Hurley & David is a reliable and capable company
Hurley & David is a reliable and capable company. They may not be the cheapest option, but that's alright with me. I would definitely use their services again.
Efficient and knowledgable!
Efficient and knowledgable! I called and was taken care of right away with excellent service!
I had a really good experience with Hurley & David
I had a really good experience with Hurley & David. Louis was super polite and knew his stuff. He made sure to explain everything to me, including the problems I was having and what options I had. It was great dealing with them and I would definitely go back to them again.
Hurley & David is the best
Hurley & David is the best. We've used them for years for heating and plumbing. No matter who comes, they're all very professional, knowledgable, courteous, and trustworthy. I highly recommend them. You'll be very satisfied with their work.
I got my furnace put in on October 16
I got my furnace put in on October 16. Today is November 19 and after several phone calls and leaving messages, they still haven't returned my call or come to inspect the furnace. I'm really disappointed and I don't recommend this business at all.
Great HVAC service today!
Great HVAC service today! I can't say enough 'bout the professionalism displayed today. The technician was real thorough and made sure I was happy with the service review provided today. All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of not only the technician but the homeowner as well. Much appreciated. If I could give a SIX STAR review I would.
This company ain't reputable!
This company ain't reputable! I got papers sayin' my AC units got warranty, and more papers sayin' the work they did a few months back got a warranty for a year. But HD don't care 'bout none of that! They won't back up their work and they don't even call ya back! Do yourself a favor and find another company to give your business to!
So, I had this technician from Hurley & David come over to check out my AC
So, I had this technician from Hurley & David come over to check out my AC. He barely glanced at anything and immediately told me I needed a whole new AC system, which would cost a whopping $15,000. I was pretty upset because it was scorching hot outside, like a hundred degrees, you know? But then they said they'd give me a discount for friends and family, so it would only be ***. I agreed, even though they couldn't start the work for another week and a half. It's funny because their commercial claims they can do the installation the next day or it's free. Anyway, my friend, who's been in the HVAC business forever, came by and took a look at my unit. Turns out, all it needed was a new blade, which cost me only 200 bucks. And now, it's working like brand new! It's pretty clear that this company doesn't really know what they're doing and they're not afraid to take your money. Consider yourself warned.
I live in Chicopee, MA and I recently called Hurley and David because my outside AC Unit stopped working
I live in Chicopee, MA and I recently called Hurley and David because my outside AC Unit stopped working. The Service Manager approached me and asked if I was aware of the $79.00 service charge. I didn't mind paying it because most companies have a service fee. Hurley and David provided me with an estimate of $900.00 just for the parts. They quoted me $795.99 for the Fan Motor, which is a GOODMAN Model CM30-1EB. Additionally, I needed a Dual compassitor 355, which they priced at $225.00. So, the total for the parts alone was over $900.00.
Curious about the prices, I visited the GOODMEN Company website. There, I found that the Fan Motor costs $100.00 and the 355 Compasitor is priced at $25.00. With tax, the total for the parts came to $140.00. This means that Hurley and David were marking up the parts by over 900%.
Despite this, Hurley and David are a successful and reputable company. I just can't comprehend why they would charge such a high markup for the parts alone. Can you?
The technicians were great, but everything else about this business has been a huge headache
The technicians were great, but everything else about this business has been a huge headache. It's a family-owned company that really misses the mark when it comes to customer service and getting the job done. About a year ago, I hired them to work on my 92-year-old mom's furnace, AC, and hot water heater. But as soon as they finished, a breaker tripped and she was left without heat for three whole days. It was freezing inside her house, and it was even colder outside. When I called their customer service, all they cared about was charging me for the service call instead of actually helping us. It was unbelievable how heartless they were about the terrible living conditions my mom had to endure. And it didn't end there. Over the past year, we've had more issues with tripped breakers, which meant more service calls. And guess what? They still haven't finished a job they started five months ago. And now, to top it all off, the humidifier they installed fell off the system. When I brought it up, they immediately denied any responsibility. Can you believe that? I tried calling to speak to a manager today, but I was put on hold for a whopping 27 minutes. And when someone finally answered, they had absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. It's been hours, and I'm still waiting for a call back. If you have all the time in the world to chase after these people, then go ahead and hire them. But if you actually want to be treated with care and respect, especially if you're elderly, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Should be -3 stars!
Should be -3 stars! This is no longer a local company. The right hand doesn't know what to do because the left hasn't shown up. Everything about the installation of my 2 units has been a nightmare, beginning October . 2 days before the start date I hadn't heard from H&D, so I called them and was told that my installation date was never in October (regardless of the phone conversation and confirmation email) and that the installation would begin soon. They could not explain the delay and couldn't put me in touch with anyone who could, though he promised someone would call me back. No one called me in 2 days, so I had to follow up/remain on hold for hours while I was sent from 1 person to another, disconnected etc. before someone could finally tell me the delay was due to the supply chain, which I could understand, but why it took days and several people not knowing this is beyond me. When H&D finally installed the 1st unit they couldn't get it to work properly. The tech told me he was leaving for the day and did not know when he was returning, but that H&D would be calling to schedule a follow-up. After waiting a week I called H&D and no one could tell me when a tech would be out to complete the installation of the 1st unit (2nd was still on order). This was during the end of November, when you would want a functioning heat source. 2 and a half weeks after the installation began they finally came back to finish the 1st installation and start the 2nd. Still couldn't get the units to work properly after 2 full days and left us without a fully-functioning heating unit over a weekend. Now, after 3 months, several emails trying to pay the outstanding balance through the financial option given on their website, H&D still can't figure out how to apply my payment and is sending me late notices and leaving threatening voicemails, though never responding to my requests for calls or emails. There's way more to this, but I've run out of space. HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH!
Hurley & David, they make promises but don't follow through
Hurley & David, they make promises but don't follow through. Here's my horror story. In July , I called Hurley & David because my unit wasn't cooling the whole house. They sent a technician to check it out. After the diagnostic, they said the unit needed to be replaced because the lines were freezing and something else (I didn't understand the technical terms, not an HVAC expert). So, they sent a salesperson who also checked and measured the unit and duct work. They said my unit wasn't working properly, which explained why I wasn't getting enough air or heat on the second floor of my 2000 sq ft house. The salesperson said we needed a bigger unit to solve the problem and showed us the best option ($16,364). We agreed and scheduled the installation for the following week. When it was done, the problem was still there, no difference. I asked the installer why it wasn't cooling the second floor, and he said he would check again, but still no change. I asked him to call the company, and they sent another technician who also checked and said there was nothing they could do. He asked if I was told that the unit would cover both floors, but I didn't understand since the salesman guaranteed it would work for the whole house. The technician said it wouldn't. This answer was acceptable. The technician called the service manager, who came out and said everything was working great. I told him it was only on the first floor, and he asked the same question as the technician about the second floor. We were told the unit would work for both floors. And that's where it ends.
We hired Hurley and David to do our fall furnace "tune up" and change the filters
We hired Hurley and David to do our fall furnace "tune up" and change the filters. The guy came on time. He checked & tested the system, changed the filters, and took pics. He said the heat exchangers had cracks. He said we should replace them and turn off the system to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. He made us sign a waiver if we kept the heat on. We asked for an estimate to replace the exchangers and the appointment date. They gave us a written estimate of over $4,400 and kept saying it covered parts and labor. The company says the repair cost includes parts, labor, truck maintenance, warehouse staff, customer service, and a 2-year warranty. Luckily, I found the original documents and warranty info for our heating system. The exchangers are covered by a lifetime warranty that can be transferred. I called the warranty department and they confirmed the parts were available. I called Hurley David and asked for a new estimate for just labor. They said the estimate I got was only for labor. I said the written invoice mentioned parts and labor. I asked to talk to the service department manager. They said the price would double with parts and that the original invoice was only for labor. We thanked them and slept with the windows open, heat low, scared of carbon monoxide or worse. The Trane warranty department gave us three names of local authorized dealers who could come right away. They checked the two furnaces for three hours, fans, intakes, ignition, exchangers, combustion, etc. They showed us areas that weren't cleaned during the service by Hurley & David. We took pics of debris left in areas that should be checked during routine servicing. The combustion rate was checked multiple times and it was perfect before and after the service. They said with 99.9% certainty that the exchangers weren't cracked and both furnaces were running well. We lived in fear for four days, paid for incomplete service, and the estimate was changed from parts and labor to just "labor" when we found out about the warranty claim. I wouldn't recommend this company.
I recently had an appointment with Hurley and David to tune up my furnace
I recently had an appointment with Hurley and David to tune up my furnace. The first appointment was on 10/22, and they said they would come between 2-6pm. I called 2 hours before to confirm, and they said it was still on. But at 2:15pm, they called to say the technician they were sending was unavailable, and they didn't have anyone else available that day. I was upset because I took the day off work to wait for them, and they told me last minute that no one would show up. I rescheduled for the following Friday (10/29) at 8am. I called the day before to confirm, and they said it was still happening. I made sure to be home again, but by 8:15am, no one had arrived. I called to ask what was going on and was put on hold for 20 minutes with no answer, so I hung up and called back. I spoke to a customer service representative who said no one was in dispatch, but it seemed like someone was on their way. While I was on the phone, I received a text message saying the technician was on their way. It was now 8:30am, and the tech showed up a little later. He came into my home and was very nice. However, when I told him my home was heated with oil, he said he only dealt with gas, not oil. I asked him to call the office to get someone else out today since I had already rescheduled once and couldn't take another day off. While the tech was outside, I called customer service to let them know they sent the wrong person for my boiler. They said they couldn't get anyone until 2pm or later. I told them this was unacceptable and they needed to send someone today. It wasn't my fault they sent the wrong tech. They transferred me to someone in the Springfield office who said someone would be out before 12pm and that it wasn't my fault. At 12:15pm, I called customer service again because no one had arrived. While I was on the phone, a supervisor called to say they didn't have anyone to send today. My issue is with the poor customer service, the last-minute calls saying they suddenly don't have anyone available when they already promised someone would come, and the complete disregard for people's time. I was not happy when I spoke to them, but this is getting out of hand and ridiculous. Something needs to be done.

Hurley & David came to my house on 10/6 'cause my heat wasn't workin'
Hurley & David came to my house on 10/6 'cause my heat wasn't workin'. They said they fixed it, but now, four days later, I'm freezin' again. So, I called 'em up to ask 'em to come back and check the furnace, and guess what? They told me I might have to pay for another service call. That ain't right 'cause they didn't fix my problem the first time.
They gave a diagnosis of a furnace repair with a cost of $1,387 upfront
They gave a diagnosis of a furnace repair with a cost of $1,387 upfront. After the repair was completed the furnace still did not work. Then we were told we would need a new furnace at a cost of $9,500 on top of the upfront cost we had already paid. We asked for a refund of the $1387 minus the $79 to diagnosis fee. We still have not received our refund and the furnace still had not worked. Product_Or_Service: repair.
We had a technician come out and fix our A/C circuit board
We had a technician come out and fix our A/C circuit board. Within a month, our A/C Unit blew. We just had our furnace's routine maintenance done and within a couple of days, our furnace blew! The woman at the company refused to send anyone out for 3 days, leaving us with a water mess and no heat! The prices originally were significantly higher than originally quoted. We will never use this company again! We should get our money back from both cases. It cost us almost *** and we had to get another technician from another company to fix these issues.

They put in a central air system in my crib 8 years ago, but it's been a hot mess since day one
They put in a central air system in my crib 8 years ago, but it's been a hot mess since day one. They put in a central air system in my crib 8 years ago, but it's been a hot mess since day one. They tried fixing the heat after loads of repairs every year, but the AC is still busted. They had to add coolant twice, and now it's low again this year. Now they don't wanna own up to their mistakes and properly fix the system. They've been blindly swapping out parts without even diagnosing the issue, so now I'm stuck with a busted product. Their customer service is straight up trash. They never call back like they say they will. It's been a nightmare dealing with them. Stay away, they sell janky products.
Hurley & David replaced my furnace's heat exchanger on June 7, 2022, as it was still under warranty
Hurley & David replaced my furnace's heat exchanger on June 7, 2022, as it was still under warranty. The invoice showed a balance of $3263,00, which I paid, assuming that this amount covered the cost of the new equipment and that I would receive a rebate from the warranty for the faulty one. However, the invoice only mentioned payment for labor, without specifying the amount. I had several phone conversations and exchanged letters with them until August 12, 2022. Eventually, I received a check for $780.00 on August 18, 2022, which I haven't cashed yet. On August 25th, I sent another letter requesting a breakdown of the invoice and the actual cost of the heat exchanger. I find it hard to believe that the installation, which took 5.5 hours, would cost $3263.00. Unfortunately, I haven't received any response from Hurley and David since then. I would greatly appreciate it if you could assist me in resolving this issue. Thank you.
I had an appointment with Hurley & David in Springfield, MA to fix my central AC unit
I had an appointment with Hurley & David in Springfield, MA to fix my central AC unit. The guy called me when he got there and told me about a bunch of repairs that needed to be done. He said if I paid $3500, the system would blow cool air again. We talked a lot and he kept saying stuff like "I'm just being honest with you," which didn't make sense 'cause I expect honesty without a disclaimer. At the end of the job, he told me there was no electricity going to the outside compressor. Other people told me they should've checked that before starting. The guy was rude on the phone and I never got a call from the corporate office like I asked. I'm 59 years old and I wanna warn other seniors that Hurley & David took my money and didn't fix my AC.
On August 31, Hurley & David finished puttin' in a new Furnace, AC, and Hot Water heater at my place, which I paid for in full that day
On August 31, Hurley & David finished puttin' in a new Furnace, AC, and Hot Water heater at my place, which I paid for in full that day. After filin' for energy efficiency rebates, we got a message from the company handlin' the rebate sayin' that the AC unit they installed wasn't the one we paid for and wasn't eligible for the rebate. After reachin' out to Hurley & David, they said that the Energy Efficiency unit they quoted me and invoiced me for doesn't even exist. They admitted that they should've told me this durin' the installation, but they didn't. They said they'd pay me back the rebate amount ($250) and an additional $1300, which is 'bout the difference between the unit I paid for and the one they installed. I've tried contactin' them multiple times, includin' just recently on 12/30 to ask for the refund, but they haven't made any effort to pay what they promised. 'Fore I go ahead and file a lawsuit for bait and switch and breach of contract, I'd appreciate some help in sortin' out this issue if possible. Thanks.
On 11/04, I made 6 phone calls to Hurley & David, which lasted a total of 64 minutes
On 11/04, I made 6 phone calls to Hurley & David, which lasted a total of 64 minutes. Most of the time, I had to listen to recordings and wait on hold. I spoke with 4 different ladies, but I won't mention their names here. The reason for my calls was to get my hot water heater replaced because it was overheating and the water temperature had reached 140 degrees and was still rising. They assured me multiple times (I have proof) that a new heater would be installed between 2 and 6 in the afternoon. I even received a text and an email confirming that I would be notified when the technician was on the way. I made one call just to confirm that they would provide the new heater, and they said it would be in a box on their truck. This was great news for me and my friend, who are both veterans in our 70s. However, 6 p.m. came and went, and there was no sign of a technician. So, at 6:10, I made my final call. To my surprise, I was told that they don't do water heaters at this time. The lady said she would talk to her manager, but I got the same response. This was unexpected because I had been waiting all afternoon, went out of my way to get a catch pan from Lowes, cleared the area where the heater is located, and even cleared the driveway for their van. Now, I have to change my plans for a trip to the VA Hospital in Vermont on 11/5. It's worth mentioning that I am currently a member of H&D's Gold Membership Plan, which I paid $263.40 for. This plan is supposed to come with several benefits and guarantees that incidents like this won't happen. They also have TV ads that are still running, boasting about their ample stock and staff to meet customers' needs. They even promise same-day installation or it's free. All I really need is a new water heater installed professionally.
I hired Hurley and David in June to convert from oil to gas
I hired Hurley and David in June to convert from oil to gas. Obviously, due to it being installed over the summer, the heat system wasn't turned on until now, the fall. When I turned on the system, you could hear loud, violent bangs in my piping system, and I called them to report it. They sent a technician out who stated the system had to be skimmed because when they installed it, it was never done, and I have residual oil in my piping system due to it. The next day, the office called me stating the system had to be repiped, which I had to wait an additional 3 weeks for. They came out, repiped the system, and I continued to have the loud, banging, violent sounds in my pipes again. Once again, they came out and skimmed the system, and now within 24 hours of being skimmed, I now have a hole in my pipes which they refuse to repair, stating it's my responsibility. I explained to them I have never had any piping issues in my home until their technicians came out and started repiping the system. I'm looking for them to take the responsibility of paying for the damages that their negligence has caused my home. I heard loud banging noise in my pipes, and when I went downstairs to check on the noise, there was oil all over my bathroom floor. Apparently, H&D claiming I have a hole in the pipe that they're not responsible for. When I showed them the bathroom floor which had oil, they said that it wasn't oil, it was residual from old pipes. Which in the pictures enclosed, you can clearly see it is oil, and when I touched it, it clearly was oil. This is all from a result of not installing the system correctly the first time, it has resulted in damages to my pipes.
In June , we hired Hurley & David to replace our Heat pump on the second floor of our house
In June , we hired Hurley & David to replace our Heat pump on the second floor of our house. Unfortunately, the AC system they installed did not cool the house properly. We had to call them over 10 times within a 6-week period, but the issue was not resolved. Eventually, they changed the condenser from a 2-ton to a 2.5-ton (by the way, the previous condenser was also a 2.5-ton), and the system improved slightly. However, it still didn't meet their guarantee of reaching a temperature of 72 degrees.
One technician mentioned that the problem might be a mismatch between the size of the condenser and the air handler unit, suggesting that the air handler needed to be replaced. Surprisingly, the boss disagreed and said we should replace the other Heat pump on the second floor instead. So, we decided to go ahead and hire them to replace the other heat pump on October 3rd.
On the day of the installation, I happened to come home and found out that they had actually removed the outside condenser for a fully functional third HVAC system that provides AC to the first floor of the house. They had to refill it with freon and reconnect it. They completed the installation of the new heat pump on October 4th. However, when we tried to use it for heating, it didn't work. We called them, and a technician came out on October 20th. He informed us that they had installed the wrong air handler, which only provides AC, even though we clearly contracted them for a combined heat and A/C heat pump. The technician assured us that someone from the main office would contact us, but we haven't received any calls.
Both my wife and I have been calling Hurley & David daily for the past 10 days to get an update on when they will fix the system. However, every time we call, the receptionist just takes a message, and we haven't received any response from the company. I even have the installer's cell phone number and have left messages and texts directly with him, but still no response.
I got a brand new AC unit installed, but then a few weeks later, water damage happened because of the unit
I got a brand new AC unit installed, but then a few weeks later, water damage happened because of the unit. I've been trying to reach out to them, but they haven't returned my calls. I bought it on June 4th, and the problem started on June 24th. The Amana Deluxe Cooling Only System was installed by Linda, the sales rep. I financed the payment through Benji Financial, which is connected to Hurley and David. The water damage started on June 24th, and I called the office to explain the situation. They said someone would come by tomorrow, but didn't give me a specific time. On June 25th, I called the office in the afternoon to let them know that I've been waiting all day for a call from the technician. They finally told me that the technician wouldn't come until after 5pm. The system hasn't been working since the day before. The technician came here twice and said that the office was aware of everything. He contacted his supervisor and the installation supervisor. However, all he did was a temporary fix, and the install crew would have to come for a permanent fix. The office said they would call me. On June 26th, another technician came, but the system still wasn't working. He said he would inform the Saturday office manager about it. Again, I was told that there was nothing more he could do, and the install crew would have to fix it. The office said they would call me. On June 27th and 28th, I messaged them twice, expressing the urgency of the issue. However, the unit still wasn't fixed, and I didn't receive any call back or information about it being fixed. On June 29th, I made two phone calls to the office, and both times they said they would call me back. After the second call at 3:00, Sydney, the office manager, called and said the install supervisor would come over on Tuesday, June 30th, at 10 am to fix it. She also mentioned that she now understands why she kept receiving phone calls about safety concerns. On June 30th, the install supervisor made the fixes and mentioned that the VP was aware of my situation. He found an electrical issue in the basement, where the AC pipe was rubbing against the exhaust fan, causing sparks and black marks. I was also informed that the new Building 365 thermostat was on back order until Thursday, and the office would let me know when it would be replaced. However, I still haven't heard back as of July 6th. On July 1st, an electrician came and found that the system was overloaded. I was told that Hurley & David would reach out to me to schedule a time to fix the issue, but they never called back as of July 6th. The tiles are still open, and some ducting has black marks from the sparks. They have both a comfort guarantee and a frustration guarantee in their contract, but throughout this whole process, I haven't been able to use the system as they guaranteed 72 degrees, and they haven't responded on the day when I didn't have heating or cooling, as they promised to pay $500. I chose their company because of their guarantees and their claim of valuing their customers, but I haven't received that level of service. I've been dealing with all these problems for almost two weeks, and I have an autoimmune disease that is preventing me from living my usual daily life due to the emotional distress caused by this situation, along with my house being in disrepair from all the unfinished work.
