Ordered a Lambert Cherry tree on 5/4/23. Delivery was delayed several weeks. Upon inquiry, customer service informed me that delivery was delayed because they were waiting on trees to become more established prior to shipment. Tree finally arrived on 6/6/23 in very poor condition. Leaves were completely wilted on arrival. It was potted in very course, poorly moisture retentive media. Cursory exploration of roots revealed poor development. Customer service was contacted again reporting the poor condition of the tree on arrival. I was advised to water the tree by immersing the pot in a bucket water. This resulted in limited improvement of the wilted leaves, but severe wilting recurred within 24 hours. Contacted customer service again and was advised to continue daily immersion watering. When I expressed concern about the longterm viability of the tree, customer service advised it was guaranteed for a year. Thus began many weeks of intensive care involving daily watering with limited improvement. I maintained contact with customer service throughout this period. Eventually, I repotted the tree into a more moisture retentive media. During repotting, it was clear how little healthy root mass the tree actually had. Repotting helped significantly, but it was mid to late July before the tree was healthy enough and able to maintain reasonable enough leaf turgor between waterings that it could be planted in the orchard. Ongoing extra care and watering throughout the growing season produced no visible new growth. Due to its poor condition on arrival and inability to sufficiently establish itself over the summer, the tree died over the winter. I planted a dozen other fruit trees which were healthy on arrival (from other sources) last spring in the same orchard and all are thriving. Upon contacting Nature Hills this spring to report the loss, despite well-documented issues from the start, they are now refusing to reimburse my purchase. They will only offer a 50% credit towards purchase of a new tree and I would have to pay for shipping. Even worse, they don't even have Lambert cherries in stock this season. I've already replaced the Lambert cherry from another nursery and it was half the cost I paid Nature Hills last spring anyway. I have never purchased trees from any other professional organization that didn't replace or refund my purchase immediately upon notification when there was a problem on delivery. Heed this warning and buy elsewhere! Deceitful customer service and warranty policies.
Recommendation: Avoid at all costs
Never again
Awful company to work with. We ordered a wisteria tree, never got a confirmation email. When we hadn't heard anything in a month but our credit card had been charged, we filed a dispute with our credit card company. Our credit card company had requested info from Nature Hills and Nature Hills never responded so the credit card company reversed the charge. Two weeks after the dispute was filed suddenly a shipment arrived with a tiny, pathetic looking tree (still no email from the company with confirmation or shipping info). Now the company is harassing us at work wondering why the credit card company reversed the charge, even though they were the ones that would not contact the credit card company and we could not cancel the dispute without them contacting the company. They are an awful company to work with, their products are not as advertised and their communication is non-existent, unless they are harassing. I will not order from this company and I will make sure others are aware how they work.
Recommendation: Avoid this company at all costs
Nature Hills Nursery Review: Terrible Customer Service and Unreliable Products
I had a really bad experience with Nature Hills Nursery. I ordered 8 trees from them, but when I received the first half of my order, I only got 4 trees instead of the 5 that I paid for. I tried to contact them by phone, but they didn't pick up, so I sent them an email. They responded, but they refused to refund or replace the missing tree. They only offered me a discount for a new purchase.
I was really upset about this, so I decided to dispute the charge with my bank. When I contacted Nature Hills Nursery to cancel the rest of my order and get a refund, they refused. They said they wouldn't cancel my order or refund my money unless I dropped my dispute with the bank. They were basically asking me to give up my legal right to dispute unsent items.
So now I'm stuck with only 4 trees from my first order and none from my second order. They won't cancel my order, they won't send the missing items, and they won't refund my money. It feels like they're stealing from me.
To make matters worse, 2 of the 4 trees that I did receive died within the first couple of weeks. I've planted fruit trees before and never had this kind of problem. It seems like their trees are only 50% good when they ship them.
Overall, I would not recommend shopping at Nature Hills Nursery. They have terrible customer service and their products are not reliable.
Disappointing Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: No Blooms, No Refunds
I ordered 2 pink blooming dogwood trees from Nature Hills Nursery in April 2019. When the trees arrived, I called to verify the planting instructions and followed them exactly. The trees were doing well for about 2 weeks, but then they started losing their leaves. I called back and was told that they might be in shock and that I should continue to water them. I did as I was told, but unfortunately, the trees never bloomed again.
In June, I called back and sent pictures of the trees. I was told that they didn't make it and that the trees were out of stock. However, they promised to send me replacements. I waited for a year and called back in April 2020, but I was told that the trees were still out of stock. I was disappointed, but I was willing to accept a 50% refund toward a new purchase. However, I was told that I could only get 50% of one original tree, not 50% of my full amount paid. This meant that I would have to order 2 trees to get the full 50% refund, which would cost me more money.
I asked to speak to a supervisor, but I was told that it was not possible. I was also told that the president of the company would not budge. I was very upset and disappointed with the way the company conducted business. A company should be open to compromising and accommodating a customer. I would have accepted the 50% refund amount toward a new purchase, even though I don't agree with the policy. But only allowing a customer 50% refund for each item is ridiculous.
This was my first and last experience with Nature Hills Nursery. I will never order from them again. I hope that they will change their policy and be more accommodating to their customers in the future. It's important for a company to have good customer service and to make their customers happy.
Nature Hills Nursery Review: Disappointing Customer Service and Poor Quality Plants
My experience with Nature Hills Nursery was a mixed bag. My first order went smoothly - everything arrived on time and in good condition. But my second order was a disaster. The plants I received were damaged, half-dead, and barely 8 inches tall with only one stem. I call them twigs because that's what they looked like! I paid a whopping $78 for two hydrangeas, and I would never have paid that much if I had seen them in person. I could have gone to Lowe's and picked out better plants for a fraction of the cost.
I tried to contact customer service several times, but it was a frustrating experience. I finally spoke to a manager who acknowledged that I was right, but said her hands were tied by the company's terms and conditions. It was a classic "thanks for your money, now be gone" moment. I was disappointed that they didn't appreciate my loyalty - my first order was worth $750! - and that they didn't stand by their products.
In contrast, my local Lowe's has a free one-year guarantee on all their plants, including clearance items. I've returned several dead or half-dead plants to them with no hassle, no questions asked, and a full refund. That's the kind of customer service I appreciate.
In conclusion, I suggest buying local and avoiding Nature Hills Nursery. They're just money-grubbers who don't care about their customers or their products. Stick with Lowe's or another local nursery that values your business and stands by their plants.
Beware of Suspicious Charges: My Experience with Nature Hills Nursery
I gotta say, I had a bit of a rough time with Nature Hills Nursery. Don't get me wrong, the product itself was fine - I ordered a plant and it arrived in good condition and is still growing strong. But there were some serious issues with my payment information that I want to warn others about.
Basically, I started getting some weird charges on my bank account after making a purchase on the Nature Hills website. I contacted the company about it and they said they would look into it. But when I followed up with them later, they basically told me it was my problem and didn't believe me.
I'm not the only one, either. I've seen other reviews from people who had similar issues with suspicious charges after using this site. It's really frustrating because I feel like the company should be doing more to address this and protect their customers.
I'm not saying don't use Nature Hills Nursery - like I said, the product itself was fine. But I would definitely advise keeping a close eye on your bank statements if you do decide to make a purchase. And if you do notice any suspicious activity, don't hesitate to reach out to the company and let them know.
Overall, I think Nature Hills could do a better job of communicating with their customers about this issue. It's not fair to expect people to just figure it out on their own. But at least for now, I'm happy with the plant I received.
Nature Hills Nursery's Replacement Policy and Shipping Fees are Disappointing
really excited to purchase 5 Perfecta Trifecta Butterfly Bushes from Nature Hills Nursery on 10/30/2019. The total cost was $199.75 and I was thrilled to receive free shipping. However, I was unsure whether to plant them right away or wait until spring. I reached out to their customer service team and they advised me to plant them immediately to help develop a better root system for spring growth. Unfortunately, this advice turned out to be bad as all five plants did not survive the mild winter in southern Virginia.
I contacted Nature Hills Nursery this spring to inquire about their replacement policy. They informed me that they would replace the plants at half the original cost after seeing pictures of the dead plants. I spent about two hours trying to send pictures to their website, but it was faulty and I couldn't get the pictures to upload. I finally gave up and wrote them a letter instead. They responded by informing me that they were currently out of stock but would notify me when they received more.
A few days later, I received notification that the plants were back in stock. I called to replace them at their half-price offer, but they gave me a new price of $92.38. I wasn't sure what the tax would be, so I asked for the total price before placing the new order. Here's the kicker - they wanted to charge a $50.00 shipping fee, which would make the new cost $142.38 or 71% of the original cost. This was surprising to me, especially since their current shipping fee is only $9.95 on all new orders and free shipping on orders over $139.
Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with this experience. I would never order from Nature Hills Nursery again and would not recommend them to anyone. I would rather write off my original cost than give them another dime. I even asked to speak to a supervisor, but they were not available and I never received a call back. It's a shame that a company would treat their customers this way.
Disappointing Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Poor Quality Plants and Customer Service
I recently made a purchase from Nature Hills Nursery and I have to say, I was not impressed with the quality of the plants I received. I ordered two plants, each costing close to $50, and paid an additional $15 for shipping. I was expecting to receive beautiful, healthy plants, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
When the plants arrived, they were not securely packed and had spilled out of their containers into the box. This resulted in a huge mess, with dirt spilling all over my floor and everywhere as I tried to empty the box. To make matters worse, one of the plants was much heavier than the other, and they should have been packed separately or more securely. As a result, the plants were dead upon arrival, and the flowers from one of the plants had emptied out into the box.
To make matters worse, the plants arrived on a Saturday, and when I tried to contact customer service, they were closed. I filled out a form online to report the damaged delivery, and also sent an email with pictures of the box, the dirt, and the dead plants. However, I did not receive a response until Tuesday, and even then, I was asked to provide more pictures and details about how the plants were packed.
I explained that the plants were not securely packed and had spilled out of their containers, and that I had already sent pictures. It has now been five days since I first reported the issue, and I still have not received a resolution. It seems like they are dragging their feet and do not want to refund or replace the plants.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Nature Hills Nursery. If you are considering ordering from them, I would advise you to proceed with caution. It seems like they do not take customer service seriously, and if there is an issue with your order, you may be left to fend for yourself. As a gardener, I was really looking forward to receiving these plants, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown.
Mixed Feelings About Nature Hills Nursery: Good Roots, Bent Trunks, and Confused Customer Service
I recently purchased five trees from Nature Hills Nursery and I have mixed feelings about my experience. On the positive side, the roots of all the trees were wet and viable, including the root stock. However, two of the trees had kinked trunks near the bottom, which was a bit disappointing.
In terms of shipping, some of the trees arrived in a reasonable time frame. However, the last tree came so wilted that I wasn't sure if I could nurse it back to health. It arrived so late that I had asked for a refund and to cancel that part of my order, but unfortunately, they refused as they claimed it had already been packaged for shipping. I understood their policy, but it was frustrating nonetheless.
After about a week and a half, the last tree began to come back to life, which was a relief. However, I noticed that the leaves didn't look like apple leaves as I would have expected on a Gala apple tree. I sent pictures to my brother who owns an apple orchard in Northern Michigan, and he confirmed that it didn't look like any apple leaf he had ever seen.
I then realized that I had forgotten to take the green tag off the tree, which was marked as Elberta Freestone, a peach tree. After seeing that, I contacted my brother again, and he agreed that it appeared to be peach leaves, but definitely not a Gala apple tree. I sent pictures of the leaves and the tag to Nature Hills Nursery, but they insisted that the tree was definitely a Gala apple tree, even though it was clearly marked as a peach tree.
I was disappointed with their customer service, as they refused to refund that part of my order for the second time. It seems like they don't have an employee who can tell the difference between an apple tree and a peach tree, which is concerning. Overall, while the roots were good, the trunks were bent, and the customer service was not up to par. I don't think I will be ordering from this company again.
Nature Hills Nursery Review: Disappointing Product Guarantee and Customer Service
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough time with Nature Hills Nursery. I ordered a Weeping Cherry plant on May 3, 2023, and boy was I excited to get it. But when it arrived on May 12, 2023, it was a total letdown. The plant was all dried up and barely had any leaves on it. I was pretty bummed out, but I figured I'd give it a shot and plant it anyway. I mean, the website said they had a product guarantee, so I figured I was covered.
Well, let me tell you, things did not get better from there. Despite my best efforts to take care of the plant, it just withered away. All the leaves fell off and no new ones grew. I did a little test and confirmed that the plant was dead. So, I reached out to Nature Hills Nursery on June 2, 2023, hoping they could help me out.
But nope, they were no help at all. They told me that I was outside of their 48-hour complaint window, so I couldn't get a replacement for free. I'd have to pay half the price of the plant plus shipping costs. I mean, come on, that's not a product guarantee. And how was I supposed to know if the plant was dead within 48 hours? It's not like I'm a plant expert or anything.
Honestly, I feel like Nature Hills Nursery didn't really care about me or my plant. Their "product guarantee" didn't seem to take into account the fact that plants can be dormant for a while before they start growing again. It felt like they were just trying to make a quick buck off of me.
So, if you're thinking about buying from Nature Hills Nursery, I'd be careful. Their product guarantee might not be all it's cracked up to be. I definitely wouldn't recommend them based on my experience. In fact, I'm even going to the Better Business Bureau to try and get this sorted out.
Nature Hills Nursery Review: Poor Customer Service and Unfulfilled Promises
I recently had an experience with Nature Hills Nursery that I want to share with others. Before making any purchases, I highly recommend checking the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website to see their rating and any complaints filed against them. In the last three years, Nature Hills Nursery has had 151 BBB complaints, with 85 of them being filed in just the last 12 months. This is a red flag that should not be ignored.
I made the mistake of trusting this company and placed an order with them on June 1, 2021. My order number was ***757 and I spent a total of $4274.12. I was promised by a representative that all the plants would arrive within three weeks. While waiting for my order, I decided to place another order with them on June 14, 2021, for $1642.16. However, I have not received any confirmation email that the order was even placed. I have tried emailing them, but the email address provided does not work. I have also called several times, but the only option for customer service is to email them. The only way to speak with someone is to hit the option for a new order. The sales representative keeps promising that customer service will send me an email, but it has been a couple of weeks and I have not received anything.
Out of the 28 plants I ordered, only five have arrived to date, and it has been longer than the promised three weeks. The only tree out of 24 that arrived was droopy and almost dead. I sent pictures and an email to Bill the day it arrived, but I have not received any response from him. Meanwhile, I placed an order with Fast Growing Trees on June 2, 2021, for $2993.36 for 25 trees, and they all arrived four days later in good condition. On June 9, I ordered 14 more trees from Fast Growing Trees for $1528.86, and again, they all arrived in four days. Some of these were duplicate trees that I ordered from Nature Hills Nursery that still have not arrived. I have made two more purchases from Fast Growing Trees, and all have arrived in good condition.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Nature Hills Nursery based on my experience. Their customer service is poor, and their promises are not kept. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision before making a purchase from this company.
Poor Customer Service Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Delayed Shipping, Dying Tree, and Price Dispute
I ordered a Navajo Globe Willow tree #3 container from Nature Hills Nursery on June 25th. The price was $88.95 plus $8.90 warranty/insurance and S/H at $9.95. They said it would be shipped within 10-14 days, weather permitting. But a month later, on July 25th, I still hadn't received my tree, and I hadn't heard anything from them. So I sent an email to ask what was going on. Charlotte replied 2 days later, saying that there was a surge in heat in our area (we are high desert in northeastern Nevada) that caused a delay.
Two months later, on September 24th, I had to reach out to Nature Hills again for an update because I still hadn't heard anything from them. This time, they said that the delay was related to wildfires in Oregon. By the time the tree arrived and was planted (the next day), we were so far into our cold season that we were concerned about the tree getting established. We'd already had several freezing nights, which I'd explained to Charlotte in the earlier emails were the norm for our 6,000' elevation. But we had the warranty, so we thought we were covered.
However, our Spring arrived and the little tree was in struggle mode from the beginning. It tried to leaf out, but within days it was clear that it was dying, from the top down. I emailed Nature Hills and included requested photos, and got a response on Saturday, May 29th, that said they had issued a store credit of $88.95. Not long afterwards, I replied that their site showed the same tree at $88.95 with S/H at $8.95, said that we'd like that tree as a replacement and asking how to handle the additional S/H fee.
Shortly thereafter, I missed a phone call stating that the replacement tree couldn't be shipped at the $8.95 rate, and I'd need to pay $24.95 to have it shipped. Also, I was asked to send an email on what times might be best to call back to get credit card info. Because we were going to be largely unavailable the remainder of the Memorial Day weekend, I didn't know what was going to be a good time to call. My attempts to reconnect by phone were unsuccessful until June 2nd, when I was connected to in Customer Service.
During that call, informed me that the current price on the tree was $96.95 and refused to honor the price that was current on the site when we first arranged the replacement. He took offense when I objected, stating that it was wrong of me to hold him personally responsible for my problems, that I should have been more attentive to their terms and conditions, and that I should have a nice day.
I was disappointed with the customer service I received from Nature Hills Nursery. It seems like they either don't train their employees on customer service or they don't care about it. I will be looking for a company that values their customers more.
Nature Hills Nursery Complaints 31
Shipment of dead trees and no refund
Purchased last year four 4-5 ' trees and received four 'stick' trees which i planted in the fall 2022. Only one lived; the others were certified dead by the company this fall. I asked for a refund several times as I did not want more trees from this company. They did give me a store credit for $148 when I had repeatedly asked for a REFUND. Their customer service manager said they give no refunds and if I use the credit I would have to pay for shipping too. No, it cost me over $100 to plant the first ones and I'm not getting any more plants from them. I want my money back. Their plants are not guaranteed. I think its a scam.
Claimed loss: $148 (verified by the company)
Desired outcome: Please refund $148.
Common milkweed
This company misleads buyers about their milkweed. The entire description section of their website raves about how helpful milkweed is for monarch butterflies and caterpillars but not once do they mention that if you buy their milkweed to feed your caterpillars, they will die. They treat with harmful pesticides that can kill your caterpillars for up to six years. This should be stated AT THE TOP of the description so the customer knows this when buying. I’m out 25 caterpillars and $250. No refunds apparently when they’re falsely advertising. Let’s see where this goes.
Desired outcome: Full refund and state that this will kill caterpillars due to the pesticides in the description so people know
Mixed Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Peach Tree Woes and Customer Service Disappointment
I gotta say, I had a bit of a mixed experience with Nature Hills Nursery. I mean, I bought a peach tree from them back in October of 2019, which is pretty late in the year to be buying a fruit tree, especially here in NJ where the winters can be brutal. But the folks at Nature Hills assured me that it would be okay, so I went ahead and bought the tree along with a warranty, just in case.
Come springtime, the tree did start to produce some leaves, but they had these weird red curls on them. I contacted Nature Hills about it, and they told me that as long as I just picked off the infected leaves, the tree would be fine. But then, before I knew it, my peach tree had lost all its leaves except for one or two that looked pretty sickly.
So I reached out to Nature Hills again, asking if they could either refund my money or send me a new, healthy tree. But after waiting for two weeks, all they told me was that they couldn't do anything because the tree was bought last year. Which, I mean, come on, it's only July now, so it hasn't even been a full year yet!
I don't know, maybe I just got unlucky with my peach tree, but it's definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. I had planned on buying more fruit trees from Nature Hills to fill out my yard, but now I'm not so sure. I mean, I did buy four trees from them already, so it's not like I'm a completely dissatisfied customer. But still, I think I'll be looking elsewhere for my future tree purchases.

Disappointing Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Broken and Sickly Trees, Poor Customer Service
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with Nature Hills Nursery. I ordered some trees from them back in September, and when they arrived, they were all broken and sickly-looking. I sent them some pictures with a measuring tape to show how tall they were, but they just kept asking for more photos.
It's like they're just trying to avoid taking responsibility for sending me such crappy trees. And now, they're even making me take more pictures when my husband is in the hospital and I have no help. It's ridiculous.
I don't know if I can trust this company anymore. It seems like half the reviews are negative and the other half are glowing, which is really strange. I just wanted some healthy trees, but instead, I got a bunch of sticks that are barely alive. I wouldn't recommend Nature Hills Nursery to anyone.
Disappointing Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Delayed Order and Excuses
I gotta say, I'm not too impressed with Nature Hills Nursery. I've been getting their emails for a while now, but I never actually bought anything from them until May 19th, 2021. And boy, do I regret it. I ordered a Snowbank Variegated Angel Trumpet, but I still haven't gotten it. All I've gotten are excuses. They keep blaming the weather in my area, but their Weather Policy says that they only delay orders if the weather is bad where the growers are. So what gives?
Meanwhile, I ordered from another online nursery on July 9th, and I got my stuff just fine. So what's the deal with Nature Hills Nursery? I'm thinking about filing a complaint with the BBB, and if that doesn't work, I might even go to the Attorneys General in Nebraska. I asked them to either ship my plant this week or give me a refund, but if I don't get either, I'm gonna have to call my credit card company and tell them it's fraud.
So yeah, if you're thinking about ordering from Nature Hills Nursery, you might want to think twice. I sure wish I had. My order number is ***423, by the way.
Nature Hills Nursery: Unreliable Shipping and Customer Service
I placed an order with Nature Hills Nursery on April 1st. I was excited to receive my items and eagerly awaited their arrival. However, it wasn't until I received my order confirmation that I noticed it said "shipment based on weather". I received two of my items two weeks later, but it's now June and I'm still waiting for the rest of my order to ship. I've been told twice that it's ready to ship, but they keep blaming it on the weather. Interestingly enough, my local nurseries have had the same product in stock for the last three weeks.
According to their terms, if I cancel my order, I'll be charged a restocking fee. This seems like just another way to stall and keep my money. If this company is basing their shipments on weather, then you're in trouble because they dictate when they're ready to ship. It could be in a week or two years, who knows? Looking at the weather in Omaha, Nebraska for the last two weeks, it's been in the middle 50s to high 80s. So it's not the weather that's the issue, they just don't have the merchandise they sold me.
Save yourself the frustration of emailing and speaking with their narcissistic representative and buy from your local nursery. I'm warning you now, but if you have the same issue, report them to the FTC. Don't waste your time and money with this company.
Nature Hills Nursery's Bad Business Practice: Cancellation Fee and Deception
So, I decided to buy a Purple Robe Locust Tree from NatureHills.com. But, then I talked to my cousin who told me that the tree wasn't a good choice. So, I called Nature Hills Nursery to cancel my order. But, it wasn't easy to do it on their website. I had to call them twice to cancel my order. The first time I spoke to Barry, who said that he could give me a gift card for a future purchase. But, I didn't want that. The second time I called, I was told the same thing. I was also told that the cancellation policy was in the terms and conditions, which wasn't easy to find. Normally, cancellation fees are easy to find on a website. But, I couldn't find it. I tried to explain this to them, but they didn't listen. They said that I had to accept either a gift card, hold of fund for future purchase or a refund reduced by the 10% cancellation fee. I think that this is a bad business practice. Other online nurseries don't charge a cancellation fee. I have filed a complaint with Nebraska AGO for the deception. I hope that they will respond soon.
Unreliable Trees: My Experience with Nature Hills Nursery
Nature Hills Nursery is not the best place to buy trees. They have some good reviews on their website and other places, but if you look at unbiased sites, you'll see that their reviews are not very good. I bought two sets of trees from them: dwarf lemon and lil gem magnolias. The lemon trees were in bad shape a week after I got them. The leaves were turning yellow and the trees didn't look like they were 3-5 years old, like they were supposed to be. I transplanted them into a cacti citrus soil and a bigger pot, but they're still not doing great (it's been 2 1/2 months). I'm hopeful that they'll get better, though.
The lil gem magnolias were even worse. They arrived looking sick and they had brown spot disease or fungi. I've been treating them with a copper solution every 7 days or so, but I've had to remove leaves every day and even treat my red tip photosias because the fungi had spread. They're doing better now, but it was a lot of work to get them healthy.
I tried to get help from Nature Hills, but they didn't seem to care. I filed a complaint with the BBB, but all I got was a generic response from Nature Hills. They didn't offer any solutions or help. I wouldn't trust the reviews on their website or anywhere else.
Nightmare Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Paid $150 for a Tree I Never Received
I gotta say, my experience with Nature Hills Nursery was a total nightmare. I ordered a Hosui pear tree from them online in the spring of 2020, and boy was that a mistake. After waiting months for my tree to arrive, I got an email from the company saying they wouldn't be able to ship it to me because it was too fragile. They said they could send it out in late October or early November, but I told them that wouldn't work for me because the tree wouldn't survive the winter. I asked if they could just hold onto it until spring and ship it then, and they said they would.
Well, spring 2021 came and went, and still no tree. I called up the company to ask what was going on, and they told me that the Hosui pear trees were out of stock. I couldn't believe it. I had paid over $150 for a tree that I never received, and I had been waiting for over a year at that point. I demanded a full refund, but they told me there would be a restocking fee. I mean, come on. How can they charge me a restocking fee for a tree that was never even in stock to begin with?
To make matters worse, they only credited me back $60. That's it. After holding onto my money for over a year without any interest, they charged me over 50% in restocking and shipping fees for a tree that was never even shipped. It's just ridiculous.
I'm hoping my credit card company can help me out with this mess, because I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did. Nature Hills Nursery is a really shady company, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Disappointing Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Dried Out Trees, Poor Customer Service, and No Refund
I bought two Red Birch trees from Nature Hills Nursery for a total of $199.19. When the box arrived, it was all messed up and the trees were dried out and had broken limbs. My husband and I planted them, but they didn't look good at all. I called the company and spoke to a woman who said that a representative would email me. After a while, he did. He told me to keep watering the trees and to keep sending him pictures. I did that, but every time I sent him a picture, he said that it wasn't good enough. This went on for a week, and I was getting really frustrated. I told him that my husband and I run a company, and we would never treat our clients like this. It's now November, and the trees are still not growing. They look like twigs. The representative said that he would keep an eye on me personally, but I told him that I was an educated woman and not a child. I asked for a refund, but he didn't give me one. I left a review on another site, and all the reviews that followed mine were 5 stars. I think something fishy is going on. I contacted my credit card company and the BBB. I also found out that some sites that businesses encourage you to leave a review expect that you will leave a positive one. Be careful when leaving reviews. Our voices are being silenced everywhere. I have attached photos of the trees when I first planted them. As you can see, they have no leaves at all, and the limbs are broken.
Nature Hills Nursery Review: Poor Customer Service and Shipping Delays
I ordered a tree from Nature Hills Nursery back in April 2021, and it was supposed to ship in the spring of that year. However, spring has come and gone, and I still haven't received my tree. I've tried to contact them multiple times, but I haven't had any luck. It's frustrating that they don't even let you call them about existing orders. It makes me wonder if they're a scam.
The only time they seem to be willing to talk to you is when you're trying to decide what to order. They're more than happy to have their salespeople talk to you then. But when it comes to existing orders, forget about it. The contact forms on their website don't seem to work either. I've filled them out, but I've never received a response.
I finally decided to dispute the charge with my credit card company. The very next day, I received an email from Nature Hills Nursery's customer service. They claimed that they were about to ship my order when they found out I had issued a stop payment on it. I'm not sure I believe them, though. They offered to give me a full refund, but in the form of a gift card, plus $10 if I dropped the dispute. I'm not going to do that, though. I don't have any confidence that they'll actually honor the gift card when I try to use it. And if they don't, I won't have any recourse since I won't be able to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
I told them that I wanted a full refund to my credit card instead. They responded that that was against their terms and conditions. Well, it's against my terms and conditions to be charged for something that I never received. So, I'm sticking with my dispute and letting my credit card company handle it.
Unethical and Misrepresented Plants: My Experience with Nature Hills Nursery
I recently made a purchase from Nature Hills Nursery on May 25, 2021. I ordered two vanilla Strawberry Hydrangeas that were supposed to be 3-5 years old. My order number was ***176. 153. 08. I received an email confirmation immediately after placing my order, but unfortunately, they anticipated a two-week delivery date. I had landscapers scheduled, and I couldn't wait that long. So, within an hour of placing my order, I decided to cancel it.
Canceling my order was not an easy task. I ended up calling the store directly and spoke with Bill. He assured me that he would send an immediate email to the person responsible for preparing the plants for shipment to cancel my order. While I was on the phone, he sent the email. However, it seems like the email only alerted the nursery that I had canceled my order, and they immediately sent it out that very day. I received an email stating that my order had already shipped, and there was no way to cancel it.
The order arrived promptly, but it was obvious that it was hastily wrapped. All the dirt was out of one tree, and the plastic pots couldn't be taken out of the shipping box as they were stapled to the box! The worst part is that these "3-5 year old plants" weren't even 12 inches tall! I was disappointed to see that the plants I received were inferior and misrepresented. I went to a local nursery, and their 3-5 year old vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas were nearly 4 feet tall and the same price that I paid for these plants.
I find this company to be unethical and misrepresenting their plants. I would advise everyone I know to NEVER EVER order from Nature Hills Nursery. It was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same thing.
$1200 Refund for all plants.
Filed a complaint with FTC. I Ordered plants from Nature Hills Farm and only received part of the order, and the other plants arrived dead. Contacted them about it and they gave me the run around for a month and 30 hoops to jump through. I jumped through all of them. But they never sent the packing slip with the roses and they require it for any sort of resolution. Its fraud. Filed a complaint with BBB. They told BBB they would send the missing plants and they never did. So I filed a second complaint for the missing plant and the dead ones. The website has a health guarantee but they don't fulfill their end of the contract. Found out there is a Facebook page specifically about Nature Hills fraud victims. Google the complaints, it's endless. All of which have the same experience I am having. This company is selling plants online guaranteeing they will arrive healthy and they aren't and they aren't sending everything you paid for, like in my case. They have over 180 complaints to BBB. This company is not selling the products they promise and they also are committing fraud by only sending partial orders and then give you the run around for weeks on end till they hope you go away.

My tree is sick and lost half of its leaves. Leaces were yellow and dropping. Soil was banged out of the pot with roots hanging out. Stalk is weak and narrow with very little tree canopy left.
Desired outcome: New plant or part refund if I can save it
Fuyu persimmon received damaged
Received damaged persimmon, followed website instructions to complete form on line. I have called several times. Ms. Charlotte stated a horticulturist would review my info. Then I spoke with someone else she said the fulfillment team would be in touch. I have yet to hear anything from them or read any correspondence. This is ridiculous. I submitted my info April 8th and it has been an adequate amount of time for someone to reach out. They have lost a customer.
Desired outcome: Refund, replacement
Comice pear tree
I bought a Comice Pear tree from Nature Hills, spring 2019, order # [protected]. I corresponded with Charlotte during the 2019 growing season, periodically sending her pictures of the struggling tree. It tried to grow in 2020, but it has died. I corresponded with Barry in customer service this year, sending him pictures. The tree died this summer. I asked Barry for a replacement. No satisfaction.
I have been gardening for over 50 years. I know how to grow things. We have a vibrant D'Anjoy Pear in our yard.
I have communicated with you in good faith for 2 growing seasons. If you have any integrity, you should replace the tree!

Order #[protected]
Ordered 4 different Roses, which arrived in perfect boxes. Obviously packed with disregard to protecting plants from drying out, falling out of planting material.
I reached out to Customer Service, Charlotte and was told, "according to our Service Manager, just plant them and they will spring back."
I reached out again when they failed to respond to my request to replace the now dead roses.
Now after searching a contact CEO, Mr. Jeff Dinslage cannot be reached.
There is no follow up to any emails.
didn't receive product
I ordered 2 butterfly bushes which didn't make it thru the winter. I called them and sent in pics as they requested. I was given one year credit. When I ordered other bushes using my credit and paying the balance to cover their ridiculously expensive shipping I waited and waited with no new bushes. Calling them they tell me it was shippe weeks ago. I asked to whom did they ship to? No answer was given... then I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Now I find myself in someone's voice mail. After we finally made contact he tells me he's some kind of company manager. Now he's asking me what I ordered like 7 weeks ago. I told him to look it up... "I forgot." Yeah good idea he says... (this is management?) I give him credit card again, wait 3 weeks, no order. This went back and forth 3 times. Finally I cancelled the cc with the bank the third time now. So I lost the credit for the butterfly bushes.

Thank you but your customer service hasn't been honest with me and I don't appreciate the bs I have been put thru. They told me months ago the shipment went out but couldn't tell me where, instead I was put on hold then transferred to your voicemail. Since then it's been a joke dealing with you. Not knowing what I ordered, I had to tell you to look up my order history, then you said there was a $10 price drop that you didn't give me, then there was a stock issue, all the time I was requesting an order number which I did initially and I still don't have one, then you said last week it was going out Monday, today I get a weather forecast, still no order number.
As far as the bank goes... YOU CHARGED ME the $34 and I still have nothing.
I cannot nor will I deal with such incompetent people. I lost money from the very first order of 2 butterfly bushes, which I feel you owe me.
I was in Customer Service 17 years at Sony. If I treated my customers like Nature Hills did I'd be on the unemployment line after one week.
PATHETIC!

I'm truly sorry Jeff, it seems that everything that could go wrong has gone wrong on this order. Requesting the chargeback and then reversing it has put us in a holding pattern and I'm not sure what I can do about that. I believe I've been very upfront with you that we would not reship until the charge-back clears. I will issue the refund once we get the credit back from your bank, or if you can cancel the reversal, you are can certainly do that as well. We have already been charged for the chargeback. You are more than welcome to contact our President, he and I have been in close communication regarding your order.

Trent,
No offense to you but I feel I'm being lied to. You told me MONDAY shipment with a phone call with a shipping number I've been requesting from you for weeks... which never happened.
I see from Nature Hills online reviews how horrible your customer service is. I will be adding my comments for sure. When I find the president's number there I will be calling him to advise him what crappy service I got from you.
Kiss another customer good-bye.

Jeff,
We won't ship until we get the credit back from the chargeback. If you would like to call in and place a new order we have our lowest Free Shipping promo going right now at $89, we don't ever go lower than that so it would be a good time to place the order.
On the other hand, I should advise you that the heat across the US has been really hard on plants during shipping. So much so that we will likely start holding orders next week if the shipping routes are too long and too hot. Given the heat, you may want to wait for the reship of the original order or hold until the heat breaks.
Just a couple options for you. If you'd like to get the order in now, I'll make sure we get the original order refunded once the chargeback clears.

Okay thanks Jeff, as soon as we see that come through on our end I'll have Julia or Barry give you a call to get the new order placed. I would recommend that we place the order on Monday so that we can get it to you before the next weekend. That way we don't risk it sitting in a hot truck over the weekend.

Very disappointed ... bought a Chinese blue wisteria tree that cost me, with shipping, about $75. Regardless of the fact it was delivered far too early in the northeast this spring, I had a local tree service company plant it according to the nursery's instructions, but it didn't make it. I sent pictures showing them the dead stick. But more disappointing than the dead tree was the warranty I learned about after the fact ... a replacement would be half the cost and the shipping! Horrible policy ... no other online nurseries have such a poor replacement policy. They wouldn't offer me any exceptions. I'll stick with my other sources that offer much longer guarantees.

I live in the Desert and they assured me they would grow in the desert sun. By the middle of June, one of only 2 that had any growth burned all the leaves off the second. This left me with 2 twigs sticking out of the ground.
When I called to get a refund, they told me they would only give 1/2 off towards another purchase. Julia asked if I would entertain that. I said I couldn't find anything that would grow in the desert. She insisted I talk to the sales people. So I did. Bill got on the phone, and he agreed with me that they don't have any desert type trees. He sent me back to Customer Service and Julie answered again.
I informed her of what Bill told me and she said there are no refunds. I insisted it was their error for selling a product that was not desert friendly. She started stating I put in the order, and I said congratulations, you are correct. She got mad and told me I was "a [censored]" and hung up on me.
I am pursuing the refund with Visa and they said they will go after them.
The hole thing that bothers me is I called them before I ordered and asked specifically if this would grow here, and they said yes, you are in Zone 9. Come to find out, Florida is Zone 9 and they would probably grow there, but not in Palm Springs, California.
