Harvard Collection Services Received alert on my credit report showing a collection account for $300

Received alert on my credit report showing a collection account for $300. I do not or have heard of this company. I looked them up online and called TWICE with no resolve. The first call I was on hold for 37 minutes someone pick up the line and then hung up. The second call I was on hold for 1hr 53 minutes and still did not get to speak to anyone. This has caused my credit score to drop drastically. No one has notified me of anything verbally or in writing and I have been the one calling to find out what is this about with no resolve. I want this removed as this is inaccurate, fraudulent and in violation.

Harvard Collection Services prematurely reported to credit agencies that I failed to pay a debt to State of Illinois Department of Human Services. This could not be possible because: 1. Per the letter I received from the State of Illinois Department of Human Services was dated 2/26. 2. The date given within the letter from the State of Illinois Department of Human Services afforded me until 04/26 to pay entire amount or make arrangements. 3. I have proof of the State of Illinois Human Services receiving payment, priority mail tracking and receipt of delivery. 4. Cancelled check from my bank, and stamp on check from State of Illinois Department of Human Services proving they received. 5. How could Harvard Collection Services possibly received notification that I had not paid as of 03/27? April 26th has not even past. This is VERY serious. How can a collection company not have checks and balances? Who authorized them to place this false information on my credit report? This matter is not something to be taken lightly, I am current on all of my bills, despite the current economic climate. I am sure this is nothing more than them trying to scam monies. I am awaiting a response from Harvard Collection Services to find out what happened, receive a formal apology, and have this removed from credit agencies ASAP! There error can cause me even more hardship than I already have. Harvard Collection Services actions seem extremely illegal.

I received a credit alert from Credit Karma, Advising me of new activity on my Transunion credit report. Upon review I noted a new collections (Harvard Collection Services) opened 2/1 this is for $2,627; for: (04 IL Department of Human Service). This is impossible I have no dealing with this agency for I am an Indiana resident and have been for almost 20yrs. This has significantly reduced my credit score.. I have worked very hard to maintain a Good credit history with 100% pay rating with all my creditors, even in this pandemic.. This is fraudulent and has nothing to do with me I would appreciate if this fraudulent activity is removed from my account.. I have no know dealings with this Agency.. I would also suggest that Transunion be more diligent with their reporting.. and accuracy.. This is causing consumer unfair distress and hardships.. and is subject to class action lawsuit Sincerely Gina

Harvard Collection Services I have never been spoken to by a representative the way Francisco *** spoke to me when I was seeking to reduce a monthly payment

I have never been spoken to by a representative the way Francisco *** spoke to me when I was seeking to reduce a monthly payment. While I understand there are certain restrictions making it complicated for him to do such a thing, the tone in which he spoke to me explaining those restrictions was uncalled for. His response when I acknowledged his unprofessional tone was that he was treating me like any other collector would. In my past experience, not one representative has spoken to me in such an unprofessional tone. He mentioned his 15 years with the company, I hope no one else has had to endure such mistreatment while trying their best to pay off a debt.

This is almost an illegal company that uses phones to harass seniors on money they 'DON'T OWE", through lies and verbal intimidation they try to collect money that is either paid on an old account or past the time period to be in collection, by renewing the debt with collection dates that are decades old with new dates to credit agencies. They also use the good name of the Better Busines Bureau in their advertising by using their logo on their web site. Contact you congressman, state rep., or senator to put a halt to these illegal practices. I AM A VETERAN AND DEFENDED THIS COUNTRY AGAINST PEOPLE LIKE THIS THAT TRY TO STRONG ARM SENIORS ON THE PHONE TO PAY ON OLD OLD DEBTS THAT ARE NO LONGER COLLECTABLE OR DEBTS THAT WERE PAID OFF MANY YEARS AGO AND SENIORS NO LONGER HAVE RECORD OF PAID DEBTS. They did and do his in communist countries. This is America!

On April 23 Harvard Collections placed a "collections" on my credit report in the amount of $457.00. I never heard of this collection agency nor had I received any calls or letters from this agency prior to them placing a debt on my credit report. I've tried calling them and there's no answer or a get a recording after holding on instructing me to press a number if I approve of my message. What message? I left no message. I disputed this with the credit bureau and the only response I got back is that the debt has been verified. Exactly what does this mean. It shows that the debt is from the I ***. If this is what I think it is. This would be a debt from 37 years ago. I do believe there's a statute of limitations on a debt. My biggest complaint is that they put this on my credit report and I had an excellent credit score, reducing my credit score and never contacted me for payment. I would think this practices are not within the states guidelines.

This company claimed I owe money for certain services and it was placed on my credit report, which caused a negative effect on my score. I have not lived in that location in over 40 years. I received no phone calls or mailings prior to them just adding this to my credit report. I contacted this company and was given the run around and I finally reached a person to ask when this was supposed to have taken place? I was informed that a mailing was sent to an address that belonged to my Grandmother, who has not lived at that address for many years, before adding it to my credit report.

I have filed a report with the postmaster to prevent my mail from being sent to fraudulent addresses after discovering that I have been a victim of identity theft. Despite uncovering mail theft in my neighborhood, I am still being held accountable for accounts I did not open. I also found an account that I believe is not mine:

Account name: HARVARD COLL (Original Creditor: DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICE)
Account number: 3031
Date opened: 06/01/2022
Balance: $2,630.00

I am not liable for this debt and I do not have a contract with the following company:

Company: HARVARD COLLECTION SER
Address: [Redacted]
Telephone Number: [Redacted]

I have also filed complaints through the CFPB. Please delete this account from my credit report immediately. For any questions or concerns, I can be reached at my contact information on file and email at lesainant@gmail.com. I am awaiting a response from the company.

Harvard says account has been purchased by Recovery Exchange LLC. Current creditor: Recovery Exchange LLC, Original Creditor, HSN. Original amount owed is $39.96 and they would settle for $27.97. Creditor Account, original account number, and identification have been provided. I have, and do not owe any past due amounts to HSN. I called them on August 24, 2022, and they confirmed that there is no record of a purchase with a past due balance or one that is owed with them. I pay my bills monthly and do not even recall a purchase that this claim could be associated with, nor does HSN show any money owed by me or any submissions to a debt collector on my behalf. I want to ensure that this has not been reported to any Credit Bureaus, and if it has, that it be removed immediately to prevent any negative impact on my credit score. That is all I request from this claim.

I monitor my credit regularly and as of a day ago I had no collections and no past due amounts. As of today (8/30/22), however, I discovered that my score had dropped drastically as a result of a "new account" from a company called Harvard Collections. I have never heard of this company and was never contacted by them at any time so it made no sense that this would be on my credit report. Furthermore, it shows that this is an account they claimed I had with them since June *** contact with them so how can that be and how can they just have a collection on my credit reports that I know nothing about and with zero correspondence? This was posted to my credit report 8/30 and I am seeking assistance to have this collections account of theirs removed from all of my reports immediately and to complain about their manner of doing business as it appears that this is not an isolated issue and the legality is highly questionable.

On April 17, I received an alert from a credit monitoring service, informing me that there is negative activity on my credit report which has caused my credit score to decrease. After reviewing my credit report, I noticed 1 new account, Harvard Collection Serv., an agency which I had never heard of, had no contact, nor any business affiliation. After further review, I ascertained that Harvard Collection Services has reported to the credit reporting bureaus, as an account with a balance of 1820.00, naming IL Department of Human Services as original lender, which I have not had an account nor debt with. There are no reported details regarding, account type, date, payment history, Reporting derogatory/damaging information to credit bureaus is unlawful as it violates the guidelines of the FCRA and FDCPA, whereas Harvard Collection Services failed to validate the debt. I am appalled that Harvard would use such harmful and unfair practices, which they are aware, violates the law.

Harvard Collection claims a $2350 debt on account ***. They list no monthly payment. They have never contacted us. We discovered this while trying to refinance. We called them today. They refused to give us any info but demanded we give them all of our personal info. Which we did not do. When we asked to speak with management the conversation became rude and defensive. We want this false claim removed from all 3 reports immediately.

I received a collection letter from this company regarding a debt associated with a certain Services company. As soon as I received the letter, I contacted the company to negotiate a settlement to satisfy the debt. In addition, I sent multiple letters requesting a written response so that I could arrange to begin the settlement process. Despite my efforts, I never received a reply, and the debt was reported. All of my actions were taken well within the 30-day timeframe before any reporting was supposed to occur, yet it was reported regardless.

This company appeared on my credit report in February , claiming that I owe the Illinois Department of Services an amount exceeding $11,000. I have not resided in Illinois for years and have not received any mail or phone calls regarding this collections account. At no point did the Illinois Department of Services inform me of any outstanding debt. I request that this item be removed from my credit report.

I received a notice that my credit score suddenly went down for the past two months, April and May . There is a report filed with *** by a collection agency called Harvard Collection Services that I have never heard of, and have never received any mail from them, or from any other entity for the amount of $647. I do not recognize this and have never been billed for anything like this in my memory. I do not know what this is for, but now looking at this website, with other complaints from this and last month regarding the same issue, I do believe that it must be some kind of scam. They appear to be saying this is money owed to the State of Illinois--I have not lived there since the 90s, and filed for ***, and do not have debts before that point. I don't know what to do about this but someone should look into it. I am going by other complaints that I have read on this site about this collection agency. How can they report you when they have never contacted you?

This company sent me an attempt to collect after I already paid the debt with the state. I purchased a car online and it was not handled properly and I wound up owing the state $187.00. I paid the amount on 12/27/2022. The company's letters are dated 12/29 and 12/30 where they both acknowledge that I paid them but tacked on an extra $33.52. I have confirmed with the state that I owe them nothing (including this $33.52), balance was paid in full. Company angrily insists that I owe them $33.52 though I have done no business with them, and the state has verified my account was not in collection the day I paid it. I would like this company to cease all attempts to collect this debt and not report it to any of the credit reporting agencies as it is a scam, since they tried to purse a debt that was already paid off.

I previously had an account with Harvard Collections which was settled in full as of December 24. On the 15th, I received a letter claiming that I had spoken with a representative on January 13th, which is untrue as I had no communication with anyone from the agency. Upon calling them to report suspected fraud due to the letter, the representative informed me that the sender was unavailable. However, I was able to express my concerns about potential fraud. The representative mentioned that because of my previous account, they transferred the balance to a new account and planned to deduct my old balance. I objected, stating that such an action is illegal and that they did not have my permission to debit my account. Despite not having received any written notification about a new account, I discovered that a withdrawal had been made from my bank account on January 24, without my consent. I demand a refund and wish to sever all ties with this company.

After checking my credit report on credit karma on 05/26 an amount was placed on my credit report for the amount of $2787.00 from the Illinois Department of Human Services. I put a dispute into all 3 credit bureaus on that same day. I contacted Harvard collection agency regarding this collection which was placed on my credit 02/01. I was told that is was an overpayment of assistance from 06/1990 to 12/1990. I was a single parent and any benefits obtained were in compliance with department rules and guidelines existing at time of issuance. In the past 30+ years I have never received and documentation or court order signed by a judge regarding this matter. What applicable statute are they operating under. According to the State of Illinois the legal statute of limitations are 5-10 years and in some cases up to 15 years. I demand that this collection be removed from all 3 credit bureaus and any further attempts to collect this so called 30+ year debt be removed and this closed.

Harvard Collection Services Harvard Collection Service wrongly claims I owe $901 to a government agency.

In May , I received a letter from Harvard Collection Service claiming I owed $901 and had been placed in collections by a government department. When I contacted the department, they confirmed I owed nothing. Despite this, a Credit Karma alert on 5/10 showed a collection reported by Harvard, causing a 96-point drop in my credit score. Further calls to the department reaffirmed I owed nothing, and they were unaware of Harvard Collection Service. Online research revealed over 130 similar complaints of false reporting by Harvard, particularly in May . I have been unable to reach the company via the provided phone number and urgently need this issue resolved and removed from the three credit bureaus.

I paid a *** on Monday 08/30, requested an emailed receipt, and was told that the receipt would be emailed to me by 1 PM that day. Tuesday 08/31 I still had not received a receipt of payment, so I called the collections agency and let the representative know and he told me I would have to wait a 24 hours before getting a receipt. I then told the rep that it had in fact been *** the system, apologized, and said I would receive an emailed receipt by the end of the day (08/31). Wednesday, 09/01, I still have not received a receipt. I call the agency yet again and let the rep know. The *** the request was never put in once again and says he will send a request and I will receive a receipt in 4 days.. I told him I needed an emailed receipt, we verified my email address once again and the rep said I should receive the receipt by the end of the day today (09/01). We'll see.

I received a notification from my credit reporting agencies that my rating has plummeted by 84 points due to a $110.00 collection claim submitted by Harvard Collection Agency. I have never received notification via mail, email or a telephone call on this matter. In fact, I do not know what the matter entails. My telephone number and address for my current address for the past 8 years are public, but somehow, I was not contacted. I logged into my medical billing account and verified I have a zero balance. All utility bills and credit cards reflect a excellent payment status. I am at a loss to where I have an unpaid balance. I attempted to telephone this company, but could not reach a representative. This company's reviews are absolutely horrible and now I see why because they place matters on your report without contacting the consumer to ensure the matter is a legitimate collection, that they have the correct person or provide any proof/confirmation of any debt. A dispute is not the only step I will be take in this matter as this should have never been allowed to affect my credit report.

THIS COMPANY HAS PLACED 4 SMALL BALANCE MEDICAL SEPERATE COLLECTION ACCOUNTS ON MY CREDIT DATED 01/20. I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE WHAT IT IS IN REGARDS TO. I HAVE NOT SEEN A PHYSICIAN IN OVER A YEAR. I FIND THIS ABSURD TO PLACE 4 SEPERATE COLLECTIONS AVERAGING A LITTLE OVER $150.00 EACH. Re-aging debt is when a debt's status changes on credit reports to make it appear as a newer debt. It is illegal for debt collectors to re-age credit accounts.Re-aging debt is when a debt's status changes on credit reports to make it appear as a newer debt. It is illegal for debt collectors to re-age credit accounts. Both the original creditor or a debt collector cannot re-age a negative account. No matter how many times a delinquent account is transferred or sold from one debt collector to another, the date of first delinquency should not change. The DOFD (date of first delinquency) determines how long a negative account can remain on your credit reports. The "DOFD" is the date an account became 30 days late and no other payments were made. Section 623(5)(A) says: "In general. A person who furnishes information to a consumer reporting agency regarding a delinquent account being placed for collection, charged to profit or loss, or subjected to any similar action shall, not later than 90 days after furnishing the information, notify the agency of the date of delinquency on the account, which shall be the month and year of the commencement of the delinquency on the account that immediately preceded the action."

Harvard Collection Services I believe certain agencies and some 'collection' entities are improperly sharing data.

I believe the practices of certain agencies and some 'collection' entities are sharing data that lacks integrity, has no detail and is incorrect, enabling third parties to spy, misinterpret reports or data, and harass individuals, including the elderly and those from certain racial or ethnic backgrounds. Harvard Collection Agency is one such agency. This started immediately after signing up with the I-Cash portal through the state's unclaimed property database. It's apparent that there is data mining and sharing of inaccurate or outdated information with these 'collection' entities. The harassment began under the guise of the state. I was never informed by the state or any other entity about owing taxes, nor was I told to pay any fees. After raising concerns, I received a collection letter from Harvard Collection Agency demanding payment plus interest and a collection fee of $5.82. I suspect they are monitoring my personal financial and tax information, which should be private. They might be purchasing this data, which is exploitative and incorrect. I dispute this and the collection letter I received (dated 4/1/22) did not specify a tax year. I suspect they are misusing my social security and bank account information. If they are affiliated with the state treasury, they are misrepresenting themselves. The first two bills I received were from the state and did not mention Harvard Collections Services. When I tried to contact them using the provided numbers, no one answered. I do not owe the claimed amount. I left a company in December and was refunded a small tax-related amount. It seems the data used by this third party is outdated, incorrect, or incomplete.
