My husband and I were duped by Grand Getaways, a Coast to Coast Travel Company (also known as Grand Getaways Vacation Club, Grand Incentives) for $4, 900! Their principal place of business is at 64 Inverness East, Englewood, CO 80112 and they have a Member Care Center at 756o Commerce Ct, Sarasota, Florida 34243. The club is supposedly licensed and bonded by the State of Florida as a Seller of Travel under Registration No.: ST36512. We were solicited while we were on a Royal Carribean cruise with one of the stops going to St. Maarten. When we got off the ship to tour St. Martin, and within 10 minutes of so off the ship, we were stopped in the street by this young man who asked us to play a game with these scratch off tickets. This kid wouldn't leave us alone despite our attempts to ignore him. He kept following us down the road until we finally spoke to him. BOY WAS THAT A HUGE $4, 900 MISTAKE! So, he gave both my husband and I a scratch off ticket. My husband's ticket was determined a loser, and of course I won. This kid was and this kid was SO excited for me because he said that I had just won a 5 day trip to Cancun! He said that to claim the prize, I would have to follow him to a building down the street. At first I said no, but he begged us because to come with him because he was going to receive a commission and told us that these type of scratch off come out a random and I would really be doing him a favor. I didn't want to go because I was off the ship to enjoy St. Martin which NEVER HAPPENED. The nice people we were, we followed him down the street to the building. However, before we got there he was on a cell phone telling his counterparts that he was on his way with a winner! He apparently had to buy some time (I think another couple was reviewing the presentation) so he asked us if we wanted a drink from this stand on the corner just by the building. I think his intent was for us to have a drink and let our guard down. I declined, but my husband had a beer. I was very uneasy about the entire situation, but this kid assured me this was legitimate and reiterated I would be doing him a favor.

When we got to the building, we were greated by the receiptionist who happened to be from Florida from the same area where my husband I were from and offered us ANOTHER drink. Again I refused, but my husband agreed to have one. Eventually, a representative came out and convinced us to sit down and watch a presentation before we "claimed" our free prize. Skeptical we were, but sat and watched a video presentation at their request. I want to say the video was approx. 30 to 40 minutes long. We were both getting very restless. When it was over, they used high pressure sales tatics to convince us why we should buy into this club. They were explaining the different levels of membership such as Diamond, Platinum, Gold, etc. All I could think at the time they were quoting these prices is that I cannot affort $20, 000, $15, 000, etc... The prices were apparently determined by the number of resort weeks you were entitled to use. We certainly were not interested and threatened to leave. So, in comes someone else to start the conversation again...so what do you guys like doing for vacation. So angrly we told them we like to cruise. Well at that point, the pitched changed to be structured on how much they could save us on cruises. Different people kept coming into the room to keep us "company" and to try to find ways to "close" the deal. If you recall, we were there simply trying to claim our "FREE" vacation from the kid on the street! At one point a man came in and said you can save 50% off your cruises and it will essentially pay for your memebership. He said the company buys the cruises at a deep discount because of all their memberships. At that point we became interested. We tested them by asking them to give us quote on the same Royal Carribean cruise, same itinarary, same Jr. Suite and room number, that we booked for the following weeks ahead. I figured the pricing would be very similiar (and likely more expensive because of late booking) since it was close in time to our cruise. The manager came back with a paper showing the price which appeared to be approx. 50% off of what we paid for our cruise---Wow how about that! They also keep reitering how they were affiliated with Chicago Title and Bank of America so it appeared as if they were legitimate and in my mind I thought they must be because they are transacting business with these company and surely they vetted the company before accepting them as a client RIGHT? These two companeis should be ashamed of themselves supporting this type of scam. Well, as noted above the memeberships started at $20k, and when they knew we could not afford those prices, they eventually came down to $4, 900 and said we can apply for a credit card through Bank of America. We thought if we booked the next two cruises with them, it would pay for the membership and we would have those condo weeks in addition to saving on our cruises. We attempted to walk out again, but they threw in additional condo weeks and they "closed" the deal.

Well fast forward into almost year 3 of the program...WE HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO USE THE PROGRAM, NOT EVEN OUR "FREE" CANCUN VACATION. Their prices ARE NOT LOWER THEN WHAT YOU CAN GET BY YOURSELF ON THE INTERNET OR THROUGH YOUR REGULAR NORMAL TRAVEL AGENCY. THIS COMPANY IS EXTREMLY HARD TO DEAL WITH AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO TRY AND BOOK ANYTHING! Since signing up, we went on two nice vacations...one was another cruise with Royal Carribean and also went to a really nice All Inclusive in the Dominican Republic. Before we booked, we contacted them for their rates and surely thought they would much lower right? Not only was it very difficult dealing with their travel specialist (I mean what an experience) their prices were much higher. Talk about disappointment with this company I cannot even explain. Folks you would be MUCH BETTER GO WITH ANY LOCAL TRAVEL AGENT or USING THE INTERNET. Remember the promise of 50% off...well that was a crock! Then they told me they could price match guarantee? What are they saying I thought? So, I did ALL the work to go out and find the cheapest rate around, and then you tell me you want to price match it. I spent hours of my time researching a cruise. Even if they price matched guaranteed, why wasn't the price lower to begin with since they tout millions of members allows them to buy at bulk rates. Ok...we tried again with the Dominican Trip. Again, their prices were higher than what we obtained from three different agents around the country. I said to myself REALLY? What the hell type of travel club is this! I am so flustered that I don't even know what to do at this point other than to contact all governmental agencies that regulate this industry and this company. I have navigated their website many times just trying to give this company a chance and it is difficult as hell to figure out what the resort looks like or any comments on it. You have be an investigator and go to google to do that! Hopefully. when you are searching google you get the correct resort so you know you are comparing apples to apples. You think the company would make research a bit easier, but its not the case. Also when you search through their condos that you supposedly save on...they all look like some run down Motel 6. I mean you ask people to spend $20k or even my $4, 900 on your membership and you are going to put me up at a Motel 6 REALLY?

So to recap, for $4, 900 we got nothing NADA..no trips, No Motel 6 condo stays, nothing to show for it other than a payment every month on our lovely Bank of America Credit Card. Oh yeah...the rate went up and so we had to switch it to another card at zero percent. Many people were promised that the interest rate would stay low, but that was not the case either...just another selling tatic. Oh...and there is the renewal fee each anniversay year which is supposed to be $199, however, they try to upsell you to getting two years for $349 and they tell you they will through in a $500 Gift Certificate towards airfare. Well, when you get the package and read the fine print, you have to book it through them and they guarantee the lowest rates, however, its only a $25.00 discount for fares between $200 and $299, $50.00 discount for fares between $300 and $399; $75.00 for fares between $400 and $499 and $100 for fares between $500 and $599. Tickets are not valid one week before or after holidays too...and you must give them 14 day advance notice and it must include a Saturday. What a JOKE! On the phone it sounded like you were going to get a $500 Gift Certificate, but they failed to mention the fine print, but they got you to renew for two years didn't they!

I'm ready to file suit against this company for fraud, mispresentation, and breach of contract to name a few. If you are contenplating signing up with this company PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND WALK AWAY LIKE MY HUSBAND AND I SHOULD HAVE DONE in St. Martin for the poor little kid on the street who needed a commission...REALLY. I plan on reaching out to others who have been scamed by this company as well as various government agencies. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. P.S. I looked at my contract and the folks that sold it to us were Jose Velez, Quality Assurance Manager and Hakim Merabet, Sales Direction in St. Maarten, Osprey Drive #4, Unit A &B, Juancho Yrausquin Blvd., Philipsburg, St. Maarten [protected] or [protected], [protected]@gmail.com, as well as Philip Provenzale at [protected]@aol.com. Their websites show on the contract as: www.affinitygroup.com; coastresorts.com and gograndgetaways.com

You know I fee the same way. My wife and I despise this company and we should have a class action and they should be criminal charges against them. Has anyone called that states Attorney on this. Well I will and if I find out anything or how we all can get together on this I will post more information on this. The greatest scam is be done to us all. Somehow we need to take action to shut them down and get criminal charges against all or most of them and monies back..

I have had the membership for around 3 years now... It isn't much more than prepaid travel agents and with the internet you can do it yourself. I use them because I paid $5500... I am a paid in full member... no annual dues. They sell me package deals for 3 night 4 day stays that get me with the free 4 night cruise to Freeport or Nassau for just port fees and taxes... I do like the 7 day condo rentals and have had good luck with booking those weeks at good prices.

If it weren't for the fact I am an Auditor by career choice and can work through the hoops they set in front of you after they have your money... I would be more upset. I got sucked in and now I play the games. I also hound them if needed.

IF you don't know how to book or research trips for yourself... paying them a membership fee and having them book you 'might' have value. However, Triple AAA rates are as good as what I find with this Travel Club and I trust Triple AAA.

The only thing worth a damn is the 7 night condo rentals. I have stayed in Daytona Beach in a Wyndham Resort and in Orlando in a Resort for less than $500 for a week. Not bad for 2 bedroom apartments with resort amenities. That $500 included taxes and fees. You are stuck in their locations offered though.

The Incentives they offer you when you join or pay dues are a total joke and very hard to use. However, if you play the game, hurry up and wait for days... send in the vouchers and wait 8-10 weeks... you can make it work... You do have to track it like a professional.

I am a Compliance Officer so I can get to a decision maker and usually they don't fight me if I press them... It is a shame I have to take it to that level to get somewhat of what was promised by the sales agents.

I did manage to book a suite in New Orleans during Thanksgiving week for a special price they offered me and I bought from Sales Staff. Whom I specifically asked about holiday bookings... When I booked it the Agent said they couldn't accommodate a Holiday booking. I pointed out that the Brochure DID NOT SAY "No Holiday bookings or black out dates...They tried to enforce it and I pressed the point strong and hard... I also brought up the fact the Board of Professional Regulation who regulates Travel Agencies and Telemarketing was just down the street from my office and I would happily go file a compliant and get their input on the 'no holiday booking' enforcement... So... I got my way AGAIN. However, I now know the laws, rules and regulations for Travel Agencies/Marketing and I can quote them since I have been forced into learn them by this organization. They say it cost them $100 in addition to my purchased 'special deal'... Well good!... They have $5500 of my money to apply towards those upcharges now don't they!

I would love to get my money back... but I am afraid that won't be happening... if you need me... rainbowjoye@yahoo.com

This place did the same thing to me. I can never find a deal and everytime I call to speak with someone they take info and call me back in 48 hours. Every quote they have given me has been off the mark of what I requested or rediculously expensive. We signed up in 2012 and have renewed the stupid membership program until 2020. We had an infant so we weren't traveling much. Now that I want to use the program I can never find a good deal. Please let me know if anyone started a class action law suit as I would love to get my money back. Rsentner13@yahoo.com.

I was scammed for $5000 four years ago in Domninican Republic, Punta Cana @ Blau Natura Park Resort by Coast to Coast Grand Gateways plus a fee of $350/year for five years ( I only payed three years). I was told one thing and turned out to be completely something else... Never used their services, not even once, as I always found something cheaper on internet through google search and little of my time! Let me know also, please!

I was scammed for $5000 in Dominican Republic, Punta Cana- Blau Natura Park Resort four years ago, plus another fee of $350/year. Didn't pay in full and I wanted to know how I stand ! Do I still have to pay or ? ( As I signed a contract)... Never once used their services as I found better deals every time by google search and little of my time. I don't need money back if that means a LOW SUIT - May God have mercy on their souls... I sympathy them! But I would like to know if I don't have to pay anything anymore for my own conscience, if theirs are clouded in darkness... Thank you! Alecsandra abudnariu@yahoo.ca

I was just contacted by Coast to Coast VACATIONS and I am wondering if it is the same company under a slightly different name. They just seemed to pushy and wanted me to put down $999 for a 5 night stay in up to 12 places that the Villa de la Palma chain of resorts owns. They swore it was not a time share and that once I went on the trip to Mexico or Thailand (no black out dates, 45 day notice to reserve, 18 months to reserve) I would then receive a 7 night cruise to pretty much anywhere. The first trip would be all inclusive (alcohol too) for our family of 4 and that there would be an "amenities" tour upon arrival to see what the place has to offer. I asked repeatedly if I would have any high pressure sales person taking up my precious vacation time. The person said no. Then I heard a lot of cheering in the background...someone just got duped! Okay so they transfer me to the supervisor who does not want me to talk this over with my husband... When I put up a fight then he suddenly drops the price to $800 for these two trips...no airfare included. He even lead me to a website http://coasttocoastvacations.net/destinos/ and I am wondering if it is the same one others have tried to use. It is way too simple and not enough information to convince me they are a legitimate business. So beware of Coast to Coast Vacations. It sounds like they may have branched off and are trying a new scam.

I am trying to reach as many people as possible. I become a victim to their scam in 2011. I paid nearly 7 grand and never got anything out of it. They refused to provide any service unless I paid more money. I didnt even have it for 3 months before they said I had to pay annual fees before I could use it. I told them this was a breach in their contract. I paid for services they failed to render. They said they would have a manager call me...I never heard from them again. I havent let go of it. Have you made any progress? Contact me about compiling a massive complaint and hopefully lawsuit? Seriously, I want to get a list of contacts, the more the better and start a crusade against this place.

We were scammed by them in 2012. Have experienced all the same negative issues that everyone else has complained about. My membership has been inactive for 4 years now. I thought I’d give them another chance. I’ve spent 3 hours on the phone over the last 2 days trying to renew my membership (most of that time was on hold & being disconnected after 20-30 minutes) with no success. Sad to see they are getting the same reviews after all these years.

The Office of the Attorney General took this so-called company to court in 2015. I'd filed a complaint against CCGG [Coast to Coast Grand Getaways] upon advice of other people who'd been scammed by these 'people' -- I had written to a travel columnist for a major US newspaper and he suggested I post my question about this scam company on his Expert Forum. After that I contacted the Florida Attorney General's office and was informed that the AG office was in "the process of obtaining affidavits from both Florida and out-of-state consumer victims in this case." Because of work hours, I could not travel to Florida to be present at the court case but I supplied them with a lot of information (credit card payments, notes taken during phone calls from CCGG), but I was able to get a partial refund and NO MORE INCOMING CALLS from that [insert your choice of descriptive word here] company, thank goodness. But... just to be on safe side, I notified my Credit Card company, and they agreed to block any additional billings from CCGG.

Just a quick recap:

-- I'd signed up with Cheap Trips (in 2013, I think) and then got a call from CCGG about a year latersaying they'd taken over Cheap Trips. Because of a very frenetic work schedule, I was never able to get enough time off to warrant trying to take a trip with either Cheap Trips or then, with CCGG. I never signed a formal contract with either Cheap Trips or CCGG.

-- I did try a couple of times to get airfare via CCGG to visit family in the US (far from where I live) but nobody ever got back in touch with me. Their website was "circular," in sense that if I clicked on one link, it took me back to a previous link.

-- Once my work schedule settled down, I took a couple of trips (including overseas!) that I arranged completely on my own, and realized that was a whole lot easier to do than trying to work through CCGG.

-- A lot of the complaints I've read online on this and other sites also happened to me:

1. telling me I had a contract (I had NEVER received a contact, either online or paper);

2. telling me membership renewal is not optional, it was "obligatory" (really? If I want to cancel my TV/Internet account, or membership in my HMO or COSTCO -- to give just a few examples -- it's done, just like that! so how can this so-called membership to CCGG be a required lifelong membership?);

3. their representative yelled at me if I challenged any of their claims;

4. they threatened to take ME to court if I didn't pay up...I should have tried that to see what they would do!

-- When I emailed CCGG asking for a copy of the "contract," I got an email from one of their representatives (Denise O) who sent me a long email saying she re-sent my Membership Kit to my email but warned me it was 60 pp long. There was NO attachment! She said once my membership expired in 2027 (no kidding!), I was "under no obligation to renew. Although you enjoy our services and will continue to be a member, you are under no obligation upon expiration of your renewal period to make a payment." Really? Considering that in the space of one year, they asked for TWO payments (!), it was hard to believe this. The partial refund I mentioned above, by the way, was only for those two payments, NOT for the several thousand I'd made before that. When I responded to Denise to let her know there was no attachment in her email, with that 60-page long Membership Kit! -- I never received an answer, nor did she respond to any of my calls to her.

By the way, I forwarded the CCGG emails and lots of other 'stuff' (such as credit card billings, etc) to the AG Office in Florida, back in 2015 (upon the AG's request).

I'm surprised these 'people' are still in business... but then again, maybe I shouldn't be. As I learned the hard way, there's a sucker (me!) born every minute... and there are a lot of unscrupulous people who are ready to take advantage of us.

Good luck, everyone!

Dana
