Mercy Medical Center Medical records

There were medical records requested in July. The wrong forms were sent in the clerk said they were non compliant. They sat there for over a month until I called and was told that. I am not sure why there was no communication for that and they could not contact the requester and send the correct forms or at least let them know they were not the right forms as the information is time sensitive. There were several messages left with them and not one was followed up with. I find this very insensitive and unprofessional.

Desired outcome: Expedited medical records and better communication.

Mercy Medical Center Emergency room death

My mom end up in Springfield Mercy emergency room with internal bleeding. So called doctors in emergency room failed to do any treatment to stop bleeding or even to find out where it is. Until more than 24 hours later she had a major bleeding and end up in coma after their treatment. She passed away 3 days later. All 3 “ doctors” non American and without any knowledge were very rude and harassed me every day to take my mom of life support. Mercy killing people by hiring some foreign “doctors “ without American medical education.

Mercy Medical Center Treatment of psychiatric patients

I have only been admitted to two different hospitals, on two separate occasions, in my adult life. The first one was pleasant, despite the circumstances, but this hospital was one of the worst experiences I have ever gone through. It was traumatic! In August of 2022, I voluntarily took a cab to this hospital to turn myself in on a 5150. I didn't want to kill myself but the thoughts and feelings were becoming overwhelming and I was worried I couldn't fight it alone. If you're unfamiliar with the process, a person has to be checked out by the hospital before they're put into a psych ward. There were no available beds at any of the psych wards, from Sacramento to Bakersfield. I get it, this was out of the hospital's hands. While waiting for beds to open up, 5 of us women, all there for the same thing, were kept in a dark room. We were hushed when we tried to talk to each other. Meanwhile, the staff laughed at a guy in the next room cursing profusely, saying racist slurs, and loudly bragging about molesting children. This was in the middle of the night so none of us were able to rest. We were on hard, vinyl-covered recliners that squeaked any time any of us moved. Why weren't we given beds, especially knowing we could be there for an extended amount of time? Did I mention I was there for 36 hours? Yes, 36 hours in a freaking recliner! Also, I was manic because they refused to give me my medication. Imagine drinking a ton of coffee and then being told to sit down and stay quiet for 36 hours. It was torture! I asked to use the restroom a couple of times and they had an attitude about it, as if I were bothering them, so I would hold it as long as I could so that I didn't have to bother them too much. They were also very irritated that I wasn't able to eat and gave me more attitude about that, rolling their eyes and sighing. I would physically gag when I tried to eat because the circumstances were so stressful. I was honestly trying to be as quiet and cooperative as I could so I didn't upset the staff. About 30 hours in, I had a really bad headache that was making it even harder to rest. I asked for Tylenol and they told me I would be leaving soon so the psych ward would give me Tylenol. I toughed it out for a few more hours and asked again. They gave me the same response. About an hour later, almost in tears, I begged that they give me Tylenol and they finally did. Apparently they just didn't want to do the paperwork since I was soon to be someone else's problem. When someone is there because they want to harm themselves, making them feel like they are a burden is one of the worst things a person can do and that is what these people did. The entire situation has made me hesitant to call for help when I'm having suicidal thoughts because I don't want to go there again. I am tempted to say, "I would rather kill myself than go here again," but I know that's dramatic. I just know I will never go here by choice, ever again.

Desired outcome: I don't expect the room to turn into a Hilton, but get some beds and put those recliners somewhere else. They're not meant for a 36+ hour visit. Teach some sympathy to the staff.

Mercy Medical Center Billing

Im a new mama. I have supplementary insurance and been handling with billing for awhile. I dont know why or what but me and my insurance has been asking for my itimized bill “with code” or ub04 document for awhile now. Have been calling them back and forth and they have only provided me with wrong bill or with i cannot release it to you as patient and only can release to insurance. They have said they will be sending it to my insurance then we call them again and said it will be their back office who will send it and it might take 7 business days but because its claim 30 days but said “who knows” they have been the reason of my post stress after child birth. They have been unreliable. Plus they sent me a bill that states its due already! How can i pay if they cant even release the form needed!

Called and called. No help, agents are rude.

Desired outcome: Send my insurance the correct bill!

Mercy Medical Center Dr Patrick Miller

I had a follow up visit scheduled for 2:40 today. The office is 25 minutes from home and requires me to take time off work. I realized while driving that I was going to be a little late due to the rainy weather and very slow traffic. I called the doctors office to let them know and was told he has a 10 minute rule so may not see me if later than that. I walked into the office at 2:48. The front desk said she would need to check with the doctor to see if he would see me. I pulled out my phone and showed her the time as 2:49. She came back to say he would not see me because he had meetings following my appointment. I said that was not right, I was there within their 10 minute window quoted on the phone. No use, they denied service. This was out of line that they would not honor what was shared in phone call. It is also frustrating since I was made to wait more than 10 minutes for the doctor at my previous visit. This issue should be addressed with the doctor. It is not fair or acceptable practice.

Desired outcome: Service to be addressed with doctor and standard clearly posted for others. They need to honor what they quote. I know you cannot compensated for missed work but it really bothers me that this was allowed to happen.

Mercy Medical Center Gastrointestinal and digestive health, scheduling dept

I was given the incorrect prep sheet for my lower double balloon enteroscopy scheduled for October 19. I do not have very much time to take off from work, I have multiple chronic health conditions, and I live several hours away, so this was more than just an inconvenience for me. The scheduling staff for Dr. Kantsevoy gave me the upper bowel prep sheet and so I did not know to complete the lower bowel prep, as I did not receive information or instructions on how to do so. I called the day before the procedure and asked if I needed to do an enema or anything like that, and my call was not returned. Now I am attempting to schedule the correct procedure for which I was referred to Dr. Kantsevoy, but I also have to redo a good amount of the preop items, which I also don’t have time to takeoff for. They went ahead and did an upper bowl and enteroscopy, with my consent of course, because I had already taken off, driven the 3 hours there and did not find this out until checking in for the procedure. That was not what I was referred for and it didn’t seem to be necessary since the capsule test indicated that the officers in my small intestines were closer to the lower end. my arrival time was 11 o’clock and the procedure time was scheduled for 1 PM, so there is no reason why somebody could not have caught this issue during the morning hours. It already took three months from scheduling to having the procedure, and it has been over two years since we have been trying to diagnose this condition, for which we cannot begin treatment until we have a confirmed diagnosis. I have yet to receive even an apology.

Mercy Medical Center CHI corporate office, MMC corporate office, MMC HR Dept.

My spouse was employed by MMC Durango, CO for 27 yrs. 1995 thru 2021.

In 2014 CHI had us sign a contract to rollover his pension to a Traditional IRA with Fidelity. Then someone in the HR Dept at MMC intercepted that rollover and had it moved to a 0% interest money market in Wells Fargo. The contract that we signed was altered with an ink blot over the most pertinent info. Legal personnel and altered document expert say the altering invalidates it, because it was notarized.

The HR director then had distribution checks sent to the HR dept at MMC. Everything needed to cash these checks was in my spouse's file there in HR. His signature was traced , forged, and possibly copied by a computer program of some sort. Not one person at CHI or MMC (except for the thief) returned one email or call I made. There was zero help from anyone at all. We have been ignored totally. I guess that is the way they treat 27 yr excellent employee's, I am going to take this HR person as well as CHI to civil court. It will be well covered by media as to expose them. I have tried to reach out to them to make this right. I would think they would want to right this terrible wrong. Its been a nightmare and my husband regrets ever working there. Its been one insult after another. And most of all , it has been very very sad. CHI claims to be so "christian" and they can't even care about a good employee, after 27yrs. They just cannot do the right thing. It is still their fault that some low life HR person stole an employee's pension. It definetely wasnt her first rodeo.

Desired outcome: CHI and MMC need to make this right and reimburse this ex employee. The case will halt if this wrong is made right.

Mercy Medical Center Billing

You're going to love this one

I opened a letter this morning before going to work and it was a bill for a very large amount of dollars, I noticed on the billing statement where I had made a 40-dollar payment just last month, this information will be important before I am done righting this complaint, when I got a chance, I called the Hospital billing department and asked about the bill and I said there had to be some kind of mistake, after looking up the information the lady said basically that's right your insurance paid it ? will pay it ? haven't paid us yet but you are in the clear, the reason I put question marks is because the lady was hard to understand but it was clear to me I was not required to pay the bill, so I asked do I get my 40 dollars back then and the lady said no, I asked why if I am not obligated to pay this bill and I made a mistake and paid it because the statement you sent me looked like a bill why don't I get my 40 dollars back and she said because you already paid it ?, I don't understand, what if I would of paid 1000 dollars would they keep that amount and what the insurance pays that would be an extra 1000 dollars for them, this does not sound like it's on the up and up. if I am not responsible for the bill then why send it to me, or they should make it clear that I am not responsible etc..., I would like better communication, like I said earlier I paid 40 dollars to them when I didn't even need to because I was confused, it reminds me of some kind of a scam more than a Heathcare business.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology; it causes me great anxiety when I receive a billing statement like this when it's not necessary,

Mercy Medical Center Your female "security guards" are racist and mean

This is for the Baltimore city MD location.

Today I had the displeasure of having to have to come in contact with your very mean, very racist, female security guards. One at the ER and one on the bridge into the hospital. Wow, you could have cut the air with a knife. It's pretty clear neither one of them like white people. The scowl on the ER security guard when I asked her for legimate help was unbelievable. I had a hospital bracelet

on and I was in a lot of pain. She treated me so badly I actually cried when I got out of the building. The other one was also racist in my opinion because she yelled at me and other white and Hispanic people. Who the hell are they to treat me this way. I'm a patient not a hospital invader. You had better do something about them. I may never come back there after this. Shame on all of you.

Desired outcome: They really should be fired. They have real hate in their hearts. I do not trust either of them. You shouldn't either.

Mercy Medical Center Refund owe to me

I saw a Mercy Hospital provider that my insurance company usually pays for the visit. When it was billed to my insurance, they coed it wrong. I pleaded with them to correct the code but they refused. I ended up with a bill of $196.00. I fought it for 6 months and I finally paid it even though they were in the wrong because I didn't want bad credit. I always pay all my bills. A month later I get a call from my insurance company that Mercy was in the wrong and I would be refunded the money minus the co-payment which should be for $156.00. I also got a letter in May from my insurance company which stated that the case is closed because Mercy gave me a refund which is not true. I have been fighting for my refund for 6 months. They keep telling me that they refunded it back to my charge card. I checked with my charge card a few time and I look on line and they never have refunded it to me. I am tired of talking with billing. They are the worst, so bad that I have changed doctors not to be associated with Mercy Hospital. Mind you, this is the second year they owe me a refund and I never got my other refund from 2020. They have ripped me off twice. This latest refund is from a June 10, 2021 appt. How could such a big establishment get away with ripping you off and not being nice about it. I asked to talk to a supervisor and they would not let me. They told me they have no time for me. Any help would be appreciated.

Desired outcome: Please refund me my $156

Mercy Medical Center Cortisone shot/wrists treatment

I saw my PCP (primary care physician) in late Oct 2020 for DeQuervain's Syndrome, after giving birth in December and attending Physical Therapy (PT) I was referred to get the cortisone shot in both wrists. PT had given/fitted me for brace for both wrists. My PCP of 14 years, informed me that the shot should only be done by a hand specialist/plastics person. And though he had 40+ years of experience he said he knows it can easily be messed up if not done by someone trained specifically for this. I went to see a specialist in March 2021. The wrists were fine shortly after and I was healing well. I moved in the summer of 2021 and the move, new place with many stairs - carrying child, and lack of supports in a different state... wrists re-flared up. Reached out to PCP from previous state, he recommended going in locally (Baltimore, MD) to get another shot. [MGMC/McFarland Clinic]

Called Mercy Medical Center up the street from my new residence in Sept 20th, 2021 and got in to see Dr. Clayton Alexander. I was given an x-ray and told that the shot would be the best option due to my level of pain rather than PT at the moment. Upon seeing Dr Alexander, we spoke about and viewed the X-Rays. Then he glanced at my physical wrists and told me that I'll need a cortisone shot in both wrists and this is his nurse and she will handle it. He turned to walk out the room. I asked him, I would like for you to do the shot. HE said that his nurse has done it in the past and it will be fine. I informed him that I've been told by three separate doctors that it is NOT supposed to be done by a nurse, only the specialist. He reiterated that she has done it before and it will be fine and walked out the room. The nurse sprayed my right wrist with the nitrogen then injected my shot. It was more painful than previously. She then sprayed my left and as she was injecting me there was a pop sound. I asked what was that; she stated "that's when you hit the right spot, it's good." I said oh that's wild, that didn't happen before. She told me it should take this time. I do not know her name, her name tag (in the picture I took of her given me the shot) is covered and it just says physician's assistant on the part you can read. I always take pictures of my shots. I prefer to look and observe what is being done. Never thought I would need them for this. I have pictures of my Covid-19 vaccine/booster as well.

I reached out as I have been having pain since Oct 28th 2021. I was moving out of MD to CO for my partner's job. So, I could not get back in before my flight on the 30th. We paid for movers as I could not do it with the pain I was in. I went back into PT here and they suggested I reach out to you all if I truly have a problem with my previous care. The consistent radiating pain is only in my left wrist and most often by the injection site. There was discoloration as well, but has since healed. I occasionally get pain similar back to 2020 in those areas, but the common area is the spot where the pop felt. Both PT workers out here mentioned they believe the shot may have missed the spot where it was supposed to go. I reached out to original PCP from IA and he stated (via nurse response) the same. Now as much as I don't want to think this has to do with dismissing the concerns of women, especially black women and our pain, I can't help but shake that feeling. It's scary as this was happening when giving birth and staff dismissing my pain (including wrists pain). I voiced that I preferred him to do the shot and he brushed off my request and left the room. He didn't even stay to see if it was done correctly. This continues to happen to me. It's just really messed up.

Desired outcome (388characters)

Shot is recommended 3x only. When surgery is needed/is the best option for left wrist, I would like it covered by Mercy/Dr. Alexander. Or if new brace and continued PT required, to cover that alternative. I would also love something stating that he will not push his tasks of administering specialist shots to someone who is not the trained in the same manner. I do not blame the nurse.

Desired outcome: Left wrist: surgery needed/best option- want coverage by Mercy/Dr Alexander. Or covered alternative- new brace/continued PT required. Something stating; he'll not push specialist administering shots to those not trained in this manner

Mercy Medical Center St. Mary's Hospital

On February 19th 2022, my husband was in a motor vehicle accident, where he had a heart attack (no previous health issues) and was revived at the scene, then transported to St. Mary's. When I had got to the hospital, he was stable, but heavily sedated. I advocated for him to be removed from sedation and as his condition improved, he was able to nod his head and respond, he also refused pain medication, wanted the trach out and all imaging showed no injuries. During my frequent visits to the hospital, I was asked by the case manager at the hospital, "who was the girl who called claiming to be his girlfriend?' she also said that she was told that I am not his legal wife. I explained to her that we were married in 2000 and had a separation, where he had met someone and had a baby with her, we were supposed to be divorced, but it didn't go through and we were considering reconciliation. Against my husband's wishes and after speaking with his family out of state, after a week, I decided to allow the mother of his one year old son to visit him. On February 26th, things were improving and I went home around noon, leaving him with the girl him at the hospital. On the 27th around 10 pm, I got a call that he had went into cardiac arrest again. I returned to the hospital and began to ask questions, that's when I had found out that he had been given Fentanyl, not once, but twice and displayed all the symptoms of an overdose. When I found this out, I asked for them to give him the overdose drug, but they refused, denying any wrong doing. The treatment that I received at the hospital was cruel and in humane, they concentrated more on the family dynamic, than the actual care for him. I believe there was medical malpractice and a severe degree of negligence. This complaint is much more extensive and there's way more to the story, like the refusal to let me access my husband's medical records, because of a pending divorce, they also called out of state for consent for treatment, they only acknowledged me as his wife, when it was time to disconnect life support, time to pick the body up from the morgue and the bill. I was told incorrect information about his care, injuries and treatment. I was told that my husband had a broken neck, then told "I didn't mean to say that", I was so exhausted with the back and forth at the hospital, I think I need therapy. I encountered many bullies and incorrect information everyday. They are very arrogant there and was treated worse than I've ever been treated in my life. My husband didn't deserve to die like that, with no injuries, but injuries are what caused him to be brain dead? I was told that there was a "wonder drug" , but then no follow up. I'm just now writing this complaint, because I have been emotionally depleted from the events that took place for 3 weeks at this facility. There is so much more, but I'm trying to be brief, but there is nothing "brief" about this situation

Desired outcome: I would like for my husband's stay at St. Mary's reviewed and to address the mistreatment of myself and my family, so that this never happens to anyone/family again.

Mercy Medical Center Colonoscopy went wrong and doctor did not seem concerned

Colonoscopy went wrong and doctor did not seem concerned. I went to Dr. Lotsoff for a colonoscopy may 2021that is required every 10 years. I told Dr Lotsoff afterwards about the diarrhea and he gave me A prescription. That didn't work so then he gave me another one which slowed down my diarrhea but if I didn't take the medicine i would end up pooping an orange mucus bile and bloating and stomach pains However to date it has continued and I tried to speak to Dr. Lotsoff office earlier and the lady would not let me talk to him and told me I needed to wait until January 14 at my appointment to discuss with him. This has been going on since May. Dr Lotsoff was supposed to send in for a specimen but I got no information on it at all and he was too excited to go on his vacation and forgot to even tell me where to go what to do or that he had ordered the specimen which I was never informed of details Even if I didn't get the specimen you would think that the doctors office would call me at least to remind me or some thing because I never got notification of an appointment that they had scheduled a week later. They scheduled it on MyMercy and didn't have the courtesy to call to tell me that they had scheduled an appointment so the appointment came and went.
That was in May 2021 to date which is December I am still having problems with pooping out bile mucus diarrhea. I told him the last time I talk to him he did not seem concerned. I contacted another doctor and got specimens completed only to find out I have to have another colonoscopy and get a biopsy. Horrible customer service and Dr Lotsoff could care less. I had no problems until after the colonoscopy I'm the only one and another Doctor Who seems to be concerned Dr Lotsoff is not.

No place on here to put my name my name is Kathy Caulfield my phone number is [protected]

Desired outcome: Going to another doctor and if I find out that Lotsoff screwed something up while the colonoscopy a lawsuit will be filed

Mercy Medical Center Cosmetic Medicine & Surgery at Mercy - Dr.

On June 21st, 2021 I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Craig A. Vander Kolk for a Breast Reduction on November 30th. A week later, I received all the relevant paperwork that walked me through the procedure and payment options.

A few months after scheduling, I met with my Primary Care to discuss my scheduled surgery and find out what I needed to do prior to my surgery because communication with you office was very unprofessional. At that point I discovered with my Primary Care that there was no scheduled surgery on the Mercy system. At that point I emailed Dr. Kolk office and called several times. Finally, some called me back with much annoyance assuring me that my name was on the Dr. Volk's calendar and I had no reason to worry. I was also assured that insurance logistics and costs would be discussed a few weeks prior to surgery. After that conversation, I never received any follow-up and no one ever contacted my insurance. Very disappointed after all the work I had done preparing my insurance for the surgery.

I waited from June 21st to November 30th for this surgery to find out that it was in actuality never scheduled. Clearly this office thought my much needed surgery was a total waste of your time. The lack of follow up, replying to my emails or phone calls is very disappointing.

How can I get all of those months of waiting for a surgery that was never scheduled, and zero follow up? Honestly, your office made me feel like my body, time and money was a waste of your time.

A much frustrated patient.
