Denial of coverage/Coverage cancelltion/involuntary change of plan
Worst insurance experience ever. Humana denied Medicare prescription covereage in 2019 for the only Med I was using. After a 6 month internal appeal process was unsucsessful Humana was overruled by an outside Medicare appeals board (Maximus) and Humana was directed to cover the Med. The policy I had in 2019 was replaced in 2020 with their "Premier" plan with no input from me whereby my monthly premium went from $20.27 to more than $57 dollars. In June 2020 after covering the subject Med under the 2020 policy, Humana again denied coverage from the same Med with a mini 3 page "lecture" on why I shouldn't use the subject medication (Keep in mind Humana had no access to my medical history and chose to ignore MD prescription form two separate MDs.) Their internal appeal process is a "kangaroo court" where it's a virtual certainty they will not reverse an intial coverage decision. My 2020 policy was cancelled 3 months before expiration based on an out of state change of address. I sincerely believe that Humana looks for ways to avoid coverage and relies on that most insured will eventually accept their decision.

Pharmacy
Humana now look like don't want to cover for name brand medications, I'm having a problem now Humana don't want to pay my Pharmacy for my medication filed of Neurontin, My Neuroscience Doctor order it name brand. yesterday (/10/21 I call my Pharmacy few days ago for a refill and they told me To call Human for a problem solve on this medication, What seem to be the problem with you people? now I'm going to be with out my medication and you all are going to ruin my health, over 1600 people I have on my Internet list, I will pass this around so they know the real Humana Insurance is.
Total disappointment
1. My husband and I are both Humana Gold Plus members. We've been waiting for a reimbursement of $179 for services rendered 12/15/20. Spent countless hours on the phone, wrote a letter, still no reimbursement or satisfaction.
2. Cannot log in. After spending an hour with your team, I still can't login. May not be signing up with Humana again when open enrollment opens up.
Desired outcome: Someone to take responsibility and reimburse us.
They denied a prescription but lied and stated my pharmacist lied to me
I need s as compound prescription my doctor sent for nerve pain to a specialty pharmacy that does compounding on 8/25/2021. Drugstore called me and told me Humana stated not covered snd I can pay if I want the drug. I paid. I called humans numerous times toddy and yesterday, went in their website to ask why. Hydroxychloroquine
I have lupus and have taken hydroxychloroquine for years. The product I have always used that works with my lupus is manufactured by Watson Labs. Humana is now using another manufacturer to supply hydroychloroquine. The product must have different ingredients because it does not help with my lupus flares. I have contacted Humana pharmacy and asked for the medication with the same ingredients as Watson 698 200
but the pharmacists insists that there is no difference. This is not true. Plaquenil is the patented drug and in order for another manufacturer to produce a generic version the ingredients must be different. I was on automatic refill with Humana sending a 90 day supply. I called 2 weeks ago and asked them to cancel the automatic refill and received an email today that they are again sending me a 90 day supply of hydroxychloroquine that I will throw in the trash. I am still without the medication I need to treat my Lupus and no one in Humana that can assist in finding a pharmacy that can provide the hydroxychloroquine Watson 698 200 pill which is now manufactured by Actavis.

My copay was $1.40, then I get a letter that said my claim had to be re-processed and that I owed them $28.43. I had auto-pay on so I expected the payment to be that. Then I look at my bank account and they took out $51.60 with no letter telling me their was additional charges. I got a letter today (August 14th 2021), telling me my co-pay is now $17.20. I immediately turned off my auto-pay and now I have no money.
Desired outcome: Outcome is Cancle my coverage beause it seems to change alot. Never had a problem with insurance before.
Prescription drugs
Humana pharmacy uses highly inflated drug prices to put customers in to their insurance coverage gap (donut hole). When I tried to refill my prescription for two inhalers while in coverage gap Humana quoted a price of $523 and if you walk in to any pharmacy in the Midwest without insurance it would cost you no more than $120, Humana is blatantly ripping off customers that have have Humana drug insurance.
Desired outcome: Humana quits robbing customers
Humana would not renew before the end of the year instead they rolled the prescription over to my new plan for this year. Which will put me into that donut hole before the end of this year. Humana / CenterWell didn’t inform me that I would no longer be able to get my diabetic supplies from my local neighborhood pharmacy but instead would have to get them from a company that they have partnered with for diabetic supplies called CCS medical for diabetic supplies which would have been just fine had they given me the heads-up of the change, and allowed diabetics time to insure that they had enough supplies to get through the first month of the new year. As it stands my monitor has 7 more days left on it before it expires, and I have no replacement. No pills and no way to control my blood sugar levels. If it gets too high I could die! I was on the phone with CenterWell, Humana and the new company CCS Diabetic supplies for 4 hours today 1/10/22 Tuesday and both last Thursday and Friday trying to get this problem resolved. As of now I am left in the hands of the US postal service and my doctors office which still haven’t recovered from the pandemic as far as office management, faxes can sit on the machine for weeks before they’re even read.
I stopped taking Humana’s pills last year for diabetes last year and reported to Humana’s pharmacy that the pills that they were sending me were not formulated correctly because I could take 2 to 3 of Humana’s pills for sugar control and my sugar levels wouldn’t change but when I switched to a local pharmacy 1/2 of a pill brought my sugar levels so low that I had to drink a glass of orange juice or a regular soda to keep them my sugar levels from dropping out. I was never contacted by Humana’s pharmacy about this complaint. Giving a diabetic a placebo or medication that is not the same equivalent as the original medication is like playing Russian roulette with a patient’s life.
Dr Gopez
I don't appreciate Dr Gopez calling my office and telling my office manager I am not qualified to diagnose and treat orthopedic condition because I'm just an internal medicine physician. I have been doing this for 25 years and I believe if Dr Gopez will think about it, I'm quite cost effective. What kind of business would make such a call to a doctors office and belittle the physician in such a manner.

Peer to peer review
My husband is due heart surgery necessary before having a mytral valve repair. Today is 7/22/21. The surgery is scheduled for 3PM tomorrow. Humana has insisted on a peer to peer review, resulting in the hospital saying we will be responsible for all charges if Humana does not come through. A cardiac surgeon from the University of Colorado Medical has requested this surgery. What right does ANY insurance company have thinking they know more than the doctors who are personally involved with the patient? A mitral valve regurgitation of 35% (which my husband has) is over 50% fatal if not treated. Not only is Humana playing games with my husband's life, but the "peer-to-peer" practice itself is detrimental to ALL patients. It exists ONLY to save money for the insurance companies.

Good Afternoon, My name is Tyshondra Barnes I am writing a letter of compliant in regards to my dental plan in addition, I being this dental plan for quite some time now. I have received the proper service under this dental plan and they have provided no information. The dental plan / under Dentaquest provided with three dental offices and there services was horrible moreover, I had to file a compliant '' Aspen Dental Dr. Trambas Constantine DDS, Brite Dental. There services were ruled I addressed this several times with Humana within this year 2021 about the problems and to this day nothing has being done
OTC order
I tried to order on June 30th 2021, 3 items. 1 #362 nasal strips, 1 #471 Water Jet teeth cleaner and 1 #472 Water Jet tips. I had a $75 allowance for the quarter. I was unable to place the order online because when I tried to finish your website read having problems and saying it would be fixed and try again. I tried 3 more times and it was still down. I chatted online to report the problem and your rep. said she would order for me. She texted the Water Jet, the nasal strips and the water jet picks. I checked my order Jul 1st and found that she had mistakenly ordered me 3 sets of water pick replacements instead of 1 and 4 sets of nasal strips instead of 1 and did not order my Water Jet machine. I called the OTC dept. and was told pretty much that there was nothing I could do even though your chat rep. grossly messed up my order and depleted almost all my allowance on extra items I didn't order and now I can't get my Water Jet machine but I have alot of extra water jet replacement tips I don't need. Poor service on pre-treatment estimate date 01/06/2021
My name is robert t. Alpha sr. I have experienced poor response from humana complete dental ppo. My first issue related to questions I had with a claim for service on 12/14/2019. The price I was charged and the pre treatment was never responded to in spite of phone calls, etc. Fast forward to 04/02/2021. I called humana to get a contact to send a pretreatment to. A gentleman akeem answered and gave me his direct fax number to send my information to; #[protected]. After waiting for two weeks I called to check on the estimate. After a tedious search my paperwork was located and I was told a pretreatment estimated would be mailed nlt 05/22/2021. I did not receive so I called on friday 05/28/2021 and spoke with karen phone number [protected]. She was unable to locate my paperwork. She asked that I resend which I did at 12:55 pm 06/01/2021, today. If past experience is any indication of what to expect i'm not holding my breath. It would be nice though to see improved service from humana.

Monthly debit
Ongoing issue since jan 2021. All avenues lead to no solutions. Have had automatic debit since 2014 but all of a sudden it doesnt happen. Why? Since 2014 I have to call every month to get the debit done. Every one has the same comment — I dont know y it is not debited as file says to auto debit each month on 4th but never happens! Am very much to my limit on dealing with humana incompetence! Not a very pleased customer at this time as if anyone will listen or get back with me on this
In house pharmacy
Good morning. I am not sure this will even help me. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her2 3 positive to be exact. One of the drugs in my chemo treatment is giving g me severe diarrhea. I am meaning all day every day. My oncologists sent over a script for a powder medicine for me. That wad on monday the 17th of may. The pharmacy called me on wednesday to tell theynreceived the script but had to order it. Said it would be that thursday the 20th. My 85 year old mother hug as to drive me now. So, we get to the pharmacy which is inside intermountain. She goes in for me and waits 29 minutes only to be told, its not ready as, the server has not put the correct t bottle size on for us. What? It is now friday may 21st. My suffering is beyond words right now. I don't understand why this pharmacy is playing with me like this. What kind of person intentionally withholds a sick persons medication. Can you help me please. I can not bare to think I will have to go the whole wee in end without this medication. Unauthorized changing of insurance company by outside party
I am the legal guardian of Sammye Wood. I received her forwarded mail on May 14 stating pending changes.
The applications was filled out by MIRANDA JENKINS. She works for Health Insurance Associates. She stated that Sammye told her she had missed her enrollment period. Sammye is extremely deaf, & does not answer unknown numbers, and she loves her current insurance which she has had for 15 years. I feel this is fraud and I am filing a complaint with Medicare, Department of HHS, AARP, COUNCIL on Aging etc. etc.
Your staff resolved the issue when Sammye said she did not want Humana. How devastating for an Elderly person (86y/o) to lose their established Providers and starting over to make new appts, Pharms, Drs, clinics, and hospitals. Luckily she had someone watching over her. Not all elderly people have that and it would a nightmare to resolve after the fact.

Payments Not Reveived
I have a provider whos claims are being processed by Humana under someone other than the provider's tax ID causing claim payments to be issued to the wrong address. We have been calling Humana for 2 years trying to get these claims processed under the correct tax ID ( the one listed on the 1500 form). Each time we call we are told the claim will be reprocessed under the correct Tax ID. This has been going on since 2019. We have 14 outstanding claims still waiting to be reprocessed. All out new claims that get sent to Humana continue to process under someone else's tax ID. Please tell me how this is legal? Shouldn't Humana process a claim according to the 1500 form being submitted? We reached out to credentialing but because the provider is out of network they will not help us. This is ridiculous! Under no circumstance should it take 2 years to get a payment to the provider. Oh and it that wasn't enough, the provider also received recoupment notices for the checks that were made to the other provider! I'm so over Humana and I've advised the provider to not accept anymore Humana patients.

Customer service representatives' lack of knowledge & giving wrong information
I have called Humana Pharmacy several times about my cost for certain prescribed medications. Each time, the Customer Service Rep did not know how to spell or pronounce the drug. Even after I spelled it several times, told her how it is administered etc., the person could not "find" it in her online list. The most recent call was about Epinephrine injectable to be used in case of anaphylactic allergic reaction. I called to get my cost for the drug if submitted to Humana Pharmacy. I called on March 25, 2021, March 31, 2021, and on April 22, 2021. I spoke to a different person each time. The only one that could find epinephrine in Epi Pens was the woman I spoke to on April 22 (after 20 minutes of spelling it and explaining several times how & why it is administered). Eventually, she told me that my total cost would be $47; and, to submit a check with the prescription in the mail. I did exactly that ; and, I received the Epi Pens in the mail with a bill for $131! I now owe $84. If I had known that, I would have bought the Epi Pens at a local pharmacy with my Good Rx card, saving time and money. So much time has been spent with customer service reps who have no idea about what they are doing! I have wondered if some that I talked to could even read. Another woman to whom I spoke could barely converse with me due to her poor English grammar. Another time one told me that I would have to pay full price for Zetia from Humana Pharmacy; so I got it from a local pharmacy with my Good Rx card for a greatly reduced price. Later I learned that the rep misinformed me; actually I could have gotten it from Humana without paying any co-pay! I paid the local pharmacy for Zetia for 1 year!
Desired outcome: I think that I should not be charged the additional $84 for the Epi Pens. I have already submitted the amount that the Humana Pharmacy rep told me to pay and that check has been received and cashed by the pharmacy.
As someone who has been trying to deal with a simple matter with Humana for two weeks, I wrote the following letter, which I am certain will be ignored. Buyer beware:
To Whom It May Concern
After spending two weeks trying to get some sort of assistance from your customer “service” people, I feel that the only recourse I have left is to write this letter. I believe that it will not be given anything but the most cursory glance, and will be followed by some standard reply that indicates absolutely no understanding of what I was upset about, but for the principle of the thing, I will say my piece.
I tried to log in to my husband’s Humana account because I needed to look at some statements. Despite having been an account holder for over two years, I was rejected several times due to login or password problems and then locked out.
Okay, I get it. Happens all the time. After following the password reset instructions, I was still unable to log in. I called and requested technical assistance to help me fix my problem.
I spoke at length (great length) with an individual named Manuel, who had me make several repeated attempts to log in, reset my password, try logging in a from different device, etc. etc. After about forty minutes of trying everything that he could think of, he said he would have to submit a ticket, which he did, giving me the ticket number INC11656784. He assured me that I would be contacted within the next couple of days.
Having not heard anything after several days, I called back, this time speaking with Julie, who commiserated with me but said no notes had been placed on my account indicating that I had ever called, so we started again from square one. She told me that she didn’t have anything to do with tech support, but assured me that someone would contact me in a few days to help me, and that she would note my account accordingly.
This brings me to today. Someone named Karnee (? sounds like Carney with the emphasis on the second syllable) refused to discuss my problem because I didn’t have a man standing next to me who could claim that he was my husband. I didn’t appreciate that, so she transferred me to Ty who also told me that she wouldn’t help me, even though my account had been noted pertaining to my previous call.
In summary, after four telephone calls I am still not able to access the account. No one offered me any alternative, nor did they apologize for failing to follow up and wasting my time for two weeks. At no point did anyone offer to mail me the oh, so very essential letter giving me permission to take care of my husband’s account.
This is how you do business. Make promise after promise, and when you don’t follow through on those commitments, you deflect from your failure by telling me I am not authorized to discuss the account—even after having discussed it on two separate occasions with two different reps.
You people sure love to say how important your customers are, but you know nothing about customer service. I worked in customer service and technical support for over 20 years, and you don’t have a clue. Basic Customer Relations 101 (not to mention common decency) says that when you make a commitment to follow up with a customer, you do so.
I am so disgusted. I fully realize that I am just one person and you couldn’t care less, but rest assured that I will tell everyone I know how woefully lacking you are in customer service.
