Our decisions can be influenced by emotions, feelings, and intuition, often unconsciously. For example, the story of New Coke in 1985 shows that despite a preference for the taste of New Coke over the original in blind tests, Coca-Cola underestimated the strong emotional connection people had with the original Coke. This emotional connection, built over nearly a hundred years of marketing, influenced people's preferences and ultimately led to the failure of New Coke.

A clear articulate presentation on what neuroscience can tell us about decision making. Dr. Wu's examples were extremely helpful in understanding the dynamics of the brain and how it is impacted by unconscious influences.

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck ads are one of the best ads there are. Even decades after, the memories of childhood warm my thoughts when Christmas comes around and I see the coke truck ads. Coca-Cola feels warm, and Pepsi feels cold. Partly probably because of the color. I don't feel anything toward Pepsi, but still, Pepsi Max is my drink of choice because it's the best-tasting sugar-free soda. So, even though my old brain is tickled by the emotions of Coca-Cola branding, the emotions of a good flavor are stronger.
