Delivery and installation of windows ordered back in late september 2020
I am still waiting on confirmation of delivery and therefore a schedule for installation of a nearly $23, 000 window order for my cabin located at 27 N Huron, AuGres, Michigan 48703
I talked to "Scott" the general manager out of Saginaw/Bay area office over two weeks ago and he could not provide me any answer on when to expect installation even though I was told at the time of the order it would be approximately 8-10 weeks...its now been 19 weeks.
I have left three voicemail messages with him over the last week still waiting to hear back from him.
This is not how you do business...I cant believe that you, as a company can not get some type of commitment on delivery of this large an order?

Full house window replacement
It's been less than 1 year and almost all the windows are failing. They will not close enough to latch. 2 visibly appear warped. It's been 3 days of trying to reach someone in service to set up an appointment to come out and see the windows. I put in 3 service requests and have not been able to connect with someone to get this resolved.
Originally I purchased windows in July 2018. They were not installed till January 2019. There were several windows in poor condition that needed to be replaced. It took 6 months for them to be repaired and now just 6 months later I am experiencing problems with the windows.
Less than 1 year my new windows are warping and some do not completely close to engage latches which indicates some issues. It's been already 3 days of waiting on hold for over an hour and not able to get hold of someone. They returned the call and left a message with a date of service that doesn't work with my schedule and now I am back into this horrible cycle of trying to reach a human.
It took over 8 months from the purchase of the windows to get them completely installed. The contractors they hire don't show up and/or did a poor job.
Siding
Ive been complaining about the siding they had their contractors install since before they finished, they would fix the little things and promised to fix the bigger things later, when I told them I wasn't going to pay until it was done right they threatened to put a lien on my house, they promised me they would fix the problems, I wrote a check out for$22, 303.00 and never heard a word from them, I have repeatedly put in service request, they did finally send out an inspector who said all of It has to come down and be replaced, he said it was the worst siding job he had ever seen ( the siding is buckling and falling off)and that Hanson's was going to lose money on this one, that was over a month ago, I have called several times to find out when they are going to get here and fix it, still nothing, this has been going on for 7 months now
they came out fixed some of the problems but in doing so created more...they screwed the window framing in that can cause water to get in behind my windows and cause the wood to rot and hurt my new windows that were excellently installed by Wallside they also shrunk the framing around some of the windows but not all so all the framing does not match, and the window framing is pulling away from the wall so water can get behind that...the Manager (Dana)refuses to repair it
The roof
They overcharged us, sales person said the roofing shingles were made just for hansons, and had a metal backing. That company employees would install our roof. All false. The roof was done so shoddy that we had to call the finance company to make sure that hansons could not charge us since nobody would call us back or even send the people out when they said...

Summer of 2019 1-800-Hanson installed a roof, but broke my vent fan in the kitchen that lets smoke out of the Kitchen. I have called for over a month, numerous times and they won't answer. When you finally get someone, they "put you on the schedule" for the fix but NOBODY will show up, they don't call. And when I call to find out why they send you to the same VM they don't answer.
Hansons windows service and promises are not what they need to be.
Hanson's installed windows almost 1 year ago, Installer did not insulate/seal out the windows properly causing water and air leaks. It is now the end of July 2019 and problems are not fixed.
Customer service is poor. There is always an excuse for why it did not happen. Over 8 visits to my house and 7 of the 9 windows still have not been corrected. I have been dealing with the scheduling department, superintendent, and even the manager of Hanson's but still no real progress.
They do not do what they say they are going to do. From return phone calls to fixing the problems.
If I knew that there would have been this much trouble and time wasted trying to get things corrected, I would not have picked Hanson's.
Tired of trying to get them to stand by their word and fix the problem. I would like a 100 % refund since there has been less than 25% of the problems completed in almost 1 years timeframe.
Roofing
As I am reading the other complaints they are installing paper and shingles while it is raining which voids manufacturers warranty and leaves me open for later issues. Hansons is a take your money and run company. Make sure you take plenty of before and after pictures. You will need them in court. And yes do not believe the salesman. If you have made the mistake that I did and hired them then make sure you control your inventory also. They are really good at blaming the subs that THEY hired for any problems and will immediately argue when it is on them. I can surely see where my 19000 roof is taking me next. Do not use them!
I am currently having siding put on by Hanson’s. When i was told most of the complaints I saw on line were other areas not my area of central Michigan. I was told Billy’s dumpster service would drop off a dumpster and they would pick it up and not to panic if it took them a couple days to get it. Well we are on day number 3 and no dumpster and trash piled everywhere. I live in a subdivision. People keep texting me about the mess. I am chasing garbage out of neighbors yard. No one will call me. They all say we are handling it, Someone will call you back. No one handles it and no one calls me back. No one on the job site speaks English. I tried asking them if they know where ea different style of siding is to go (I have vertical, horizontal and cedar shaker)and they said no. I asked who will show them? They told me Ryan - and so I asked how do I get a hold of this Ryan and the Spanish speaking gentlemen gave me his phone with Ryan’s number. I wrote down the number and called Ryan. Ryan claimed he was coming with a trailer and joe (somebody else) will be there soon. I said they are hanging siding and they don’t know where it all is to go. I have a specific look I am doing. Ryan said yes they won’t do those areas only the bottom! I have no idea what he means by only the bottom when most of my front will be the vertical. So I assumed he meant the back or sides? So I told him I had to go I wouldn’t be home until after 7pm and he assured me all will be done correctly and he will text me if he has any questions. I got home at 7pm and siding was on the front of my house and it’s the wrong siding! And no Ryan or joe showed up. So I called Ryan he claims he is soon to be at my house. 9:10 pm rolls around no Ryan but so much garbage. So I texted and said you can’t show up in my subdivision late at night banging things into a trailer. He said oh ok I am 2hrs away. So I guess he was going to show up after 11pm and starting loading trash? This company is absurd! I had my reservations about them and I am kicking myself for this! Don’t hire the company! No one helps you. The only positive of this is the Spanish speaking guys that are here are hard workers and they are very kind. I am assuming when you hire Hanson you are hiring them to find the company to put on the siding and they find anyone who says they can do it. Which is so funny because their sales pitch to me was “we don’t hire people like Home Depot, we hire people where this is what they do!” No doubt the guys hanging the siding know how to hang siding but they don’t know English and they were given no plans on where ea siding is to go and there so called “project manager, Ryan” is no project manager! The pictures I posted is what it has been like at my house with no dumpster.
Sliding door
Ordered a slindind glass door July7 came in September the day of they called said installer was sick. A window that has not been installed
We ordered 9 new windows in March of 2018. They installed 8 of these. One bedroom window was measured wrong (2X)! We are still waiting on this final window! One excuse after another! Each time it is scheduled to be put in, they call the day before and there is a PROBLEM! Who is running this company that a crew can tell them that "they are not going to that area". I am beyond pissed off and have told everyone NOT TO ORDER THROUGH HANSON'S! Worst experience ever!

People, be more careful and check all reviews about the company Hansons Windows and Siding. I also called them and asked if they would be able to replace all windows in my house. But I needed to do it very fast. They agreed and took the half sum of the total amount. After that they brought all new windows to my house and no one came back to fix it. It was terrible deal and I still haven’t got any response from them.
They didn't want to fix their mistakes
Byers, be aware! I have signed the contract with Hanson’s Windows and Siding. They installed 4 windows and I came to check the work. I noticed that one window was installed improperly and it started to leak. I checked others and I couldn’t even open them. I called their manager, but this man didn’t care and told that I signed the contract with them and their part of the job was done.
Improper, shoddy gutter replacement
I contracted with Hanson's to put on a new, life time guaranteed roof and new gutters. The salesman was a bit pushy, but most of what he said made sense. The roofing team, as with everyone else, was a subcontractor. I was given a start date, so I stayed home from work and waited. They never showed. Lori from Hanson's call the next day to ask how the roof work was going. What roof work? The next date I was given they did show up. I must say that the crew I had went straight to work, taking time to protect plants and other items in the year. I was nervous that they were going to gouge me for a bunch of new wood on the roof, but they never asked for a dime. The crew worked very hard all day, no 3 hour break times or anything. They had to come back the next day but once they were done, I really liked what they had done. Great guys. Now on to the gutters. Was given a start date. Never showed. I lost a half days pay. Given another date, no show. More pay gone. Given a date but I decide to go to work. To my surprise the gutters are up and the crew gone when I get home. Big mistake not being there. Tried to upload photos but this site wouldn't do it. Anyway, the first thing I noticed is that the metal fascia brackets are sitting on top of the roofing material, which means there are now holes in the brand new material. Not one other house in my neighborhood, and I drove up and down the street to check, has the brackets visible on top of the roof. Point One. Point two, went around to the back. Same issue with the brackets on top of the roofing material. However, and this took me about 30 seconds to figure out, is that the gutter itself in sloped from left to right, when looking at it. The downspout is installed on the left corner of the house. Now I'm not the professional, but shouldn't the downspout be placed at the lowest end of the slope, as opposed to the highest? We also found a bucket full of cut aluminum, long screws, brackets and other items lying about the yard. Hanson's calls and asks how good was the gutter install. So I tell them what we saw. She says, "Oh, sorry to hear that, I'll get in touch with our gutter people and we'll contact you with another date to come out and fix it". She then proceeds to ask me for the finally payment on the job. Are you kidding me I said. When the job is finished I will pay you. She says well, technically the job is "for all intent and purpose" completed I needed to pay. However, if you'd like to hold some money out until it is fixed, you can pay everything but $700". I've missed almost a full day's wages, am still cleaning up the yard, and have gutters that could have been installed by me. From the sounds of it I'm screwed, although I work for attorneys, and if this drags out I will be using them. If you can guarantee that you would get the roofing crew we got, and the quote is reasonable for you, I'd say use Hanson's. But for anything else, do it yourself or get quotes from other. LOCAL, companies. Not a happy camper.
Poor service and quality
This is the worst company ever! They do not return your calls, show up at your house randomly without a call and start measuring your doors outside if you are sleeping and do not answer the door for an unscheduled appt, The sliding glass door we ordered was to be two panels, we had a 8 foot 1 inch door with a 44 inch door opening. The installed a triple panel door with a 23 inch opening. This is not even code for an outside door opening! What legitimate company makes a door that small and not up to code. We were not asked if we wanted three panel door with opening in the middle; there was no communication! They offered to remake the door and 6 weeks later came with a door that had a dark tint and was 5 inches smaller. I want light! I asked for my old Pella door back as it was much better quality. The one lock fell off the next day and they forgot to install the foot lock and screen door lock. I went 2 1/2 months before the locks were finally installed. I had to put a piece of wood in the slider for safety! Cheap sliding doors and the worst service ever!
Rip-off
I worked here briefly as a salesman and I'd like to c=share my story for anyone who is thinking about going through this company for home improvements. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! They have built an elaborate scheme to charge you as much as possible for inferior products. They will give you an hour and a half presentation and give you 4 outrageous prices. After you pick your jaw up off the floor, they will try to get you to commit to one, then call in to see if you qualify for a "discount". Everything they say is scripted on both ends and guess what, you always qualify for a discount! If you keep saying no, they will keep making calls to lower the price, which will always be at least 20% higher than comparable products from similar companies.
ALWAYS GET AT LEAST 3 ESTIMATES BEFORE YOU GET HOME IMPROVEMENT WORK DONE! There are many companies looking to rip people off!
Overcharging / entrapment into contract
Had sales rep for hansons come to our house sat.the 16th and give us a quote to replace our roof. we have 2 layers already so we'll have to remove everything down to the wood. our salesman jason measured our house from the ground and came up with 30 squares. ( it's close) anyway my wife & I applied for financing through hansons due to the cost of the job, $20, 259.00 . 30 year shingle, 6' ice /water barrier and ridge venting. here's my complaint. thier paperwork states I/we have 3 business days to cancel the transaction without any penalty or obligation. they dated the transaction the same day he was here, the 16th... ok. We didn't know if we were going to be approved for this construction loan or not... 4 days later we get an approved letter in the mail not the phone call we were told we would get. IN the mean time, I'm checking material prices & other labor rates and found that hansons were very high priced. I called to cancel but was unable to contact anyone, so I left a message. Monday the 25th my wife contacted someone from thier office and said we would like to cancel thier services and was told we can't. If we do we'll have to pay ONE THIRD of the contract price. I was shocked. He said if we didn't pay it would go against our credit report & they would take us to court and win anyway. IS IT LEGAL to give someone a quote and hold them to a contract before even getting approved for a loan ? The last thing I discovered is this "construction loan" is in the form of a CREDIT CARD and comes with an 7.99% apr compounded monthly and is suject to maximum default rates. AND as I read the GE CAPITAL RETAIL BANK additional promotional plan details I find in thier sales slip completion tip box, new accounts the APR is 26.99%
DOES ANYONE HAVE SOME GOOD ADVICE (other than telling them to piss off)

I too was approved for a quote but then a few days later I got a response from synchrony financial stating that I wasn't approved. I don't know where I stand now. I do hope my quote didn't go through as these are crooks waiting in the bushes types of businesses. I will call salesman.

Nonperformance
Just got off the phone with a ranting and raving Brian Elias. We had a roof put on in April 2014. From the start, getting them to do the job took weeks. They gave us four different start dates and three of the times, they didn't show and they didn't call. Finally in April, the roof went on. We have now been waiting for three months to have a protective coat sprayed on the roof (which we paid for). Throughout several excuses, we thought they would show up last week to finally do the job. Temps were good, no rain, no wind. Again...they didn't show up, didn't call. So again we try to get someone on the phone to find out when the job will be done. At 2pm we were told that the job would be done by the end of the day. At 3pm, the story changed to 'it's too hot'. When I told Elias we expect the job to be done or he'd be in breach of contract, his response was 'go ahead. We'll go checkbook to checkbook.' I have never seen or heard a grown man behave the way he did on the phone. I certainly won't use Hansons ever again for any project and will be happy to share my experiences with friends, neighbors and family.
In all the years I've worked with contractors, I have never seen the low level of professionalism exhibited by Brian Elias and Hansons windows.

We went with Wallside. I had one window that had the seal pop, Wallside was out a few days later with replacement. Now that's a company that stands behind their work.
