I am a retired professional and am writing to express my displeasure with the Lume commercial that you are running constantly. I must say that I had not heard “butt crack” for years, and I have not missed it. In recent weeks I literally hear it a minimum of four times per hour on your network. The other night I was watching MSNBC and became so sick of seeing it that I turned the TV off. When I tuned in the following morning, it was the first thing I saw. Suddenly I feel like I am listening to adolescent boys talking about bodies regularly, and I do not appreciate it.
I have a friend who uses this product and speaks highly of it. However, I would never buy it because I find their marketing objectionable: "Think pits, underboobs, butt cracks, thigh creases, and feet!" So far, I have not heard them mention other areas listed on their website, e.g., belly buttons, tummy folds, vulvas, and balls. However, I trust it is a matter of time.
Their website advises people to “Apply Anywhere You Have Odor.” I believe they are targeting women in an attempt to make them insecure and uncomfortable with their bodies. I have spoken with other friends about the ad and they feel similarly.
I have always favored MSNBC over CNN because I like the diversity of hosts and panelists. However, I find this such an irritant that I am going to try CNN. If they run that ad constantly as well, I guess I will restrict myself to print media.
Desired outcome: Replace the commercial with one less offensive.
For God’s sake get over yourself! If hear the phrase BUTT CRACK is the worst thing that’s happened to you today, you’ll live!
NOT during dinner, nor anytime, really. There are less graphic and disgusting ways to sell this product.
Do you comprehend why you've been downvoted so many times? The reason we're all here and upvoting this post is because of the entire commercial. It's horrible. It's disgusting. All of it. The OP mentioned one specific thing that bothers her but overall the entire commercial for various reasons is something we all hate.
Save yourself some agony. It is on CNN at least four times per hour.
Karen Lam likes to hear a woman say buttcrack...classy woman...Pfft...
Wake up!
I’ll bet Karen Lam is the type that likes to smell her own farts as she is applying the Lume to her pubes. She’s a nasty one for sure and is probably connected with Lume company in some disgusting way. 🤢🤮
I turn off MSNBC when the Lume add happens. Totally in your face crap. I resent some woman talking about my under boob and butt crack as being places to use her product. I have no reason to use any product of this type in any area. I won't give her my money for a "problem" that doesn't exist except in the mind of some money hu gry stupid company under the thrall of an add agency.
So funny because I knew someone named Kimberly Allen, whose name changed with marriage, and I must say that I totally agree with you. I cannot stand that totally unclassy, and disgusting Shannon Klingman, who looks horrible, and quite unclean, as in greasy, in those vile, disgusting commercials. She must stink horribly to even come up with such a product, much less market that Lume product in such an disgusting, unwholesome manner. Nobody normal minded wants to constantly hear these horrible commercials, especially if they bathe regularly, and smell great. Shannon Klingman insists that everybody is filthy dirty all of the time, and must buy her products, but just look at how she appears, plus her totally unprofessional behavior. She is one truly gross person, and it is high time for Class Action Lawsuits to come pouring in. I am sick, and tired of hearing about her stink, stank, stunk problems. Good riddance!
You forgot to add that Shannon Klingman gives off the appearance of being a skank.
Totally AGREE. This commercial is disgusting.
I agree it is vulgar and disgusting. And the woman advertising it is vulgar and disgusting
100% agree. Nasty women.
Exactly! If you practice good hygiene you don’ need this product. They are trying to make people think that the had better use it, or they’ll be offensive, with is utter nonsense. Human beings have a scent which is not necessarily offensive, and we actually “communicate “ on a subconscious level with our scent — it’s a part of physical attraction.
PS — I used it and now my dog doesn’t recognize me! LOL! Just kidding, but I don’t think that body smell is as big an issue as Lume makes it out to be. Just shower or bathe regularly & you should be fine.
Yeah, I think that woman is offended by her own body, which seems strange for an OB/GYN.
I'm drinking a glass of buttermilk and this commercial comes on and the as I'm listening and watching the commercial I feel like I'm drinking a dirty sock.
As if she and her product hawking weren't bad enough already, now there's a new commercial featuring a Lume employee and it takes place near her open bathroom door. Her toilet is in the the background and, oh how darling!, a toddler training toilet is, too. Two toilets for scenery.
'Vulgar, disgusting, low class, armpit in your face ad that should be removed from TV. The channel gets changed immediately and I hope the FCC pulls it off the air. Pure trash.
100% agree and also flip the channel or turn tv off. Soooo crass and gross. NO ONE wants to hear how smelly she is and where! Super gross ad!
Thanks, Kimberly, but your first mistake was watching MSNBC (or CNN)... but to be fair, FNC plays those commercials too. In fact, they were showing them so much for a while that I thought the Lume lady was going to be the new "My Pillow guy".
I agree that the use of “butt crack” is annoying, but for me, it's because of the inaccuracy of the term. A crack is "a line on the surface of something along which it has split without breaking into separate parts." "Butt" is the short form of buttocks. Buttocks (glutes) are already separate parts. The accurate word would be cleavage.
Under boob is almost as bad. I hate it. Stopped using lume because of this disgusting ad
Lol I never knew there was such a thing as a ‘under boob’ until I starting hearing these revolting TV commercials, that nasty woman needs to be banned from TV.
Yeah, butt CNN is running it too.
The lady who pitches this product in the TV commercials is simply nasty with her gross descriptions of the human anatomy in support of her product claims. These are the most disgusting ads that I have ever seen on TV and I find it shocking to see them on CNN, MSNBC and BBC America. This would seem to be a better fit for the Fox News demographic and they should keep it there.
Every time I hear her voice; I change the channel.
I start singing la la la la la la la laaaa until it goes away... haha
I know what you mean. I look away, put my hands over ears, and, "blah blah blah blah blah. . . ." Hearing/seeing them the first time was way more than enough.
You should hear the latest one. I had a news show on YouTube through the blue tooth in my car and suddenly my 7 and 9 year olds got to hear about "semen leaking from my vagina". I'm filing an FCC complaint and a complaint with my state attorney general.
That's a great idea. It's as if no one thought about or more likely cared that people and their kids are being forced to listen to this lume woman who has no decent boundaries. We're not even given a choice of whether we want to hear about semen leaking out of a vagina for days after sex if we want to watch an innocent video . meanwhile other youtubers are being censored for saying the word murder while recounting a crime investigation. It's bad enough to drive me away from watching whatever I intended to watch in the first place. Honestly if some one is worried about body odor, get washed up and re examine diet issues.
I agree, their ads should be removed everywhere. The commercials disgust me, offend me, and are both audio and visually revolting, not to mention so unprofessional and demeaning. The product may work, I don’t know, but the commercials are a definite NO THNKS!
I'm glad you're officially standing up against these vile, intrusive ads. They're way beyond the line of decency.
I tried sending emails to the company about my thoughts about the woman that advertises this Lume product, but, they all get kicked back...So glad I found this area to give my opinion. That so called doctor who says she invented this product seems like she is an escapee from a Mental Institution, she is really repulsive in her description of this product which, & I expect somebody with a butterfly net will finally catch her & put her back in her padded room. Who in their right mind would consider buying a product with this woman giving those descriptions, certainly, no one that I know? She looks just like a slob in all the ads I have seen & been repulsed by..
Yep. Exactly.
it is the most unnecessarily disgusting ad I have ever seen. I'd like to take her b - crack and turn it inside out.
This ad is everywhere and everyone hates it! This lady must be paying a fortune to run this campaign across network TV and YouTube! She's a "doctor" so that means she knows better and can act in her own ad. She should've talked to a public relations person or had some insight into what's appropriate lol
She said boob and butt, they sky is falling! With all the crap going on in the world and you're whining about kid versions of words used to describe anatomy? Get a life people.
Fake profile alert. Why would this person go on this forum? It's probably that really that Lume woman.
Yes, I know. I typed the word that an extra time.
Bridget, I have to ask. How gross are YOU?! I admit, I am 40 lbs. overweight, 10 years past my prime, I dress in Walmart's best, and I can't control the gas that I pass? Do you want me to go onto TV and advertise Flabby Gabby's [censored]-Control Creme? Can I drop my drawers and show you my best parts?
Can we have television, You-Tube, Facebook, Twitter (oops, X), Instagram, Tik-Tok, whatever, where people are not grossing out the rest of the population? You can advertise your products in a dignified manner.
Wow, I'm not the only one who despises these Lume commercials! I hit "mute" and look away. Obviously it's a bad enough advertisement that this many of us oppose it's existence. Just when you think you've seen & heard it all, another "human being" finds new disgusting ways to surprise and shock us. How about presenting in a gentle, respectful manner? I would NEVER call her a Doctor, have her as my gynecologist or even try to converse with her. And I will NEVER buy Lume!
My solution is to be aware of this commercial, as well as of those bowel movement, heart attack, and stroke medication side effect commercials, and ready to mute them. This woman looks especially gross. Like a mom of 5 who hasn't showered in days. So much unpleasantness can be said in seconds. So always be aware of where your remote is located.
The Lume commercials are uncouth and disgusting. There are no boundaries in television advertising and the Lume commercial is one of the worst. Hard to believe the unkempt woman who came up with this product is a physician. Thank goodness for the mute button on my TV remote.
I am glad I am not the only one who finds this commercial utterly revolting and disgusting and am sick to death of seeing it. And it's so funny when the woman in the commercial states she is going to show how she applies the product to her buttcrack--then oh yeah--she says is just joking. Really funny right? :P NOT! This crass commercial crosses all lines for good taste and disgusting content. This horrible company is just one more example of corrupt billionaires targeting insecure people to fleece their bank accounts. I have read plenty or horrible reviews about their customer service and delivery as well. I feel if you are hygienic and shower or bathe daily there is no need whatsoever for such a ridiculous product. I would NEVER in a million years buy this product to begin with and it's horrible commercial only compounds that sentiment exponentially! I hope everyone boycotts this product!
I agree with you! This woman and her commercial are utterly disgusting..I don't need a disheveled woman talking about butt cracks. At the very least, she could dress a bit better and present her products with a bit more class.
I've read the reviews and apparently the products themselves aren't worth purchasing. Seems to me, a bath or shower with simple soap and water suffices.
I often wonder if stations that air commercials of this low quality, just try to generate drama.
It sure would be nice to have this commercial banned. I won't hold my breath!
I was initially surprised but found it funny, not sure why people are so sensitive to someone saying "butt crack". Much better than the "nausea, indigestion, diarrhea" and other horrific drugs and disease-related commercials.
Decorum. Decorum. It means, "behavior in keeping with good taste and propriety." None of that here. I get to see a gross earth-dog woman wipe her smelly armpits and then talk about her [censored]-crack.
My response: I immediately leave the media channel and ban it for several hours. Vomit. Repeat offender? I don't come back. What a gross woman! Stringy hair, no makeup, droopy 40s face, and then, AND THEN, this whack [censored] shows me the grossest part of her body. Is she trying to drive potential customers away?
If, LUME had this miraculous reputation for making sticky parts of a person's body smell good, then I would be less offended. From everything I have read, LUME stinks like toilet water, sewer odor, bottom of the garbage can, uncleanable residue, a funky Simpson's NERD butt-crack invention.
Please stop invading my visual space. You, LUME earth-dog, just like the Progressive Insurance fake imitation of a woman FLO, the Liberty-Biberty EMU violating 70s television fake, etc., STOP!
What ever happened to Plop-plop, fizz, fizz?
I sent a complaint through their website. I don't normally do that for anything. Usually, I am the one getting the complaints in my e-mail.
They will not mention male genitalia because it was formulated by a Ob/Gyn for women.
Way Cool. Man Bad. Woman Good. Man is evil. Woman stink smells good.
I am so disgusted by the Lume woman that I have turned away from feminine beauty. Forget what I learned in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s from Cheryl Ties, Farrah Fawcett, Christie Brinkley, Heidi Klum, etc., This gross woman makes me puke! Yes, I am a gross, fat, old man, but nothing I dare show out-grosses this person. UNDER-ARM? BUTT-CRACK? Pussy-stink? She prides herself on how bad her BO is as a sales tool. Yes, look at her earth-dog, arm-pit stink, way-past-her prime looks and pay her MONEY. What?! The?! F***?!
Now this obnoxious money grubbing company has added a strictly men's line of products and they talk about a man's "package". Who needs this crap polluting the airwaves. More offensive than any odor on the planet is that these true a-holes are pushing this garbage product on the public.
Wow. That lume woman is repulsive. I’m not trying to be mean. She just looks like she doesn’t bathe. So, if I’m understanding these ads correctly, they are telling people to skip showers and smear some gross cream around their body? These ads are so gross. I’m around women everyday and I don’t know what that woman is talking about with odors. It’s just an easy way to make profit off of shaming people out of their hygiene. This woman has no shame whatsoever. I cannot stand these commercials. When I’m eating I am completely grossed out if that commercial comes up. I just wish people understood that most people don’t need her products. It’s shame targeting especially for women
I am also totally disgusted by her obnoxious way of speaking and behavior that is not becoming of anyone who is supposed to be a doctor. She has no class and should not be the sponsor of her own product. I can assure you she wants to be in front of the camera, thinks she's superior, probably doesn't listen to anyone who might advise her of not doing the kind of commercials she is doing, who likes hearing her own voice - "I'm the inventor of..." "I'm a doctor..." yada yada yada What's actually in the product? I never hear her talk about that. No, let's not normalize discussing in public butt cracks and crotches. It's a slippery slope. Let's have some decency.
