Online orders get bumped to back of the line
The app itself is okay, but the restaurant puts online orders at a low priority. Therefore DON’T USE THIS APP TO ORDER!
Online orders get kicked to the back of the line - it doesn’t matter how early you place your order. Until this place fixes their prioritization, always walk in.
Take it from me - a Dad who placed an order hours ahead of time who waited 90 minutes past the scheduled time to get my order. Very upset wife with kids at their wits end. It wasn’t out the door busy that day, just a steady stream of walk in orders that meant online orders never got to the head of the line.
I’m not likely to return to Mod even as a walk in as the experience left a bad impression on me.
My review
Burlington is amazing. Never had a bad experience, have been going there since they opened. I sometimes can’t access my history when ordering online, which is a bummer, especially when I am driving.
Anacortes is another story. I live in Anacortes and was so excited when they opened. Unfortunately, I try to avoid that store because there is 0 modness. Not friendly, they are 4/4 screwing up my online order. I feel like I am putting them out when I order something and they look like they would rather be anyplace but there. Manager is not professional, even in the relaxed mod way. She does not want to do the best she can to make the customers experience good, she passes that down to the people who work for her.
Revise Historic Order or Custom Item
Honestly I get frustrated so much sometime that I end up getting something else for dinner because I can take a previous order and modify it. Sometimes I want the same pizza, but modify a few items on the salad or pizza. Or maybe kids aren’t eating or wife isn’t eating so I want to take one specifically built kids pizza off or wife’s salad. Also within the same order, while ordering it would make the app so much better if you could clone an item in cart so you do to have to start from scratch for same pizza or salad but different size or same pizza but may different protein, same veggies. Trust me these changes would go a long way to enable more $$$ revenue by enabling more frictionless order customization and reuse.
Great updates but missing saved orders
I like the options available on this app for ordering visually, changing pick-up modes, applying promo codes and rewards, and saving payment options. It would earn five stars from me if it still included the “favorite orders” options from a previous iteration. My family is quite boring and we tend to order the same items each time. It’s such a nice time-saver to apply a favorite order as a base and then make changes as needed. Please consider bringing this back as an option in a future update.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes to order MOD and knows what they want. Such a pleasure to order in advance with a few taps, pay for it, earn rewards, and then walk past the line to pick up our pizzas on a Friday evening.
App is good but could be easily be much better
I love that it saves your order history making it easy to re-order. Since we’re a family of 5, we’re always ordering 5 pies or more if we have other kids or guests. One incredibly annoying flaw is that if any single ingredient on your recalled order is not available on the day you are ordering, it won’t let you order from the history. Why can’t you simply add a previous order and then modify each one as needed? C’mon. Second, when using a gift card, if the amount doesn’t cover the entire order, it won’t let you use it. This is just mind boggling. If I have a gift card with $30 but my order of >$30, it won’t apply the card and allow you to pay the remainder. These two issues drive me crazy. Please add some common sense to this app!
Garbage
The old app was clunky but worked. With this new one I can’t reorder an entire favorite order of 4 pizzas. It was more difficult to try to reorder at least one of the usual ones than to start the entire thing from scratch. I tried multiple times and multiple ways. I’m the end I would’ve saved time just going in person and waiting in line. This app is crap.
Updated 7/23. Can’t update my password so am locked out of my account now. It was supposed to auto save to my keychain and I reset it 5 x. Still didn’t work. It keeps saving my last password as the new username and then the new password as the new password. So essentially keeps changing my username. Piece of junk. App is now unusable. So frustrating! Should’ve left the app the way it was.
Needs more time in the oven
This app has been terrible since the latest redesign. The previous version was fairly bare-bones, but at least it worked. This new version is riddled with bugs and basic experiences are completely broken.
Most annoyingly, the app forgets my password CONSTANTLY. I feel like I’m logging in almost everyday. To make things worse, they block pasting in the password box, which is incredibly frustrating for anyone who uses a password manager.
The app also doesn’t invalidate notifications properly. No matter what you do in the app, it’s impossible to clear the badge count. Every notification increases the count forever, so I just resorted to turning off the badge for the app.
Just use the website until they actual test and fix this app; it’s garbage right now.
Mostly good
I really enjoy my pizza and appreciate their customer service and them having an app, but there are a couple flaws. These don’t ruin it, definitely not, but they make it less user-friendly. Number one, you can’t use multiple gift cards. You have to enter in your order and then manually enter in all 30 digits of the gift card. It should work more like Starbucks where you can pool giftcards into one card and then just charge that one. Also, instead of having to manually enter in every ingredient, you can click order history and order one of the pizzas that you got before. But if one of the ingredients has changed or they don’t have it at a certain location, then you can’t just quickly add it or cut that ingredient from the list, you have to physically re-enter all the information to build your own pizza.
PLEASE FIX
i like mod pizza & the mod pizza staff. However this app got to go. When the app was upgraded recently it’s now screwed up. i order from the same mods location & each time when placing an order it ask me for my location. This new app does not store my mods gift card “EACH TIME” i place an order it ask me for that long gift card number & pin. this annoys me can someone please fix ASAP Another issue… if i make 2 separate purchases the same day it will not let me scan for points until the next day — please fix this issue also
update i took a star away — i can’t log on to the app — it’s giving me error message. i tried changing my password 2 times & still won’t let me log in. App still logs me out all the time, & it does not hold my gift card info. i have to put 19 numbers + 8 more digits for the pin each time i place an order. PLEASE FIX —
WAS an ok app
The last version was clunky but functional. The newest update is trash. I’ve had multiple issues.
One, it shows badges on the app but there are no notifications within the app. I am anal about clearing badges so that’s a big one for me.
Two, all my favorite orders are gone, same account, points are still there, no favorites, so much for that crazy Mad Dog variant I liked so much.
Three, it freezes often require a force quit and reopen, and that means starting everything over, including login.
Four, you have to use Face ID or you are forced to manually login every time, security is good, but if someone snags my phone, the thief ordering themselves pizza is the least of my worries.
Five, just a small glitch, but when I choose delivery and search for my store it says delivery not available in your area, but if I go directly to my store on the app I can choose delivery.
Lazy
Conroe store is lazy. I ordered my pizza on the app and didn’t have any issues. I unintentionally showed up 5 mins early based on the time app instructed me the pizza would be ready. I was asked to be helped at the online order pick up and come to find out they haven’t even started the order yet. Now, keep in mind I ordered the pizza ten minutes earlier (not like I ordered in the parking lot and then walked in the store looking to complain), there weren’t any other online orders to make, there was no one at the counter ordering in store, there was one person cooking the pizzas in the oven, and there were three others standing around goofing off. I get stuff happens but the person who originally asked to help me never said a word to me after locating my ticket seeing the order hadn’t been started. No “sorry we are getting on it now.” No “give us a bit and we’ll have it ready.” No further communication of any kind. Thankfully I don’t have to come to this location regularly as I was just passing through.
Good app but account wipes????
I’ve been using this app for almost a year now and it’s fantastic. Great rewards and easy user interface.
The most recent update (I’m writing this on
3-31-22) apparently wiped my account? It won’t let me reset my password (it signed me out and then told me my password wasn’t correct even though it’s saved into my apple keychain so the email and pass is auto populated) ((Email was right))
and it took away all of my reward points (60 ish out of 150) and 2 free pizza rewards that I had yet to redeem. This update Wiped my order history, favorite orders, etc etc.
They need to roll out a fix for this because I’ve invested a lot of time and money into this place and for them to just take all of the rewards away and not even have a, "Contact Us" section or anything within the app itself to reach out to developers or someone that can do something is very disappointing. I’ve loved the app so far but if this can’t or won’t be fixed it just throws away all of my previous transactions and evidently it’ll all be in vain.
Order failed, but payment went through
First off, mod pizza itself is AWESOME. The employees are awesome and the food is awesome and the service is awesome.
So I open the app for the first time to place an order. No problems there, actually one of the better ordering experiences. The problem was with paying for the order. First off, it’s impossible to type in the exportation date since you can’t type a / because the keyboard is a number pad. (For anyone else having this issue, copy and paste it in) but the big problem was when I hit the pay button. The app said “credit card declined invalid billing address,” but I immediately got a notification from Apple wallet that my card was charged the EXACT amount as my mod pizza order.
So I go to the store annnnnd they didn’t get the order. Thankfully mod pizza employees are awesome and understood my situation and made the pizzas without charging me a second time.
The app fails to accomplish its purpose, ordering pizza.
Also they should just use Apple Pay, I’m sick and tired of having to give each restaurant app my credit card info each time I order since I don’t trust them to keep my credit card number secure.
Faulty App. Not recommended
I was super excited to try out this app and was left with disappointment. 1. Point accumulation doesn’t work. I only got the signin bonus points but the scan at the register never worked. I thought there was a lag on the app side but it still hasn’t shown up in 2 weeks. 2. Order doesn’t go through. Tried 3 times to order via app. Each time gave me an error after putting payment info so I had to go into the store physically to order pizza. When I was at the register, one of the 3 tried transaction went through. That’s about 20-30min lag on the app and shows how faulty the app is, just on getting transactions through. 3. Wrong payment. Now I’m checking my credit card history shows that I was charged twice for the pizza cuz apparently the app went through despite the errors. I now have to call my credit card company to dispute this claim. So much unnecessary stress and work on the customer’s side. I can’t believe such faulty app has went through submission and deemed ok for app release. Clearly, not enough functional testing was done on this app before the release. I highly not recommend you try this app. I am uninstalling this as I speak.
Much better
The Mod app was pretty problematic before and I’ve messaged the company a few times when I’ve had issues with it. Recent update has cured a lot of my ails. It’s not quite as intuitive as I’d like and I’ve encountered a few buggy things, but I love that if I want to edit something now, it still keeps my previous selections so I’m just adjusting and not totally rebuilding the pizza. I also don’t get errors where I can’t generate an order from history or favorites anymore if something is out of stock. It’s still a little buggy here where the same item isn’t always recognized, but at least now it just omits the items with problems not the whole order. Building an order for a family of 6 is really tedious and time consuming if you’re starting from scratch every time.
I don’t like how there’s some back and forth between food menu and app control menu and it’s cleared my order out on occasion when I’ve tried to adjust the location, but at least reordering from history works now so it’s not as big it a deal.
Appreciate that the devs are listening to feedback and making it more user friendly. We love the pizza and love that it’s much cleaner ingredients than your standard chain pizza places.
Extras and Special Instructions Character Limit
When selecting “add more”, customers are not given the option to add less or extra of the items already on the pizzas and salads. The only option is to select items that are not already on the pizza. When given the opportunity to add special instructions, the character limit is only 40. This impairs the customers ability to inform the staff of the full quantity of extras they would like if they have multiple extras to add. For instance, say the customer is ordering a super shroom pizza. In the special instructions, they would like to request extra mushrooms, mozzarella, spinach and cheese. This request exceeds the 40 character limit, cutting the customer off and infringing on the customers ability to request extra cheese. It would be great if in the food customization screen, not the special instructions screen, there was a list of extras and the ability to select more or less of the items on the pizzas and salads. Example: if a customer wants extra cheese, they would have a choice between three options: light, regular or extra. It would also be great to increase the character limit on the special instructions screen. What if a customer has multiple food allergies? They might be unable to inform the staff of all of their allergies if they exceed the 40 character limit. Otherwise, the app is fine. I would like to add, the staff at the Happy Valley, Oregon location are wonderful. So extra kudos to them.
Can’t stand this app
I have struggled with this app since the day it was introduced. The previous app while not perfect was more functional. Things that I find hard is for delivery it always asks me to type in my address every single time. On three occasions it auto filled with the wrong address delaying our order and creating confusion. It takes me forever to find my past orders and when I do if one or more ingredients are not available you cannot replace the order. You have to re-enter the order minus the missing ingredient. You would think it would just tell you the ingredient is missing and do you still want to submit the order vs not allowing it at all. Also when creating a new order it told me an ingredient was not available when I went to submit the order in the cart. So I edited the order, removed the ingredient and then it came right back and told me another different ingredient was unavailable. Why not tell me all the unavailable ingredients at once or better yet remove them as an option (which it normally does). Also when my order has been messed up like the wrong address (because of the issue above) it was so hard to find anything telling you who to call or how to resolve issues. Especially since the delivery is outsourced to a third party. Also using the rewards can be confusing. Especially knowing if you have to select them before you order or apply them later when your cart is formed. Lastly sometimes I have worked hard to create an order and hit submit only to have the whole order lost and be bounced back to the main menu. This happens if you decide to switch form delivery to pick up or vice versa. Overall terrible experience and I only use it for the rewards part.

On 10/2/23 I went in to order a Mod Salad. I asked for spicy chicken and got raw sausage instead. In addition, I asked for mushrooms and got some that smelled brown. I asked for them to be removed and give me the fresh ones on the other side that were still white. I told the manager and staff that they need to be very careful with mushrooms. They do not want people sick from food.

The least honest of all my food apps
I enjoy the product but find the inability to download multiple receipts dishonest.
I go in with my kids order pizzas and drinks. Before I go the kids may want a shake or another pizza to take home. If rung on separate tickets because the orders are at different times the app doesn’t allow all the receipts to be downloaded.
We have even had my kids friends join us and I pay when they come and I can’t download those either.
Mod pizza is not cheap but this app limitation is. The rewards also expire which is also dishonest in my opinion.
Love the restaurant hate the app
My family and I love MOD pizza! It’s one of our favorite places to go. Can’t beat the fresh ingredients, artisan style crust, delicious drinks and it’s well priced. The app on the other hand is awful! It kicks me out and makes me sign in every time. Every time I have to re-do my password because it doesn’t recognize it, even thought it’s the same password I always use on this app. Then I have to go through the registration process all over Re authenticating my e-mail and so on. Finally I get back in and all of my points are gone. Super frustrating!
Charged my card when order didn’t go through
I will never use the app again. I placed an order and it said it didn’t go through, but got a message from my credit card company that I was charged. I called my local store and they said they didn’t get the order and couldn’t take my order to make it up even though I was charged. They said this just happened to someone else and they didn’t know what was going on with the app. If it isn’t resolved, I won’t even eat at Mod Pizza ever again. I got sick after eating takeout from them once and tried to give them another chance, but now they have two strikes against them.
I logged into my online account with mods pizza and paid using my debit card. I received an error message saying the charge didn’t go through but two debits for $22.80 came off of my card. I called the store and was told it’s no transactions that came through on their end. I immediately locked my card and reported fraud. I will never order on mods pizza app, I deleted it.
Does not save credit card info nor add rewards points
This app would be 4 or 5 stars because of convenience, except it just isn’t.
Saves my recent orders, but doesn’t respect the “save credit card?” Question which is already preselected. What?
Says there’s a rewards scheme, but you don’t automatically get rewards points for online ordering, and the receipts you get from the online order don’t have a barcode to scan. What?
Fix those two issues, and corporate, make sure your franchises KNOW this app exists and maybe I’d change my tune. I love Mod, I’d go there every day, but god this app is stupid for such simple things.
Not ready for prime time. wasted my life
If you like MOD Pizza, go into the store. I ordered online, the app told me that my order had not gone through, so I pushed submit again. It charged me twice, so I figured I would address when I picked up 20 minutes later. Went to the store for pick up and... they did not have my order. So now I’ve been charged twice for an order which I didn’t receive and have to pay for again at the store. Why? Because the local store cannot address anything that’s done online, including charges that I can prove went through. Tech is ridiculous and just wasted a lot of my time.
Actually takes longer if you use the app
Like other small chain apps I’ve used in the past, the communication between the app and the store is anything but real time. We decided to use the app so we could order and my wife could pick it up on the way home. Ordered at 6:32. Said it would be ready at 6:52. She arrived at 6:45 and inquired “we’re working on it” as she stood there, a dozen people came in, ordered and received their pizza. Her name was finally called at 7:10, which means, they didn’t even actually queue the order until after she arrived and asked about it. Don’t waste your time, just go stand in line.
Issues with customization
This was my first time ordering with the app and I didn’t get a good first impression. I ordered the Dillon James but made a few customizations (I added pepperoni and the balsamic glaze). From the restaurant’s end, it looked like I ordered a pizza with only pepperoni and the balsamic glaze, so that’s how they made my pizza. Unfortunately it was delivered to me so there wasn’t much I could do.
Also the app gave me an error when I tried redeeming a reward but it still charged my card. I had to submit my order again to get it to go through so I ended up getting double charged.
Password reset broken
I can’t log in. I get the
“Success
You will receive an email with instructions about how to reset your password in a few minutes”
But the emails never come. I used the same email they send all their promotional emails to.
I don’t want to start over with a new account because I have a nice accumulation of points and would like to keep all the points in the same account
I like the app, once I can get in, as it does everything that a pizza ordering app should do.
If someone will reach out to me and give me tech support contact so we can fix this problem I will be happy to adjust my rating
Reviewing the ordering process and
The app.
Credit card scanner does not work. I let all the outer bold lines surround the card and it won’t take a picture. Card is Citi bank double cash.
The ordering process needs one improvement. Add a ‘ASAP’ option for ordering as opposed to choosing a time. I was ordering a pizza at 11:28 and because the credit card scanner wasn’t working, I didn’t get my payment info in until 11:31. At that point, it forced me to use noon as the earliest order time. 30 mins? I can just go in and order it and it’ll go quicker.
Other restaurants/fast food places offer an ASAP option. Please add!
Thanks
They need to fix this - it is 2020 after all!
I’ve been trying to add a debit card or a credit card to my account, but each time it tells me the card is declined. I’ve tried creating a new account, I’ve tried through their website, same problem. Tonight, even though the app told me my credit card was declined, I got a notification from my credit card company that the charge went through. I went to the store and there was no order. The guy that helped me though was good enough to make me a pizza though. A week or so ago I contacted Mod’s customer support and they blew me off. I wonder how many other people have had the same problem, got frustrated and went somewhere else.
App Needs Work
Employees at Mod can’t see special instructions. My orders are wrong 50% of the time. Also, there is no way to cancel an order through the app.
***UPDATE***
This app is still garbage. I just tried to pay for my order partially with my remainder gift card balance. Because this app was designed by app flunkies, i could not pay a split bill.
Also, my orders are still wrong 50% of the time. The other day, I watched employee leave pie spatula under the pizza while it cooked. It caused crust to stick to spatula, eventually breaking crust apart. Getting tired of tipping for employee incompetence, but that seems to be the Mod Pizza norm.
Great pizza. World’s WORST APP!
This review is waaaaay overdue. I’ve tried using it more that a dozen times since the first and only time it’s worked; After that, nothing! Just black screen. Every. Single. Time. Regardless of internet connection/cell reception, you’re in their store or at home, using a different phone. Like other reviewers have said: only works the first time; or if you’re lucky, a second time. After that, it’s just black screen! And the sad thing is, as nice everyone in the store is, all they can say is “I have no idea”. To the developer/corporate: If you are abandoning this app or in the process of updating it, at the very least, let your stores know.
MOD APP 2.0
If I could give this zero stars I would ...I don’t I even know where to start. While using the app it looks like it belongs to the very first iPhone produced, its elementary, basic and it doesn’t even fill the whole iPhone screen like 1.0. I can no longer create a favorite pizza to save on file so now I have to build the pizza each time. I can no longer view my order history and there is an annoying notification bubble but no message and no notification. I did verify that 2.0 is compatible with my iOS currently on my phone and it is...I have also deleted and reinstalled the app and nothing changed. Something is terribly wrong and it needs to be fixed STAT!
Why did they ruin this app? I just wanted pizza
All I want is to order pizza!
The old app was fine, nothing special but it did the job and never once did I have an issue. Its just pizza, bells and whistles are not needed.
The new app is full of bugs, has a very clunky ux and seems determined to log me out constantly. Its only improvement is to make tipping easier, otherwise its every feature is worse than before even without the bugs. Oh and they deleted all the order history and favourites.
I’ve used it twice bc I promised the kid pizza, managed eventually to place the order but regretted it both times. So I made an account with another pizza company. Might need to give these guys awhile to fix this.
Badge App Notification Icon
The notification badge will not go away since the last update. Rating would be higher if this wasn’t broken.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
