HiBid Review: Terrible Business Practices, False Bidding, and Outrageous Shipping Costs
HiBid (hibid.com) is a terrible company that should be avoided at all costs. They host auction houses that use their computers to inflate bidding, leading to higher prices for customers. Additionally, they charge outrageous shipping costs that do not accurately reflect the actual shipping cost. They then proceed to charge your card without permission, making it difficult to dispute erroneous charges.
Even worse, when things go wrong, HiBid is incredibly unprofessional and unhelpful. One customer reports purchasing a doll that was not in the condition advertised. Another customer had their order not arrive, and when they contacted HiBid, they were lied to about it being shipped. And when customers attempt to hold HiBid accountable for their mistakes, the company resorts to slander and lies, banning customers from auctions and spreading false accusations.
It's clear that HiBid's business practices are shady and their treatment of customers is nothing short of disgusting. It's only a matter of time before this company faces the consequences of their actions. Don't waste your money or time on HiBid - find a more reputable company to do business with.
Disappointing HiBid Experience: Forgery Purchase & Unsatisfactory Refund Policy
My experience with HiBid was disappointing and frustrating to say the least. I purchased a painting for thousands of dollars at LOVE'S AUCTIONEER & APPRAISALS on August 19, 2020, only to find out that it was a forgery. What made the experience worse was that I was asked to wire transfer the cash, which meant I couldn't dispute the payment for a refund once the transaction had been completed. I would advise everyone to be more cautious than I was and avoid making the same mistake.
Although Don from HiBid promised to rectify the situation, he failed to do so after several attempts. He never provided me with the additional provenance he was supposed to give me over the phone. What's more, I noticed that his response to questions about the painting would differ between phone conversations and text messages. As a result, I requested that we only communicate via text so that he wouldn't be able to change his story further.
Even after the painting was appraised by renowned appraisers and found to be a forgery, Don did not refund my money as he promised he would. It was only after I agreed to buy it for $500 USD that he agreed to give me the difference. He kept $845.62 USD from the amount owed to me. This was unsatisfactory to me since I only agreed to the arrangement because I knew that there was no other way to get my money back. Don had previously offered me a chance to keep the painting for $2000 instead of getting a complete refund of $5,533 USD (shipping included), but I declined since I already knew that the painting was a forgery.
I requested all of my money back since Don failed to honor his end of the agreement. Despite even providing Don with email confirmation from the auction house personnel that the painting was a fake, he still refused to do the right thing and return my full payment. As of writing this review, he still owes me $1,346.62 USD.
The painting that was sold to me is a copy of The Artist Tang Wei Mie works which I texted to Don. I also informed Chris Kennedy, who is in charge at headquarters, of all the details listed in this complaint. The entire experience has been an inconvenience, a hassle, and a cause of great disappointment for me. I would strongly advise anyone to very closely examine any transaction made through HiBid and also to seek assistance from reputable professionals when authenticating any products sold on the site.
HiBid Review: Benefits & Drawbacks of an Online Auction Site
When it comes to online auction sites, HiBid is a bit of a mixed bag. While there are some aspects of the platform that are convenient, such as the ability to bid on a wide variety of items from the comfort of your own home, there are also some major flaws that cannot be overlooked.
One of the biggest issues with HiBid is the fact that you cannot leave feedback on the auctioneer. This can be frustrating if you have a problem with a particular auction and want to voice your concerns. To make matters worse, if you do complain to HiBid, you run the risk of receiving negative feedback. This seems unfair, as buyers should not be penalized for trying to resolve an issue.
Another problem with HiBid is the fact that you can be banned from bidding if you retract a bid or receive negative feedback - even if it is not your fault. In one instance, a user had to retract their bid because they realized the item was a knock off. The auctioneer then banned them for doing so, which seems unreasonable.
Additionally, the customer service on HiBid is hit or miss. While some users have had positive experiences with the support team, others have encountered issues where they never received the item they won, or the item arrived broken. When trying to resolve these issues, some customers were met with unresponsive sellers and no real solution to their problem.
Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of HiBid is the fact that you have to pay a fee for each auction house you bid with. While HiBid does give this fee back, it still feels unfair that you have to pay to get approved to bid on items.
In summary, while there are some benefits to using HiBid, there are also some significant drawbacks that potential users should be aware of. If you're looking for an alternative, other online auction sites like Proxibid or AuctionZip may be a better choice.
Review of HiBid: Pros and Cons for Auctioneers and Bidders
HiBid is a popular platform that allows almost any auctioneer to operate online with ease. While they offer a wide range of services, some users may find that this platform caters more to established auction professionals. There are even auctioneers who do not offer shipping, which may surprise many.
That being said, signing up for HiBid can be a bit of a challenge for some users. There are reports of users being penalized for trying to bid in local pick up auctions. Additionally, there seems to be a secret indictment list where users can be banned for unknown reasons without any form of recourse.
However, while there are some potential downsides to using HiBid, many users have found success with the platform. A lot of this depends on the honesty and business practices of the auctioneer you are working with. Those who run their auctions in a straightforward manner and offer reasonable shipping rates tend to have better results.
One aspect of HiBid that can cause confusion is the end of the auction. Some auctions end directly on HiBid, while others use HiBid as a pre-bidding platform with a live auction to follow. It can be challenging to track down the final auction, as there is no direct link on HiBid to follow. This can make it a little frustrating for those looking to follow up on their high bids.
It is worth noting that the $1 charge on HiBid is not for bidding but simply to verify your credit card information, and it is only a temporary hold that will be removed.
Should you encounter any issues or problems with your HiBid account or your auction experience, there appears to be limited recourse available. Unfortunately, HiBid cannot view or address issues with your account, and they have no control over auctioneers' actions. Users are entirely responsible for their actions and must be prepared to navigate any problems or issues on their own.
HIBID Auction Site: Pros and Cons for Buyers and Resellers
When it comes to auction sites, HIBID can be a bit of a mixed bag. While it's a great resource for online resellers looking for estate sales and auctions, it's important for buyers to be diligent and do some research on the quality of auctioneers they're working with.
Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to run into shill bidding on the site, as some auctioneers resort to hiring individuals to artificially inflate the price of specific items up for sale. Washington Surplus and Vail Auctioneers are two major offenders known for shill bidding scams. Not only that, these companies have been found to be selling broken and non-working items as "New Old Stock", which is certainly not good news for anyone looking to make a purchase on their site.
One example of how shill bidding works is a small box of miscellaneous sunglasses up for bidding. The opening bid was $5, but during the final minutes of the auction, another bidder placed a bid of $7. When the original bidder raised their offer to $8, yet another bid immediately appeared at $9. It became obvious that a shill bidder was being used, so to test the theory, the bidder placed a maximum bid of $52 for a box of sunglasses that was only worth about $10. As suspected, the shill bidder stopped at $52, revealing that the auctioneer engaged in unethical practices in order to make a greater profit.
Although some auctioneers do their best to provide excellent service to buyers, others fall short. For instance, American Realty & Auction, LLC out of Dixson, Tennessee was found to have shipped a delicate sculpture in a poorly wrapped box with other items that were not appropriately packed. The sculpture arrived damaged and took far too long to arrive due to poor communication from the auctioneer.
In summary, it's advisable to avoid certain auctioneers and companies on HIBID such as Washington Surplus, Vail Auctioneers, and American Realty & Auction, LLC. In addition, be aware of shipping options and extra fees that can add up quickly. While some buyers have great experiences on HIBID, it's crucial to be cautious and informed before making any purchases.
My Negative Experience with HiBid: Unfair Treatment and Blacklisting by Diane Bendis Auctioneer
done my research before bidding on Diane Bendis' auction.
My experience with HiBid was not a pleasant one. I found that they prioritize the auctioneer over the buyer, which left me feeling frustrated and powerless. As a customer, I believe that both parties should be protected and treated equally with respect. Unfortunately, this sentiment was not reflected in my dealings with HiBid.
My situation involved winning an auction for 20 items on HiBid. Unfortunately, shortly after winning the auction, I had to undergo surgery and was advised by my doctor to stay in bed for a month. This meant that I couldn't leave my house to fulfill the strict payment requirements of the auctioneer who only accepted cash. I tried to appeal to the auctioneer's sense of compassion by asking her to consider accepting online payment options such as Paypal, Venmo, or credit card. Unfortunately, she wasn't understanding and threatened me with blacklist instead.
Desperate to fulfill my payment obligations, I asked my 85-year-old widowed mother to help me, and eventually, I was able to send a check to the auctioneer. However, this only resulted in me being blacklisted, and no auctioneer was willing to approve me to bid in any future auctions on HiBid. Despite contacting HiBid for help, there was nothing they could do, and I remained blacklisted.
My negative experience with HiBid was compounded by the auctioneer's lack of compassion, and the fact that she holds significant power over customers. The auctioneer in question, Diane Bendis of Bendis Companies Inc, California, has the ability to blacklist people just because she doesn't like them, which is unacceptable. Her actions have caused me to doubt the integrity of HiBid's platform, and I now urge other buyers to take caution when bidding on auctions on their platform.
As a customer who spends a significant amount of money on HiBid yearly, I believe that buyers and auctioneers should be treated with equal respect and dignity. HiBid should do more to protect the interests of both parties and ensure that every transaction is handled fairly. I hope my review serves as a cautionary tale for other buyers on HiBid, and I implore the company to make improvements to its platform to ensure a better experience for customers.

HiBid.com Review: Dubious Bidding Practices or Legitimate Auction Site?
Upon browsing the HiBid website (hibid.com), I was skeptical about its credibility. However, I decided to bid on two identical items, each listed and priced separately. I placed a reserve bid on both items, hoping to secure the win for both auctions even if I wasn't actively monitoring the bidding process.
It was strange to note that I had won both items at the highest possible bid price, despite the different prices. The odds of this happening seemed improbable, and I suspected foul play. I wondered if someone, perhaps the seller (HiBid), had access to my reserve bid and strategically placed bids to force me to pay the highest possible price.
Although the owner of HiBid assured me that no one has access to bid amounts and that the business is above board, I remained suspicious and mistrustful. I lacked confidence that bids were not manipulated to extract the highest price, and my concerns about HiBid's transparency lingered.
HiBid Review: Buyer Beware - Scams, Spam, and Surcharges
HiBid, a popular online auction site that claims to offer a convenient platform for buying and selling items, has received some negative feedback from its users. It has been reported that the site sends spam text messages to users without their consent, leaving them with no option but to block the number. The same issue has been observed with email notifications as well. This raises concerns about user privacy and the transparency of the site's policies.
Apart from this, the complex layout of the website has made it difficult for users to navigate and find what they are looking for. Locating items of interest at nearby auctions has become quite a task due to the convoluted design of the site. Auctions are also a hit and miss affair, as there are cases of deceitful descriptions provided by auction houses, with item conditions hidden within the photos. To further complicate matters, emails sent to the auction houses go unanswered, leading to frustration and disappointment.
Some users have even reported receiving items that were in terrible condition, unfit for use, and covered in filth. These items had to be discarded, costing users both money and time. This is mainly because the auction houses do not have any guidelines in place to ensure honesty and accuracy when describing the items being auctioned. This can be a huge letdown for buyers who end up paying high prices for what turns out to be a pile of junk.
Furthermore, there are exorbitant handling charges and buyer fees that can add up to as much as 35% to the bidding price. This can be a real bummer as it feels like being ripped off. Therefore, buyers need to be very cautious when placing bids on the site. The prevalence of such malpractices has earned the site and many of the auction houses a bad reputation.
The practices concerning the site and many of the auction houses have been labeled as highly unethical, and this has resulted in the site receiving a two-star rating instead of the desired one-star rating. There are some good auction houses on the site, but with the oversaturation, it is hard to locate them. To conclude, users need to exercise due diligence and be aware of the site's policies and the auction houses' conduct before placing bids on HiBid.
HiBid Review: Pros and Cons of the Online Auction Platform for Buyers and Sellers
HiBid is an online auction platform that has been gaining popularity among buyers and sellers alike. This review is aimed at providing a thorough analysis of both the positive and negative aspects of this platform to help prospective users make an informed decision.
On the positive side, HiBid offers access to a wide range of auctions from all over the world, covering a diverse range of products and services. Additionally, the platform provides an easy-to-use interface that allows users to search, bid, and manage their auctions with relative ease. Most of the auction companies on HiBid are reputable and strive to provide the best possible service to their customers.
However, there are a few bad apples among the auctioneers who engage in unethical bidding practices. They may use shill bids to drive up the price of an item or bid up to the amount of the reserve, even though they are not aware of what that amount is. While this may be legal in some cases, it is not considered ethical or moral by most standards.
Another aspect that prospective users need to consider is shipping. Many of the auction companies on HiBid use third-party shippers to deliver their items. While most of these shippers are reliable and pack items well, some may not take responsibility for the delivery of items once they leave the auction company's location. This can result in unanticipated problems, such as incorrect shipping charges or damage to items during transit.
One such instance that highlights this problem occurred when a user received a shipment of 16 pounds from South Carolina to Texas that was supposed to have a declared value of $1400. However, the item arrived with only a declared value of $100, and the shipping charges were $115. Further calculations indicated that the total cost should not have exceeded $70, with a declared value of $1400. This raises questions about the reliability of third-party shippers on this platform.
In conclusion, HiBid is a fantastic platform for buyers and sellers of auctioned goods, and most of the auction companies provide top-notch services. However, users need to be careful, read the terms and conditions thoroughly, and confirm with the shippers before making shipping arrangements. By doing so, users can avoid any unexpected problems that may arise during the auction process.
Beware of Hidden Reserves on HiBid: My Unsatisfactory Experience with Auction House
Looking for a reliable and trustworthy online auction website can be challenging, and this is where HiBid seems to come in pretty handy. I discovered HiBid recently and have been using their services to purchase some things during these challenging Wuhan virus days. However, my experience was less than satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share it with others.
Last week, I placed a bid on an item on HiBid with a somewhat high opening bid of $250, and I bid that amount alone. I assumed that if I got the item at that price, it would be great—the item had no mention of any reserves on the HiBid website. To my surprise, after the auction ended, I did not receive an invoice. Naturally, I contacted the auction house, Ancient Art & Antiques, to follow up on the invoice. The response I received was a shocker. They informed me that the lot had a reserve, which was not noted on the HiBid website for that particular lot number.
Though I'm aware that I couldn't force the auction house to complete the deal, I felt it was unjust and wrong that they would refuse to finalize the agreement because they wanted more money for the item. I can only imagine the disappointment I felt because I won the item by default, yet I couldn't get it. On the other hand, if I bid over the reserve price, they would come after me if I refused to complete my part of the bargain. It is quite sad that the auction house wouldn't give me an opportunity to make an informed decision about the bidding process.
I'm sure many people like me use HiBid to purchase different items, and I feel it's best to warn others of this experience. It is vital to know that the auction house won't fulfill their part of the bargain, even if you win an auction. They may ask you to make an offer on the item after the bidding process, which defeats the purpose of the whole auction process. In summary, I advise people to avoid this auction house and spend their time and resources elsewhere, where they will receive better service and respect for their bidding experiences.
Hibid: Frustrating and Inefficient Online Auction Platform
When it comes to online auction platforms, Hibid leaves much to be desired. It's frustrating that there's no way to easily follow up on the items you've won. Information about the total price paid, including premiums and taxes, is nowhere to be found. Worse yet, there's no way to track whether the item has been paid for, shipped, or given a tracking number. It seems like such a simple feature that would make a huge difference.
The site's cluttered and confusing interface makes it hard to navigate, with the added annoyance of having to track down the auction house responsible for the item you've won. Sometimes, even tracking them down is a hassle, with different names and connections between companies adding to the confusion.
As for the auction houses themselves, the quality is all over the place. Some are clearly run by inexperienced players who probably got into the business due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while others are reputable and established. The fact that there have been instances of being denied access to bid without any explanation is unacceptable. Without transparency and communication, it's hard not to assume the worst.
It's recommended to do your research beforehand to ensure that the auction house you're dealing with is legitimate and trustworthy. When in doubt, look for websites or PayPal payments as indicators of reliability. It's unfortunate that the poor experience on Hibid has made it difficult to continue buying items through the platform.
To the auction houses that have provided great service and products, we thank you for your hard work. Unfortunately, we will have to look elsewhere for our future auction needs. Many of the same houses can be found on Live Auctioneers, for those who are interested.
A big majority of the sellers there are crooks. They have access to your credit card and will use it for fraud. Don't expect any items, it's just a big front company for theft.
