$100 Synthetic oil change, turns into over $1600.
I bought my 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad from Corwin 1/30/16. The service dep't isn’t good. From one oil change causing oil to blow everywhere onto my motor from not properly setting the dipstick back in place... this just caused me a mess to clean, but no damage done other than that on this visit. Another time went in to have oil change and tire rotation. They stated they rotated the tires, but they didn't. They didn't know I marked my tires beforehand. Plus, the computer said what the air pressures were on each tire, no change…
Fast forward to 12/13/23. I went in for a routine oil change and a multi point inspection. They did the oil change, even though the synthetic oil is already dark and not so sure they actually did the inspection, even though the tech said he did it as I have an inspection in hand.
A couple days later, I backed out of my son's driveway only to see there were spots of something scattered on the concrete, about where my front tire had been, but about over about a foot. The next day I noticed the same thing on my driveway and neither set of spots would disappear. I thought maybe there was a little spill or sloppiness from the day I had it changed.
After New Years was over, I noticed this was progressively getting worse on the driveways, so I had my son look at the spots on his driveway and let me know if it was oil or something else. Of course, it was oil.
All I could think of is I needed to look at the inspection and see if there was anything on it that I had missed. According to the inspection, there were no leaks of any kind marked and no remarks made. This set my anxiety about this leak into overdrive. Since I've had other weird stuff happen after taking my vehicle to Corwin, I was recommended to take it to A-1 Custom and let them look at it and tell me what was happening. Well, since there was so much oil everywhere, they cleaned up what they could and put in a dye to run through my motor. They wanted me to drive it over the weekend a little to get the dye through and bring it back on Monday 1/8/24, which I did.
What I found out was sickening and so today I called the service dept and asked for the service manager (Allen), I told him of my concerns and he asked if I would allow them to look at the car, and I agreed they could.
I asked Allen when would be a good time and he said if I wanted to come in before 1 he’d be able to look at it with the shop foreman (Jonathan Sauchuk). I got there about 12pm only for them to look at it and take me out and tell me these cars are famous for the oil filter housing to break since they are only plastic… which I understand this, but at 88K miles, not hard driven, I mean I still have my original brakes that came on the car if that says anything. However, they mentioned this wasn’t anything that they would’ve done to harm my car. So basically, saying these can break at any time and it’s not any fault of theirs. Coincidently, the oil leak only started after they had it in their shop for an oil change. How convenient for them to place blame elsewhere.
How are we able to hold these places accountable for any work they do? I know, I’m just a woman on a limited income, who doesn’t know anything, except that I’m being lied to directly. But, this isn’t the way to conduct business and expect referrals or returning customers. You have literally cost me almost $2000.00 to fix a problem that shouldn’t have been a problem to begin with.
Bill from A-1 Custom
Inspect, degrease and dye $125.15
Oil filter housing and labor $721.86
Engine Valve Cover Gasket Set, Fuel Injection Plenum Gasket Set and labor $699.12
Shop supplies $29.99
Taxes $53.56
Grand total $ 1629.68
Tell your Tech Jonathan Thompson, Great job on this oil change. I refuse to let Corwin touch my vehicle again. But, I do believe this issue should be paid for by them, back to me for refund of what I’ve already gotten a loan to pay for work being started on 1/11/24.
Recommendation: Use at your own risk of damage
Our Dodge Dart has been sitting at Corwin for 2 months now, broken
Our Dodge Dart has been sitting at Corwin for 2 months now, broken. There was an issue with the transmission. They keep saying they don't know what's wrong with it, and for the last 2 weeks, no answer on the status of the car. I would never recommend this place.
I brought my wife's car to Corwin Dodge on Sunshine St in Springfield
I brought my wife's car to Corwin Dodge on Sunshine St in Springfield. They couldn't fix the radio, and the service manager told me to go somewhere else. To make matters worse, he even spit on me. I reported the incident to the general manager, but he just laughed and said it didn't happen. He also mentioned that even if it did, nothing would be done about it. This all happened while the car was still under factory warranty.
I recently purchased a pre-owned truck from Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield and had a concern about a mildew smell coming from the air
I recently purchased a pre-owned truck from Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield and had a concern about a mildew smell coming from the air conditioning. When I asked the salesman about it, he assured me that it was not a problem since the truck had not been used much in the past few months. However, when I took it to my mechanic, I was informed that it would cost $950.00 to fix the issue.
Feeling frustrated, I decided to return to Corwin and requested to speak with the General Manager. Instead, I was directed to someone in the repair department who advised me to take the truck back to the dealer on Glenstone. I then spoke to the salesman again, and he simply stated, "We are in business to make money," implying that my concerns were not a priority.
I can't help but feel like I was taken advantage of and that there is nothing I can do about it.
I went online to schedule service at Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield
I went online to schedule service at Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield. I needed a replacement key fob with programming. I made an appointment and left a brief explanation of the service I needed. This was done four days ago. I received a confirmation of my appointment for May 18, 2022, at 8:15 am. I was sent a confirmation email with the address on West Sunshine. I went there, but the location was closed. So, I drove through town during rush hour to find out that the business had moved. I had to search for the new location using Google. It turned out to be on the other side of town. I was late for my appointment. I told them about the address issue and showed them the email with the incorrect address. I asked when they moved, and they told me it was last October. I asked why they hadn't changed the email template, and they gave me the usual answer, "we will look into it." Then, when confirming the reason for my visit, the service representative said they would need to check if the replacement fob was available. He sat down at his desk, called parts, and found out that they had to order it. It would take a week. I asked the service representative if anyone checks service requests to ensure that everything is available to complete the job smoothly. It seems like a reasonable idea to avoid wasting their time and mine. He said it's not usually done. My service request was straightforward and fully explained in preparation for the visit. I expected to have the work done at that time. I was totally frustrated and left. I would NOT recommend this dealership for service. The service was second rate at best. The incorrect address on the service email responses is just poor business practice and suggests little care for the customer. The fact that it hasn't been changed in 7 months emphasizes this. I would suggest looking for another dealership if you're interested in the products they offer.

I sold them a vehicle 3 weeks ago
I sold them a vehicle 3 weeks ago. They told me they would pay me once the title was dropped off. I dropped off the title, but then they said Bank of America would be the one to pay me. Bank of America claims that Corwin is responsible for the payment. Now, Corwin is refusing to pay me for the vehicle.
I bought a car (2016 Dodge Charger) on September 16
I bought a car (2016 Dodge Charger) on September 16. I had some issues with my job and thought I would get a raise, but it didn't happen. I can't afford the car or the insurance. I called the dealership within 24 hours and asked to return the car, but they said no. I did this within three days. I called them multiple times, and each time they said no. I also sent an email. I spoke to the finance company, which I found out was through the dealership, and they told me that the loans usually take three to four weeks to go through. They could have stopped it as a gesture of goodwill, but they chose not to. The car has been sitting in the driveway since then, without being registered or licensed.
I bought a car in November '21, and we still haven't received the title
I bought a car in November '21, and we still haven't received the title. About a week after we bought it, the service engine light came on. I called them, and they said they would get a shop ticket in and told me to bring it in after they called back. However, they never called back. A few months later, I called them again about the service light. They had me take it somewhere else, claiming it would be fixed, but it wasn't. They had the car for 5 weeks. After another round of this, they instructed me to take it somewhere else. When I arrived, the new place had no knowledge of the car's history. Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield has repeatedly lied to me. It has been 8 months, and I still don't have the title. I contacted the lender, and they advised me to return the car to Corwin, but now Corwin refuses to communicate with me.
I trusted them to fix my old car that I need to get to and from work
I trusted them to fix my old car that I need to get to and from work. They charged a lot and I paid it in full. While they had my car, they put the windows down and left them in the rain. My car seats and floors got soaked. My windows no longer work, even though they worked perfectly before this. Then they lied and said I left them down. The tow truck driver has pictures of my car in my driveway and at the shop. All windows are up. They said they didn't have time for it and sent me off with windows all the way down and a 100% chance of rain. I didn't have a ride, and they wouldn't bring me home or let me leave it there. I'm an old woman with an old car that has to work. They ruined my car, and they don't care. I can't afford cabs to and from work and the store. I'm in a mess. I trusted them.
I took my 2007 Chrysler 300C to the service department at Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield because it had a problem
I took my 2007 Chrysler 300C to the service department at Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield because it had a problem. The car wouldn't go faster than 30 mph and the turn signals, lights, and windshield wipers weren't working. They said they fixed the speed issue, but the other problems remained. I went back and paid for another test, and they told me it was the clockspring and the steering wheel control module. I bought both parts from the dealership, but they didn't solve the problem. The service technician had really bad customer service, so I had to talk to the manager. The manager tried to make things better, but they didn't offer to fix the problem or give me a refund. It's been two weeks now, and the car still isn't fixed, even though I paid for dealership parts and two tests.
I took my jeep in for an AC diagnosis for $149, but then they told me they would have to charge me an additional $400 to diagnose the back
I took my jeep in for an AC diagnosis for $149, but then they told me they would have to charge me an additional $400 to diagnose the back. After that, they said they would charge me $400 to put it back together while waiting for a part. They ended up keeping my car for over a month and then informed me that there was another issue with the air conditioning, which would cost an additional $1000. When they finally finished the work, they claimed that the total cost for the work and parts was over $7000?! However, since I was inconvenienced, they said they would charge me $3100 instead. I am an elderly person with leukemia, living alone on a fixed income, and I can't help but feel that this is a scam to take advantage of people like me. If they had quoted me this price and told me that I would be without a car for such a long time, I would have chosen to go without the repairs. Now, I have to use my savings to retrieve my car, or else they will keep it. The business practices displayed here were unethical, dishonest, and absolutely terrible!
I had my car towed to Corwin on Feb 24th for a low oil pressure warning light
I had my car towed to Corwin on Feb 24th for a low oil pressure warning light. They said it was a bad sensor and I said okay to replacing it and fixing something else small. But when I drove home, the warning light came back on. So, I took it back on March 8th for more checking. On March 18th, the service rep called and said they couldn't find anything wrong, just a bad electrical connection with the sensor giving a wrong reading. They said the car was fine to drive. But guess what? On the same day, the oil pump broke and messed up the engine real bad. I had to tow it back to Corwin on March 25th. And after waiting for 2 months, they finally said the car needed a new engine. On May 14th, I agreed to get a new engine, but only if we split the costs. The new engine came on May 26th, but my car is still sitting there, not fixed, and I have no idea when it will be done.
Incompetent and dishonest
Incompetent and dishonest. That's why dealers get a bad rep. We took our *** to Corwin Jeep to get a module programmed. They had the vehicle for about a month. Because the module was super expensive at over $3,200, we decided to give them a used one. They initially said it would cost $165 to program. After a week, they asked to remove the bumper for $850, and we said okay, but then we didn't hear anything. Finally, after almost a month, we reached out to them and they said their technician couldn't program the module. They said our only option was to buy a new module for $3,200, but we said no and went to *** to get it done instead. They used the same module we gave Corwin and only charged us $850, and they finished the job in just 30 minutes. They also told us that the bumper didn't need to be removed, even though Corwin charged us $850 for it. *** was our service advisor at Corwin, and he asked us to keep him updated. Afterward, I talked to *** about what happened, and then a guy named ***, who seemed like a manager, came by and said he couldn't help. No apology. No empathy. It was a terrible experience, to say the least.
In the past, I had a bad experience with Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield
In the past, I had a bad experience with Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield. I brought my Jeep in for an oil change, but when I picked it up, I noticed that the radiator had a crack in it and needed to be repaired. My Jeep was perfectly fine before I took it in, so I was really upset. I had to pay my warranty deductible to get it fixed, which was not fair. I should have complained about it at the time, but instead, I decided to cancel my service package and extended warranty with them.
A few years later, I decided to give them another chance. I traded in my old Jeep for a newer one, and the sales team was really great. I hoped that the person who caused the problem with my previous Jeep was no longer working there. I took my Jeep in today for an oil change and tire rotation. I had called ahead and asked about a coupon I had for $39.00, which was specifically for my Jeep. I mentioned it when I checked in.
When I went to pay, the service guy (who was really nice) asked why the total was $166.00. Then, the guy who caused problems with my old Jeep came up. He pointed to the receipt and said it was because they used diesel oil. But my Jeep is not a diesel! He printed out another receipt showing that they used synthetic oil and said my coupon was not valid for synthetic oil. I asked if they had put diesel in my Jeep, and he hesitated before saying no. In the end, I had to pay $97.05.
I filed a complaint with Jeep because I don't want to be held responsible if there is any damage to my Jeep as a result of this. People need to be aware of what is happening in the service department at Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield. It's not right that they send out coupons that are specific to your vehicle's identification number (VIN), but then don't ask if you want synthetic oil and potentially put diesel in your non-diesel vehicle. I talked to other dealerships, and they said they charge based on what they actually put in your vehicle.
Corwin Dodge Jeep Ram of Springfield had a chance to make things right after messing up with my old Jeep, but they won't get a third chance from me. I hope they look into this issue before other people end up with damage to their vehicles and have to pay unexpected extra money.
I bought a new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee on 05/16/2022 for an undisclosed amount
I bought a new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee on 05/16/2022 for an undisclosed amount. On June 1st, when we were getting ready for a family vacation, our new car wouldn't start. The key fobs couldn't connect with the car. We reached out to both Corwin Dealership (where we bought it) and a nearby dealership. Both dealerships tried to figure out the problem but couldn't. We had to tow the car to the nearby dealership to get it fixed. They said a transducer was loose and they tightened it to solve the issue. On June 11th, the same thing happened again, and we had to tow it back to the nearby dealership. I called Corwin on June 11th and told them I wanted to return the car because it was frustrating to deal with an unreliable new car. They said the general manager would call me on Monday morning, June 13th. I didn't get a call on Monday morning, so I called them in the afternoon to follow up. They said the general manager was on vacation until 06/17/2022. I asked to speak to whoever was in charge while the general manager was away. Since then, I've been sent to different voicemails every day and only got one call back, which I missed because I was on the phone with Jeep Wave about the towing. The dealership contacted me yesterday, 06/15/2022, and told me that the reason the car still won't start is because a recall wasn't fixed before I bought it. The recall was z23. The dealership also said that the part needed for the fix is easy to install but hard to find right now. They estimated that the repairs would be done by the end of July 2022, which means I'll have to make 2 car payments before I even get the car back. The recall serial number ended in AM, and the replacement parts were supposed to be AL. The dealership sent me photos showing it.
