On 12/9 I booked a trip with Getaroom for a trip to Yellowstone. The agent told me that I could drive into Yellowstone and park within 5 minute walk of Old Faithful. We asked her many questions and specifically this parking one multiple times, as it would be below zero the day of our arrival and Yellowstone in the winter is very remote. She confirmed that parking was at the hotel. I booked based on her info. I than called Yellowstone to rent skis while there and the person on the phone started laughing and freaking out. Yellowstone is closed to personal vehicles, should we have attempted the trip it could have led to extensive fines and or risked our lives if we would have gotten stuck on the roads at -10 below. I immediately called Getaroom to cancel the reservation (within 45 minutes of booking). They apologized for the bad information and said the cancellation would take up to a week to show up on our card. Well the cancellation never showed up. I called again. Still no cancellation. I would advise NOT booking with this online site. They do not care about your trip or even to give you the best information. Thank goodness I checked on this before heading out to a closed National Park with my children. We very well could have died by using Getaroom and their advice.
Claimed loss: $1238.23
Desired outcome: refund of my money and Getaroom to not book for National Parks in the Winter without much better information and guidance.
