National Tire & Battery [NTB] do not trust this store

I have gone to ntb in san antonio several times in the past and have been pleased with the results and service. I always felt that I was being treated fairly and was getting a fair deal.

I recently had to deal with an ntb in autsin, however, and have come away with just the opposite feeling. My son's car had some problems and he took it in. The quote he received on the repairs for it cost twice as much as we paid for the car over a year ago. My son didn't have that much money or that high of a credit limit as he is still a student. He called me and I was put in touch with the store in austin [protected]). Even though we said we wanted this to be as inexpensive as possible, they kept pushing more expensive tires and other items on us (The lower priced tire was "not recommended" by the salesman — why are you selling it if you wouldn't recommend it?). After I called to give my credit card number I received a call back stating the quote we had received was incorrect — I was told a "computer error" had been made and it would cost more than orignally quoted — this seems suspicious. I okay'd this and soon got another call about other things. The price kept going up. I came away feeling like we are being taken advantage of and we were not getting the full story. I simply don't trust this store.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] no response to my email

Dear Sirs/Madam:
I have had a terrible experience at Highway 6 Houston store address is 6755 High way six south 77083 phone number [protected].
Befor I begin let me write few things down un fortunately from this world the good quality of human beings are going away rapidly due to over population namely: Morals, Ethics, Character, Honesty, Integrity, Values, Faithfulness, Simplicity, Loyalty and the list goes on. For me being odd and Libra born are very Important and i value and respect people with these Qualities.
Now to the story true one: I bought Eight tyres for my Two vehicles around 2007 from your Store in Paltine, I used to live down there a year ago, I belonged to land of Lincoln for 20 years and I am a Naturalized us citizen. I have been working as Electronics Technician since my graduation as BSEET since 1990.
Every six months i get my wheel balancing and rotation done along with my life time wheel aligment form Firestone.
This particular shop i visited around December 2008 for my regular six monthly Wheel Balancing and Tyre rotation ended up telling me like my CV boot has torn ( I am sorry to say I am bit paranoid at this point since it can be torn by blade by person attending the vehicle to get more business a bad business practice, i do not know the truth, I am just imlying that it can be done easily since i was not there to see it when he took it up)
Being important i asked them to replace the cv joint rod assembly as per thier sugesstion now that is where the trouble started for me indirectly since it took almost 5 months to find out since my wife drives that vehicle and not me, it ended me make replace ball bearing for that wheel at Firestone and They had to redo it again since the bearing them put on failed within weeks time at this point they found out that the part replace at this store was not to Honda Civic 19888 specification, I feel sorry for the US indirectly since being in the us I end up buying the Japanes vehicle and we us people cannot even fix it right the very first time.
I have had Firestone replace the joint agian (CV boot rod) and the bearing It has been more than a month and I have not seen the problem i have had meaning the fix is good.
This trip to NTB for balncing and Tyre Rotation has cost me $600 of which $300 is questionalble since I do not know if the boot was torn to begin with. The only good thing is the manager refunded me for the amount of $314.51 for the CV joint bood and rod assembly they have had replace to being with. But what about the cost I have to incur to get the bearing replaced it cost me about $300 dollars from Fireston Customer invoice 117749 4/11/2009 shop Dairy Ashford 2910 Houston, Texas 77082.
I request to you folks to pay me the amount it cost me to replace the bearing on my vehicle. Since NTB is supposed to be a good company and I do not want a red flag on its name, and spoil the repuatation. I do not to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau, or NBC news etc.
Being Libra I will see to it that I do not do any injustice to any one including myself or at least fight for it. Un fortunatley it is all the more important for me since I got a House in Houston in December and I lost my Job April this year, I earnetly request to you plese spare me from kind of injustice that happened with me at the hands of a US COMPANY THAT DID NOT MEET THE HONDA SPECIFICATIONS. National Tire & Battery [NTB] brake job caused accident

After Hurricane Ike hit in Texas, National Tire and Battery advertised free check-ups for single moms to see if damaged from hurricane. The shop guys were nice and checked my tires. Next I went in to check my brakes and get an estimate. My battery was bad so I had them replace it. The next day after money came from fema I took my car back in for brake repair. Two days later on the way home from college in Houston there was bumper to bumper traffic. I was going only 25 mph when a lady in front of me slammed on her brakes and stopped completely. I tapped my brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor. I hit her in the rear and caused 2 scratches on her bumper. Because her damage was so small, I allowed my insurance company to fix her car. I took my car back into NTB to complain about the brake job. The assisstant manager was on duty and when the guys in the shop pulled off the tire he came and got me to show me the brake line was dryrotted and leaking brake fluid. He told me they must not have bled the brake lines b/c if they had the lines would have busted right away. He admitted it was their fault and they would replace the brake lines and rebleed them. There was damage to the front end of the car. I called the manager Jason b/c he was the one there when the original work was done. He refused to help me concerning the damage to my car which is 20 years old. I asked him if he could please just call around find some parts at a junk yard and fix my car or give me my money back for the brake repairs. He gave me the corp. phone number which I called and they told me they would fix the situation. The repairs & accident happened Oct 2008 and Jason the manager did not do the paperwork until January 2009. Now I found out that the asst manager was fired. He was the only one that was truthful and is the only one that was fired. Now it has been 7 months and they are just now denying the claim. Gallagher-Basset and Jennifer, the agent have lied and given me the runaround. In the meantime I went w/o a car for 4 months. I was very ill for 8 weeks during this process which is why I let it go on so long. I am now trying to hire an attorney to take the case. I am a single mom of 2 adult blind children. If I don't have transportation then neither do they.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] fraudulant conduct on tire rotation

I brought my PT cruiser in for a punctured tire this morning. The tire in question is the Right rear tire. I showed the desk technician who incorrectly wrote the LEFT rear tire. This would not have been a problem, The problem arises as I also payed for a Tire Rotation. When I returned to pick up my vehicle 3 hours later, I find that the RIGHT Rear tire is STILL punctured and low on air. I confronted the manager who assured me that a tire rotation was Completed despite the fact that the right rear tire, the punctured tire, was still located on the right rear of the vehicle. I guess they rotated the tires so many times that the tires ended up exactly where they began... I payed for a tire rotation and did not receive it, the manager offered to repair the puncture for free (which they should have done in the first place) but refused to rotate the tires, insisting it was completed. Needless to say I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and consulted the County Police Department.

I paid $525 for a new set of tires about 9 months ago. The salesman told me I had free tire rotation for life. Today I went back and another salesman told me LIFETIME TIRE ROTATION is an option and was not on my reciept...if I had selected it there would be an additonal charge on there. So, I went home and looked on their website...and it says on the first tire page FREE ROTATION FOR LIFE. This will be my last visit there. In the past I also bought another set of tires and a battery. No more.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] ntb credit card

I bought four tires from an NTB store and applied for their credit card. I got approved for the card and used it because it was no interst for 12 months. I sent out a payment at the end of december for my january payment and they didn't process it til febuary and then i sent a payment the last week of febuary for march and they took it out before march.oh yeah and they seem to have gotten my febuary payment on time out of all this ###. so i basically paid them 3 times in one month for their screwup. well what they did was they sent a thing to my credit report saying i was 30 days late and drilled my credit score because of their laziness. i called them up and asked questions and they said its not their fault. i am writing this to warn all you people out there about there ###. this has also happened to a friend of mine as well and he was told the same thing so needless to say i got it with a late fee and interst. PLEASE BEWARE. NTB is great service i always do my business there but i will never use the card again for anything at all.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] ruined my car!

Yesterday morning I brought my car to NTB (National Tire & Battery) on 114 in Danvers. I went in and had asked for 2 tires to be replaced on my car. While in the process of waiting for my car to be finished, the sales associate cam up to me and explained that their mechanic decided to pop the hood of my car and thought that I may have antifreeze leaking out... The sales associate then reassured me that they topped it off with antifreeze as a courtesy to me. I explained to Bruce that I have had much work done to the car and had it looked over several times previous to me bringing it in and not one mechanic has ever told me i have had a leak.

While driving home from NTB, my car started over heating (which it has never done in the 4 years I have owneed it) After having a friend look under my hood, she said my radiator cap wasnt even on properly ... there was anti freeze all over my car.

Early this morning I called NTB in Danvers and asked to speak to the manager. I explained to him that I never authorized their mechanic to go under the hood and touch my radiator and explained how I couldnt drive my car because it kept over heating. After giving me a hard time about "Liability policies", the manager told me to come down and he would give me some antifreeze to fill my car up with and that would be fine.

While picking up the anti freeze from NTB, I also decidedto call the Area Director of NTB to alert him that his mechanic foolishly never put on the cap to my radiator and after speaking to the manager Al, he gave me such a hard time and wouldnt even apologize. The area director apologized several times and assured me that all i had to do was put antifreeze into my car and it would be fine.

I followed their instruction and put the antifreeze in my car... and after driving my car for a few minutes it started to over heat once more (again this has never happpened in the 4 years of owning the car) I made my way to a mechanic and had them look at my car.

The local Mechanic told me that due to the antifreeze cap not being on properly and it spilling all in my car.. the radiator was shot and my thermostat blew.. He told me it need to be replaced and i was not going to be able to drive it at all without ruining the motor of my car! I was furious.. I called back to AD of NTB and explained to him that because his mechanic touch my radiator, which i never asked or paid for, my radiator and thermostat were trash!

The AD started being very rude on the phone telling me he was not liable, and that it wasnt believable. I asked for his manager's number and i explained to him that I would go to my insurance and small claims court if i had to, but I was not going to pay for a problem that they created!

I spoke to the senior executive of NTb, I introduced myself and explained to him the situation and how both his AD and manager of NTB were throwing policy and procedures in my face, also how I never authorized them to touch my radiator and they only told me about it after they done the work.., . Mr. Balash promised to return my phone call . So far he has not.

Im paying in both time and money for a problem they created and all i get from NTB is "We're NOT Liable"

I am completely neutral on this, so I will give my unbiased opinion. You never stated what year, make or model your car was.Was the cap left off the overflow or radiator? Also it is true you should not drive your car when it overheats. It can cause internal damage to the engine. Warped heads or blown head gaskets. In the ten years I have been working on vehicles I have NEVER heard of or came across the problem where it ruin the radiator, unless it had damage already. And certainly not where it would cause your thermostat to go bad. However it is recommended that you change your thermostat when you replace your radiator. I know this is a little over a year old post, but get a second opinion next time. Sounds like your mechanic wants a little extra money. Again I do not know the year, make, and model.Older cars, as in pre 1990, would be more prone to bad radiators if something like that would happen. Most places, even for oil changes, check all fluids as they say a courtesy. Really they look for things that need to be changed which increase their sales.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] messed up oil change/ check engine light on after leaving this joint!

This place sucks! I took my expedition here to get an oil change only because I was being too cheap to take it to the dealership, it was a toss up between paying $24 or $45.

I took my truck in on friday, on my way home I heard a thump as I turned the corner (I was only a few blocks away). I thought maybe I hit a hole or something so I left it alone and didn't think anything else about it.

That evening I drove my car into the city and as I accelerate to get on the e-way the car would hesitate, slowly getting into the lane. Finally it stops - picks up speed and back to normal (so I thought).

Silly me after all of those signs I take my expedition to wi for a family trip. My mother is driving and she comments on how different the truck feels. This crazyness is going on all weekend. Sunday on the way home the "check engine" light came on (this has never happened before) we were affraid to drive back but had to.

Monday I take the truck back to ntb, explain the situtation to them and they look at me like... Duh what? Duh.. Fix my car! (Thats not what I was saying in my head) I watched them walk around the truck, lift it up, play with my tires and walk away. He had the nerve to come back and tell me that they don't what's wrong with it - but the oil change work was done correctly. If I want them to inspect it any futher than that, I would have to pay. Oh my goodness... I was about to blow my freak'n top but my kids were standing there beside me. He acted like he didn't want to answer my questions. Like I was bothering him and I am the one with a messed up car. What! Time to write to the bbb.

He didn't care and the manager didn't care. It's all about the $.

You really get what you pay for (In this case less)- I regret not going to the dealer in the first place - now I have to go anyway and spend more money.

Stay away from these jerks - they will screw up your car!

Rip off place. They list all the things you don't need as service items. They told me I needed struts-- that was about 3 years ago and I still have good struts. If you want to spend money for stuff you don't need-- go to Ntb in bolingbrook.
They also said I needed front brakes, and I tolok it to another repair shop and they told me I needed back brakes.
That was pretty funny-- I took the car to another shop 20 minutes apart from my NTB visit.
I will never go to this hack place. The brakes needed were in the rear. If you suspect anything wrong with your car-- you can bet there will be! Be prepared to pay outrageous charges. Oh, at disposal fees--- nice markup--- what a complete rip-off NTB.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] damaged air filter results in expensive repairs

I am writing to file a compliant the NTB store located at 13171 Northwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77040. My husband and I own a 2006 F-150 (with relatively low mileage) that my husband regularly has serviced at the previous mentioned location. On December 15, 2008, my husband took his truck to have the oil changed and the vehicle serviced. The DAY AFTER my husband got his oil changed the check engine light came on and then went off. This happened a few times until this Saturday, January 17, 2009 when the check engine came on and then stayed on. I took my husband's truck to a Ford dealership on January 19, 2009 to run a diagnostic check on the vehicle. We found out from the service department at the dealership that the air filter inside the vehicle fell apart and damaged the air filtration system in the truck. My husband had only driven 500 miles since the oil change on December 15, 2008 so it’s unusual that the air filter fell apart so quickly after the oil change when the air filter was supposed to have been checked in during the oil change as part of NTB’s “preventative maintenance check” according to its website. NTB’s website also guarantees customer satisfaction with the products and services it provides. I do not feel that my expectations have been met at this time.

After diagnosing the problem on my husband’s F-150, the Ford dealership said that we speak with NTB about the air filter and sharing the cost of the repairs. My husband went to the above mentioned location to talk about the problem with the location manager, Lorenzo Bahena on January 20, 2008, and he found out that the guy that had completed the last oil change on his truck had been fired. He was also never told by this individual that the air filter was damaged or needed to be replaced, but we started having problems the DAY AFTER the oil change. I believe that the former employee damage this air filter during his “preventative maintenance” check. I spoke with Lorenzo Bahena after I filed a formal compliant with NTB. He told me there was nothing he could do about the damage since it was not NTB’s air filter despite the fact the truck started having problems on December 16, 2008 the day after my husband’s truck was serviced at his store location.

My husband and I paid the Ford service center $627.26 for the damage that was caused to his air filtration system. I think NTB should have to cover this cost since we did not have any problems with the truck prior to having it service at NTB.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] scam

The NTB here in Blue Springs, MO (just outside Kansas City) just attempted to scam me. I took it in for four new Michelin tires and foolishly took them up on a free alignment check. Not surprisingly, they said that my alignment was off and I needed a $100+ alignment service, or my new tires would likely not wear correctly (of course voiding any type of warranty). Oddly enough, the tires that were just removed had no unusual wear after 52, 000 miles and the car never drove with any indication of alignment problems. To top off this visit from hell, I watched as the tech "road tested" my vehicle like he was qualifying for NASCAR, after he literally beat the rims off the car. Complaining to the manager would have been fruitless since he was the one running the alignment scam. This is just another example of why modern American business will continue to fail in the long run.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] I feel scammed

On Feb.14, 2008 I purchased 4 new 20" tires along with road
hazard for my 03 Dodge pickup. I also bought the 3 year
alignment. The counter man told me to bring it in every 6
months for alignment and rotation. So i came in August 14.
We discovered the two front tires were showing cords and
the service guy said i probably wouldn't get another week
before they blew, and i should buy two more tires now before
i got stranded. I was dumbfounded at this point, since they
were only 6 months old. I spoke to the manager and made my
argument that new tires should get a couple years and at the
very least my road hazard should cover this problem. He of
course disagreed with my logic and insisted its not their fault
and the best he could do was give me a discount for two new
tires. Well these two tires somehow cost the same as the originals
I was not happy with the outcome, but was forced to comply
because i agreed i would blow both tires within the next or two.
He also told me i could bring my truck in as often as i wanted,
which was contrary to what i was told in feb. The six months
was just enough to wear them down to cords. Its almost as
though they had the time frame down just right. I then took my truck to my mechanic and he said they had my alignment,
he called it toed in, to wear the insides out to coincide with
my recommended service visit. I will not use this company
again and may not go back for the balance of my service
contract. I hope this letter will aid folks in being cautious when
dealing with these folks.

most ntb CUSTOMERS suck [censor]... I personally try my damndest to get people to understand that bad service can happen in even the best shop on a crappy day. Working on cars is one of the most misunderstood and suckiest jobs around today and I completely agree that service has declined and that it is cut-throat. WE have to put up with customers that have a vending machine mentality and think that they can simply put their money in and out it comes... NO service facility can simply survive on oil changes (and most people think that purchasing them is loyal business) when infact it is a major inconvenience at best.

The bottom line is that it takes REAL money and REAL customers (meaning that they have REAL expectations and the patience to wait or leave their cars if need be) to be able to provide quality service. This also means that they have to be willing to pay a reasonable price as well... This price pays for equipment and MORE importantly the PROPER training of these much hated employees that SUCK so much [censor]. This is the real problem with nearly all shops (even dealerships) who in my opinion are no better because I correct their mistakes too...

They insist I need the same ### shocks installed on the back for another $600

Fortunately I paid using the NTB credit card, so I can just throw that bill away when it comes in.

HA!

Yes NTB sucks! I went by there 3 times to have them check my tires for air, (something that would've taken so quick) and all 3 times when I walked in nobody greeted me and ignored the fact that I was even there . I finally got fed up after waiting and just left yet, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured maybe they were just extremely busy that day but only to return 2 other times to have the same thing happen all over again. So I just decided to take my car to Discount Tire across the street and it took less than 10 minutes for them to put air in my tires. I wont be going to NTB again!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] rip-off diagnostic

I visited an ntb dealer for an oil change and watched as the tech went around the vehicle for a diagnostic evaluation. After five minutes he came back and told me I needed new brakes all around and it would cost over $300.00.
I told him to change the oil and I would come back for the brake job later.
The next day I went to sears and told them I needed brakes. After 20 minutes or so the sears mechanic asked me why I thought I needed brakes. I told him someone had checked them and told me I needed new brakes. The sears mechanic showed me the brakes and that they had over 60% pad left and that they were wearing evenly. He said I did not need new brakes.
I went back to ntb and talked to the manager who in turn got the mechanic. The mechanic told me he had calibrated the brakes and that they were in need of replacement. I told him that he couldn't have calibrated the brakes since he never even took the tires off. I told the manager I would never be back.
After e-mailing ntb and received a call back from the regional manager. He was very apologetic and asked me to be patient and that he would reimbursement ober $70.00 for my sears bill for doing a proper brake evaluation since I would have never had a brake inspection if not for ntb's mechanic. He also promised me coupons for free oil changes. I did get the coupons but never got any money back.
A few years prior to this incident, the same ntb claimed I needed a front-end alignment which I had checked by my chevy dealership. They said my front-end was fine. I only went back to ntb because I thought that after 2 years they had straightened their vineland store out. Unfortunately, I am beginning to see a pattern of false diagnostic work and fraudulent activity.
I am writing a letter to the bbb and the nj state attorney generals office.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] bad service

Took my car to NTB for an oil change and a tire rotation. On a side note, I've been told before by an NTB worker that you specifically have to ask for them to check your tire pressure, or else they won't do it. This time I knew I was out of windshield wiper fluid, so when I went in for my oil change I asked specifically if they check the windshield fluid. The worker said "yes" with no elaboration. This morning, two days later, I just realized I am still out of windshield wiper fluid. I called NTB and asked what the deal was, the worker said it costs extra and that they might have checked it, but they don't fill it up for free. I feel like I play this run-around game every time I am in their store and will not go back for any more oil changes. When I was there for my oil change, they also tried to sell me an alignment for 79.00, I said no, and then the worker said "Well, how about 59.00?" Why the games? Do you think your customers are stupid, NTB? Please quit treating them that way.

On May 24, 2012 I arrive at 6:30pm at the NTB on 20211 Katy Freeway Katy TX 77450 to get new tires and a oil change for my Saturn. I waited for 4 hours be to get the tires in my car since they were missing one. I was really patient even though it was 10:30pm when they finish with my car. The next morning I get on Katy Freeway to go to work when my car suddenly stared shaking like crazy. I stop at the NTB by Wilcrest and I-10 to find out that one of the tires was not balance and to find out that my oil was never change. I have contact the corporate office several times but they refuse to respond to my phone calls back. I spoke to the store manager but he didn't seem concern and never apologize for the inconvenience. Please don't ever go to the NTB on 20211 Katy Freeway they have no costumer service.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] they caused my accident

In May of 2008 I brought my 1999 Mazda 626 to National Tire and Battery (who is affiliated with TBC Corporation) to have front left and right axles replaced as well as the front right wheel bearing replaced. In June of 2008 I noticed a humming noise coming from somewhere in the front end of my car. After taking the vehicle to be looked at, the mechanic told me that my wheel bearing needed replaced. Since I just had it replaced a month prior at National Tire and Battery I took it back to them to have it looked at. They agreed that the bearing had already become faulty and they replaced it for free. The following day when I picked the vehicle up I drove out of the parking lot and still heard the same noise so I took it back to the shop to inform them of the issue. This time they told me that they had to replace the bearing again, as well as order a “hop” (which I now believe to be a “hub”) assembly. They told me to bring my vehicle back on the following Monday to have this work done.

On the way home my car entered a skid on the interstate and caused me to crash into the median dividers. After speaking with a mechanic I was informed that it was very possible that they wheel bearing was not packed correctly and it had locked up my front right wheel, causing the accident. I informed National Tire and Battery’s Corporate office of this via email. I was called the following day by Dave Zolnowski and told that they had turned over the issue to their insurance company Gallagher Bassett. Gallagher Bassett eventually sent out an appraiser to look at my vehicle. After waiting for a week, I was finally able to get in touch with Anita (an insurance adjuster for Gallagher Bassett). She informed me that the appraiser’s opinion is that the work done on my car by National Tire and Battery had nothing to do with my accident. I was not surprised because insurance companies are infamous for wrongly denying claims.

I contacted National Tire and Battery Headquarters again to inform them of the decision made by their insurance company and express my displeasure with the decision. I was then contacted within an hour of sending the email by the District Manager of National Tire and Battery who only referred to himself as Tim. He told me to an auto body shop come to do an estimate on my vehicle. So I thought great, they obviously know that they’re employees were negligent in sending me home with a car that they knew was not safe to drive. After getting the estimate and having it faxed over to Tim I was contacted by him the following Monday and told that they were standing behind their insurance company and not admitting any responsibility in the accident. Therefore, National Tire and Battery and Gallagher Bassett had wasted 3 weeks of my time, caused me to miss work to meet with their insurance appraiser and the local auto body shop to get estimates done, and I am still left without a vehicle. I hope that you consider this story before deciding to do business with National Tire and Battery. They obviously are not willing to admit fault when they are wrong, and fix their mistakes. I would suspect that I am not the only consumer who has fallen prey to this company either.

Then I went to the Goodyear store for an alignment on referral from the dealer and in support of a store patron.
They charged my Son for doing nothing. When I called back about it . He said it was an inspection fee, even though the service was supposed to be free!? I asked him why would he send someone out with a car swerving all over the road like that? They told my son he can come back with more money again than the quoted price to complete the deal? EXTORTION!

I had the same experience with the free inspection I went in for.. I spun out, right in front of the police when I came out of the store on 280. The Police did not say a word. They just stop you late at night to get you out of the car on a dui suspicion! I went into the Oxmoor Rd. store and paid, $100 for a alignment. I got no paperwork, receipt. Instead the person waiting on us, held our car until last and tried to send my son home without me in the car. When I waited by the register; he chaged me $100 for no repairs, gave me no change or paperwork.. When I reported it to Tim the so -called District Mgr. He tried to charge me again!
I believe the mechanics also later broke into my house and stole our spares; when we refused to buy new tires, because we had them. They also stole my Son's checkbook and other documents from the glove box. They damaged a light and pulled wires out from under the dash to cause problems with the lights.
THEY ARE DEMONIC!

On 11/05/11 I had NTB # 583 swap summer tires Dunlop 235/45 r17 on my Subaru Impreza 2011 for all season Nokian tires. Before I came to the NTB shop I didn’t have tire sensor indicator on for about 3 weeks. Everything looked normal. Having taken old tires from the rims the technician claimed that at least one pressure sensor was broken. Store manager Omar H. made me sign a statement that I am aware that TPMS monitors were already broken despite the fact that there were no indication of it.

After installation of new tires is done and having driven a car for about a minute the tire pressure indicator went on and permanently remains on. I drove back to the shop and complained that the light wasn’t on when I came to the shop. Omar rejected any wrongdoing on the shop side and refused to fix. Also I consider it more important for safety to have winter compatible tires at this time than working tire pressure sensor, the whole situation is embarrassing: before I brought the car to this shop I had summer tires with a proof (around 3 weeks ago) of working pressure sensors. After the tire replacement I have (at least one) broken sensor and light indicator permanently on on my new car. This made me really unhappy.

After 30 years of trading with NTB I'm finding another shop. At 120, 000 miles NTB suggested it was time for new struts and shocks. Less then 12 months and 6, 000 miles they now tell me the shocks and one strut is defective and they must be replaced. I suspect that NTB deliberately purchases the cheapest replacement parts and tires knowing that you will either trade you car before the replacement fails, or you will pay them to replace the defected parts. This is similar to the tires I put on my daughters car. One tire failed (sidewall defect) after 3, 000 miles, they charged me $80.00 to replace the defective tire. It was explained as pro-rated tire wear, new balancing, installation, and repair warranty.

I went to NTB on 1/16/10 for an oil change. For the third consecutive time they put 5/30 weight oil in my vehicle. This vehicle calls for 10/40 weight oil.they put the same 5/30 weight oil in my 2001 Lincoln Townar, which calls for 50 weight oil. This seems to be their practice to put lighter - less expensive oil in their customer's vehicles. As usual they reccomended additional service. This time it was A loose belt on the power steering pump, which I declined. When I started the car the next morning it was smoking and leaking power steering fluid. When I checked under the hood I discovered that the top of the pump was broken and it's contents had broken off inside of the pump and clogged up the regular flow of fluid. When I went back and complained about this and other incidents of poor/fraudulent service the manager told me to leave and take my complaint to corprate.I refused to leave until he checked out my complaint.During this process he continued to be rude and threatning. At one point he had the mechanic, who worked on my car, get in my face telling me how he did not take the cap off and how he did not apreciate me calling him A lie.I never called him A liar, I simply stated that someone did.I felt very threatend and and I felt this was extremely unprofessional. The manager kept telling me how simple this problem was and apologizing for A prior incident. However simple he might have thought it was, it was not simple to me at all. This vehicle is A vintage 1976-MonteCarlo - mint condition -with only 32, 600 miles. It's not simple when all I wanted was an oil change. So I left feeling threatend, cheated, disrespected and very unsatisfied! Before I could get home, the manager had called. When I returned his call he informed me that he would get me A new pump, however I would have to take it some place else to have it installed. And that since I was not satisfied with their service to take all my vehicles(four)someplace else. That was rude and very unprofessional. After ruining A vintage automoble, I did not need him to tell me to take my buisness else where.I need national tire & battery to replace the 5/30 with with the factory required oil.I need National Tire & Battery to pay for the installation of the new pump.I need National Tire & Battery at 4453 Southwest Highway to stop deceptive & fraudelent practices.A prior incident I referred to earlier was-I went their for warrentee work. When the work was completed the mechanic returned my van keys to me, however the staff never called me to the counter to check out, so after about fifteen minutes I left, since the work was warrenteed and I didn't owe any money. This was around 10:00am..Later that evening about 5:00p.m. this same manager called my home and told me that my vehicle was ready to pick up.The call woke me up so I just said ok.Ten minutes later he called me back and said that I needed new shocks all around the vehicle. The problem with this was that only one month prior I had this very same location install all new shocks, springs and all ball joints, at A cost of over 1, 000.00 dollars. His explanation that his reccomondation was based on milage was totally unacceptable because my van had to be on A lift to do the work(which I think was a wheel alignment)so the shocks would have been visable to the mechanic.Second-he never inspected my vehicle that morning becaused I watched the mechanic work through the window in the waiting room and he never aproached my vehicle!Third-I feel that if if he were going by milage and looking at his computer he would have seen that they had installed new shocks just one month prior. He had to be looking at the computer because my vehicle was no longer there. Obviously he never inspected my vehicle. This leads me to think his intent was to mislead and defraud me. This constitutes FRAUD!

After reading some of the shoddy workmanship performed by NTB mechanics and management, I am not shocked. I just wish I had known this prior to taking my car to them. On November 16, 2015, I took my SUV (Buick Rainier) to them because the temperature gauge was not working in my Instrument Cluster Panel. The manager, George Barlock, Jr. [protected], 2448 S Church St., in Burlington, NC said I needed to replace the Instrument Cluster. I (myself) thought that it was some sort of sensor or fuse that needed to be replace. All of the other gauges on instrument panel worked just fine. The Instrument cluster cost me $476.01. The total cost was $669.00. The mechanic that worked on my car was Craig Van Riper. I am not faulting him for anything. The PROBLEM is that the Odometer mileage is incorrect and IT needs to be re-set. Mr. Barlock assured me that the manufacture would re-set the Odometer to the correct mileage OR THAT HE WOULD FIX MY OLD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL AND RE-INSTALL IN MY SUV.. This has NEVER HAPPENED. I have called Mr. Barlock once or week and sometimes twice a week about the problem. I must say though, Mr. Barlock is always courteous and polite, BUT he is a lier. I am tired of calling him and getting the same response. Guote: "Let me call the manufacture and I will call you right back." Well as of today, January 17, 2016, he has never called me back. I have decided to take my SUV back to him and get my old Instrument Cluster Panel back and take my SUV to the Buick shop. Should I sell my SUV the State requires that the Odometer reading be correct. I wish I had read the negative comments about the workmanship at NTB (previously Merchants Tire) and I would have taken my SUV to someone else. It have been over 2 months and I am still paying for an Instrument Cluster that needs the Odometer reading re-set. I WILL NEVER, EVER TAKE ANY OF MY VEHICLES TO NTB AGAIN AND I WILL TELL MY FRIENDS THE SAME THING AND I INTEND TO REPORT THIS TO THE BBB AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS IN NORTH CAROLINA.

I experienced one of the worst auto repair visits ever when I recently went to the Natick NTB location and was there after work to have a year old tire, (which I had spent over thousand dollars on the purchase and installation) due to a very slow air pressure leak from both of my front two tires. As I walked in ten minutes early for my appointment I was greeted by the manager and he asked if I had been there before I told him I had not to this location but I had been to the Waltham location previously and when he could not locate my appointment he started to insist that I did not have an appointment and became quickly upset demanding I call back another day with and appointment. As I was about to leave I asked him to check if the appointment was made under my home phone number instead of my cell phone number which it was then he seemed to become bit less annoyed with me and then informed me that they were running between and hour and half to two hours behind on appointments and that I could reschedule, (normally I would but my tire deflation issue was becoming more and more frequent to I offered to wait extra time). As the first two and half hours went by I started to grow more and more concerned that my "minor tire issue was being put on the backburner since I saw new folks coming in after me and leaving before me and when I asked the same manager about not seeing my vehicle even being brought into garage yet and he mumbled that they were going as fast as they could and that my vehicle was next in line. Granted I had bought four brand new Pirelli tires the year before and had purchased the Road Hazard coverage and was told I would not be charged for the tire fix issue I also was made to feel like since you are not paying anything today you are at the bottom of the priority list. Well after almost 2 more hours of waiting I was informed that both tires were fixed and I was good to leave but the manager wanted to inform me that one of the passenger side wheel lugs had gotten snapped off and that I should bring it back sometime to get it repair for free, (which although it was a hassle to make another visit I accepted it for what it was an accident. However the main issue with the tires deflating was never fixed as evidenced by the very next morning on my way to work when I noticed my drivers side tire was almost completely flat which required me to put on my spare tire and made me hour half late for work. After work I stopped into my local Midas and I explained my situation with the tire and without and appointment they removed that tire and checked it for leaks and I was brought into the garage and was shown the tire under water which had about dozen small bubbles escaping from the same area near the rim of the tire where NTB had mounted four heavy lead weights during tire balancing and when he took the tire from the rim they showed me that there was no evidence that any anti-leak sealant or repairs had been even made to tire. Midas offered to have the tire leak repaired for 35 dollars which they did and I have not had one issue with the tire over past few weeks. I have decided that I will never return to the Natick location again and maybe do same for NTB all together.

On August 2 I took my car in for an oil change and asked them to check my back brakes. I had made this appointment online for 2:00 p.m.. I arrived early and told them why I was there. This is the NTB in Humble Texas. My car was running fine I just knew it was time for an oil change. I am on a fixed income and I told them this. They had my car in back for 2 hours and then came and got me from waiting room to show me a calculated bill for 390.00 this was for brakes and oil change. I told them I could not afford this to just do oil change. So they had my car back there for another hour and a half and then charged me for an oil change and I left. Then on Monday I had a appointment in Humble and on the way back my car started clattering like it had no oil. I came home and called them and they said bring it back, so I did. After over an hour they came got me to walk under my car and show me what they said was oil leaking from somewhere under my car. I put my finger in oil and it was burnt black old oil. He showed me a dirty oil filter where the oil filter goes on and told me my car must have been overlooked and that they never changed my oil and they never would have because of the clatter. I said it wasn't clattering when I came in here now it is. Either way I feel they broke my car, if they had changed it it would not be clattering, but I believe they did and did something to it. Now I am out a car, but they did refund my money for my oil change. I believe someone at NTB owes me a car or a motor.

In March 2014, I took my car to NTB in BOWIE Maryland, because the car would not start. The car is a manual transmission, so I was able to "pop" the clutch to start the car to drive it to NTB. Up until this point, my car had run awesomely for years, with no major repair, outside of oil and brake changes. Once there, I was informed that the car needed a new Starter. The estimated the cost to be $998.00 and would take 6 hours. Two days later, I had a friend take me to NTB to check on my car. When I arrived, my car was still in the air and the desk manager looked very surprised to see me. He asked why I was there, since no one called, and I told him that I had been waiting for two days for them to fix a starter that should have taken 6 hours. He said that they were just about done and was going to take in on a test drive. I waited for 40 minutes, and the mechanic still hadn't returned from his test drive. I asked the manager to call the mechanic to find out where he was and if there were any problems. He said everything was fine and that I could pick it up tomorrow. On the third day, I returned to pick up my car, and they told me that I had a vacuum leak from a torn ring, and wanted an additional $1100.00 to fix it. They said the ring had been torn before it arrived at their shop. When I refused the repair and questioned them about the torn ring and how the ring became torn, and why no one told me the day before or any of the last three days, they became very defensive and wouldn't release my car. It was obviously a cover-up for something. I asked if the car was driveable. The manager said it was driveable, and then released the car me. Moments later, I was driving down the Highway, going home, at 70mph with three other cars behind me, and the car cut-off! The engine just died! The cars behind me slammed on their brakes to stop and swerved to miss hitting and killing me, but then they hit the cars in the other lane. Luckily, the people in the accident helped push my car off the road, and the next day I had it towed back to NTB. When I arrived, and told the manager what had happened, he taunted me and said, "I told you not to take it, but we didn't cause this. It must have been some problem that the car had before it came in". They denied any responsibility. Then NTB refused to fix the car, and asked me to have it towed someplace else. I took it to another shop, who discovered that the air intake hose had been cut and taped back together, and that the manifold had been re-assembled incorrectly and had crushed another return line hose. Basically, the car choked on too much air, and cut off. All of these things were right next to or connected to the starter, that I had asked NTB to replace. I took pictures, and took them back to NTB. The store manager asked me to never bring my car back to his shop, and refunded the money that I paid NTB on the condition that I would never return to his shop again. Unfortunately that is not good enough, because now its costing me $1250.00 more dollars to fix the items that NTB erroneously destroyed, and the damage caused to the other engine parts when the car just cut-off and the engine died. NTB should be held responsible for this, but the store manager is now refusing to come out of his office to see me or return my calls.
Avoid NTB!

I think NTB shop in Waldorf, Maryland is a VERY SHABBER repair shop. I took my car in there in March 2012 for a front end alignment because I had just purchased some tires from COSTCO and I new I needed front-end alignment because my tire on the drivers side was wearing out on the outside and I new I new toe-out performed. Upon NTB performing the front end alignment and upon paying. The rep asked me if I would like to purchase the 3-year Alignment Plan which I did. Several months later I had my mechanic replace the shocks and stablizer bar. After this work was performed by my mechanic, I needed a re-alignment so I took my car to NTB on Central Avenue in Capital Heights, Md and the mechanic stated I needed the outer tie-rod replace on passenger side. I did not have the work perform so I went to the NTB in Waldorf. Md where I initially purchase the 3-year front-end alignment warranty and they stated I needed an outer-tie rod on the drivers side and inner-tie rod on the passenger side. As I went to two different NTB shops and was giving two different answers. So I took my car back to my mechanic and he stated that there was very little play in my wheel on the drivers side and that I will need that outer-tie rod replaced but no inner-tie rods but he recommended that if I replace the outte ahead and replae the inner. My mechanic showed me you can check whether your tie-rods are bad by putting you hands at 3 & 9 o'clock on the wheel and check to see if you have any play in the tire (there was just a tab of play in the movement), so I had my mechanic replace the outer and inner tie-rods on the drivers side. I took my car back to the NTB in Waldorf, Md and they performed the front-end alignment on my vehicle. I ask the customer rep (manger of the store) that took my order upon completion where was the print-out for the alignment before and after results. He stated to me that the alignment machine print-out machine was broke. Please get your print-out from your alignment that tells one the results of work the performed. The mechanics at NTB works on commission so when you bring your vehincle back in there for additional alignment they do not make any money, so they will try to tell you you need other work performed. The only reason I truly think they sell the maintenance plans are to get you to come back in for alignment and then tell you you need additional work performed on your car.
