Everyday I received phone calls from Magic Jack [protected] Ft. Lauderdale Florida. When I answer, they hang up. I called the number back that called me and it states the mail box is full and you can't leave a message. I emailed Magic Jack and a CHAT line came up to type. I explained that I'm tired of getting phone calls from your company and the person on the other end hangs up on me. I then called Magic Jack to opt me out of their company. CHAT line typed back and stated to call the toll free number which I did. I explained the problem to them and they hung up. What's the next step to handling this? Are they getting paid each time they call my home and when I call them back? If so, that mean I'm getting charged for this unwanted service. l

I placed an order approximately 2 days ago for five years term restart my magic jack telephone number [protected] which I received confirmation for this event.
I tried to use my magic jack will without success. I called magicJack for support only to find they wanted another $300 fix the problem which they said was infecting my computer. I think this is a scam and I want you people to be aware that people at the other end are using magicJack's name to entice people to have their computers repaired before they can use magicJack. When I told the person that I do not wish to spend $300 for repair they immediately hung up. I would like magicJack offered me a legitimate support to rectify my problem. If there is no solution I request you return my money for $107That I paid that I paid for a five year term

I have had my magicjack for 3-4 years and usually do not have problems renewing my subscritptions. This year however, I have and continue to not only not recieve responses back from mj. But, they in return keep sending me vm's asking me to renew my phone number when upon renewing my contract I went right to there website and renewed it and it did not state I also needed to renew my phone number which is an additional $10.00. Since I live on disability only and a budget (like everyone else) I now do not have the funds to renew my phone # for a week and need my phone to make emergencey calls (if needed). This is totally uncalled for in our society now a days and would like for mj to have available a better customer service experience in the future.

I bought prepaid minutes and applied it to my magic jack app and was using it on my cell phone. I upgraded my cell phone and retained the same phone number but when I tried to use the magic jack app. it said that there was no available funds and that I would have to purchase prepaid minutes. I logged on to my magic account and saw that funds were available. I then contacted magic jack and explained to them that all I did was upgrade my phone but the phone number was the same and the account is the same all I want is for that balance to be applied so that I can use it. The agent told me that he cannot apply the balance and that I should use it up by using the phone that I was using before. I explained, that I no longer had that device since I traded it in for the new device so I would not be able to do that, he said that there is nothing that he could do. I asked why is he not able to do that, but he could not explain why, he just said that he could not and disconnected the chat. Since it was a small amount I let it go and bought more prepaid minutes and applied it to the new phone. Now two months later the new phone stopped working and I had to get a new device but again kept the same number and here I am again with the same problem, now I have available balances of prepaid minutes on two magic jack apps. all on the same account and magic jack is refusing to apply any of the remaining balances to the new device. I think that this is wrong and I think that we all should file complaints with the state Attorney General.

We have not had MagicJack for several months now.
I ordered a magicjack, paid extra for quick shipping. I got a USPS shipping tracking # and it shows they never received it for shipping, just that MagicJack made a shipping label. Thus, I have no magicjack. It has been over a month and I have spent worthless hours with the online help to get this resolved and have gotten nowhere. Do not buy online! Buy at store and if it doesnt work return it. This company has the worst customer support.
I hate when my magic jack phone is not working like now, and their website is down. I need to use my mg phone, the only phone I have at the moment. The device still wont connect. I had the phone for 2 years and sometimes I am not able to use the phone, or it drops calls. I think I'm going to go buy a cell phone instead..

then took it out again on debit number. canceled old card so they can''t do it again this type of action is cya what they do is fraud. the bank doesn't like that, the man also. they need to be arrested or sued.
I just got done spending an hour trying to register with them. During the process there was a number of times that pop up ads appeared which caused me to get a California phone number. I would have preferred a number from state I live in Georgia.
I tried to get it changed through their live chat but to no luck. They even “hung up on me” since they would help.

I returned my magicJack product and found AGAIN that funds had been removed from my debit account. Isn't it fraud to keep both the product and the funds that were deducted? I now understand why this company cannot be reached by telephone. With their business practices they wouldn't be able to staff the phones to field all the dissatisfied consumers!
Just spent 3 hours on magicjack chat, did the same things three times trying to fix it with no results. Asked for a replacement, they refused. Asked for an address to write them and they cut off chat. I recommend not using magicjack.
product doesn't work as advertised
I bought the new MagicJack USB pluggable VOIP system from Best Buy and installed it on home computer. I am a very savy IT guy. Immediately I noticed that calls were going to the MJ Voice Mail system, even though no one had been on our phone.
They advertise caller ID, but its a lie. The NUMBER of the person calling you does show on your phone — but not the callers name — I called them and they said in order for the Name to show, you'd have to manually enter the callers name in their database! Well, 1/3 the calls we get are surveys/junk calls... which I am not about to enter into a database just so I don't have to answer the call.
Well yesterday, all of a sudden we started getting calls where our phone would ring but there would be no one there... turned out they could hear us but we could not hear them. So I got on chat with Magic Jack support and after 2 hours and 4 people [plus three separate re-installs], we got it working. I called AT&T and got a landline installed. I fired Magic Jack.

suspension of services without any reason
I have used magic jack for 2 or more years now and this past 2 months I have had much difficulty. My services of magic jack have been suspended without even intimating me. When I called the magic Jack Customer Care Team asking why my services have been suspended they people are telling me that I have violated the rules that's why my magic jack services have been suspended. When I have asked them can they pl tell me that what kind of rules I have violated they people rudely told me that I need to go through the terms & conditions. Out of all the Term & Conditions I have violated one of them. I called Magic Jack and went through many things trying to fix this problem but the problem was never resolved so it must be there... Even I need to renew my magic jack services on 24th Sept but my services have been suspended on 14th Sept without intimating me. The Magic Jack team could have sent me an email on my registered email id i.e. [protected]@gmail.com. Can you pl do the needful I will be very thankful to you.

Total false adverting and tech run around; NOT as advertised!
I purchase a Magic Jack Plus based on their advertising that the customer get Phone Service For Life! Free Phone Calls with magic Jack PLUS. The Consumer gets: FREE Local and Long Distance, FREE International Calling. I have the advertising that is FALSE as Magic Jack will NOT honor the FREE International Calling without having to pay for the international calls.

It is not false advertising. It is free if you are calling to the US or Canada, which is considered "international" depending where you are calling from.
bad service and poor quality
I have had MagicJack for many years and accepted the poor quality of the service because it was at the beginning of a new product thriving on the market and offering a cheap service. However, they have increased the prices but not the quality of their services. I had my device with a problem recently and got a replacement that does not work. I received the replacement the day I had to fly overseas to find out that MagicJack sent me a bad piece. I have contacted them a few times to have my problem fixed and they can only ship to my address in NYC, not overseas unless I want to pay the international shipment. And once I was in a live chat with one of their agents, after 20 minutes they disconnected the conversation because it was 10pm ET (USA). And even though you cannot use your Magic Jack device because they have made a mistake, they will not compensate the time you have been prevented by them using Magic Jack. It is really a bad practice. I advice you before acquiring their products, thinking over and over again.

poor quality
I have used magic jack for 4 or more years now and this past 8 months I have had much difficulty with making calls. I tend to hear most of the time the person well but I seem to come in to them choppy hearing every other word and long delays. I use to use skype prior to magic jack and started having the same problem with skype so that is why I changed to Magic Jack. Now, I noticed that Skype has used some new technology and their calls are clear, crisp with no delay. I called Magic Jack and went through many things trying to fix this problem but the problem was never resolved so it must be there technology. I use my Magic Jack on a 3g Modem which has low bandwidth but Skype is now work real well for me but not my Magic Jack. I hope the company can address this and get with the technology as I do not plan to renew my subscription nor recommend them anymore.

I have used magic jack for two years. I have read many of the complaints. The best way to fight magic jack is in the courts. If more people would file a complaint for fraud agains mj they would not hold your money with their system did not work. They can't afford that many lawyers. They would take a look at their proceedure and change it... Like most of you stated, the service is terrible. You can't even speak to a human. The voice is garbled with at least 50% of the calls. Half the time it is not working. Voip is good if it works but internet speed and mj computers are not working all the time. It has to be mj computers if I show I got good speed and five bars of signal strength. I work out of country and am not in usa for court but I will join a class action lawsuit if one of you can find an attorney that will represent us as a group. They are out there. Any company that won't allow it's customers to talk to a human is not a good company.

holding back number porting
They charge yearly for number porting when it should be a one time charge. Never contacted me when I was up for renewal they just shut the line down. Magic jack wants you to supply them with a auto renewal. When I dropped the service they are holding back my number which I ported over to the a year ago. Now verizon has informed me there is federal request to port my number back. Now will have no business phone for 2weeks.

We contacted Magic Jack on their web page and they sent us the wrong part and we have now been without home phone service for over two weeks. We cannot get docto'rs calls to remind us for the appointments and neither can we call for emergency services should we need it at a moment's notice.
As far as I am concerned I have a few words for them. THEIR SERVICE SUCKS and they do not seem to know what they are doing. Imagine sending the WRONG PART and after all this time we still have not received the right part from them.

Misleading and Falsification of Various information
I had purchase a magic jack unit back in 2010 with a five(5) year subscription. This unit had to be plugged into a working computer.
In 2012 I purchased the new MagicJack plus that no longer needed a working computer and plugged directly into the network router.
Before I purchased the new MagicJack PLUS I was assured by a MagicJack Representative in writing (via email) that the remainder of my five(5) year plan which was on the old MagicJack account would be transferred to my NEW MagicJack PLUS account. However after I purchased the new unit and called MagicJack support I was told that my old account could NOT be transferred and I had to pay ANOTHER amount of money for a new five(5) year plan. which I had no option to and did.
MAGIC JACK Stole my money and refused to refund me the balance of credit on my old magicjack account!

I totally agree with you on this issue. In my case I had a magicjack standard and bought the magicjack plus porting the old number over to the plus. Even though the magicjack standard was no longer in use and the number ported to the magicjack plus they automatically renewed and charged me for the magicjack standard. With only online chat for support and the inability to save the chats the operators can tell you anything they want and when you try to get an update a so called "manager/supervisor" will tell you that you will be receiving a refund until, that is, the next "manager/supervisor" will tell you that you may not get a refund. Without anything in writing or recording they promise the moon and deliver empty space. It is impossible to find a responsible party and live phone voice or proper department. I have never in my entire life dealt with such poor customer service. I am not trying to dispute the charge with my credit company. We will see if they can fix this debacle. I luckily was able to remove the automatic renewal for the plus on the last day of may service and I will be looking to the competition. I am a former dissatisfied MagicJack customer. Good Luck. They should be ashamed to headquarter in the City on the Hill, a light for the world, Israel.
unreliable and raised fees
Used Majic Jack for One year, many many times calls dropped and dead phone service. Went to renew another year hoping it would get better with time, found out it wasn't a $1.70 month, but $29.99 plus taxes to renew, Then they wanted another 9.99 plus taxes for the use of my own phone number again. Extremely hard to get to talk to anybody, a live chat if your lucky.
You get what you pay for. I feel this is a dishonest company and you should stay away and try other low cost plans now available.

Agree - dropped calls. First support calls resulted in Customer Support suggesting that I change USB port frequently. The cost per their suggested frequency would have equaled the bill I cancelled from AT&T. I decided to invest in a beefed up higher amp rated USB port. I also dedicated an industrial 12 guage electrical extension cord to dedicate an isolated wall plug to the MJ device. Still after 30 mins the MJ dropped the calls. This makes the device unusable for any support call where you may be working thru a problem with a computer site customer support group.. MJ customer support responded to this last situation by telling me that the product was working well within their expectations. Would I please fill out a suggestion form? I did.

I had an old magic jack in the draw that never work, although I paid for five years of service. The computer program never logged in and no one could solve the problem. And, then the owner of magic jack, gave a 30 day trial for the computer less magic jack. I ordered it.. And it did not work. I used live agent.. And bought all new cords, and a new phone. It gives an error 30020 or something. I am going to post this on you tube. I would warn anyone not to purchase this item.

My Magic Jack Plus worked. with Bright House but won't work with my Verison. I now must plug the Mgk + into my Desktop's USB port to make it work. I found the MgJ's Android ap for my other Android but cannot find it for my Verizon Android. I use another Android Call App just fine but now I cannot. Use my MG J assigned #. Verizon's Android @ $20/mo is a worthwhile alternative to mobile phone service which includes their very good Android.

scam - can't call any number
MagicJack is a Scam, Fraud, and Unethical company. Stay away. Don’t subscribe to the service. They advertise a customer can call any phone anywhere free in USA or Canada; however, that is a lie. Tucked into Section 4 of the Terms and Conditions gives them the right to block any calls they want – or charge an extra fee to complete the call - such as calls to phones using other VOIP services, local calls to fully paid discount calling card services such as overseas, local calls to conference and other connection services, etc. I can’t even call my home or office because we use another VOIP service. Worse, I can’t call my family in Thailand using a local call discount card, as it competes with their long-distance program.
These facts are not mentioned up-front, or revealed when ordering. A customer needs to run into trouble before they become aware of the limitation. Calling Customer Service is no good as all they do is refer you to the TERMS and CONDITIONS that does not point out the where calls require extra payment.

overbilled on renewal
I renewed my magic jack sub and was charged regulatory fees twice a fee that was never charged to my account before and also an automatic sub renewal fees which I did not request.
The cost of the subscription has in fact doubled my charges. I was not satisfied with the response from the agent and was given a link to confim my request to cancel my account and the request for the refund.
The connecting link was broken. I still do not know when or if my refund will be actioned. What do I do from here
illegal use of credit card information
My complaint is that they illegally kept my credit card information on their data base... attempted to charge it without my permission and raised the price without informing me. They were charging my card at 2:40 am giving me one hour notice to cancel without them ever being given permission to do an auto charge in the first place. They did not respond to the charge that they had illegally kept information on my credit card on their data base, then attempted to charge my card an automatic payment without my permission. Also raised the price from 20.91 to 32.29 without informing me. They sent me an email at 2:40 am on 04-24-2013 telling me they had charged my card for the 32.29 and that I had one hour to respond if I wanted to cancel the charge.

magic jack is answering calls I make to a magicjack customer
Whenever I call my parents who have MagicJack, I have to hang up and call them back three to five times before it rings at their house. This started the beginning of Feb. 2013. I dial their number (same one that's been stored for a year or so, so nothings changed), it rings once and then MagicJack picks up and tells me "if you would like to to make a call within the United States absolutely free, being using Magic Jack by simply visiting the website magicJack.com, thats magic jack .com, your call can not be completed either you dialed the wrong number or your number has been blocked or is restricted. contact your carrier to have your number unblocked. (Copied from their advertising message. not word for word, as it was alot to listen and type, but its pretty much correct)"
This IS UNFAIR ADVERTISING! My number is not blocked and like I said, after 3-5 times of dialing and hanging up, it goes through. Their phone is not busy, nor off the hook.
THIS COMPANY IS CHEATING ME OUT OF MY MONEY BY REDIRECTING MY CALLS TO THEM TO GIVE ME THE ADVERTISEMENT.
I cannot contact the company via E-mail or phone. only online. POOR CUSTOMER SVC.

Just started getting this message today here in WI when trying to call my MagicJack number from a Sprint cell phone in the same area code (920).
"If you would like to make and receive calls anywhere in the United States absolutely free, simply visit magicjack.com & begin making calls for free, it takes only seconds, that's MagicJack.com. The magic JacK number you've called has not yet been assigned to a customer, please check the number you've dialed and dial again."
Occasionally will get through but then get the message again. No relatives with a Sprint cell get through, receive the same message. MagicJack customer service is NO HELP ... claim it's not their issue ... even though it's THEIR advertisement.
