FALSE ADVERTISING
Norm Thompson Co. refused my recent request to exchange an unopened gift order of "peppered pork loin" appetizer priced at $36 for a different non-pepper food item, despite their published "no hassle" guarantee and no exclusion of food item from their published on line catalog's satisfaction "no hassle" guarantee. My shipping slip also contained the written "no hassle" satisfaction guarantee or exchange commitment. The initial NT rep I called in January 2015 at NT customer service was very rude, placed me on long holds, and eventually also refused to let me speak to a supervisor. He said he would "escalate" my complaint about NT refusing my request for an exchange to someone from NT's "escalation" department who would call me "soon". About a week later, another NT rep called and just repeated the refusal to exchange. She told me I should just contact the gift giver. I asked her wouldn't NT tell the giver the same thing (no exchange allowed) and she admitted "yes." Based on this very unsatisfactory experience, in my opinion Norm Thompson commits false advertising, does not live up to its written commitments, is rude, and gives customers the "run around". I would never buy anything from Norm Thompson and I have told the giver of the gift itme about this ill treatment by NT as well and recommended no further purchases.
Fraudulent charges
Just recently noticed a recurring charge on my Amex. Called the number on the bill. Got an answering machine saying not available to help at this time. No name or company on answering machine. So googled the number and this complaint board popped up. Evidently this is a common scam when ordering from this ### company. I have since notified the company and American Express to refund the full amount of this charge going back 10 months. I am owed $149.50. I NEVER agreed to PAY for a membership. If in fact there was a box to check to become a member, it did NOT associate it with any fee. This is underhanded and predatory and must be stopped. What a scam! Not only is AMEX hearing about this, but so is the FTC.

I am receiving charges of 14.95 a month that I have not authorized. I ordered a pair of pants several months ago.
Since then, I have been getting these 14.95 monthly charges.
Terrible customer service - shoddy merchandise
I ordered a couple pairs of pants from Norm Thompson - paying extra for hemming. One pair arrived in unusable condition. One hem had been sewn totally askew, and then the pants were pressed so that for part of the hem, an extra layer of clumped up cloth was sticking out of the cuff. Since their return form implies that the customer has to pay for shipping back returns, I emailed them saying that seemed wrong, sending a photo of the pants. After a couple days of emails back and forth, they agreed to cover return shipping. They refused to send a new pair until the old pair was received. That was April 15-17th. I immediately returned the pants, using their return label. Today is May 20. Just now, they say they have sent out a new pair via U S postal service, which has not yet received it. First of all, no firm with any pride would have shipped what they originally sent. Second, even if somehow there was a rogue tailor, once they saw the photos, they should have moved quickly to accommodate by sending another pair. The only reason to insist on getting the old pair back first is if they plan to resell it. See photo below. No reputable firm would see the pants as salable. If return shipping runs long like the shipping back with their label, it will be a total of six extra weeks to get the pants, even though it was their sloppiness that resulted in the exchange.

$14.95 Charge on my credit card from Jan. 2010
I have been charged $14.95 /month since 1/2010. I have no idea what I have been charged for or how this was authorized. I certainly did NOT authorize.

Same thing just happened to me. They owe me 10 months of back charges for this fraudulent fee. Amex is working on it for me. The FTC will here about this shady practice they have rigged up.
NORM THOMPSON REWARD PROGRAM
When you make an online purchase through NORM THOMPSON, at the end, a pop up box comes up, stating: "Click if you want to receive 15% off your next order of $50.00 or more"...PERIOD! Nothing else is there stating it is a MONTHLY FEE of $14.95. About a week later, after my 84 year old mom received her merchandise, this REWARDS magazine comes from, NORM...

My wife bought something from them in June of 2010. In July, Norm Thompson began charging our Amex card $14.95 for some rewards program. My wife did not authorize this program. Had no idea what it was. When asked about a verbal or written authorization, NT has nothing to support their charging our account, and therefore it's fraudulent. When I realized what they were doing, I contacted them, and after some cajoling, they agreed to pay back the entire amount (Over $300.) Don't let them get away with paying back any less than the full amount, and I hope soemone sues them. It's what they need.

$14.95 mo. Subscription Scam
I have been shopping the Norm Thompson catalog for many years. Imagine my shock to find that my husband been scammed into unknowingly subscribing to "Norm Thompson Rewards" for $14.95 a month on his Visa card after buying me a new robe for Christmas. He has been charged the last three months and knows nothing about why. Here is a transcript of my...

Was informed by my 90 year young mother today that she had been being billed $14.95 monthly on her credit card since June, 2011 when she had placed an order for $35.00. I called [protected], the phone # on her statement, and after a few minutes of selecting options, and waiting "for next available customer service rep" I got to talk to a live person. I somewhat gruffly explained the situation, using the "taking advantage of the elderly" approach, and demanded a full refund for 8 months of charges. The gentleman promised a refund of all charges that will show up on Feb 2012 statement. He also informed me that she will be charged this month! (It is to be included in the 8 months refund) It will be interesting to see if this actually happens. I'll post in Feb with the outcome.

I was examining my credit card statement and saw a charge form Norm Thompson Rewards for $14.95. We have been paying this charge since February of 08 following a purchase from Norm Thompson. We were unaware of the charges and encourage anyone who has done business with Norm Thompson to examine their credit card statements as soon as possible. We will persue these charges on Monday 2/22/10 when the offices for Norm Thompson rewads are open.
I've been scammed too! $14.95 monthly for 10 months. What do I do now? N.Saenz, Oak Hill, VA, 3-4-2013
FRAUD monthly charges on my account
I noticed a $14.95 charge on my Amex Card this month and called Norm Thompson to see what it was. They said I signed up for a Rewards Program with them. I denied doing any such thing. I then looked further back into my past statements and I noticed that they have been stealing $14.95 from my Amex Credit Card since July 2010. They have ripped me off for $239.20. Is there any way you can help me to recover this money? American Express can only credit me for the past 4-6 months, and this has been going on for 16 months!
Thanks.

Phony membership
I looked a my m / c bill today and noticed a billing of $14. 95 from nto norm thompson - (I purchased a cashmere sweater last year) but of course paid for that along time ago. I called [protected] and spoke to a man who said i signed up for norm thompson rewards. I never signed up or purchased anything again from norm thompson. Turns out i have been charged over $100. 00+ for their rewards (?) he said he would credit me the $14. 95. When i told him i was looking at the complaint board online - he offered to refund the whole amount. I called my capital one representative as soon as i hung up with him. They are pursuing this and i will get a total refund. Thanks for posting the info above about this company - you were very helpful indeed.
rewards progran scam
I find I as many others have been enrolled in a "rewards program" by Norm thompson by the simple act of purchasing one of their products. I finally noticed the $14.95 monthly charge which they had benn billing on my CC since October of last year and called to find out what it covered. behold, i was enrolled in a "rewards program" that I never knew existed. It evidently is one of those, "if you don't say you don't want it, your enrollment is automatic" programs. I always liked their clothing, but they have seen the last of me and my family. Things must be tough at Norm thompson for them to resort to scams like this to raise revenue...

Scam
You have to opt out on the internet and they depend upon people not checking their credit card bills closely enough. There are no rewards and it is a fraud. We called them and they refunded the last two months, which is what the bank would have done, but we are out the rest of the money. I never checkoff anything and am careful but this opting out has to be a way they get suckers. When we called they said the rewards were "free shipping on the next order". That's a whole lot of shipping for a charge every month!
NEVER RECEIVED ORDER!
I placed on order on 11/28/10 for a sweater as a Christmas gift. I was charged $16.00 to have the ONE SWEATER shipped. Tody is Dec 10 and still no sweater. I called Norm Thompson and spoke with the most unpleasant and unprofessional Mrs. Gustafson who refused to do anything. She said I have to wait 30 days before she would do anything. I explained this was a Christmas gift and she could not have cared less. She told me to purchase another one! How do they get away with this...STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Bad news.

Two years ago I sent a note thru their dc emails service. Today after dc ing the service and receiving four emAILS TO JUNK FOR TWO YEARS I STILL receive emails. Don't waste your time with customer service about as helpful as shingles. Never sign up to get their emails. Plus last time I bought something(clothing) from them. The Quality was crap. Don't waste time or money. MJB
Rewards Program
For the past few months I have been receiving a $14.95 charge monthly on my credit card statement from Norm Thompson Rewards. I should have caught this before but didn't until this month when there was both a May and a June change on the same statement. I contacted the "Membership Service" - a woman answered but could tell me which company she represented because it was obviously a marketing firm that represented a number of companies. In the end it was obvious that I inadvertently took a discount that had a rewards program attached to it when I placed an order back in July 2009. There was some trial period and then the automatic monthly charges started. Confirmation of membership came in the email related to the order I placed, which I probably didn't read because I had already printed a confirmation out. The Customer Service supervisor was able to cancel my membership in this program and refund about half of the automatic charges. She cited policy and the fact that I could have cancelled anytime which I would have if I had caught it sooner. I really didn't have time to fight about this further.
This is the lowest type of trick marketing. Who ever heard of paying monthly to belong to a rewards program.
I won't be spending any more money ever with Norm Thompson or its affiliates Solutions or Sahalie. Its too bad because I really liked some of their products.

I too was a victim of this Rewards Program scam. Capital One is disputing the charges, and I spoke with both Norm Thompson and Encore representatives today. They have agreed to remove the charges from my bill. I have also filed complaints with the Office of Consumer Affairs in PA. and here in Georgia where I live, and encourage everyone else to do the same. When someone uses my cc# to make unauthorized charges, I consider that credit card fraud!
Unauthorized Credit Card Charges
Just browsing my credit card statements for 2009 I was horrified to see that there was a $14.95 charge for every month continuing into 2010. This is HORRIBLE! I will contact my credit card company immediately and stop any further charges and I will contact Norm Thompson immediately tomorrow with a harsh complaint. Yes, we've bought clothes from Norm Thompson on line and that's the end of it unless they refund all of these bogus charges.
Clothing purchased was from their catalogue about a year or more ago, but I have no idea how we became connected with a membership that authorized a monthly charge against my credit card. How long has this been going on?

I want removed from the so called Reward Program
I am also being charged 14.95 a month without authorization. I would
like to be removed from the "Rewards Program" LB-Rehoboth Beach, DE.
I'm another victim. We've been charged since November 2007! My husband pays this credit card bill and $14.95 a month never raised a red flag. The big holiday Amex bill caused us to look at each item. That's when I noticed the Norm Thompson charge. I hadn't bought anything from them in so long I had to call their 888 number and question it. Same thing said "You signed up for this." No I did not. Why would anyone in his right mind pay $14.95 a month, for life, to receive special offers? I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Oregon yesterday. I also spoke with them and was asked specifically if this was about "unauthorized charges". She knew!
i am also another victim. Wow, this is pretty strange.
We also were getting charged. Apparently my wife signed up for a free membership which reverted to a $14.95 monthly charge.
Call up and complain. We only got 6 months refund however for 12 months of charges.
What a rip-off.
I strongly suggest never buying anything from Norm Thompson again.
There are LOTS of equivalent clothing merchandisers out there that are honest!
Fraudelent billing
In August I ordered a pair of trousers from Norm Thompson, a company that I had done business for 43 years. I ordered on their internet site and paid by master card. I received the trousers and left the country for a vacation.
In December my spouse printed out the credit card statements and discovered that in August we had the first monthly fraudulent charge from Norm Thompson that totaled $61.75 by the December billing. When I phoned Norm Thompson they said that when I had ordered the trousers I had signed up for a rewards program. They said they did not make the charges but that they were from a Encore Marketing International at a different phone number. Further questions and accusations by me and the customer service employee said most people that called them about the charges never knew they signed up. I never authorized any charge by Encore marketing and never authorized Norm Thompson to share my credit card information.

In my experience, Norm Thompson Catalog Company does not deliver online purchase items by the date as requested. To make the situation worse, they do not warn you that the items will not be deliver on time so you can make other arrangements, they do not response to emails inquiring about the purchase and Norm Thompson does not offer credit when they failed to deliver. I had order Christmas gifts from Norm Thompson online in November indicating that I wanted them delivered in the week of December 15, 2017. I receive the items on December 26 with no offer to adjust the cost of the items. I had tried to contact the company before Christmas but they did not respond to my inquiries. Norm Thompson did not warn me that the items would not be there by the agreed date.
I was going through my 2017 credit card statements and ran across a monthly automatic "membership fee" withdrawal of $14.95 to Norm Thompson Rewards. I called up the number on the statement and was told that I had bought something from this company more than a year ago and at that time when I was ordering from their website there was a "pop-up" that said that I wanted to become a member. I do not remember seeing this "pop-up" and would certainly not have given my OK to a monthly fee. They person who I was talking to who represented the Norm Thompson website said that there was nothing he could do but cancel the membership from now on. He has collected more than $200 from me and I have never used his website since the first time I made an order. I received his magazine in the mail and called to order one item more than a year ago.
I returned a dress to Norm Thompson which I had had for some years but had not worn more than once because the first time I washed it the dress became very out-of-shape. I looked up their guarantee which said items could be returned anytime with no questions. I sent the dress to Norm Thompson's Returns Dept address and explained the problem in a note. Although I supplied my email, phone, and address with it, I heard nothing from Norm Thompson. After almost a month I called Customer Service and asked for the status. They told me to call in another week. I waited weeks until after Christmas. I spoke with another Customer Service person who told me she would research it and call me in 2 - 3 days. I heard nothing again and called back a week later. Now they tell me they have no record of receiving the dress and I must get some proof from the post office that I sent it and that they received it. I think I threw out the mail receipt and probably will not be able to produce proof for them. But Norm Thompson's careless attitude, lack of responsiveness, and ineptness are a warning not do business with them again.
unauthorized chages
Well I'm another one who got hit by this bogus membership. I did contact them and was told in writing it would be credited back to the credit card. I made another order and the 'slider/pop up' automatically appears. I did escape out, but that is what I thought I did the first time...so we will see if they honor their words...and if this is a BS automatically charged with an order. If so they lost another customer for good...I won't even make phone orders. Inthe mean time I will be puting the credit card company on notice. Bonnie K

charges
I ordered clothing for Christmas from this company, Norm Thompson, and just noticed for the past four months they have been charging me 14.95 a month, for a rewards program I never signed up for. I want my them to credit my account for that money. I loved the things I've ordered from the, but I will not order again if this situation isn't fixed

Scam charges on credit card
Norm Thompson started charging me $14.95 per month for some membership program I had never agreed to. I put the charges in dispute with AmEx. I also called the toll-free number on my statement and tore a strip off the markeing company. I've spend a lot on clothing from Norm Thompson over many years but I will never deal with them again - this is a disgrace.
