Membership
Immediately after opening an account and paying for my membership ($95), they closed the account without notifying me opened a new account and charged my card a second time for $95. Throughout April, Lifetime attempted to charge my card for $95 every single day without handling the issue for the double charge in March. I contacted Lifetime in April requesting to cancel my membership prior to the May billing cycle. The customer service agent conveniently waited (weeks) until after May had begun to respond. At this point they continued attempting to charge my card (plus a late fee) every day without answering my emails/calls. I've been waiting months for this situation to be resolved and the customer service agents have been absolutely useless.
The way this has been handled is downright criminal and unless you enjoy dealing with clueless customer service agents and having your hard earned cash stolen, avoid Lifetime at all costs.
Desired outcome: Refund and a sincere apology
Gift certificate
My husband purchased a gift certificate for me at Lifetime's Life Spa and Salon. A Lifetime employee called us and reminded us that I had a $100. Gift card that had not been used.
When I went to schedule an appointment to use the gift card I was told I was in the system and the life spa has a record that a gift card was purchased. I was told that I can't use it because I don't have the certificate... That doesn't make any sense. If lifetime knows I have a gift certificate for $100. And they called to remind me of it why can I know not use it. We were told that the gift certificate would always be useable.

Racial and religious discrimination
I am a member since 2009- left during covid when they shut down and then rejoined. I was so happy to go back because I enjoy my instructors and excercising. I was disappointed most of the employees that were there before were mostly all gone. I then noticed that the new staff and management were not friendly and cold. I just tried to ignore it then kept going to class. I went to the jacuzzi in October recovering from pain from surgery. I was then asked by an employee that knows who I am and my religion and she said she was told to ask me to leave the jacuzzi. I was in shock and hoping that it was just lack of knowledge and reminded her you know that im muslim and this was my attire, I was wearing swim legging a long sleeve rash gaurd and scarf for swimming. She said she had already explained this to the person who walkie talkied her to still told me I had to leave. I was there with my 13 year old and surrounded by other members all new. no one stood up for me and the only thing I could do was get out. I sat in sauna soaked and wet was in shock, sad, embarrased, humiliated and crying. I decied to go to the fron and find a manager the only one was a sales manager and he said to wait and see if thats a policy - this made me even more upset, why would a manager ask to see if its in policy — ? Arent they taught about discrimination? Then I emailed the general manager, he apologized by email but honestly its as if they didmt think it was that serious, didnt take my situation serious. Never did he meet with me in person to apologize or acknowlede me. an email was enough? I passed his office many times and each time he would show me his hand that he was busy but he never looked for me.. I waited and gave it time since then but never heard from him. I shouldnt have been the one looking for him, This has made me really change my feelings towards lifetime I love it but they need to join in the inclusivity. I am very affected by this and I just cant go back they made my favorite other home into a very uncomfortable situation. IVe been paying even when I cant afford and have had many people join, There are so many muslims and non muslims that would not continue to be a part of this - I contacted the corporate office, instead they had the manager that did nothing call me. I did not answer as I was clear to them I wanted to discuss with them It seems no one cares and I need to be the voice for the change continue. I am now looking for a discrimination attorney to help me with this. im sure there is video of the day this all happened to what happened to me,

My car was burglarized 1/15/2021 broad daylight 12:30pm right in front of entrance the GM Josh Gibbons downplayed the burglary very little corporation with the authorities while I was in his office looking at blurry footage of the burglary I witnessed him watching thru the surveillance cameras on the fitness floor of women body parts (zoom in close up) he was unprofessional impolite and rude then he abruptly terminated my membership after 4 plus years with a phone call.. I have been a member since 2008. On several occasions I have tried to cancel my membership for various reasons, life changes, loss of job, lack of use etc. This club (pre-COVID) requires you to physically go into a location to cancel. This is so that they can pressure you into keeping your membership face to face by offering holds etc. I have taken them up on those offers a few times in hopes of recovering and being able to resume my membership.
In October or September of 2021 I contacted the club that I was a member at and let them know that I was not interested in keeping my membership any longer and that I would not be going into a facility due to COVID restrictions and out of concern for my own health and safety. Once again they were extremely willing to help and offered to put my membership on hold due to the COVID issues. I took them up on their offer again because I was hoping things would get back to normal eventually. On that phone call they told me that they understood the uncertainness and that they were handling all concerns via phone. Unfortunately, things have not gotten back to normal yet and even further I have lost my employment due to COVID since then. I noticed my membership resumed on February 1, 2021 when a charge was made to my card thus jogging my memory that this was still in place and had resumed. I then called on 2/28/2021 to cancel the membership and was told that the membership would be cancelled. I clarified that my bank account would not be charged again due to the cancellation and they stated that it WOULD be because they require a 30 day notice. I let them know that was unacceptable as I had tried to cancel months ago but was offered a no-charge hold and that I was revoking authorization for any further charges. The gentleman told me he did not have the power to refund or change anything but transferred me to the "corporate member relations" department to discuss options further. The voice mail system stated that they were returning phone calls due to reduced people in the office because of COVID restrictions. I left a voicemail explaining my situation and also stated I was revoking authorization for any charges to my bank account.
I then noticed a charge had gone through on 3/1/2021, understanding that the charge might not have been stopped due to systems timing, which I completely understood, I called the corporate member relations department on 3/4/2021 as I had not received a call back and asked for a refund. I was connected with a VERY rude, unempathetic and unhelpful individual with this department who NOT only refused to issue a refund but then ALSO let me know that my membership was NOT cancelled because I didn't fill out some sort of link or go into the club to cancel. I explained to her that no one said anything about a link nor was I told I needed to go into a club when I called. She then told me she would send me the link but then quickly stated that the membership would terminate 30 days from the date of the form being completed. Convenient now that it's 4 days into the new month and 4 days past the monthly fee. I let her know that was unacceptable because the person I spoke to on the 28th made no mention of this and she basically said "too bad"
I am appalled by these practices and feel they are unethical and designed to psychologically trap people. COVID has caused many issues people were not prepared for and I would think that a club that charges quite a bit for it's membership would be willing to be a little more courteous to it's members.
Desired outcome: Cancelled membership, no further charges and March fees refunded

After writing a very long email to the corporate offices expressing all that was outlined in my review, another rep reached out to me this morning and made things right. While I don’t appreciate the unnecessary aggravation and stress that I was put through initially I do appreciate the resolution in the end!
I have never dealt with a company more shady in their billing practices than Lifetime. They need to be held legally liable for their suspicious methods.
Music
The music is crap! Head banging at times, other times it's just woman making a bunch of mumble jumble with disco type back ground with no substance! Find some class and leave out the rap crap as well. It's not music!
Membership cancelation
In the middle of March 2020 I stopped by Vernon Hills, IL location and cancelled my membership in person. Since them I received several general emails about my balance due and that the payment is needed. I spoke to customer services several times explained the situation and asked to escalate this case to the corporate lever. All I received in return was another general email about by balance. Please note that I'm disputing all charges since March 2020 and Nee to escalate this case to the next level. My phone number is [protected].
Gym
I have been on hold for years with Lifetime. They all of a sudden began taking full membership fees out of my account without notice. This just so happens to be when they reopened. My acct number is [protected]. I think they are using me, one of the little people to try to make back all the money the lost during Covid closures.
Customer service and experience
Have been a member at Lifetime Austin north for 1.5 years - ever since we moved to US. Wanted to share my experience in last few days. It was very unpleasant and made me and my husband feel very unwelcome. The behavior of the front desk staff and the site manager who was favoring her and trying to cover for her behavior was very unfortunate.
I had put my membership on hold due to Covid and I thought of starting off by taking a trail class and then start membership if I feel comfortable and sure of moving forward.
I book a complimentary session (as I wanted to try first before reactivating), arrive at the front desk and am denied entry saying I cannot enter as I am inactive. I had expected that the instructor would have arranged for me to come in, but no problem. I think it's fair, given the circumstances. I ask front desk lady to call the instructor and let me speak to him. She blatantly answers that no instructor with that name is in the center. I then ask her to call someone else from that department so that I can speak to them. She tells me there is no one. I then request her to call the person who is taking the class I had requested for so that I can speak to them and clear the confusion. She tells me there is no such class going on at the moment. Frustrated, I call my husband. He had to come and let me in using his guest pass. I reach the class, instructor is there and class is in progress. He tells me I am late by 30 mins and it would be better to reschedule and come back. Fair again. I go back and leave the center.
I book for next Saturday, and come in again. This time I bring my husband to let me in. She checks in my husband, looks at me and says I cannot come in. Voila! There it starts again. She tells me I cannot be let in as my husband used his guest pass to let me in last time (remember that all I could do last time with that pass was reach the class and return back in literally 2 mins as I was late because of all the drama downstairs). we get frustrated. we say that first of all we couldn't really do anything with that guest pass. Secondly, they could have told this last time itself.
Anyways, I didn't want to bother dealing with inconsiderate people. I had to activate my membership ($80) per month to get into that trail class.
Experience was blown out of the window. Joining lifetime which is a premium club - I would expect better treatment. If nothing can be done - then at least politeness and good behavior is the least one can expect.
We went to the manager (Myra). She was another rude and insensitive person. She kept defending the front desk lady saying she was just following protocols. Where does the protocol say that don't allow guest to speak to an instructor (on request) or give incorrect information?
On top of all this, she being a manager tells me there are different departments at Lifetime and they don't deal with each other! Imagine, I as a customer am expected to connect different departments within lifetime together! How the organization is structured is totally immaterial to the customer. For us, the brand and the entity is one single unit.
In the end to share my frustration : the manager was super rude, leave aside any apologies for the inconveniences caused - she starts blaming me for coming in without pass. I say we are unhappy and the manager cancels my husband's membership without confirming or trying anything to retain us.

I love my Lifetime Fitness. It just opened last fall and I understand it used to be part of the Cooper Fitness Center in Craig's Ranch, McKinney, Texas. It is a very beautiful gym and everyone is quite lovely to me. My problem is that I use a cane and need handicapped parking near the front. At this particular gym, all the spots (about 10 or 12) nearest the front door are for regular parking and the SIX for handicapped are a good distance away. Today I managed to grab the only handicapped space still available, but farthest away. I had to stop and rest halfway to the front steps. They have a very long walking ramp on the other side of the stairs, but it is so long, even with my disability, it seems easier to use the very long stairs.
I do not understand why there are so few handicapped parking spaces and why they are so far away. I have complained to the front desk employees and they have no jurisdiction over parking spaces so it is useless to even try. Lifetime Fitness, the corporation, has no phone number, or email that I can find to register a complaint with upper management.
I believe my next step in this process is to contact state officials in Austin to see if they can do something. It should not be this hard to get into my gym.

The cancellation policy needs to change. I rarely go to the gym and use it for social events, mainly volleyball. They require a 30 day notice for cancellation which is absurd. I know this will never be resolved but I hope if enough people complain about this, I can save someone else the grief in the future. I will never return to lifetime fitness, including any of their activities they host such as triathlons.

I explained that I have had surgery and I am not able to use the gym membership anymore, and I am UNABLE to go up to the gym anymore. I requested to have it canceled.
It was only suspended and then restarted and I was charged although I already explained my situation.
She was supposed to contact me the following Saturday after my emails were ignored and I made a phone call last Friday.
She replied and ignored my request for a refund.
I explained I am unable to use these services, the gym has a contract with my employer that will reimburse me if I go a certain amount of times per month and since I am not able to go it is WRONG to have even continued to charge me knowing the situation.
Now although she didn't respond last Saturday like I was told she would she responded after I had to email AGAIN this week. Their poor response time and inability to handle to get back with me as I was told they would should be cause itself.
I am a single mother of 4 small children I CANNOT afford to pay for a service that I am unable to use.
Her response today after ignoring my emails during the week is "I'll look into this on Monday".
Excuse me? No. This should have been looked into the day I sent an email back. I shouldn't have my family suffering because they do not even care to respond to my emails in a timely manner. Or for a service I explained I couldn't even use.

I have been bringing my two kids for swim lessons and the pay more than 450 dollars a month. We went on vacation and we wanted to make up our lessons but the manager has been very rude and was talking to me like I am stealing lessons. The same thing happened to me! These people are very suspect in the way they 'charge' their clients. They should be criminally investigated.
