We are proud to help customers control their electricity rates by offering fixed rate plans that remove the volatility inherent in the energy market and protect customers from unexpected and unbudgeted electricity costs. In fact, electricity is the most volatile of all commodities – with market rates changing every second of the day. When electricity suppliers offer a fixed rate, it is based on market prices at a particular point in time. In order to guarantee the price for the contract term, suppliers pre- purchase the energy required by the account for the full term. In mitigating the risk of a market that can swing up and down constantly, Liberty Power helps business customers continue to do what they do best – serve their customers.

When we pre-purchase electricity, we make a commitment to the customer for the electricity they need for the term of their agreement, which is generally 1 to 3 years. If the customer chooses to end the agreement before the end of the term, there may be a fee for early termination. This will depend on when the customer exits the agreement, market prices at that point in time and whether Liberty Power incurs losses from that termination.

Last Friday 2 girls showed up at my door telling me that they were taking part in a state-funded public service bc of the unfair manner in which Con Edison is conducting their billing. This person ('Allison) never once stated she was representing a private energy provider. Being rushed at that moment, I signed her electronic pad...took a paper with her meaningless contact details (the one that reads 'Public Service' across the top, -and 'Liberty Power off to the left) I looked into it later that day and leaned the truth. So without even doing business with them.. I immediately demanded they cancel whatever nonsense they had me sign.

Don't these idiots at Liberty Power know that verbal contracts are legally binding? That one may not misrepresent the terms and details of any agreement without making the whole thing null and void? Apparently not.
Funny thing is, If Allison had just been honest and laid out what it is they offer, and given me the chance to make an informed decision, I might have gone for it. Why lie to my face? I guess LP has nothing better to offer. Anyway, , in such cases be sure and call both parties to cancel. Any further shenanigans on the part of Liberty -or any such energy service provider should be reported to Energy Service Complaints dept. [protected] -cheers

Last week a rep came to my door promising to save us money if we switch from IDT. He waited until after I signed to tell us that there would be a $200 cancellation fee. I told him no thanks because we were moving in September (a month and a half) and he put the work order in anyway. So now Byron (supervisor) is telling me i'm obligated to pay the cancellation fee. If I can provide a new lease I can submit it for review. Mind you that will be in a month from now. It's only been a week and ConEd will not be processing the order! Rather than take care of their records now I'm supposed to jump through more hoops a month from now. Way to salvage the integrity of your company BYRON! They lie about the confirmation phone call. We never got one. I haven't even received any correspondence from them. Beware! THEY ARE SCAMMERS! What kind of company wants to make money under dishonest conditions? SCAMMERS.

These freaks are as full of it as they come. A rep comes to my door to let me know about con ed's variable rates and that an esco can save us money by keeping the rates fixed, and asks me to sign the tablet as proof that I understood what we were talking about and I knew my rights as a consumer. I took it that I was signing as proof that he had discussed this matter with me. Then I get a letter in the mail titled "Enrollment Confirmation"! I never enrolled in anything and in fact told the rep that the bill wasn't in my name so I wasn't able to make those decisions. At no point was I agreeing to switch suppliers. At no point was it discussed that the electronic signature was about switching providers. He didn't even ask if I lived on the premises! So anyone who signs the tablet can switch suppliers? What nonsense! Then I call them to "cancel" and they're telling me I owe them $200.00 cancellation fee!? Because I missed the 3 days lol. I asked 3 days from when? From the date of the letter? from the date I receive the letter? They say from the date you signed the tablet. Really guys? I'm still reeling over this nonsense. Total bait and switch, misrepresentation scam bs.

Chloeb, the same thing happened to me. They came to my door and did the same thing. I get a letter of enrollment confirmation a few weeks later saying that I had 3 days to cancel. I called them and they said that it was 3 days after I signed the tablet to cancel. How does that benefit me when I got the letter 2 weeks later and the rep didn't tell me of the option to cancel 3 days later or that there would be a $200 termination fee? I also didn't know that I would be locked into a 2 year contract. As much as I don't want to, I may have to eat the termination fee if my power bill becomes too much. This is total bull, and I am pissed at the fact that there is nothing I can do about this

I went through a rollercoaster with this company but I got lucky. I called up my main electricity company and told them that I was displeased by the doings of Liberty Power and just wanted to go back to the way things were before. I was told that things will go back and that I should call Liberty Power to confirm. I wasn't going to do that since I knew about the termination fee. A few days later, I received the postcard saying I was back on with the original company and that I wasn't going to be charged a fee. That same day, I sent a message to Better Business Bureau about this company and asked to be released from the contract with no cancellation fee due to false pretenses. A few weeks later, they obliged and waived the cancellation fee. For those that were in my shoes, I would definitely give this a try. I totally learned my lesson about being nice to anyone coming to my door again.

I am a First Energy Solutions rep. I deal with customers who have signed with Liberty almost on a daily basis. Not a one is happy and the ones who were content, certainly are not after I show them how they are being ripped off. One lady told me she switched while in contract with them and has simply ignored their letters about the termination fee. She said each letter she gets, the fee is lower. Her initial fee of over $600 has dropped to $110. While this is a risky move, you have to weigh the amount you will pay them for the remainder of your contract with the termination fee. Often it is hundreds lower. If you can let me know what area you live, I possible may be able to get you to a First Energy rep who can help you with your options. But I feel sorry for you all. You just wanted to save and got duped. Or you had no idea you were even signing up.

I am writing this from philadelphia, I am a small business owner, almost 2 yrs ago, when the congress passed the law for the third party energy supplier, one girl came to my store and she likes to look at my Peco bill and reduce my bill and pay lessthen what i was paying at this time. I was payin rate 0.10, they got me 0.09 they told me that I will save almost 200 dollars per month, until last month I didnt realize my bill i was payin 0.11. i called them they said because of tax, I told them when you guys came in my peco bill wasnt with the tax which was it. So they told you have 3 yrs contract, you have to pay what you sign. basically they locked me up. I call Harrisburg costumer protection hot line, and complain about Liberty Energy, and they said we are getting too many complaints about them so you are ok to switch you provoder. I told them, if i cancel it they said will charge $2000 fine for early determination. Anyway. harrisburg said that if they send a fine call us a back. now I am taking them to court and fight for my rights.
These scams and cheaters, may god punish them, they screw everybodies life to nightmare. I am paying extra $5 to $600 for no reason.
I called them many times and try to empathize with them, for example I have a small food market, I have same size of coca cola in different shelves, one is $1, other one is $2. whic one would you like to buy it.? of course you will buy the one dollar one. why would you like to pay extra. So when they are in my store,

Liberty energy are ###. They keep bothering my parents - even after I told them to stop. They had the audacity to call after 8:30 at night. I have filed a complaint with Pura in CT.

Two guys came at my door telling me that this is just a "NOTIFICATION".. They talked me in to signing on a crappy tablet. The same day I received an email with many details these guys never told me.. e.g. 24 month contract, Early termination Fees.. etc etc.
Whatever Liberty Power business is, The approach of getting customer to sign some contract on the door is not a good way to go with it. I am going to tell all my friends not get into such confusing stunt. Liberty Power, Please undertand that your process needs different approach, Why dont you spend that much money on marketting if your product is strong enough..

A Liberty Power rep recently called us at our Illinois home at dinnertime. (Call source: [protected]). When I asked the caller to take us off of their calling list, he claimed that Liberty Power didn't maintain a do not call list because this wasn't a "telemarketing call." Of course it was. The caller was otherwise all but impossible to understand due to a very thick accent (Hispanic, I presume). Report them:

I got scam with Liberty Power today. Two young men knocked the door. I live in an apartment building that to enter, has to buzz from outside the main entrance doors or except ConEd or mailman. They said they were from ConEd and I believed them. They also has an ID hanging on his neck showing that they were legit. They said there were numerous complaints that our building had been overcharged and they were here to fix the problem. Then, he showed me how much I should be charged around my zip code and asked to show him a statement from ConEd. He immediately asked to turn the page to second page, upper corner, to find a some message. I glanced it and he started continued that we had been trying to reach you on this matter but we were not successful so they came in person to fix this problem, overcharged rate. Then, he asked some personal questions like how old I am or where I am from. Next, he handed his tablet to sign to switch from the overcharged rate to cheaper rate that I should had gotten. Then, I signed. Everything didn't feel right so I googled "Liberty Power scam" . I could feel my blood was going down and my stomach was starting to upset. I read the complains and I now know what would happen to me. I was very naive and stupid. I hope I don't have to pay any early termination fee although it was just today (it was Friday after 5pm unfortunately) so contact ConEd will be tomorrow and hope they are open. I am going to follow how ninjadog1 did and suggest to do which is to (1) call the main electricity company, then, (2) wait for the welcome postcard from the main electricity company to avoid Hefty early termination fee. (3) sent a message to Better Business Bureau about this company and asked to be released from the contract with no cancellation fee due to false pretenses. A few weeks later, ninjadog was waived the cancellation fee. Thank you ninjadog! I will try it and re-posted here what happened.

A rep from liberty came to my home while I was at work but my boyfriend was there. The lady convinced him to sign even though he does not live here and told the rep that twice. I got a letter today confirming my enrollment and when I called the lady hesitated to give me the information because someone else was on the account. After I repeated that I live alone she told me my boyfriend had signed the rep's tablet which would lock me in for a year. I again repeated that I live alone and only I can authorize changes on my bill. She stated that she would cancel my enrollment and that they would waive the early cancellation fee. Not only is soliciting in my building illegal but how can you waive a fee that never existed. I truly live alone and never signed up but she told me the fee would be waived like she was doing me a favor. Don't sign up for these people. They use illicit tactics.

I thank to ninjadog! His advise worked for me! Today I received a letter from Liberty Power that they could not take me in due to lacking of information or something. I know it was due to the steps that I followed what ninjadog suggested.

Step 1, call the main electricity company (NYC area is the office in Florida).

Step 2, call your main electricity company (ConEd for NYC) and wait for the welcome postcard from the main electricity company to avoid Hefty early termination fee (I didn't get this post card).

Step 3, report to Better Business Bureau (https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started) of this company and asked to be released from the contract with no cancellation fee due to false pretenses.

It only took 3 weeks but I am off from Liberty Power! Try the steps. It might works for you too.

A woman came to my door said she is from the electric company and needs to see a bill so she can verify my rates. When I said no (because no one from comed has ever come to our door) she said very authoritatively that she needs to verify my bill. I asked where she was from she said liberty electric. I assume she didn't state that in the beginning because she wanted me to think she was from ComEd. I hope someone doesn't get conned into handing over a bill for so called verification because we all know important info like name address and account number is on it. This is an awful way to try to get new customers by tricking people into thinking their from your current electric company. Please beware!

THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE! They lack customer service and will actually raise their voices to you on the phone! I don't know if they forgot but we pay their pay checks not center point or anyone else WE DO! On top of that my father has been in business in the same location for almost 25 years and has liberty power. He has never once been late on his bill and he uses a lot of electricity which makes him a valuable customer! When i went to sign up on Monday its now Friday they said yes no problem we will have your power on today (Monday) The lady calls me this morning and leaves a message saying we need a $680 dollar deposit?!? 5 days later with the personal guarantee they told me to send, and they are asking for almost 700$ to turn on the power! God luck talking to anyone who will help at this company and to be honest they will even over talk you...This company is not good for anyone, you can get the same prices and WAY better customer service with many other providers.

They will tell you anything to get you to sign up. Anyone would want to agree to getting power at a much lower price. This concept is new to most people and many people, especially senior citizens, want to believe they are being told the truth. This company is completely corrupt.

Liberty Power is sold through independent "channels" as they are called and unfortuntely these places open and close from time to time and the people that work for them are on straight commission and can and do very often misquote. For example was told that our rate included all taxes and that PSE&G "junk fees" were eliminated however it did not include all taxes at all and the actual bill was much higher then quoted.

For a brief time I worked for one of these places that not only closed, lied to me as to how long they were in business but also wound up not paying me any of the commissions that were do me, all in all not a good experience to say the very least!

This particular office was in Rockland County and I found out on the internet that Liberty Power had so many complaints against them in New York State that they were closed to being barred from selling there by the Attorney General of NY!

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! Their rates are not competitive, their fixed rate expired on me and their variable rate was 16 cents per kwh while Delmarva's rate was 8cents. Their fixed rate is also higher than Delmarva. Delmarva has excellent customer service, Liberty's customer service is just a few people putting you on hold and not doing anything. My billed electricity from Liberty was $631 for a month, Delmarva would have been half of that.

A woman came to my apartment yesterday and said that she was sent by Ameren and they are doing it every year. She asked for my bill and details and unfortunately I was too stupid to sign everything. However, I feel uncomfortable the second day and went online to search for this company. I am really upset because I know that I am scammed. I immediately called the toll free number to cancel this and they told me nicely that there will be no cancellation fee. But I still do not trust them and wish to really cancel this. They even gave me a cancellation confirmation number but there is no email or anything else to verify the cancellation. What do you think I should do next? Is this cancellation confirmation number reliable to prove the cancellation? Anyone can help me with this?

I was a customer of Liberty for 3 years. I did not like there sales pitches and there technique of signing up every year. They could hardly speak English and they had an attitude. Finally I had enough and did not re-apply for their service. I went for almost a year with PPL, our local electric company. I was then approached by another supplier with a good deal and a much more professional manner. Now I am getting calls from Liberty with their 'New Rates'. I've told them I'm with another supplier and to not call here any more. Today I received two calls from them and I told them the same thing and that I would report them. I know the number so I will not answer future calls from them. This is now harassment. Plus their company is not even on the residential list of suppliers for PPL.

Liberty power is a scam. BE CAREFULE BEFORE SIGNING ANY CONTRACT OR ANY OFFER FROM THIS COMPANY. I was tricked by the sales persons who knocked my door a year back. I was told they were electricity producer and supplier. They claimed their rate was way cheaper than PSEG, the primary supplier. I was told it was survey questionnaire, and tricked me to sign in their I pad. Later I found it was two years contract. Since I have signed the contract I am paying more, sometimes double than my primary provider.
Being very new and unfamiliar to system in NJ, I got in their trap. But I learnt good lesson. In future, if any sales person form Liberty power knock my door or call me, the only thing they will get to do is kiss my ###.

I have been taking calls from customers who were given the toll free number. I have been employed
at my company for 4 years now and I have taken hundreds of calls. All the callers appear to be elderly. I think just from what I have experienced Liberty power is a scam and needs to be shut down. Shame on you all working for Liberty Power for taking advantage of the elderly. I am now also going to report this to the BBB, post it on FB and any additional outlets for social media that I can find.

Wow what a joke, calling me yelling at me that I need to use their company to get power. The guy went as far to say that my electric bill lied to me along with the local new. He was so rude, I had to hung up on him but their math makes no sense. my rate is in o, o8 right now and will go up about 30% so he offered a fixed rate of .14 which is high there what they increase will be. Also it is for 2 years whereas the increase will go back down in 6 months. He was unwilling to understand that .14 will be high even with the increase, which would be about .11 cents. He also tried to treat me and say the increase was much high than the local news and the electric company has reported. Beware and know your facts first.

My husband and I were thrilled to have a chance to get electric from another provider than Ameren IL, and were promised that our rate would be cut in half by signing up with Liberty Holdings. LIES! Our bill has doubled and that is no lie. We called to cancel and yet we still have them listed as our power supplier. So today I am hopeful to finalize our cancellation once and for all. After getting our 3rd power bill with them as our provider, I am disgusted that we asked for their services, not reading reviews beforehand. But you better believe it when I say I am telling anyone who will listen NEVER USE LIBERTY POWER!

Liberty Power just came to my apartment and told me they were affiliated with my utility company. I asked this several times (at least three) and each time they emphatically said "Yes, of course!" I questioned why their company name would differ and they said "OH, we provide the power TO the utility, so we are part of the utility company, just under a different name." I asked to see their IDs. They said the Liberty Power, but they swore up and down they were associated with NStar (should've known better at this point - my utility provider changed their name like two months ago). They dropped their badge, and I eventually noticed the orange line: "Not affiliated with local utility provider." What the heck!?
I hesitated when they asked me to sign a contract without reading it. I said I would not sign anything without reading it on my own time. They tried to sway me, "We'll just wait here while you read it!" No, I said, that won't do, I don't want you standing here waiting for me. Not gonna happen. I said I could mail it if I decided to follow through. They insisted no no no, we need to do it NOW. That was the final nail in their coffin. Only when I sat down and looked up the company did I review the contract they wanted me to sign. They were trying to get me to sign up for a 15-month contract (they did not mention this!) - I'm moving in a month. Real cute, Liberty Power.

Mount Prospect, Illinois, they showed up in my apartment and tricked me to sign the contract by stating that they are working with comed and they will need my account # to reduce the bill. Since it just happened today 6:00 pm ( business hours are closed) IS there a way to find a cancellation form somewhere, so that I can post them. before it is too late. They do not state any term and condition nor that they wont give you any receipt after this form ( they have in ipad) and nor that you are signing a contract .

I live in NYC and two salesmen at Liberty Power just came to my door and they made it as if they were from my current electricity supplier ConEdison. I was stupid enough to give them my ConEdison account number, as well as my name, address, and phone number, but when they tried to trick to sign on their tablet, I became suspicious and did not sign anything. However, I am still worried since they got my ConEdison account number. Does anyone have any advice?

A Liberty power representative just came to apartment & said they are authorized electricity providers in the state of IL. She told me how We could reduce our monthly bills, etc by signing a two year deal..fixed rate...i reluctantly signed..but actually it's my wife who's the account holder with our current service provider (Comed)..I spoke to my wife & she straight away refused the move. I just called the representative back (ERICA) & told her we don't want to change from Comed to Liberty...it's been just about an hour that i also called their Toll free # [protected] & spoke to a rep named Michelle. She gave me a reference # after i explained to her that it's my wife who's on the account & we don't want to switch from Comed to Liberty. She said it's taken care of. But i want to ensure there's nothing still missing.

Actually, it was the same for me too. However, i signed but not my legal signature..however, i'm as concerned as you. Since, i was made to feel as if they represent Comed or their partners/affiliates. Tricked me into signing on their tablet...its actually my wife who's the account holder with comed..they took the comed account # name...and address, etc.

I did call back straight away to make sure they cancel it. They said they had.

I had a lady come to my door and sell their Wind provider to me, when we already had a provider. I only signed up for it because the lady was really nice, and I didn't want to shun her. But, now I am in big trouble, as I hear that to undo what I did, it will cost me 50 bucks just to get out of the contract... and I am not the head of the house... I didn't know what I signed up for, mostly because I don't pay the bills (minus rent), and because I was flabbergasted that a stranger came knocking at my door, which is a custom that most business don't do in my small community that I live in. Screw this company and ANYONE who has worked for it.

Don't trust them. A guy from liberty came to my mothers house and used very shady methods to get her to sign up. He made her sign a 24 month agreement but told her she needed to sign it to guarantee savings she is already getting with her current provider. But what he left out is that he wasn't her current provider. I did not know it was a different company until after I saw the paper which he shoved in our faces and left faster than the Flash. I tried to find him to cancel and searched my whole block and he was nowhere to be seen. Then 30 minutes after he left I called the number he left and spent a lot of time canceling. Despite their assurances that the contract would never go through he still put the contract through and we got a notice in the mail. The contract which states he came on the 21st of the month is falsely mislabeled and says it started on the first of the month, 20 days before he came here. I had to call again and go through the whole process again and I have very little faith that anything will be done. Also the representative on the phone agreed with me that something is wrong with the contract because it is labeled to start 20 days before the agreement was signed. I don't know how many more times it will take to cancel but I still how no proof that they cancelled it yet.

A man came to my door last night stating that he just needed to go door to door to let people know that they were dropping two charges that appear on the Com Ed bill that we receive. He then showed me a sample bill and said that they were overcharging so they were taking them off in the future. He asked me for a copy of my current bill, which I'm now sure that it was to gather my account number. The bill is under my boyfriends name. I am not on it, so I couldn't authorize anything on it anyway. He then asked my name and then said he had to call a confirmation number and I had to answer the questions audibly for the automated confirmation. At no point did it mention me switching to a different company but still I was getting an odd vibe from this guy, like he was scamming me into something without telling me. If it was just about them dropping the charges, that could have been done via letter in the mail or email or even a simple phone call. He had me sign the screen of his tablet, which I just scribbled some lines on..and as soon as he got that, he was like thanks that's all I need and was gone in a flash. After he left I called Com Ed (my electric company) and asked them if they knew anything about this "removal of charges". Of course they said no, not at all. That its probably a scam to get me to switch companies without me knowing until I got my mail. He never mentioned rates or anything of that nature. I verified with Com Ed that I did not want to switch and that if something came through claiming a switch was going to be made, they would contact me via mail and telephone to verify that it is what I really wanted. So in short, whatever he was planning, its not going to happen now. Horrible company who don't like to answer question nor give explanations about things. But of course, why answer questions that will just be lies to scam people. If you cant be upfront and honest about your intentions and your rates and whatever, there must be a reason. Apparently this company is BS.

Liberty power scammed into my business account and without my permission included my home account. They overcharged me by $100.00 per month on each account. Eversource is 6.6 per kilowatt and they charged .11.522 per kwh on each of my accounts..They harrassed me and I think they should be put out of business.

I've read about cold calls and "agents" ringing your doorbell. Well Liberty Power has ventured into the cyber era. I've received what appears to be phishing emails. First I received a "Welcome" email thanking me for choosing them. Then a week later receive another email which was an energy report for October usage... It's now the end of December, why would you welcome me, then send me October usage data? There seem to be some links in the second email which I have not clicked on for fear that either some malware will be secretly downloaded to my computer. I never transferred my service over to Liberty Power so I don't know what all this nonsense is. It is very annoying and it contributes to my other daily spam mail! How do I stop it without accidentally downloading spyware or malware?
