing wasn't entirely visible.
Please read my report, advice on how to get my money back $4466, will be appriciated.
They also sent me Notice of collection from Credit Bureau of Canada collection to pay immediately Balance $11559.00.
I tried to cancel the contract went to their office I found is closed on saturday went few other saturdays I found they closed and their phone out of service . I said they out of business and cancelled my payment and found after that they have very bad name and not registered with TICO. Their location where we attended their presentation. At 51 International Blvd in Etobicoke.
We're currently looking for other people, especially from Toronto, GTA who have the same problem tosue them if you support me I support you--- magdieshesh at hotmail.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The option of paying $2000 seems to no longer be available and 'm at a point of not wanting to pay any more maintenance fees. The fees keep going up and I end up having to pay extra to access RCI resorts which are as a general rule higher quality than Geo resorts. I'm willing to put up with collection phone calls and bad credit ratings, but has anybody ever been actually sued by them in Canada and what can happen as result? I also saw that there's a class action lawsuit filed in the States since 2015. Does anybody know how to start one in Toronto (GTA) Canada?
Ive come under the Geo curse 2 years back. I was in Vegas one summer and got bribed into buying membership when I was drunk. I had no idea that getting out of it was such a craze. I haven't paid my membership and fee at all this year and I don't plan on. It probably will mess up my credit and everything, but I cannot pay these Geo Holiday frauds any longer. Why can't we take these ###s to court? I've been paying for absolutely nothing and refuse to pay any longer. Help?
I am also in the same situation for last 10 years. Am keep paying maintenance fee started from $350 US and now paying almost $800 US. I really want to get out of it. Contract does not say that we have to pay $2000 for cancellation but are being forced to pay it in order to get out of this plan. I think best is to contact Ministry of consumer protection and speak to them to sort this out otherwise we are in big trouble.
I am in the same situation. we bought a week every 2 years. We were lied to, told the fees which when we bought were more than half what they are now. We never used it, we continued to pay condo fees until this year and they have now put us in collections. It is a rip-off and i don't want this anymore. There must be something in consumer protection act in Ontario to get us out of this.
The collection letters have started now. They have our money paid in full but we will no longer pay the annual fees for RCI or their maintenance fees. This is a farce. There is no deed to any property. It is no different than joining a fitness club because this money is not tied to any deed. if there is a class action suit can you please advise. I would like to see these people out of business. They are bullies, pressure you into joining, and the fees keep going up and up and up for points! Just want out
An update to getting out of Geo Timeshare..
Read your contract - ours stated that we must be current with our maintenance fees or agreement would/could be terminated. We did not pay any more fees and the threatening calls, emails and letters started. We held out for 4 months of constant harassment. (they called every day, sometimes twice a day for the last 2 weeks) We received a call from a very polite, nice collection company. She stated the amount we were behind in and what was coming due. I explained the whole story and stated that we were not paying anymore fees seeing we never used the timeshare and never will because of the unorganized nonsense. She stated that if we wanted to terminate the contract it was a one time fee of $2000.00. I paid the amount, received confirmation via the mail that we were done with Geo Holiday and have not received anymore bills or calls since than (Nov 2010) - it worked for us. I forgot about this msg board and was just notified of it this morning by another individual that was frustrated. Figured I should update for all others. clac72@hotmail.com
We experienced the same thing and are totally disappointed. We went to St. Maarten for our wedding and were very disappointed with our accommodations. Dogs hanging around, [censor] roaches in our apartment, rusty noisy fridge that couldn'g be fixed except to unplug it. Nevermind the steep neverending stairs to get to our suite. Not bad if you don't have to lug suitcases up and down. I have stayed in better accommodations in Cuba at an all inclusive price for less.
i find it hilarious too that they have on their website a "scam" page - seems like they are prepared for this - everything is probably greased to protect them from government and lawyers given that they seem to have been at this for years
we just got scammed too - on a timeshare in las vegas. what can be done other than complain on a board like this?
I found that if your really willing to go ball out and just dont pay them they will cave... tell them foreclose who cares... I did the math if you consider the cost to buy plus interest and the HOA plus the RCI subcription fee and the RCI trade free your looking at say 2000 bucks a week for your stay - figure you'll dump the whole thing in 7-10 years at most
if you put 200 a month into a vacation savings account you could go ANYWHERE ANYTIME and get a lot more value... overall I can't see timeshares working out, maybe if you need to drag the kids along but even then how asskicking of a place could you rent for 2400 a week... think about it...
BTW - the way geo works is they buy foreclosed timeshares for dirt and resell them, they actually own nothing
My husband and I experienced the same situation many years ago and we are still attempting to get rid of the actual timeshare.
The point system is paid in full but we have never used it and continue to pay maintenance fees. I have even spent extra money to list and sell - that too is a scam (Interval Properties)
I too am looking for trustworthy honesty to sell and be rid of this nightmare. Even if this type of timeshare works for others - I have 20, 000 points that I want to sell.

They promised we would get free dinner, tickets to a show of our choice, two round trip tickets and hotel anywhere in the Us, free buffet and free steak dinner. All that for a $40 deposit to save a spot in the presentation. Had to go to a 120 min presentation that turned into 5 hours where we were slammed by 5 high pressure sales people, each one offering another lie of promises. We ended up leaving 150 dollar deposit, some *** coupons and paper work for free trips that required hundreds of dollars to be sent in with them in order to get the trip. So we lost our $40 and our $150 deposit. Even though we signed up we refused to supply our SSN's and would not supply any of our banking information. If you are making payments through Equiant Financial or any other place they presented to you, you need to know this: They did not loan you any money! They are just a payment processor for them. They collect the money from you and give it to them! So, if you stop paying, they are the ones out of the money! If everyone who were lied to and swindled stop paying maybe they will take notice that no one will put up with their dishonesty.Turns out, their 'membership' is no more binding than a gym membership. Just don't pay the dues and there's nothing they can do other than a bit of harassment. Ignore them! Stopping payment can be a pain in the butt. You may have to cancel a credit card or change bank accounts or even banks, but worth it. Also, stop paying your maintainence fees. Why pay for something you did not buy!
Hi
We bought geo holiday membership in 2013 and are so pissedoff. We paid around $9000 and still paying maintenance fee every year for nothing.. I cant loose my money for getting nothing. i am planning to file a case against them.. If we wanna file a case for free against them i need atleast 5 people who are facing similar problem with geo.. So, please do reply me gdivya08@gmail.com so that we can fight against them and get our hard earned mny from them
Thanks
Geo Holiday, Sapphire club and Star point resort all operate from Jokey Club in Las Vegas. They are scammers they will not tell you about the 5 days cancellation period. I verbally told them I want to cancel my contract after two days while I was in Las Vegas, they told me to write a letter when I get home, even though I told them I will not be home for another 5 days.
There many people in my situation. They will not return calls, they will not book your timeshare, the maintenance fee goes up 20% every year, and they will give you a one star hotel to stay in.
All promises they made to us was a lie. They didn’t give anything we were told on the presentation.
Stay away from these unscrupulous people.
If you signed up with Starpoint Geoholiday & you want to cancel do so with the help of your credit card company. The dispute will be service not as described or maybe the merchant id code tor Starpoint doesn't qualify for the 5 day cancellation as they are only 3rd party reseller of Timeshare. If you are still within 120 days from the day you signed the contract you might still contact your credit card company, if more than 120 days still ask your credit card company how they can help. If its been more than 120 days as to cancel recurring charges if possible as service offered not as described by merchant who is Starpoint.
Suing will just be waste of money & time since the contract is quite binding but maybe your credit card company might be able to cancel it for you since every credit card company has extended coverage. Call your credit card company if the charge was thru your credit card.
If your the type of person who already have a house & don't need your credit history to be in excellent standing you can just walk away.
Remember though you will need your credit history if you are applying for work employer look as this information sometimes, when your applying for student loans, credit line, or any type of line of credit or loan. I was already going to walk away without paying but i seek the help of my credit card provider & they were able to find a loophole to cancel the entire service. I think I was just lucky. I hope this information was enlightening to some people who got trapped by this Timeshare company. Don't try to pay anyone any fee to get the contract cancel bec they will also just take your money. United States let this industry flourish bec its like a money grabber that has legal sanction for the rich people. Its sad i felt disgusted by the way they conduct their business. They're a bunch of big, big, big LIARS! Don't ever listen to what they tell you. I was just ignoring their call I even changed my number just to get rid of harrassing phone calls by their collection company Equiant
to everyone that is unhappy with geoholiday, starpoint resorts, whomever these people CLAIM to be...I too got caught up and excited when presented with their sales pitch...ended up buying a plan, throughout the ordeal sales person Luis said, "don't worry about using points, I'll show you how to stay as many times and as long as you want WITHOUT using your points"..."show you how to have the timeshare PAY for itself"...lies !
salesman STEVE said he had 32 timeshares !
I was NEVER told about the "CANCELLATION" policy, Cheryl Wright placed the cancellation form into the packet containing the resort brochure magazine and NOT with all the paperwork that you sign!
Tried to cancel, called everyone, EQUIANT, the TITLE TRUST company, New York CU, even sent registered mail to HQ in Toronto Canada, to NO AVAIL...
Was told by CHERYL WRIGHT, ROBERT LOMASSARO, anyone that I talked to that they(GEO-H, STARPOINT etc.) was OBLIGATED by Nevada Law to fulfil to contract. THAT was a LIE!
I spoke to Carol Washington and Liz Chavez at the Nevada D.A. office and was told that "they" were under NO obligation to fulfill the contract and that "they" could CANCEL it at ANYTIME per their discretion. The 5 day grace period is to protect the consumer not the seller. I have records of dates, time and person i contacted, explained situation and so forth...NO SUCH LUCK ! Finally I closed my bank accounts, informed them i would be making ANY payments and IF they wanted to take me to court then so be it. This was done BEFORE the application process was completed, none of the entities had ANY information about me or any paperwork indicating that the process was completed. after several phone calls and emails requesting, "demanding" that I pay up. I finally received a notice advising me that "my real-estate" purchase in Las Vegas was going to be "foreclosed" on! I said thank you very much...I lost my deposit but i attribute that to me getting an expensive lesson.
I am trying to dispute the charge from my credit card and i'm not planning to pay them they can send me to collection and send a court order to pay but i'm not going to pay until the White House themselves tell me. Since this is allowed by the U.S government to flourish and suck our hard money and defraud us by giving false information to get us sign a contract while will i have to pay for it. Screw you Geoholiday and Starpoint i'm not even planning to go anywhere near your presentation but maybe i should stand infront of Fremont street where i was lured by these 2 people to offer good deals on Vegas shows & a buffet. Let's see what will happen i don't want to be charge of anything bec my criminal record is zero my credit bureau here in Canada is above 812 Fico score. So i intend to keep it that way. I just have to build my case against this Timeshare company so if anyone has any information on how please do share my email addr: jzurc10@hotmail.com
Geoholidays and Starpoint whoever they are reseller or 3rd party that just sells foreclosed Timeshare should be stopped by FTC. I even tried contacting the State Attorney General's office and they won't help on individual basis they will only take our complains and do nothing. U.S companies are very unethical and they don't give you enough time to review all information. Their way is to misrepresent and the intention is to just make consumer be lied upon just to get the SALES!
I cancelled per the instructions today, postmarked before the 5 days expired. I will let you all know if they cancel or fight me.
Geoholiday is a huge rip off. I want to dump them so bad I can taste it. I'm on line now looking for help to do that. I tried to use my "points" to get a room for vacation. The fees were more than if I had booked the room myself. which I did.
April, 2011, we purchased a timeshare with Starpoint Resorts in Las Vegas/Jockey Club. From the moment we were solicited on the street we were lied, about getting a tour of the newly renovated suite, selling/renting our credits (which as you mentioned would not cover our stay at the club). Our vacation advisor pushed us, give us incentives and more pressure. We asked for 12 hours to think about, and because we reluctant, and Errol Vestuto, our advisor told us it was our lucky day, an associate was here who he brought in to talk to us. At this time more incentives were offered, more pressure, dropped the price of the timeshare and more credits. More pressure was pushed to sign the contract. When we finally did, we were rushed through the purchase papers, one page was reviewed with us. Errol walked us to the entrance, to wait for taxi that he had called for us to take us back to our hotel. We spent about 3-4 hours through the whole process. After some time, no taxi, we decided to walk to the street to flag one, Errol give us a $10.00 for the cab and his cellphone number if we had any questions. Two days later we contacted him to inform him that we wanted to cancel the contract. He was not happen with us, asked why, we told him it just wasn't for us. We wanted to come to the office, get the paperwork done, he told us it was not necessary. We asked him about the 5 day cancellation policy. He said that he would let the office know about our request, that the five day cancellation policy doesn't mean anything. Also that GeoHoliday wasn't out to rip people of their money. He lied to us and intentionally misled us. This is a direct violation of the policy, because the policy holder only can cancell it. From the moment, we were approched on the street, we were lied over and over. When we returned home and did not receive a phone call from Starpoint Resorts, we phoned and were inform that Errol never did realy the message to them. So he set us up for a timeshare that we did not want to purchase in the first place. After many phone calls, e-mails, etc, we've been scammed and I have no desire to go to Las Vegas ever again. You're right, they wii do absolutely nothing to help you. When we spoke to Errol about cancelling our timeshare, inform us that he didn't have the authority to do it and THAT HE WANTED HIS $10.00 BACK, ERROL, we want our down payment back that you so intentionally set us up. Betty and Rusty
