I ain't never gonna order from InTheCompanyOfDogs again, no way, no how. They got me good with their sneaky subscription trick. They say you get free shipping when you place your order, but what they don't tell you is that you're signing up for their "club" and they gonna charge you $15 bucks every month. That's a lot of bones, man. They know most folks ain't gonna read the fine print and they gonna get stuck with that monthly fee.
I didn't even know they was charging me every month until I checked my card statement. They ain't never sent me no email or nothing about renewals or what I was getting for being in their VIP club. That's just plain wrong, you know what I'm saying? They're scamming people on purpose and that ain't right.
So, if you don't wanna get tricked like I did, stay away from InTheCompanyOfDogs. They ain't no good and they don't care about their customers. Save your money and go somewhere else where they treat you right.

My mom was confused. She had already ordered it and they had already sent her an email saying it had shipped. Why were they asking her what color she wanted it now? She kept calling and calling, but no one could give her any answers.
Finally, we called on a Saturday and the rep said "We only have limited information. You will have to call during the week to talk to someone in America." My mom was frustrated. She just wanted to know where her dog's ornament was.
It is now 12/16/20 and the company just called my mother to ask her what color she wanted (again). She's not sure what's going on, but she's hoping it will arrive before Christmas.

I had a real bad experience with In the Company of Dogs a few years back. I ordered something and it took forever and ever to come. I finally called and cancelled the order. But, I decided to give them another chance because they had something I really wanted. I ordered it in early December 2017 and asked about shipping times. They said it would take 5 to 10 business days. After 10 business days, I called and they said the item was backordered. So, I cancelled the order again. I never got an email confirmation until Sunday, December 31st when I got a shipping notice! The people who take the orders and who were supposed to cancel this order seem to live in another universe. They don't give simple information and don't follow requests. There has to be a better place to order dog supplies.

This website is pretty cool, I'm not sure how much of what they do is as a middleman, but everything came on time, even though it was in different shipments. The personalized Christmas ornament that really impressed me was from Nancy DeYong Studio Inc (Normal, Ill). I had just rescued a new pup and I never expected to have the ornament in time for the holidays, but I would be happy if it arrived shortly after Christmas but before I took my tree down. This little dog needed a home, and I needed a new companion. The ornaments for all my previous dogs were prominent on my tree. Ms. DeYoung's beautiful hand-decorated ornament arrived Christmas eve and brought tears to my eyes. I quickly sent her a personal "thank you" e-mail. I gotta give it up to In The Company of Dogs for having wonderful suppliers. Everything else arrived prior to Christmas eve.
I was really impressed with the selection of products on this website. They had everything from dog beds to toys to clothing. I was able to find everything I needed for my new pup in one place. The prices were pretty reasonable too. I was able to get everything I needed without breaking the bank.

So that $50.00 item is actually costing you $50.00 PLUS $179.40 in DUES for the whole year and every year after that until YOU notice the charges and investigate. This is the largest SCAM I have ever seen.

From what I can read of complaints against this company, I have been the victim of a total in-your-face fraudulent act. Monthly "VIP" charges against my credit card in the amount of $14.95. No idea for how many months and am presently going over archives. Only Company of Dogs agent with whom I could speak after several phone tries, was a man who sounded to be in Asia and who could not come up on his end with "any charges in the amount of $14.95". I have contacted the Attorney General offices of CT and MA based on two different addresses given by this company. I plan to file a complaint with both state government departments. My credit card company has taken the matter on as fraud and is investigating all charges against my account made by this company. A debacle one need not experience. In the Company of Dogs kept my credit card account information in their files, something I would never have approved.
Desired outcome: Full refund of all charges. Written confirmation that credit card and personal data has been deleted.
VIP Club
I ordered one pair of booties to protect my now deceased dog's feet. I was somehow joined up with some kind of VIP function that auto-charged me every month. I had only ordered one thing, once for my dog, who is now deceased. I had no idea what the VIp Club was, etc. and have never ordered anything since.
I should not have been signed up for this VIP Club ever. I would like a refund for any auto-charges that occurred since the initial order, which was for one pair of booties that sadly, were used once anyway.

They are extremely dishonest, particularly about how they trick people into signing up for their "club" at $15 a month. They offer you a shipping rebate and 10% off when you place your order and join their mailing list, but you are actually also joining their "club" for $15/month. And if you read other reviews for this company you will see i'm not the only that fell for this little ruse. At a minimum, they should know people are signing up for this by accident and change their site to make it more clear. The fact that they dont do that validates my assertion that they're doing it on purpose.

We ordered this item two months ago and it was supposedly in stock. We never received it and have sent several emails inquiring about the status of the order. It has constantly been on backorder and we requested a substitution. The company refused to substitute for a different item and would not let us cancel the order. The cost of the bed is $278.26. Today we went out and purchased a different bed due to lack of responsiveness from this company. Subsequently, I was on the phone with several departments in this company for more than two hours today - no one would cancel the order and they gave us some excuse that the order was processed but could provide no ship date. We want the item cancelled immediately. We went online and searched for customer complaints on this company and there are a multitude of similar complaints.

They told ME to return it (never offered a return label) and wait at least 4 weeks for a replacement! They should have sent a replacement immediately and wait for my return. What a joke.
I signed up for the club, and never rec'd my rebate despite following their instructions to the T.
Submitted required forms on 31 Oct via email. Followed up with them first week of Dec since I'd still not rec'd my rebate which was to have been sent no later than 3 weeks.
Was told my call would be escalated even though they had rec'd my email, and I'd be called back within 48 hours...SERIOUSLY?! Of course, did not receive a call back.
I've spent wayyyy too much time fighting with them over a few bucks.
I've also cancelled my membership, and, if further charges appear on my credit card, I will dispute them and will file a claim with the BBB.
duplicate charge
I ordered two rugs and was charged $100.89. I received the rugs two weeks ago. Today I received an email saying my order was shipped today and my credit card was charged again. I immediately called customer service and talked to someone who said they could not help me and transferred me to someone else. The someone else said they could not help me and transferred me again to a supervisor named Amy. After looking at both orders, she determined it was my fault. I told her I only placed one order and had not been on the website since that order was placed. She insisted it was my fault, and when I received the second order, I could return it for credit but I would have to pay return shipping because it was "my fault." I told her I would never order from them again, and she said "OK."
In The Company of Dogs is a great example of how not to treat customers with a problem. How companies like this continue to operate is beyond belief. I admit to not looking at reviews, and because of that I am now waiting for a refund on a duplicate order the shipped and charge twice. We refused the second order and now after 2 weeks they are telling us it takes a few weeks for them to process our refund and charging us a restocking fee.
This is why people are so disgusted with companies that do not care about the consumer.

Late shipping / not being reimbursed for return shipping
Purchase 2 boxes of D14645 in early December 2017. Did not receive cookies in time for Christmas and had to purchase retail sore items. Merchandise arrived 12/30 - 5 days after Christmas. Spoke with representative and they said return items. Mail back items (tracking # [protected] 93) and was charged $12.89 shipping. Another call and you representative said I would be reimbursed for my shipping. When I received my credit card statement I was not reimbursed for shipping. Calling you guys go me "we don't reimburse for shipping. The items arrived late and could not be used as gifts. These items were not shipped to me until 12/22 which make it impossible to have for Christmas gifts. I would like my shipping costs refunded.

Received a large GC as a gift for a new puppy. This can't be accepted online, so you have to call. This takes FOREVER. 1st time I ordered, half of what I ordered wasn't available after I placed order. So they refunded me with a new GC that was $9.11 LESS than what it should've been. I called and they acknowledged, and said they would send me a new GC. Never happened. I just called now to place my final order and use up this GC and be done with them. Call took over 18 min for 3 items. Rep was rude, condescending and constantly got the ordering # and my CC # incorrect. His total was different than mine, and he argued that I was wrong. ! I asked him to look it up... and lo and behold, 2 of my items were on sale and he was trying to charge me double. He then told me my CC declined and acted like I was a criminal. He had the #s wrong. I don't trust this company. I will never order from them again. BUYER BEWARE... they will charge you what they want if you don't know the price. AND after they take your money, they will tell you the item isn't available and offer you a refund less than you paid. Watch everything you do with this company.

They are giving me the runaround about returning a dog Cam that arrived to me used. Lies from the staff as well as supervisors, I wish I had read the reviews before buying! All I want is to return it and get my money back... why all the lies? The Cam has a code and someone who had the code could use it to see in my house! Dangerous and irresponsible of the company!
Returning a dog bed
I ordered the fur fighter half circle shaped dog bed. None of my three dogs would go near it. I put it outdoors to sun and air, still no deal. I never took the tag off. They okayed the return but did not provide a return label. I hauled it up to UPS where I was told it would take $100 to return it. (LARGE bed, $249).
I came home and called customer service. They said they don't provide return labels that can deduct from the refund. I haggled with them and they eventually said they'd pay half of the cheapest method possible back. I told them I will never shop with them again. Potpourri has 18 catalogs and they haven't figured out better customer service?
