*** sent us 4 collection notices for a medical **** we paid back November
sent us 4 collection notices for a medical *** we paid back November. I've called them 7 separate times and emailed them proof of payment twice, asking for follow up confirmations each time... and nothing. Their team has hung up on me 2x, put me on hold for 15 min then dumped to voicemail 2x as well. Their "system" was down for the last 2 phone calls as well, so they couldn't "do anything" to help. Based on other reviews, this is clearly by design so prepare to fight them for a long time. Also, write down the names of everyone you speak to and ask them to notate any updates or promises that they make. They are taking notes but may "not see them" when talking to you after they hang up on you. I fully expect to have to call back more times to confirm that they've taken me off their list.

The agent who called me regarding an unpaid medical **** was very rude, aggressive and disrespectful
The agent who called me regarding an unpaid medical *** was very rude, aggressive and disrespectful. I voiced concern about giving info over the phone because I recently had a fraud charge on my bank account. I asked for a website or reference number I could pay my *** online with and he became frustrated with me saying he does this all day every day. I acknowledged his frustration but again let him know if my situation and asked for the website and reference number. He finally gave it to me and said I probably wouldnt be able to pay it online and to call him back when I cant pay it. I immediately got on the website, paid my *** no problem. I get that collections isnt the best business to make calls with but most of us forget bills or are not at collections intentionally. Even if someone is thats not an excuse to be rude, aggressive. Especially when I was just asking to be able to get online to verify and pay. Which I did immediately.

My work phone number was previously used by an individual who Harris and Harris is attempting to contact. I have informed them five times that employee is no longer employed here and been told I would be taken "off the list" each time. Yet, they continue to call. This last call, I attempted to discuss that they continue to tell me that yet they continue to call and she hung up on me.
This company continues to call our business, typically after closing hours and leaves no message with regard to the purpose of the call. We believe they are soliciting business. We do not owe any debt. We are not seeking a collection agency's assistance. I want this business to take us off their call list. Their approach is very unprofessional and a waste of our time.
Received a text from this company saying I owed the state money. Called theyre number, they would not help me unless i gave them my SSN which i wasnt comfortable with. Called the state and found out i was the 6th person to call today concerning a text. The account number that was sent to me was for someone else. How they had my phone number i have no idea. The lady at the state said the same thing happened to 5 other people also. Make sure you know who to call before you pay anything. *** needs to get their info correct before trying to collect money. Its absolutely ridiculous to deal with this when i shouldnt have had to.
I was left a message about a medical collection
I was left a message about a medical collection. The collection was for a *** that wasn't run through the appropriate insurance. I asked if the hospital can pull it back. They told me no, I had to settle with them. Spoke to the hospital and sorted it out. They said they could pull it put of collections as long as it was this year.Called this place back and was told that the person meant that they couldn't send it back even though I literally asked if the hospital could pull it back and was told no, that once it's sent to them it's a done deal.Shady as all get out. Collections firms like this should face litigation themselves for their deceptive business practices. They're vultures who lie because all they care about is taking money. This law firm awful, and they don't mind lying. So whatever they say, assume they are lying and follow up with whoever the original *** is from, because harris and Harris certainly won't be telling anyone the truth. Shady and disgusting.

This company is a joke as all they do is give you the run around. paid debt in full and asked for a letter stating it would be removed from my credit report as I was refinancing. I was told an email would be sent in *** days. 45 days later and I still do not have it. Spoke to rude individuals almost daily who said that is not their policy even after i spoke with supervisors who confirmed I would receive it. Needless to say they are worthless and tell nothing but lies!
The company called me multiple times every day for a week. When I called to ask why, they had me verify myself. The lady kept asking for more and more information. I stated that i had verified who i was multiple times, and that i wanted them to stop contacting me. The lady i spoke to then got very rude and snippy. When i asked to speak to someone else i was placed a on 10 minute hold. When the "supervisor" answered i knew nothing was going to get solved. I asked for a copy of the call for my records. I was refused. Which is in violation of Privacy ***. As It does not fall under any of the protected circumstances named in section 49 through 55. I also live in a state where debt agencies are not allowed to contact more then the reasonable amount.
Terrible to deal with
Terrible to deal with. My account for a medical *** was sent to them because I paid and then the hospital refunded me in error and then sent me to collections. I called multiple timestrying to deal with it. *** referred me to them. They referred me to the hospital. They told me they would enter a dispute. I heard nothing for over 6 mos. Thought it was dealt with. Called back to be sure. No Then I was promised a supervisor call back. 3 weeks (plus) later. No call. Called back and requested a supervisor. *** was rude. Gave me one option to send my bank records. Couldn't just take the dates i made payments and verify. I refused. She said I wasnt listening. I told her I was listening but I'm not sending a collections agency my banking info. She told me when I'm ready to listen (to what she told me was my only option) to let her know and placed me on a hold (where she couldnt hear me). She talked over me but demanded I let her speak. When it was my turn to speak she interupted.Just awful service. "

For over 3 years this debt collector has robo called my home number several times a week. They leave a message but never provide the name of who they wish to speak to. My phone number is linked to 6 adults which include 4 adult children. I have never received any written mail regarding this company of the debt they wish to collect.
Absolutely terrible service. I called them in good faith and asked to make some sort of arrangements. I told them that I am terminally ill and want to take care of this before my time comes. The agent that answered didnt want to hear it. He kept interrupting me and laughed at me when I told him I had stage four cancer and do t have 3k lying around. Then I ask for a supervisor and he was worse than the first guy. I dont know about anyone else, but if someone called me trying to take care of the debt I would at least hear them out and not cut them off every-time they try to l speak. I have tried to call 4 times today to speak to someone with a little compassion and have either gotten hung up on or treated like trash. All Im trying to do is make things right before I die.
They call constantly and just leave a phone number. They are calling a business and do not leave any message of whom they are trying to reach just a phone number. When you call the number back the pre-recorded message gives you 3 options and none of them work, every one of the options just circles you back to the 3 options message. I would not even give them one star except that at least one has to be chosen to submit the review.
This company is horrible
This company is horrible. i swear, they look for people that owe debt and reach out to them stating they are representing the company for collection but they are NOT. If they are unable to send you a record of your conversation or of the payment schedule you are setting up with them, something is terribly wrong. I asked documentation regarding our conversation, and I was told: I can not provide you with any documentation regarding our call! Right, because you don't represent the company, your pulling reports and obtaining information on individuals who owe a debit! You are a scammer...Very shady company! And trying to collect a fee while you harass people. And even when you tell them that you are working out the debt with the debtor, they still harass you! It never stops and they won't let you speak to anyone else, People, if you receive something from them and you know it is a debt that is owed, reach out to the debtor! DO NOT WORK WITH THEM, DON'T CALL THEM, ANYTHING. This is how they are making there money!

I recently received a Delinquency Notification from this company for two photo red light violations, one 8/15 (Tuesday) and the other 9/19 (Tuesday) supposedly originally issued by the Philadelphia Parking Authority. On both of these days, I was at work for a very large communications/cable/internet company in Stamford, CT. Human Resources verified this as I am working for the same company, in the same location. They are seeking $350 in fines. I walked to work from [protected] in downtown Stamford. Our car was always in our secure, gated parking garage as we only used it on the weekends. It has never been driven by another person outside of our home and my wife doesn't drive or have a license due to medical reasons. Also, in the 3+ years, received no notice of this complaint, it's a scam. Please remove this immediately as we have good credit and this balance/fee/fine is not mine. I am asking Harris & Harris, Ltd. to clear the error immediately and send a letter verifying this for our filing cabinet. I did look you up, saw the A+ rating, so am cautiously optimistic of clearing this up immediately. Johnny Tomasi

My daughter had surgery, **** was sent to collections
My daughter had surgery, *** was sent to collections. This was fine. I called to set up what payment we could do at the time. We paid 2 months then received a settlement offer. I called, nice lady answered my questions. I thought that was great, about $4K less we'd have to pay. I spent the next few days collecting the funds, securing loan and making arrangements. I wanted to pay my debt. I mail in a $9K check. It has been 3 weeks and this check hasn't been cashed. So I call again. Lady on the phone advised me to stop payment. I was ok with that but asked if my offer was still good. She said yes. I was going to pay over the phone so we wouldn't run into this issue again. She said she has to get her supervisors approval. Ok... 20mins later. She comes back on and tells me the settlement letter I received on 5/6 was sent in ERROR! That offer could not be honored! Of course this is not her fault. I ask to speak to her supervisor. 20mins later on being on hold I hang up and stop payment on that $9K check. We were paying $200/month... NOW I want to just send $50/month. BTW... I have all the letters that have been sent to me."

This company treated me like a criminal over $100 ****
This company treated me like a criminal over $100 ***. I had originally had a $230 *** left from my heart surgery. I was paying $30 a month; along with paying on 4 other bills from this surgery. I had a budget and a plan I shared with the hospital in September. By November, I quit getting statements from the hospital. So I phoned the hospital and they said they had turned it over to collections because I didn't make the proper payment arrangements. I was never told I needed to. They just had originally told me my $30 was fine a month. When I called the collection agency, they were pretty rude about it like I was a thief. In December I phoned for my balance because I hadn't gotten a statement from *** The very rude representative from H&H informed me there would never be a statement. We were to just know what our balance was. All they cared about was that I had made a payment in November and said that acknowledged that I had a debt I owed them! This is a horrible company and I can't believe *** is using them for their collecting. Very disappointed in

The fact that ComplaintsBoard.com rates them A+ makes me question the usefulness of this organization
The fact that Complaintsboard.com rates them A+ makes me question the usefulness of this organization. *** is the worse collection agency to have ever existed. When I first got a call from them in early 2020, I immediately took the steps to figure out why this had gone to collections and tried to contact them within days with a solution; this was a medical *** that had never been sent to me (client acknowledged) and never sent to my insurance either. For months I tried calling and emailing to resolve this issue as my insurance was ready to pay for this ***. NO RESPONSE, NO CALL BACK. After many months, I decided to email their compliance and got an email from *** stating that my the account had been pulled by the client and I would not get a call regarding this *** again. On March 31, 2022, I get a call from H&H about the *** again. They claimed that they had nothing in their files that mentioned this had been removed. They kept putting me on hold endlessly and were very unhelpful. If this is not resolved by Friday April 1st, 2022, I will file a complaint with the *** about this debt collectors' misconduct.

Harris & Harris keeps calling my company' main line and leaving messages on the main voicemail: "This is Harris & Harris and we are attempting to collect a debt..." After calling them to ask the name of the employee so we can forward the call, we were told that they are not allowed to provide us that information. Excuse me? How do they expect an answer when they leave a vague message on the main voicemail, without identifying information, at a company with 6000+ employees? After phoning multiple times and providing them with phone numbers to be removed from their call list, we are still receiving voicemail messages. Still without any identifying information. If they would bother to listen to the call options, and choose the number to speak to the receptionist, we would be able to transfer the call to the employee, but they don't do that. After several calls to H&H they finally tell us the person whom they are trying to reach and that employee NO LONGER WORKS FOR US, yet they still keep calling and leaving voicemail messages on the main line. Do they realize they will pay an employee's salary and/or benefits in perpetuity because they will never reach the person from whom they are trying to collect a debt as long as they keep calling the wrong number? Get your act together H&H.

I have been harassed by this company for over 6 months
I have been harassed by this company for over 6 months. I had a bill received initially on 02/19, it was paid by check on 02/2. They cashed the check and continued to call me day and night. My bank then stopped payment on the check (funds were already removed from my account) and I again paid it on 05/28. That check was again cashed and funds removed from my account. It is now August 27 and they now have sold my debt to yet another debt collector service for the same bill I have now paid twice. I have 57 documented phone calls, 12 emails (all unanswered) and over 43 hours of telephone conversation attempting to rectify this situation. They now owe me money and are no longer responding to my calls and emails. I have no choice but to now hire an attorney to assist me in this matter and attempt to collect my overpayment. I have contacted the hospital in where this bill originated and notified them of the incompetence and unscrupulous behavior of this organization. My bill from the hospital was initially sent to my home from which I moved and was not forwarded to my new home therefore making me default on the payment. The bill from Harris and Harris was my first indication that I owed the hospital money. This was my first and hopefully last encounter with this type of organization.

This is legal trash
This is legal trash. Their complaint email address is bunk. Eff this company. Here is the situation I am dealing with: To whom it concerns, I just received a collection notice for something which I did not do. I politely ask that whomever is reading this to consider how they would feel and what you would do if you were falsely accused of something when there is photo proof of innocence. Facts: 2018, I received a traffic violation (_____) for turning right on a red arrow. The photo clearly shows my vehicle going STRAIGHT, not turning. I called. I was informed to write a letter. I wrote and sent a letter. I called a month later and was told it was received and everything was ok. I never received any further correspondence. I 100% did not turn left on a red as it was not possible. The street I would have turned on had a huge dumpster blocking it. It was not physically possible, so I went straight through a GREEN light. I do NOT owe $360 to you or anyone. The amount of time I have spent having to prove my innocence on the phone and on the computer today is 2.5 hours. I typically charge $300 for that amount of time. So I am now out that time/money. I humbly implore you to please assist me in making this wrong right, and to take a look at the photos. Thank you so much for your consideration, Dennis Earle ***. Feel free to call me with questions. D.J.

These people were attempting to collect money from me for unpaid taxes in Oklahoma when the taxes had already been paid to the State of Oklahoma!
These people were attempting to collect money from me for unpaid taxes in Oklahoma when the taxes had already been paid to the State of Oklahoma! They are a bunch of scammers. When I called the first time inquiring as to who they were, it sounded like an absolute scam. Then they started asking for personal information such as social security number etc. I refused to give it to them and so the woman said if I thought they were fraudulent then I could just hang up, which I did. I immediately *** to find that number 1 there are all kinds of complaints about this company and 2 apparently Oklahoma was dumb enough to hire them as a collection agency, which in itself should be against the law. Anyway, I retrieve my Letter from the Oklahoma *** showing that my taxes have indeed been paid, I owe absolutely nothing and I call the rude woman back. I tell her I want a fax number or email address to send a copy of the letter from the state. Her immediate reply was...oh well that account was removed from our records about an hour ago. Hmmmmm, a great miracle indeed. I just got their debt collector notice in the mail, I call them twice in less than an hour and all of a sudden my account has been removed in the past hour. Those lying people were trying to collect money that was not owed. Prior to posting this review, I read several of the complaints and Complaintsboard.com answers on this company. It is beyond me how the Complaintsboard.com can continue to give these fraudulent scammers an A+ rating. Shame shame shame. I also came across a *** news article discussing this same company and another company that have continually harassed and attempted to collect on debts not owed.
I had four phone calls with Harris and Harris, **** On the first call, I was unaware of a debt that I owed anyone
I had four phone calls with Harris and Harris, *** On the first call, I was unaware of a debt that I owed anyone. They could not tell me what it was except the company it was from. This was understandable. I verified my address, and Harris and Harris had the incorrect address. We fixed this issue, and the agent ended the phone call. I was expecting a letter in the mail with details of the ***. Several days later, I was contacted again and asked to pay my debt. I told them about the previous call and again stated I was unaware of the charges and felt uncomfortable paying them at that point. The agent said they could contact Providence and will get back to me with the information. I gave them my email address, and the call ended. 3rd call was a mess. The agent was terribly rude. I told them what had happened in the previous calls and that I was waiting for an email from them. The agent said that couldn't be true because of HIPPAA laws and that I was making excuses for not paying. I asked him to listen to the recordings of the calls to get his facts right. He called me a liar and that I was trying to get out of my ***. He advised I call Providence because Harris and Harris could not help me get the information I wanted. I called Providence, and they helped me. I found out what the debt was and called back Harris and Harris within hours. I confirmed with the agent in my profile with Harris and Harris that what happened to me in the first two calls was documented. She said it was and read it to me. The third agent was lying to me! I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life. It was disgusting. I paid my *** with the 4th call. To end the harassment and name-calling. This company should be ashamed of the way I was treated, and I hope that telling this story can prevent other people from feeling what I did at the hands of Harris and Harris, Ltc.

In May, I was involved in an auto accident which was not my fault
In May, I was involved in an auto accident which was not my fault. The result of the accident was my broken hand and totaled vehicle. Since my surgery in May, Harris and Harris has had my claim. They have failed to send it to *** (my personal insurance) for payment, which as a result, has led to my payment of over $2,000 in personal money to *** (where my surgery was performed) bills. *** (auto insurance of at-fault driver in accident) has been constantly asking for these claims to be released to ***, so they can be processed and paid. My settlement with *** is pending on the cost of these medical bills. *** will not close my case until they have a "final lien" of the bills related to this claim. I have no idea why Harris and Harris has had my claim for over a year now and has done nothing with it. I have been paying bills out of my pocket for an accident I did not cause. *** will not reimburse me for my payments until they have the claim released from Harris and Harris. How can they sit on a claim for over a year without doing anything? ***, *** and ***, as well as myself have all tried contacting this company in order for them to release the claim. None of us have had any luck. This is unfair and has cost me not only my own money, but my time in trying to get things straightened out with all of the above-mentioned companies. All of this headache comes down to Harris and Harris not doing what they need to do. They need to release my claims to *** who can process the bills, then send the final bill to ***. Please help! This is extremely frustrating and I am getting nowhere.
They have tried to contact my place of work and boss to try and extort the money that is supposedly owed to them. This form of contact is illegal in the *** and and further attempt will have to be taken as a form of harassment.
This debt collector is demanding I pay a debt that I know nothing about. I did not give them prior consent to contact me about any alleged debt. I also sent them a validation of debt letter over 35 days ago certified and still have not received a response. This debt collector has violated many laws.
I received treatment at a Northwestern Medicine UrgentCare in ***, *** on February 12, 2022. I paid a $60 copay to my insurance company, HealthScope Benefits, on that date. Despite numerous attempts to get Northwestern Medicine to review my insurance information and contact HealthScope for further inquiry, they hired *** to collect the total sum for the visit - $1,177.00. I have spoken with *** multiple times telling them that the claim is in process and there is nothing else I can do on my end, but they will not listen. They will not stop calling, texting, and sending letters to my residence. It's gotten to the point where they are calling me every day. I've asked them to stop, but they won't. I don't know what else to do to get them to stop harassing me.

For the past 18 months I have had a auto payment set up for my wife's account to debit my HSA card for $100 on the 15th of every month
For the past 18 months I have had a auto payment set up for my wife's account to debit my HSA card for $100 on the 15th of every month.. On May 6 I called and got the balance of her account and was told it was $1280. I asked to make a One-Time payment of $280 to get her balance down to $1000 and then asked for my HSA card to be deleted from auto-pay as my wife was going to call in and start setting up payments of her own. I was told by a Manager named Sandra that my card was deleted and was assured verbally(apparently they have no way of giving electronic confirmation) that my card would not be charged May 15th. Well May 15th rolls around and my HSA card was debited $100. I called and said let the payment stand but to get my card out of the system and off auto pay. Again I was assured verbally that my card was deleted by Sandra who is one of the managers and was told specifically that my card would not be charged in June. Well June 15th comes around and what happens, my HSA card is charged again $100. I called and spoke with Sandra who again verbally assured me that this time she voided my payment and deleted my card so it would not be charged in July. The $100 payment has now hard posted to my HSA account after again being assured verbally that the payment was voided. This company is completely incompetent and defrauds its customers. I find it very disturbing that we have to take their word that things are done instead of electronic email confirmation. This way they don't have to do anything they say. I want my $100 back and this time and I want a letter in writing that my HSA card will not be debited $100 on July 15th. Their word means zero actually less than zero. Patient # ***. Thank You, Chris

On December 28th, 2022, I contacted Harris and Harris about a 2010 tax issue of $2200
On December 28th, 2022, I contacted Harris and Harris to address a 2010 tax issue of $2200. I got their details from the Virginia tax office. After confirming my identity with my social security number, the representative discussed the Virginia tax matter. I mentioned not receiving any documents and proposed a $100 monthly payment until May to settle the debt. The representative became confrontational, threatening legal action. I was taken aback by the unprofessionalism, unaware of any legal proceedings against me. I put the call on hold, had someone join to monitor, and started recording, informing the representative of this. Once aware of the monitoring, the representative's tone shifted and he agreed to mail the documents to my correct address. I questioned the protection against such aggressive tactics and the handling of sensitive matters without accurate contact information. I felt I deserved an apology and a fair chance to resolve the debt.

We are receiving harassing phone calls daily from Harris and Harris Debt Collectors. This is a business. I have called the number they leave and have asked them to please stop calling our business. They said they would remove us, but have continued to call daily. They have already called 3 times today!
A toll bill was turned over to Harris and Harris for collection with the toll bill never having been delivered by mail.Initial contact from Harris and Harris was a mailed bill to my residence on or about the summer of 2022 with a $75 fee for tolls in addition to collection fees. That bill was returned with a check by mail and assumed resolved. Harris and Harris subsequently attempted contact on 22 Nov by text with a bill for $86 for the same toll and increased fees. That bill was paid by credit card by phone after the company representative explained there was no cashed check by the company.

I made payments to Harris and Harris on PAYMENT DATES: January 31, 2022, for the amount of $510.00 and April 5, 2022, for the amount of $105.00. I am the owner of a Refuse Collection Account and have made calls to inform them that my account is still delinquent as of today, May 24th, 2022. The payments made to this collection agency have not been reflected in my city Refuse Collection account. They have stated that it takes a certain number of days to update with the city. However, I have waited beyond that period, and my account remains delinquent. I have also spoken to the supervisors listed below over a certain period, but this collection agency has not corrected my Refuse Collection account, resulting in violations and late fees for non-payment. I have attempted to bring this account current through phone and email, but I am directed to make further calls to ensure payment and update the account. If they cannot provide proof of resolution and steps to bring my Refuse Collection account current, I am requesting a full refund to pay my account in person. I have provided proof of the account's delinquency until this month and proof of payments made to this company.

We continue to get recorded messages from this company with no information about any account, an amount allegedly owed, nothing in the mail or via email. No idea what this is for or why we keep getting these messages. It's been going on for at least a year, 3-5 X/week at least. Please stop!
This company continues to call me but can't provide anything to show that what I owe. They are very very rude and not professional when they call. They will call EVERYONE but the person that the so called debts name is in. They can't tell me what happened on the day of the so called bill. All in all they are very very rude and can't provide me with any information.
This company garnished my wages over 20 years ago for unpaid parking tickets
This company garnished my wages over 20 years ago for unpaid parking tickets. All tickets were eventually settled. No recent tickets, including those from 2018, were listed on my record when I received a new ticket. My driver's license was suspended over two decades ago due to these tickets and was not reinstated until they were paid. The company later issued me a refund for over-collecting from my pay. Despite filing for bankruptcy, these old tickets resurfaced on my record. I was directed to A&O Recovery, linked to the bankruptcy firm, and was told that tickets older than three years could be dismissed if I joined a payment plan for my current tickets. After emailing them as instructed, I received no response. I don't need a plan for my current tickets as they are being paid. Joining a payment plan would supposedly remove the older, invalid tickets from my record. The representative suggested this could take time and offered the plan, which seems like a tactic to earn a fee from my current payments. I contacted them on February 11, 2022. Another representative, who claimed to work with the first, contradicted his statements and confused the issue by focusing on current matters instead of the past garnishment. It's clear to me that the company is aware I don't owe these old tickets and is fraudulently trying to collect. I have a case number if needed. I called again on February 11, 2022, at 9:23 am to inquire about the first representative's title, but after being told I would receive a call back with the information, no one returned my call. I demand the removal of the tickets from over 20 years ago from my record as they have been paid.

In the last week, I received a call from a Chicago number I didn't recognize
In the last week, I received a call from a Chicago number I didn't recognize. I thought it was a spam call. After the second time I called back to see what the deal was. A woman picked up from Harris and Harris stating she was a bill collector. I asked her who she was looking for. She asked for my phone number that had been previously called and no message had been left. She stated they were looking for *** about an ambulance bill from 2015 and 2016. She asked me twice is M Street Washington DC was my address. I said no. In fact I haven't lived there since July . This was the first time anyone from this outfit attempted to call me. I told her that I had no idea if the ambulance bill was legit. She stated my insurance paid for part of it and there was an amount due. I said I'd have to look into it since it was so long ago. I asked her to send me the details in writing to my new address in Syracuse NY which I gave her. She told me I'd have 30 days to respond once I got the letter. My concern is whether they've been sending notices to my old DC address that I haven't lived at since July . I have pristine credit and I want to keep it that way. I have no idea if I owe this bill if I indeed owe it and the amount she stated then I will handle it but I need to look at the details first. I read online about Harris and Harris and there were many negative comments. I simply getting on the record that this is the FIRST time I have had ANY contact with them over the phone and I have NEVER received any written notification from them about this matter BEFORE. I will look out for their written letter in the mail in the next few days and proceed from there but I simply wanted to make sure that I was stating all this for the record considering the negative comments about the company online. I am not asking you to do anything at this time.
Received a letter from Harris and Harris *** stating I owe a debt of $544.85
Received a letter from Harris and Harris *** stating I owe a debt of $544.85. I paid it in full right away on Thursday August 23rd, 2022, at approximately *** pm. Call was taken by a lady who spoke her name so fast and "blurrily" - like the phone line went weird or something - that I couldn't hear it. She sounded so angry already that I was intimidated into not asking her to repeat her name (now I really wish I had). She verbally confirmed payment in full made, and also verbally confirmed that since I've paid in full today, this will *notgo on my credit report. She asked if I wanted a confirmation number; I said yes; she said "the number is-" and then the line went dead. I called back, the phone wouldn't even connect, just dead air. I tried a couple more times, eventually got some guy who, again VERY BLURRILY/FAST, said his name was something that sounded like "***" (?). I gave my info and asked for my confirmation number. He said "okay, the number is-" and then I got kicked off the line AGAIN. I have now called back TWELVE TIMES, their system won't even let me through. Either it wouldn't connect at all, just more dead air, or I'd get partway through the automated answer service and it would kick me off the call before it even got to 'press 3 to speak to a representative'. TWELVE TIMES and it won't ever let me even press 3 to speak to someone. Have tried all other numbers I can find on the internet for them, even their own customer assistance line, nobody answers/more dead air. I sent a message through their website requesting a confirmation stating 'paid in full', let's see if I EVER get one (I doubt it.) This is incredibly dodgy behavior. Why won't they give names? Why does their system kick me off the line every time I call back now? This is INSANE. I bet this WILL go on my credit report despite what the first woman told me twice (that it won't, since am paying today.)

I just received my Credit Report from a reporting agency
I just received my Credit Report from a reporting agency. I have THREE different Derogatory marks on my Credit report from Harris & Harris LTD. All THREE derogatory marks have different account numbers with Harris & Harris. On 4/3 at 2:34PM and was on the line for 14 Minutes, I called Harris & Harris to attempt to pay and close one of the three accounts. Speak to a 'Mrs.' I provided my personal information in order for her to pull up my account info. When I asked to pay off one specific account reported on my Credit Report, I was informed that all of my outstanding balances would have to be paid in full before that specific account would be removed from my Report. I was informed that they have 6 accounts for me, but they are lumped together. The accounts were opened on different dates of service and from different original creditors. I then asked to speak with a supervisor, knowing I was not getting accurate information. Suddenly, Mrs.'s 'System Froze' and suggested I call back in 10 minutes. On 4/3 I called again at 2:49PM and was on the phone for 19 minutes. When they answered I immediately asked to speak to a supervisor. When I finally got a gentleman on the phone I provided my personal information so he could pull up my accounts and information. The gentleman confirmed he found my information and read off all 6 different amounts for my open accounts. I then read off the information for the specific account I desired to settle (Dates, Amounts, Origins, and Specific Account Number) and said I want to pay off that account and suddenly he hung up. Harris & Harris is stating I must pay ALL accounts in full before anything will be removed from my Credit Report, even though they themselves clearly reported three different accounts to the reporting agency. These different accounts are hurting my score separate and in an attempt to corner me the consumer are refusing to provide me the services they provide.
This debt collector called today (1/8/22) at around nine am
This debt collector called today (1/8/22) at around nine am. They told me and my mother that I had a *** with them and asked for permission to discuss this with my mother. I gave permission and asked why they hadnt properly recorded my previous permission for them to speak with her and was not given an answer. *** was rude and condescending and would not let us talk and when we tried to he told us to stop interrupting him. We were only trying to get clarification on the things he was saying because he was all over the place. He told us that it was a *** from providence saint *** hospital which I have never been to. We asked him to clarify the name because I have been to saint *** but the nearest saint *** is four hours away from us and is not a providence facility. He said thats all he could tell us. I asked for the address or city of the hospital and he couldnt give us that, I asked for the phone number or name of the physician and he couldnt give us those. He provided us with a case number to give to the hospital to get more information which could have been helpful if we knew what hospital he was talking about. He claimed to have never heard of saint *** when just a month ago when we had spoken with them they were billing for saint ***. They said our previous bills were also under saint *** but had previously told us saint ***. We were also trying to get confirmation that the previous payments we had sent in were being put towards my bills because they had not sent us confirmation for those payments and were continuing to call us with the same balance although we were paying. He started out by saying they had received one check and then backtracked and said they received three. We have sent a total of six checks that have been shown as cleared in our bank so why are they not being shown in their system? They do not have enough information to be collecting these debts and have been harassing us as weve been paying.

On 08/23/2022 I called Harris and Harris *** to inquire about a letter they had sent me about an unpaid medical bill I was unaware of
On 08/23/2022 I called Harris and Harris *** to inquire about a letter they had sent me about an unpaid medical bill I was unaware of. I called *** and hit the option to speak with a representative. My reference # is ***. I don't remember the name of who I spoke with but as soon as I said my name he cut me off and said I have your phone number so with that I see your name, your address, your debt, everything. I said okay and then inquired about the debt and again he cut me off very forcefully saying that I had to call my employer to see why they didn't pay it since it was filed as *** comp. Once he was done yelling over me, I was finally able to get my original question out which was about my secondary insurance. In my experience in billing, I was told it was not a legal thing to send someone with *** to collections. All I did was ask about it and he laughed at me and said that they had been in business for 60 years so obviously they knew what they were doing and that every call is *** or *** people, no matter what I thought I knew. At this point, I was absolutely shocked at how rude he was being . I told him I wasn't trying to argue with him, I was just asking and he scoffed again and made me feel very stupid. He then yelled at me that fact of the matter is, its my debt and I have to pay it. Which is all well and good, that is his job but this guy was so unnecessarily aggressive. I then just said for future reference don't laugh at people its really rude, then I hung up before he could yell at me some more. The entire interaction was less than 4 minutes but he was so rude and condescending and accusatory, I'm sure it will stick with me for a long time. After I hung up, I felt physically ill. My hands are still shaking as I type this. I work in billing and customer service and that was abysmal. I can't believe he gets paid to talk like that. Thanks for the reminder that women are second class citizens I guess.

On 6/16, I set up an automatic payment schedule with medical provider
On 6/16, I set up an automatic payment schedule with medical provider. The balance on bill was $2,227.00. On the same date, I made a payment of $727.00. On July 3rd, another payment was made to provider for $500.00-balance remaining was $1000. Later in July, I received notice from Harris that they were now collecting the balance due of $2,227.00. I contacted them and after much discussion, it was confirmed that I only owed the remaining balance of $1,000. I agreed to make 2 monthly payments of $500 each to satisfy the debt. I made a payment to Harris on 8/3 of $500.00 and I made another payment on 9/7 of $500.00. However, near the end of Sept, I received notice that the 9/7 payment was returned. When I started reviewing my bank records, I discovered that the medical provider had also taken payment from my account for the remaining $1000 balance on 8/5 and on 9/3. Apparently, the auto withdrawal was not cancelled so they continued to collect the scheduled payments. When I contacted Harris on 9/29 about my overpayment for the month of August, their only concern was about the returned check for September and when I was going to make it good. Despite my best efforts to convey that they collected an extra $500, no one would listen to my explanation, and it became a shouting match! As instructed, I emailed proof from my bank of all the payments made to both the provider and Harris--the payments totaled $2,727 ($500 too much). On 9/30, I contacted the provider to verify that they had in fact been paid in full, and i was told that they provided this information to Harris. Called Harris on 10/2 for update on my refund, and I was told that supervisor Hugo was researching payments with the finance dept. On 10/9 I talk to super Hugo. He refused to allow me to talk, repeating the same thing, but I think it finally clicked what I had been trying to tell them and what the documentation i provided supports! I keep getting the run around and want a refund of my $500.
I reviewed my Credit report as I often do, and I now have a Derogatory mark on my Credit report from Harris & Harris
I reviewed my Credit report as I often do, and I now have a Derogatory mark on my Credit report from Harris & Harris. I contacted Harris & Harris by phone on 1/12 at 2:43PM and was on the line for 18 Minutes speaking to Mr. West in attempt to make payment and close the acct that was on my credit report in the amt of $1148 as it should have never been reported because this debt was to be paid by my MEDICAL INS. I provided my personal info in order for him to access my acct. When I asked to pay off the 1 specific acct reported on my Credit Report for $1148, I was informed that all of my outstanding balances would have to be paid in full before that specific acct would be removed from my Credit Report. I was informed that they have a total of 10 accounts for me (1 large amount acct for $1148 and 9 smaller amount accts) and they are all lumped together. The accounts were opened on different dates of service and from different original creditors. I then asked to speak with a supervisor, knowing I was not getting the accurate information. Mr. West became defensive and advised me that I would just be told the same thing when transferred, he was rude, bullying, and over-talking and said that he was transferring me to a supervisor but instead the call was disconnected. On that same day 01/12, I called back again at 3:21PM and was on the phone for 8 more minutes. When they answered, I asked to speak to a supervisor again however I was transferred right back to the same person that I had spoke to before, not a supervisor. Again, I advised him of the specific acct that I desired to pay/settle because it was ruining my credit score erroneously as my MED INS should have paid it. He gave me no other options. Harris & Harris is stating I must pay all accts in full to have 1 removed. This is hurting my credit score drastically. And in an attempt to corner me, the consumer, they are refusing to provide me with appropriate svc to clear this up. Very bad business practice
I called today to make a payment because I received a letter and it seemed evident that I had to call
I called today to make a payment because I received a letter and it seemed evident that I had to call. I recognized the debt, but didn't know it was sent to a collection agency. Upon calling, I was given an option to make 3 payments which I advised I could not afford. I advised what I would be able to do today, and what I could do from month to month - which was dismissed. She just kept ignoring it and coming back to the 3 payments. At this moment, I realized this was going to be a problem. She also kept slipping the phrase "this is the payment plan that is agreed upon" in at the end, and I stated every time that I DID NOT agree to it. Very bullish and very childish games. Also shows how unwilling they are to work with someone. The rep also SAT in silence on the line for more than two minutes - insisting that she was under the impression that I was getting my card info to make the $300+ payment. CHILDISH GAMES. I was appalled. I asked for a supervisor, and she disappeared for 15 minutes - again CHILDISH GAMES, only to come back with "We can accept what you can afford to pay from month to month, if you pay $300+ down payment." I'm going to repeat this one more time for you Complaintsboard.com - CHILDISH GAMES. I spoke with a supervisor who refused to acknowledge that he understood what I was saying to him when I told him multiple times "I can't afford your payment plan. I can afford XX right now, and XX a month." I told him to take it or leave it. He never agreed to my payment plan - instead seemingly taking payment for the amount I advised (but I suspect he took the $300+ and if he did, I am suing). I have yet to see the charge hit my account - so it's also plausible that he didn't process any payment. READ CHILDISH GAMES. I work full time, and they're only open when I'm working. I have to take time to call them - and they're playing games for whatever reason, when they should just be taking what I can pay. I'm appalled that Complaintsboard.com endorses them, but it's obvious that's a paid deal.

2/18/2022 To Whom It May Concern, I am representing myself regarding credit report issues.
2/18/2022 To Whom It May Concern, I am representing myself and I am the consumer in fact and not a third party. I am communicating with you directly as requested regarding concerns/issues with my credit report. This letter represents my formal request to again dispute the aforementioned accounts as well as inquiries which are illegally being reported on my account. It was communicated to me to reach out to each individual agency to expedite the removal. As of the date of this letter, it has been over thirty days with no compliance to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) enacted by Congress. By their findings, it is now my legal right to have these accounts and inquiries removed. I understand the individual in receipt of this letter is most likely not an attorney. Therefore, I have attached the laws and definitions to educate any person of my legal rights. I appreciate you understanding how this adversely affects me and is in violation of my rights. Thank you for helping me take this federal matter seriously! Accounts Requiring Immediate Removal: I am disputing a debt you claim I owe of $170.24 that is reporting as a Collection/Charge Off. Be advised this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, stating your claim is disputed and validation is requested. This is NOT a request for verification or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above-named Title and Section. I respectfully request your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. At this time, I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion), this action may constitute fraud under

I was contacted by a number linked to a debt collection agency on 9/27/22 and 9/28/22
I was contacted by a number linked to a debt collection agency on 9/27/22 and 9/28/22. Neither time did they leave a message. When I called back, the man claimed to represent a collection agency. He alleged I owed over $300 for an unpaid 2010 ticket. Requesting debt validation, he dismissed it as stalling. He implied government affiliation, saying they 'work with the government.' He denied direct state validation, insisting on dealing with him. No prior debt notices in 12 years were mentioned. His aggressive tone escalated when discussing the violation. After multiple calls and a brief message, I answered to inform him of my intent to verify the debt with the state, which I did and settled. I would then contact the agency for payment arrangements.

calls our business line once or twice a day. They are never actually on the line just a recording saying we need to call them. Not going to call them. Our company doesn't have any outstanding debt. They are an ANNOYANCE
Absolutely rude customer service. I have been redirected so many times or hung up on by representatives. Managers were never available when customer service representatives did not handle call with professionalism. I am very disappointed in the level of service and professionalism to handle a simple manner that is not even my reasonability.
Over a bill from Promedica for $55...my credit score went from good to fair! They took my credit score down 64 points. It's $55! Really? Been building my credit up for years. Didn't have any extra money nor did I think $55 owed for medical would do that. What a joke! It says if I pay in FULL I only get 25 points back...ooo yay...eye roll! I have no other collections on my account. Only one voicemail from *** which sounded like a scam, so I ignored it. Now this. Unfair and unprofessional! You want people to pay a debt? Give all the points back then! Won't be in any rush to pay this now.
