If you're a woman, get ready to be taken advantage of
If you're a woman, get ready to be taken advantage of. They claim to cater to ***, but they're actually just really corrupt.
I bought a used car from Honda Of Downtown Chicago, but they wouldn't let me pay the whole amount in cash
I bought a used car from Honda Of Downtown Chicago, but they wouldn't let me pay the whole amount in cash. They made me take a loan instead. Then they sold me a service plan and a tire/wheel plan, but they didn't really tell me how much they would cost. Turns out, both plans cost me $4795.00. So, if you decide to buy a car from this dealership, make sure you read everything you sign. I can cancel both plans, but it's a hassle to do so. So, just a heads up for all you buyers out there!
I've leased 2 cars here
I've leased 2 cars here. I don't get my car serviced here anymore. At 12,000 miles, they told me I needed a $900 brake job! They wanted to sand down my rotors and clean brakes. No way, that's crazy! I brought it back one last time for the oil and told them I only want an oil change, don't try and sell me anything else. They told me I needed to change my brake fluid. I took my car and brought it to Midas on Grand (great by the way) and asked them to change the oil and check my brake fluid. They told me my brake fluid was very clean and not needed. On my current lease, I'm paying an extra $50 a month. I also paid for extended insurance for wheels, etc. Recently, I found out that I have no such coverage. Just a scam to get another $50 a month from me. When my lease was coming to an end, someone called me 7 times, left 5 messages, texted me several times, and emailed me! I'm actually afraid to bring my car here when my lease is up. I will never lease here again.
This was the worst experience I've ever had with a dealership
This was the worst experience I've ever had with a dealership. I came downtown hoping for a better, more professional experience, but that's not what I got. The salesmen here are like con artists, just like everyone says about car salesmen. They pretend to help you, but all they really want is your money. They'll take every penny you have! They'll make sure you leave with the worst deal possible! I'm telling you, don't do business here! They'll take advantage of you, even if you have a bigger down payment or a higher credit score! I'm talking about the general sales manager, ***, salesman *** Marines, and financial manager ***. They don't care about doing business properly, and I'm here to warn you that it's not safe to do business here. Even if you say you don't want certain warranties, they'll still charge you for things you don't need. I can't believe it, but I want everyone to know how awful this experience was, so it never happens again!
I was denied a conversation with the on-site manager who was "unable to talk" after I confronted my salesman about trying to get me to test
I was denied a conversation with the on-site manager who was "unable to talk" after I confronted my salesman about trying to get me to test drive another car when I was contacted to come in and test drive a car I was suppose to buy. I inquire some more and find out the real reason my salesman was pushing for me to test drive another car was because the car I came there to drive was apparently sold a few days prior. There was no ownership or accountability on the dealerships end, and to top it off we received the complete opposite of the *** treatment I was promised in my confirmation text. The dealership even declined to find another car in the Chicagoland area for me to test drive. They did not know, but my grandmother who was going to purchase the car, was actually in the car awaiting my confirmation before going through with our potential sale. We received no reimbursement for the street parking or compensation of any sort for the dealership's inconvenience without an apology. After my request to speak to the manager My salesman went into a room with clear glass windows and spoke with two people who spoke to each other while glancing and starring at my self and my *** brother who I was with celebrating ***. Utter disrespect and racist.
I bought a used car from this dealer and drove home from downtown to Northwest suburbs!
I bought a used car from this dealer and drove home from downtown to Northwest suburbs! When I got home, I could smell antifreeze really strong in the car! I reached out to the dealership sales person who didn't respond right away and then she sent me off to a manager in training! Who wouldn't return my calls until I was on my way there. He called when I was on the way there. After I called to alert him! He tells me the car was deemed worthy to drive. I had Merlin look over the car where several other things were wrong with it! It goes into park by itself/ the power steering hose is sweating fluid / the system has so many glitches I cannot explain. The manager in training tells me he cannot pay for the car to be fixed. He will try to help w/ $400.00 for repairs that already will cost close to $1300.00. I have yet to get a check or my vehicle fixed! The 1st day I got the car it was not a good car. It is costing me an upwards of $20,000.00 for the vehicle and They have not done anything about it! I have talked to this so called manager several times and was reassured they sent the check and never received anything! This dealership will take your money and sell you a lemon. Do not trust anyone at Downtown Chicago Honda ever! Horrible service. They are out just to make a sell and do not care about the customer! Do not buy from this dealership! ALERT: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP.
I was really disappointed with my experience at Honda of Downtown Chicago
I was really disappointed with my experience at Honda of Downtown Chicago. It all started off fine, but then things took a turn for the worse. I went in for an oil change in May and had a coupon, but ended up paying a whopping $416. My 2017 CRV Touring only has a few miles on it, as I'm an old lady who mainly rides in another car and keeps mine in the garage. Last week, I noticed that the A/C wasn't working, so I brought it in. They quoted me a staggering $3381.31! I couldn't believe it and thought they were crazy. After some back and forth, they lowered it to $2822.81 and threw in a new battery. Every time I went in for service, I would bring a box of donuts from a local bakery, not Dunkin'. They showed me photos of the repairs that needed to be done, so I asked for photos once they were completed. Unfortunately, they didn't provide any. I was worried because I thought I still had a warranty until December , but it turns out it had expired. I reluctantly paid the bill and drove home. However, on the way, I started getting strange messages on my dashboard. I immediately called the service department and spoke to the service manager, who I've known since he used to park cars there. They called me back hours later and said it would cost an additional $779.72 to fix the issue. I was furious because the problem started after they had my car. I demanded they return my car and told them to keep the $200 they wanted for diagnostics. They eventually agreed and texted me to let me know my car was on its way back to my home. I was so frustrated and upset about the amount of money I had already paid them. Thankfully, a friend took my car to their own mechanic, who was able to reset something and fix the problem. I still plan on trying to get some of my money back through legal means. I've bought at least five cars from this dealership over the years, but I will never go back there again. I usually go to the Farmers Market on Saturdays at a different location, but this week I couldn't because of this whole ordeal. It's disappointing that having a history with a facility means nothing these days. I really wish I had read the reviews beforehand because this experience has truly shocked me.
I started using Honda of Downtown Chicago for all servicing of my 2016 HRV when it was new
I started using Honda of Downtown Chicago for all servicing of my 2016 HRV when it was new. I brought my car in for its 10,000 mile service, and was tricked into more 'service'. They did the 10,000 mile service and tuneup and gave me a bill of over $2100 that they would cancel if only I would trade my car in for a new one right away. No way! I drove my trusty CRV for almost 100,000 miles...that's why I drive Hondas! I was able to get the bill reduced and decided I would never return. I now get regular phone calls trying to convince me to trade my car in...even though I have asked many times not to receive these annoying calls. I reluctantly made an appointment for a recall software update recently. I had just had my HRV serviced and all fluids topped off somewhere else. First, I was contacted by a pushy employee who wanted to change my appointment because they had other customers they wanted to serve on Saturday. Is this how they treat all customers or just women? I told them I had an appointment and would bring my car in for that appointment. Period. Then I got calls from the service department saying my car needed over $1100 in additional service, including fluids, which I had just had done somewhere else. My oil indicator was at 60% and they claimed I needed an oil change. What a scam! They also gave me the same spiel about trading in my car. And now today I got another call about trading my car in. I asked the guy on the phone to check the customer database because I have asked not to receive these calls over a dozen times. The guy hung up on me. I called management twice today to complain about the harassing phone calls and still haven't received any response. This dealership doesn't deserve to be in business. Now I am involving ComplaintsBoard.com, the state of Illinois, and Honda USA in my determined response to their unprofessional tactics. To quote a movie, 'I'm mad as hell and I won't take it anymore'.
I want to start by saying that this review is not about the service department - I never had any issues with them
I want to start by saying that this review is not about the service department - I never had any issues with them. I told the manager about my problems and let him know that I would write online reviews, but he didn't respond for about 3 weeks. DON'T GO TO THIS DEALER FOR LEASING AND PURCHASING. When I leased my Honda Civic in 2016, this dealer was owned by Fletcher Jones. I had a good experience with them. My boyfriend and I co-leased the car and decided to add the excessive wear and tear insurance for an extra cost. Honda included it as an optional add-on. Now, almost 3 years later, we had to decide whether to buy, lease a new car, or return it. I went to the dealer (not owned by Fletcher Jones anymore) to check my options. Since I live, work, and drive in the city, I knew that the dents on my car were bigger than a nickel and wouldn't be covered by the regular insurance in my lease. However, I thought the extra insurance would cover it. When I mentioned this to Honda, they said there was too much damage and I would owe them money if I returned the car. I argued and asked about the additional insurance I bought, but they acted like they didn't know about it. They made me cry and just took me to the bathroom without offering any other customer service. I went home and did my own research. I checked my lease, tried to find the insurance company's name, and contacted them to find my policy (which Honda should have had). In the end, my boyfriend and I decided to buy the car. We went back to Honda and went through the loan process. For some reason, the loan was only in my name. I asked about the registration and license plate for Illinois, and they assured me that Honda would handle everything without any issues. Two months later, I received a letter from the *** saying my license would be revoked because the name on the registration didn't match. The original license plate was in my boyfriend's name, but now it was only in mine. I contacted Honda, and the same employee who did the loan paperwork was rude and blamed me for not telling him it would be a problem (even though it's his job to know, right?). I tried to fix the issue with the ***, but they wouldn't let me because Honda is the lien-holder and they have to correct it. I contacted the guy at the dealer again, but he said it's not his problem. I told him that someone at Honda should be able to fix it, so he gave me the 800 number for Honda corporate. I called them, but they couldn't help and told me to go to the dealer. I complained that the dealer refused to help, so they contacted the dealer themselves. It turns out there's someone at the dealer who deals with titles and registration (imagine that). I spoke to this person, and he said it should have been resolved during the loan signing. He made some calls and told me to get a new license plate for around $50 at the ***. I went back to the ***, and they were confused, admitting that Honda made mistakes. To make a long story short, the Sec of State agreed to fix everything when I provided my lease and loan documents - maybe out of kindness and sympathy. I followed up with Honda to express my anger, but still haven't received a response. I hope this helps.
BUYER BEWARE!
BUYER BEWARE! MAKE SURE YOU REVIEW EVERYTHING AND GET COPIES OF EVERYTHING WHEN NEGOTIATING! THEY WILL TRY AND SNEAK THINGS INTO YOUR CONTRACT WITHOUT TELLING YOU OR CHANGING THE PRICING! Monday 12/14 I sat down with a sales rep to negotiate the purchase of my car. There are 2 key pieces of paper in this story, 1st is the document I Signed with all the contingencies and negotiations that my sales rep spoke about. The deal was contingent that they fix the damage (used car) on the LEFT, RIGHT, and FRONT bumper. The 2nd is the quote my sales rep had me sign with the repair estimate (which the dealer was going to cover). When my sales rep provided me the 2nd document with the repair quote, it stated LEFT, Rear Bumper and Front bumper. I told him right away it wasn’t the rear bumper, it was the right side. He said “oh thats just for the pricing, it’s the same price for the right side, we’ll take care of it”. Not thinking much of it at the time, I said ok BECAUSE we had the 1st signed document with all the contingencies. Fast forward to Friday 12/18, the day I came to pick up the car. After my sales rep pulled the car into the shop, the first thing I noticed was the damage on the right side of the car was not repaired. He deliberately made up a story on the spot to cover HIS mistake and said “well, if the scratches are to deep, the paint might not absorb properly, and, uhhhh, let me talk to my sales manager and see what we can do”. He went to speak with a manager to see what they could do. Here is where it got heated...he brought back the 2nd document I signed earlier in the week which stated the repairs they were going to cover. The 2nd document is the one which I told the sales rep it was NOT supposed to have rear bumper, it was supposed to be the right side, and he said don’t worry’ it was just for pricing and they will take care of it. He said the sales manager said “this is the information I have, and these are the repairs we did and we’re not going to fix the right side”. I then asked the Sales rep if he had the original contract I signed with all our contingencies we originally spoke about. He went back to his sales manager to ask if they had that document, they claimed they didn’t have it and later claim that it never even existed! My sales rep again stated that these are the repairs they did, and they weren’t willing to own THEIR MISTAKE and make it right. I demanded to speak to the sales manager. I told the sales manager "Your sales rep blatantly lied to me in the shop when we were reviewing the repairs and said the scratches were to deep and the paint didn’t absorb properly, which was completely BS because clearly you didn’t even touch that side of the car”. The sales manager presented me the same piece of paper with the WRONG repairs listed. I AGAIN told him there is another document I signed, and asked them to provide it. They both claimed again that this was the only document they had, these were the repairs that were done, and they actually paid their body shop $400 more than expected. I elevated my voice and made sure everyone around us heard what was going on at this point. They underquoted the repair costs, NOT MY FAULT! They stole a contract from me and claimed they had lost it, and stuck with their story that “this is the information we had for the repairs, this is what we did, take the car or leave it here, we are done negotiating” and then the sales manager got up and walked away. 2 days later I took the car in for an inspection. Both front CV axles were leaking (drivetrain issues) the rear U-joint was leaking (drivetrain issue) the rear U-joints were loose (drivetrain issue), right rear control arm bushing was loose. For all these things to happen on THIS type of car at 22K Miles is unheard of! They misquoted the repairs and tried to pin it on me They didn’t fix part of the car they originally agreed to They stole a signed contract from me right under my nose. They didnt clean the car when I picked it up They left the darn gas tank pinned on E! They changed the price of the car that day! They faked an inspection sheet, or didnt inspect the car at all.

I sold a car to Honda of Downtown Chicago dealership on June 17, 2022
I sold a car to Honda of Downtown Chicago dealership on June 17, 2022. But now, on September 11, 2022, they ain't payin' me the $8,849.76 they owe me for the car's leftover value. All I want is my money, man.
I bought a 5 year warranty from Honda Of Downtown Chicago on 7/27 and I got proof of the contract I signed
I bought a 5 year warranty from Honda Of Downtown Chicago on 7/27 and I got proof of the contract I signed. But this place won't honor it. I've been on the phone with Honda Financial Services for hours and they can't help because the dealership needs to give them the updated paperwork, and this dealership won't cooperate.
Because I recently signed the lease agreement, I had to pay for the tire and wheel warranty services on 8/24
Because I recently signed the lease agreement, I had to pay for the tire and wheel warranty services on 8/24. However, Honda of Downtown Chicago didn't send the claim to National Auto Care until December (after repeatedly asking for reimbursement for months). Unfortunately, the claim was denied because Honda of Downtown Chicago couldn't provide pictures of the damage. I've reached out to Honda Corporate for assistance, but the issue remains unresolved. Surprisingly, no one from Honda of Downtown Chicago, including the GM, ***, has responded to any of my emails or phone calls.

I had an appointment at Honda Of Downtown Chicago on September 19, 2022 for a new key
I had an appointment at Honda Of Downtown Chicago on September 19, 2022 for a new key. I dropped off my car and spoke to two employees about getting a new key. They said I needed to sign a service contract. They told me the key would be ready at 11AM. Because I work, I had to pay for transportation to get to work. But at 11AM, they told me there was a back order on keys for my car and they didn't know when it would be delivered. They said these keys have been on back order for months. So, I wasted both my time and money.
On 5/21 I brung my car in the service department cuz of warning lights flashing
On 5/21 I brung my car in the service department cuz of warning lights flashing. They done a diagnostic test and said they ordered the part to fix the problem which gonna take no more than 2 weeks to come. It's now 6/25, I called and texted the technician and their main service line but ain't got no call back with any updates. Last time I called, I asked for the service managers name and they said they didn't know their name. This is totally not okay and I'm shocked at their behavior and customer service skills. They shouldn't be giving service if they can't do just that... Give a service. I don't trust this place or their business ethic and ain't never gonna come back.
I wanna complain 'bout Honda of Downtown Chicago's PREDATORY PRACTICES
I wanna complain 'bout Honda of Downtown Chicago's PREDATORY PRACTICES. They be tellin' folks their car needs service parts when it's all a big ol' LIE. I went in for an oil change, but ended up with a $650+ service bill. They had a bunch of recommendations for my car, even though it's less than 2 years old and ain't got that many miles on it. They said a) my transmission fluid needed fixin' right away, b) my brake fluid needed flushin' ASAP, and c) my air cabin filter needed attention right now. They also said I gotta spend over $1,100 on other stuff that needs takin' care of soon, like my WINDSHIELD WIPERS. But guess what? I just got my WINDSHIELD WIPERS replaced TWO DAYS before I brought my car in! I talked to the manager, and he stuck to their decisions. He didn't even call me back 'til I got the general manager involved.
On August 20, I flew to Honda Downtown Chicago and bought a 2013 Audi A6
On August 20, I flew to Honda Downtown Chicago and bought a 2013 Audi A6. I drove the car back to Mississippi that same night. The next day, the car wouldn't start. I took it to an Audi dealership and had two parts fixed. Moving forward, I received the title in the mail so I could get my license plate. However, the mileage on the title didn't match the mileage on the car. I called them and they asked me to send it back for correction. They sent me a new drive-out twice, but unfortunately, I got pulled over by the police and received a ticket. They informed me that I couldn't drive the car anymore. Later, my lien holder contacted me and informed me that there were two different Carfax reports for the car. The title turned out to be fraudulent, and they don't accept fraudulent titles. I've been trying to reach out to the dealership through phone calls and emails, but I haven't received any response from them. It's really frustrating because I have a full-time job that I need to get to, and I have three kids, two of whom are in school. It's becoming extremely difficult for me to get around. Could you please help me with my situation?
Bad/damaged AC condenser got installed in my Honda CR-V 2011 on June 9th
Bad/damaged AC condenser got installed in my Honda CR-V 2011 on June 9th. It ain't working now, as of July 12. Expansion and Evaporator valve weren't replaced, but *** wrote a report saying it was replaced on June 9th, but it actually wasn't. They also scratched-damaged the passenger side door. I took the car back on June 23rd to *** 'cause the AC still wasn't working. Another technician found out that the expansion and evaporator valve weren't replaced on June 9th, so they replaced it then. They suggested I leave the car for 2 days so they could fix the scratch. After a week, *** called me to pick up the car, but when I got there, the scratch wasn't fixed and they gave me the wrong statement. They mentally harassed me too. Then *** kept my car, and after *** intervened, they finally fixed the damaged area after a week. We didn't have the car for 2 weeks and went through a lot of suffering. Now, our AC ain't working even though we paid $2468.90.
On 11/29, I bought a used car, a Honda Civic 2018, from this dealership
On 11/29, I bought a used car, a Honda Civic 2018, from this dealership. They also convinced me to purchase a service contract for a whopping $4000.00 and tire/wheel protection for $795.00, even though I didn't really want them. The dealer didn't do a good job of explaining the costs to me, so I was left feeling a bit confused.
They gave me a website, https://miamiproductsupport.com/chicago-honda/, to cancel the service contract. So, on 11/30, I went ahead and cancelled it. I filled out all the necessary documents and even agreed to pay $75 for a faster process. But guess what? When I got the car payment notice, they hadn't deducted the $4795.00 from the total payoff. What a bummer!
I decided to reach out to the TDAutoFinance company to see what was going on. They told me that it's actually the dealer's responsibility to cancel the service contract. So, I sent an email to *** at Honda of Downtown Chicago, asking them to cancel the service plan. And you won't believe what they said! They told me it could take up to 6 months to cancel it. Can you imagine? Meanwhile, I'm stuck paying interest on $4795.00 for something I never even wanted in the first place.
I've had enough of this nonsense, so I'm planning to get the ComplaintsBoard.com (ComplaintsBoard.com) involved. I want them to step in and make sure the service contract and tire/wheel protection are cancelled right away. I just want to pay off my loan without any more interest payments. It's only fair, don't you think?
I took my car to Honda Of Downtown Chicago on 6/15/2022 for service
I took my car to Honda Of Downtown Chicago on 6/15/2022 for service. They fixed it like we talked about and said it would be ready on 6/22/2022. I picked it up around 11 am on 6/22/2022. We talked about how the dealer and the guarantee company were communicating and there were some differences. I went home around 3 pm and then went out to do some stuff. That's when I saw water-like stains on the driver's and passenger's seats. I called the dealer to talk to the service writer about what I found, but he wasn't there, so someone took a message. Around 7 pm, my husband took the car back to the dealer to talk to the boss, and they said they would call me to figure out how to check the seats. The boss was supposed to call the next day, but I never got a call, text, or email. So I called the dealer and left a bunch of messages all day. Friday came and went, and still no response. I called at least 3 times on Friday. They also said they would watch the video. I've been calling every day since I got the car, but I haven't been able to talk to the service writer, service manager, or boss. I emailed the boss (***) on 6/23/22, and I emailed the Service Manager on 7/6/22, but they haven't answered either. My car got damaged while it was in their care, and I want to fix it. I've been patient with the dealer, but now I'm out of patience because they haven't tried to fix what I found. I want the ComplaintsBoard.com to help since the dealer hasn't returned any of my many calls.
