Disappointing Experience on HiBid: Lack of Customer Service and Accountability
I must say that after spending around two months on HiBid (hibid.com) and making purchases worth thousands of dollars, my experience has been rather disappointing. There were a few incidents that left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with the platform.
Firstly, I had a coin that was stolen while in transit, and when I reached out to the auctioneer, they simply said it was not their problem. This lack of accountability left me feeling uneasy and unsure if I could trust the platform.
Secondly, I won an auction, but the auction house did not feel comfortable shipping the item, which was rather puzzling. Additionally, after purchasing two firearms almost three weeks ago, I have yet to receive any shipping notices, which is very concerning.
To make matters worse, I was charged a ridiculous $80 to ship two small metal signs that weighed less than a pound! This was highly unreasonable and felt like a rip-off.
Furthermore, an auctioneer had two listings for a coin, one valuable and the other worthless. Unfortunately, the coin was mislabeled, and I almost paid $800 for a worthless penny. It was a frustrating experience that left me wondering about the authenticity of the listings on HiBid.
There was also an instance where I did not receive my items, and the auction house simply responded with a "not my problem" attitude. This lack of customer support was very discouraging and added to the growing list of woes.
Finally, to add insult to injury, I received negative bidder feedback from somewhere in the ether, which resulted in me being denied and permanently banned from bidding. I was not given any reason for this action, and there was zero due process involved. As a bidder, I felt powerless and let down by the platform.
Overall, I must say that my experience on HiBid has been a joke, and I am done with the platform. I feel disappointed and let down by the lack of customer service and accountability, and it has left me questioning the authenticity of the listings and the reliability of the platform.
Concerns with HiBid's Resolution Process and Ethics in Auctions
As someone who has been using HiBid (hibid.com) for several years now, I find the platform to be relatively user-friendly and easy to navigate. However, I do have some concerns about the resolution process when it comes to any issues that arise during an auction. Recently, I won an item online but received an email over an hour later from the auctioneer informing me that they had sold the item to an on-site bidder. When I reached out to HiBid to report the issue, I was informed that there was nothing they could do and that the issue was solely with the auctioneer.
This lack of accountability is concerning as any discrepancy or dispute during an auction should be addressed and resolved between the parties involved. In other auctions that I have attended, bidding would be reopened to ensure fairness and ethics were maintained. Unfortunately, it seems that ethics are being disregarded by some auctioneers in their pursuit of profit.
To make matters worse, during the same auction, I received an email informing me that items I had placed prebids on were being removed from the auction. As someone with experience in the auction industry, I know that this is a huge no-no. The auctioneer should not advertise items they don't intend to sell and communication beforehand is key to avoiding any misunderstandings.
After conducting some research, I discovered that this particular auctioneer had a history of doing this to other buyers, which is alarming as it seems they are more interested in making a quick buck than treating their online buyers fairly.
In conclusion, I would caution anyone using HiBid to be aware of online/on-site auctions running simultaneously as issues can arise. Additionally, HiBid needs to make improvements to their resolution process to ensure that the platform is being used ethically and transparently.
HiBid Online Auction Website Review: Frustrating Bidding Experience and Poor User Interface
HiBid, an online auction website, has unfortunately left me with a negative experience. Although I appreciate the concept of bidding on items online, I'm puzzled as to how my maximum bid is hit every time I place a bid, even when there is no other action on the item until the last five minutes of the auction. This has happened repeatedly and is quite frustrating. To make matters worse, my bid often goes to the maximum dollar even when I intentionally tried to be outbid by a low maximum.
Additionally, paying for my purchases on this website is a nightmare with such a poor user interface. Some of the auction houses do not use their registered names, making it difficult to track and identify my purchases. Furthermore, I receive invoices that are next to impossible to decipher, leaving me confused about what name the auction house used on the website. Emails go unanswered on "to be" shipped orders, so they can resell the items.
If I'm lucky enough to receive my items, I can expect inflated shipping and processing fees. For instance, it cost me $29.00 to mail a record, which, in my opinion, is a bit of an effen joke, considering records cost only $3.19 to mail. The cost of an envelope, printing the label, and taping it up is a total rip-off.
All of these factors combined have led me to believe that this site is an absolute farce. While I understand that not everything can be perfect, there are a few too many flaws for me to be able to recommend HiBid to anyone. The BBB rating of 1.8 out of five only confirms my negative experience. Save yourself the headache and avoid this website altogether.
Protect Yourself on HiBid: Tips to Avoid Auction Scams
If you're looking for an online auction website, HiBid might be an option for you. What's important to note is that it is not entirely safe from scams. As an auction site, it allows auctioneers to view the maximum bid of each bidder. Unfortunately, some auctioneers may take advantage of this by shilling the bidding process, i.e., adding their bid just below your maximum. This practice is legal in most states, so buyers need to be cautious, especially when bidding on high-priced items.
The good news is that there are ways to protect yourself. To make sure you're getting a good deal, always do the math first, including commission, taxes, and shipping costs. You can sort items according to high to low bids and check the bidders. Even though their names are anonymized, you can always identify the same bidder who is almost winning all the auctions with high bids. I even had an acquaintance who confirmed this after experiencing two flaky auctions where they won with their maximum bid. One of the auctions was a camera worth $350, and the shill bidder matched their bid SIX times!
Another helpful tip is to avoid entering your true maximum bid at the start of the auction. As it closes, the auction pace picks up. The shill bidder may not be able to keep up with the momentum, attracting multiple bids, as happens in traditional auctions.
In summary, HiBid is a good website for those interested in participating in online auctions. However, it is not immune to fraud. So, it's essential to be prudent and follow the tips above to avoid being scammed in the bidding process.
Unethical Auctioneer on HiBid: Lack of Transparency and Misrepresentation Causing Concern for Buyers
As an avid shopper on HiBid, I have had the pleasure of purchasing a diverse array of items through the platform. Nevertheless, my recent experience with an auctioneer has been quite unsettling. Unfortunately, it seems that the auctioneer in question lacks essential ethics and honesty, which is a significant cause for concern. For instance, I noticed that the auctioneer listed a poly resin candelabra as solid brass, which would have been unknown to me had I not viewed the piece that I had bid on. Additionally, the auctioneer went ahead to list picture frames as gilt, however, these turned out to have just been gold painted - a misleading and unethical act of misrepresentation. Although I was able to bring the dishonest description to the auctioneer's attention, she only changed one item mid-auction and refused to properly describe the others.
As a result of this, I will be writing to the auction Association and filing a formal complaint. It is unfortunate that the HiBid website does not have a rating system for buyers to rate auctioneers adequately. This fails to promote honesty and accountability since ethics and honesty should be paramount in any business, and more importantly, buyers should be protected. I believe the auctioneers hold the responsibility to present pieces accurately and thoroughly, without guessing properties or qualities. It is unfair that buyers must view items in person as most are out of town, which makes it inconvenient for them.
If HiBid had a system similar to that of eBay, where buyers can rate auctioneers, it would foster a much more honest and trustworthy bidding community on the platform, and it would help prevent unethical auctioneers from taking advantage of potential buyers. This is an issue that HiBid would need to address to provide their customers with a better shopping experience. As a result of my recent experience, I am now very cautious about buying anything from HiBid.
HiBid.com Review: Dubious Bidding Practices or Legitimate Auction Site?
Upon browsing the HiBid website (hibid.com), I was skeptical about its credibility. However, I decided to bid on two identical items, each listed and priced separately. I placed a reserve bid on both items, hoping to secure the win for both auctions even if I wasn't actively monitoring the bidding process.
It was strange to note that I had won both items at the highest possible bid price, despite the different prices. The odds of this happening seemed improbable, and I suspected foul play. I wondered if someone, perhaps the seller (HiBid), had access to my reserve bid and strategically placed bids to force me to pay the highest possible price.
Although the owner of HiBid assured me that no one has access to bid amounts and that the business is above board, I remained suspicious and mistrustful. I lacked confidence that bids were not manipulated to extract the highest price, and my concerns about HiBid's transparency lingered.
HiBid Review: Buyer Beware - Scams, Spam, and Surcharges
HiBid, a popular online auction site that claims to offer a convenient platform for buying and selling items, has received some negative feedback from its users. It has been reported that the site sends spam text messages to users without their consent, leaving them with no option but to block the number. The same issue has been observed with email notifications as well. This raises concerns about user privacy and the transparency of the site's policies.
Apart from this, the complex layout of the website has made it difficult for users to navigate and find what they are looking for. Locating items of interest at nearby auctions has become quite a task due to the convoluted design of the site. Auctions are also a hit and miss affair, as there are cases of deceitful descriptions provided by auction houses, with item conditions hidden within the photos. To further complicate matters, emails sent to the auction houses go unanswered, leading to frustration and disappointment.
Some users have even reported receiving items that were in terrible condition, unfit for use, and covered in filth. These items had to be discarded, costing users both money and time. This is mainly because the auction houses do not have any guidelines in place to ensure honesty and accuracy when describing the items being auctioned. This can be a huge letdown for buyers who end up paying high prices for what turns out to be a pile of junk.
Furthermore, there are exorbitant handling charges and buyer fees that can add up to as much as 35% to the bidding price. This can be a real bummer as it feels like being ripped off. Therefore, buyers need to be very cautious when placing bids on the site. The prevalence of such malpractices has earned the site and many of the auction houses a bad reputation.
The practices concerning the site and many of the auction houses have been labeled as highly unethical, and this has resulted in the site receiving a two-star rating instead of the desired one-star rating. There are some good auction houses on the site, but with the oversaturation, it is hard to locate them. To conclude, users need to exercise due diligence and be aware of the site's policies and the auction houses' conduct before placing bids on HiBid.
HiBid Review: Pros and Cons of the Online Auction Platform for Buyers and Sellers
HiBid is an online auction platform that has been gaining popularity among buyers and sellers alike. This review is aimed at providing a thorough analysis of both the positive and negative aspects of this platform to help prospective users make an informed decision.
On the positive side, HiBid offers access to a wide range of auctions from all over the world, covering a diverse range of products and services. Additionally, the platform provides an easy-to-use interface that allows users to search, bid, and manage their auctions with relative ease. Most of the auction companies on HiBid are reputable and strive to provide the best possible service to their customers.
However, there are a few bad apples among the auctioneers who engage in unethical bidding practices. They may use shill bids to drive up the price of an item or bid up to the amount of the reserve, even though they are not aware of what that amount is. While this may be legal in some cases, it is not considered ethical or moral by most standards.
Another aspect that prospective users need to consider is shipping. Many of the auction companies on HiBid use third-party shippers to deliver their items. While most of these shippers are reliable and pack items well, some may not take responsibility for the delivery of items once they leave the auction company's location. This can result in unanticipated problems, such as incorrect shipping charges or damage to items during transit.
One such instance that highlights this problem occurred when a user received a shipment of 16 pounds from South Carolina to Texas that was supposed to have a declared value of $1400. However, the item arrived with only a declared value of $100, and the shipping charges were $115. Further calculations indicated that the total cost should not have exceeded $70, with a declared value of $1400. This raises questions about the reliability of third-party shippers on this platform.
In conclusion, HiBid is a fantastic platform for buyers and sellers of auctioned goods, and most of the auction companies provide top-notch services. However, users need to be careful, read the terms and conditions thoroughly, and confirm with the shippers before making shipping arrangements. By doing so, users can avoid any unexpected problems that may arise during the auction process.
Beware of Hidden Reserves on HiBid: My Unsatisfactory Experience with Auction House
Looking for a reliable and trustworthy online auction website can be challenging, and this is where HiBid seems to come in pretty handy. I discovered HiBid recently and have been using their services to purchase some things during these challenging Wuhan virus days. However, my experience was less than satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share it with others.
Last week, I placed a bid on an item on HiBid with a somewhat high opening bid of $250, and I bid that amount alone. I assumed that if I got the item at that price, it would be great—the item had no mention of any reserves on the HiBid website. To my surprise, after the auction ended, I did not receive an invoice. Naturally, I contacted the auction house, Ancient Art & Antiques, to follow up on the invoice. The response I received was a shocker. They informed me that the lot had a reserve, which was not noted on the HiBid website for that particular lot number.
Though I'm aware that I couldn't force the auction house to complete the deal, I felt it was unjust and wrong that they would refuse to finalize the agreement because they wanted more money for the item. I can only imagine the disappointment I felt because I won the item by default, yet I couldn't get it. On the other hand, if I bid over the reserve price, they would come after me if I refused to complete my part of the bargain. It is quite sad that the auction house wouldn't give me an opportunity to make an informed decision about the bidding process.
I'm sure many people like me use HiBid to purchase different items, and I feel it's best to warn others of this experience. It is vital to know that the auction house won't fulfill their part of the bargain, even if you win an auction. They may ask you to make an offer on the item after the bidding process, which defeats the purpose of the whole auction process. In summary, I advise people to avoid this auction house and spend their time and resources elsewhere, where they will receive better service and respect for their bidding experiences.
Hibid: Frustrating and Inefficient Online Auction Platform
When it comes to online auction platforms, Hibid leaves much to be desired. It's frustrating that there's no way to easily follow up on the items you've won. Information about the total price paid, including premiums and taxes, is nowhere to be found. Worse yet, there's no way to track whether the item has been paid for, shipped, or given a tracking number. It seems like such a simple feature that would make a huge difference.
The site's cluttered and confusing interface makes it hard to navigate, with the added annoyance of having to track down the auction house responsible for the item you've won. Sometimes, even tracking them down is a hassle, with different names and connections between companies adding to the confusion.
As for the auction houses themselves, the quality is all over the place. Some are clearly run by inexperienced players who probably got into the business due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while others are reputable and established. The fact that there have been instances of being denied access to bid without any explanation is unacceptable. Without transparency and communication, it's hard not to assume the worst.
It's recommended to do your research beforehand to ensure that the auction house you're dealing with is legitimate and trustworthy. When in doubt, look for websites or PayPal payments as indicators of reliability. It's unfortunate that the poor experience on Hibid has made it difficult to continue buying items through the platform.
To the auction houses that have provided great service and products, we thank you for your hard work. Unfortunately, we will have to look elsewhere for our future auction needs. Many of the same houses can be found on Live Auctioneers, for those who are interested.
ive called several times and sent pics of juicer. always young lady would speak with manager but no response. I want all $$$ and shipping for that item returned. I can send juicer back with a paid shipping label. bob stephens [protected]
A big majority of the sellers there are crooks. They have access to your credit card and will use it for fraud. Don't expect any items, it's just a big front company for theft.
