I've been calling GM Financial repeatedly for the past year to get the title for my vehicle.
They are unable and unwilling to remove themselves as the Lien Holder and sent me my title. They will not send a letter (so that I can provied it to my insurnace and updated my car policy) that the loan has been paided off.
My loan was paid off a year ago. Every time I call I get one excuse after another. They are changing to a different Title System. The title system is down. Or I get sent from one department after another.
This is grand theft auto! My car insurance company is aware of the issue.
The last time I called, I threatened them with legal action. They have since deleted my account from the web site. So I am no longer able to provide my account information.
And today it finally happened. The vehile was totalled due to an accident. I'm without a vehicle. And cannot collection the payment from my insurance provider without the title. They almost sent the money to GM Financial as they are still listed as the Lien Holder. EVEN THOUGHT THE LOAN IS PAID OFF
By law, they should have send the title without 30 days of paying off the loan. As long as a Loan Satisfaction Letter.
Claimed loss: Unable to collect insurance payment due to vehicle lose.
Desired outcome: Removed as Lien Holder, Vehicle Title sent ASAP

I had the same problem with GM Financial. I paid my loan off in August 2024. I called GM Fin. several times and each time I was getting a different representative of GM Fin to talk to and each time I was given a different story why they did not release me from my lien. By law they should have released the lien within 30 days from when loan was paid off. It is Now February 21, 2025. I still do not have my lien release or title. They did however send me a letter in the mail stating I was released from the lien. When Pa. Department of Transportation went to look, at it on their computer system it still said I had a lien against my vehicle. And so this went back and forth with Pa Dept. Of Transportation and GM Financial from October 2024- until present date February 2025. I think G M Finacial is forcing me to bring a class act law suit against them.
