Used the website a few times but products seem to be well over priced plus the customer service in store is poor.
Over priced and dodgy business practices
Halfords isn't all bad, and I am sure not all of them are dodgy, however the ones I have visited seem to be. I was looking for a set of front wiper blades for my car. They told me ?35 for the set and ?8 to fit them. This was the price for the Halfords brand, Now I went to their competitor and purchased a set of Bosch Aero 2 blades for ?22.50 and they fitted them for free. Most other things can be had elsewhere for a cheaper price. Beware of them saying you need repairs. Get a second opinion. Many times the repair isn't needed and they always overprice the work and parts. I don't bother with them anymore. Also, A friend brought a car in to have two tyres fitted and then have an MOT. Why would Halfords do the MOT first, knowing it was there for two tyres, put the tyres down as an advisory, then fit the tyres? So now, he has advisories for the tyres on his MOT. The tyres should have been fitted first, then the MOT done so there would be no advisories. Dodgy!
Didn't know Halfords replaced bulbs, changed wipers, battery, tyres how brilliant is that
No Bookin in just turn up...
Small job like changing bulb,
No problem... Pleasant staff... Brilliant...

Halfords Group Complaints 8
Service
Today I went to Halfords at Seafield Edinburgh to buy a bike part, rear calliper mount when I was “served” by a young child. the lady just DID NOT LISTEN to my problem and told me to help myself in finding whatever I was looking for. Minutes later she came back to the shop with a McDonald’s bag in one hand and a milkshake in the other hand.
I have asked to speak to the general manager and the guy apologised for her attitude and all.
I also asked the general manager to file a complaint due to her attitude and rudeness but said I would have to file it online.
Customer service was never there.
She wasn’t only rude but also her attitude wasn’t the most appropriated.
Desired outcome: Get more training with customer service.
premium motoring club
I was interested in joining Halfords premium motoring club, but disapointed to learn that one of the benefits to join the PAID subsciption is not available in N.Ireland, this benefit is worth £44.95, but members in N.Ireland get nothing.
It is near on impossible to contact them and get an answer.
What is the point in joining this subscription if in N.Ireland?
Desired outcome: join club with a voucher to spend in store
nothing but a headache
I have been their regular customer for years. And I have tons of stories about their service and how bad it can be. So as a well-experienced customer I must say I am not impressed.
If I could choose another place, I would surely do. But there's nothing decent in my area. Now there's nothing left because I have to be done with them.
So I am just tired of their rude employees, who never keep their words.
Not sure I can advise you to deal with them.

Halfords uk mile end branch employes racist people
Today the 24th January 2013 I have being discriminated by a Halfrod's employee at the London Mile End branch.
For reasons which I think is racial discrimination. (A black man wearing a hat )
A regular cold British day I ran an on line search on Halfords website for engine oil for my car.
To my surprise they had a sale going on for the oil that I needed, which was at £10 for 4L price drop from £33.99.
I then ran a google reviews check, a few folks said it was good top specs oil, which was great.
I then did a online stock check, the nearest branch to my location that had stock was in Stoke Newington, .
I drove down there and bought 2 bottles, I also wanted an oil fitter for my car which they told me they do not keep stock at this branch.
The sales agent then said Tottenham hale has 4 and Mile End has 1 in stock.
I drove down to the Mile end branch.
I entered the store I ask one halfords employee about the oil filter, he told me to go down to the auto section, at the auto section I told this other guy my car reg, he then told me the item code, point me to the isle and said its the ones with yellow writing.
No prob, I went to the isle and in about 6 minutes of me searching I found the last one on the self.
funny enough this employee who point me to the isle failed to accompanied me to selfs to locate the oil filter, I also noticed he accompanied the next customer after me A white guy to the selves showing him wipers or some other things.
I guess my skin colour and hat is not worthy for a good costumer service at this branch.
I then started to browse the store looking at tools and seeking to find some thing I may need and also checking what was on sale.
I browsed a few isles from the back to the front of the store.
When i was at the front of the store I saw this car Active bass speaker for £99 I went over to have a look.
Wile I bent down to have a look I heard some one in the back ground shouted "Hey" very loud.
I did not look around
The person then repeated "hey" even louder
I looked around and saw this guy in halfords employee shirt, (not a security guard) he said "you need to remove your hat, I replied, what?
He then repeated the same thing "you need to remove your hat" I said why, he said "for security reasons any one with hats and helmet must remove then"
I said I am not removing my hat,
he then said "if you don't you will need to leave the store.
I said ### off. I am not leaving the store until I finish shopping,
he said "I am going to call the police"
I said do it.
Bearing in mind his first tone of voice was boisterous and aggressive like some one in charge, ( he thinks he is better off than me)
I then went to the till to pay for my oil filter and stood in the store lingering waiting for the police to arrive.
Police came.
Police told me some companies have no hats policies and i should adhere to them.
I told the police there was no sign on the doors nor was i told verbally or written about no hat policy when I entered the store.
The police said OK he will have a word with halfords staff, I left the store and be on my way.
A great way for wasting police time and taxpayers money
I phoned the store a bit after and ask to speak to the branch manager, who said his name was Stephan.
All he said was "I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, he also said the person who confronted me was new.
If this was the case for a no hat policy, the employee should have came close and approached me in a civilised respectful manner and not shout hey take off your hat from across the room. HOW EMBARRASSING?
I was in the store for about 15 to 25 minutes or so, why wasn't I confronted about my hat when I entered the store?
why waited so long to tell me to take my hat off,
Why was I told to take my hat off when I was it the previous Stoke Newinton branch.
I noticed other folks were in the store shopping with hats on.
The lady at the till had a headscarf on her head, Muslims visits this store regularly wearing headscarves.
Oh yea its their religion.
Well it was 3 degree Celsius out side today and there is no heater in this branch why should i take my hat off when they are allowed to wear their headscarf's?
What! does the security reasons do not apply to them also?
I live local to mile end and I have visit this branch on numerous occasions and not once was I told to remove my hat by the security or halfords employee
I am a hat person winter summer I wear hats.
I though since its 2013, civilise times there would be less discrimination around, folks should not judge people by their colour or what cloths they wear.
Seems I was wrong as its still here and today I have seen it from a so call reputable establishment as Halfords.
Here are some photos of the hat I was wearing at the time and photos for purchase receipt from both branch to day,

Hundreds of pound worth of damage to my car roof
I purchased roof bafrs for my new car in a halfords store. The punched in my registration no and identified a product for me. I fitted the roof bars and drove to spain. As I unloaded at my destination I noticed dents in my car roof at the base of one of the footings. The roof rack had been fitted according to instructions. I had followed all instructions to the letter. It was the racks maiden voyage.
It has caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to my car.
Halfords and mont blanc the company who manufacture the bars are declining responsibilty.
Halfords is not a name to be trusted
Bought car battery 5/7 days ago from llanelli store e-mail provide jeev1051@hotmail.com , thankyou post for purchase received from Halfords. i could not manage to find recipet of purchase in the post
Horrible service/racist manager
Any one going to halfords alperton...
Beware!
We went there to look at hayes book and there was a open book lying there, we started looking at it, the store manager came in and said its not a reference book. We said it was open, we are just looking so that we can buy it. And then, he shouted at us, abused us and literally drew us to the front door and kicked us out. May be he was a racist or some one who thinks he owns the company... Or may be he had a bad day, but still no way to treat your customers in country like uk and company like halfords.
But beware when you go there...
Hi psuguy58,
Probably you are one of those who hasn't been in minority in any country you lived. I am sure he was racist, with the tone of his voice, actions; I dont think if it was someone else he would have behaved in that way. I would never glorify what he did and use gentle words just to be good on post. He did wrong and in my definition it was something to do with how he looked at people. I am not worried about people like you, but whoever thinks of going there, should keep what happened to us in mind. Apparently I am not the only one complaining, I saw posts in other forums about the same person, behaving even horribly to the guy who posted it. Any ways thanks for you opinion.
no customer relations
I recently took my sons cycle in to Halfords crewe cheshire to be repaired as i am disabled now and am unable to fix it myself. The "KId " who served me was pleasant enough, he took my mobile no and said he would ring when the work was done. We waited for nearly 2weeks, then i had to go in and find out what was going on? I was met by 3 young lads laughing and joking for about 5 mins while i waited to be served, i was the only customer in the shop. Finaly after clearing my throat twice, i was greated with " Hey up Mate, What can i do you for?" I was not too impressed as i has never set eyes on this youth before in my life. I dont exactly look like a kid myself either! Im in my 40s. I asked ploitly about the state of repair of the cycle? He huffed and sighed as he thumped the keys on the computer. " Its ready do you want it now or what?" "I replied er yes if its not too much trouble" He left to a room at the rear and returned with the bike. He pushed a piece of paper at me " Heres the bill Mate" i looked at it it seemed to be reasonable enough at £21.98 "Ok" I said fine thanks. we wen tot the desk to pay and he thumped the poor keys again he then asked me for £29.97. I looked at him " pardon?" He said "its £29.97" How come?" I dunno i didnt fix the thing did I ? I asked him to" find out for me or i would only pay the ammount on the bill" He wandered off and returned "Its for the brakes if ya not payin for em ill take em off now, its up to you Mate" I not impressed i asked to "see the manager" "He's busy and cant be disturbed" Fine give me the bill then." Alright mate don't get shirty with me it's not my fault" I paid and on the way out i asked at the downstairs desk to see the manager for cycle repairs, "he's on his break and not to be disturbed" I have never had such poor and blaitently bad customer care in any shop ever to date. If they insist on employing Childeren to work the counters at least use ones with more than one brain cell between them. I will follow up this as soon as i find the Hlafords complaints site.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
They're a bunch of cowboys. I went in to get my brake adjusted. They say they have fixed price repairs and it should have cost £6. Instead they charged me £17.99 for a full brake service!
Not only that but they kind of botched it as the back brake it still a little dodgy. Also they said they replaced the brake cables however part of the cable is clearly still slightly rusty! On top of that they even had the nerve to suggest I buy new brake blocks from them! All in all a bunch off no good dirty scam merchants who just want to rape your wallet. Avoid!
Charged GBP 50 for parking
I parked in Halfords own car park and spent 1hr 4 mins to select and purchase a GPS worth GBP 200.
Today I received a parking fine of GBP 50 from their own parking company, stating I had exceeded the maximum time of 30 mins for their customers.
I read the policy today and it is a maximum 30 mins and no return within one hour. Maybe my fault for not reading the sign fully but I did not expect to be fined when I was shopping in their shop. Maybe I should be more concerned because a few days back I purchased a part for my bike and then went back to purchase additional items. Hopefully it was more than one hour between visits.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
