I rec'd a postcard type mailing that promised a free gift and a chance to "pre-view" the magazine "at no cost to me".

The only thing I rec'd from this company was an invoice for a 1 year subscription. No free gift included. Inside the invoice was a letter stating that as soon as I paid my membership dues, I would receive my gift from them as promised.
Since I had no desire to purchase a subscription, I did not reply to the letter, nor did I purchase a subscription.

1 month later I received another invoice from this company stating that "your payment is seriously past due". They went on to inform me that "at this point, we must also give you notice that the north american fishing club does retain the services of a nationwide licensed collection agency, for the purpose of pursuing unpaid debts.
As I live near a major texas lake, I intended to warn everyone I see.
This company practices deceitful methods of marketing as well as threatening tactics, all in an attempt to steal.

well I got similar notice from NAFC.

Initially they sent some book about BASS + free gifts: 15lb line and some crap Rapala Lure.

First of all, I never requested these items so I just kept everything and didn't bother returning it.
why should I return it if I never asked for it?

Then I started getting notice..pay $10 for the book else return it. I got this notice several times.

The best option: just keep what you get from NAFC and don't bother replying or paying!

I joined the club and was also promised a free gift. I eventually got a patch and some fish hooks made of iron...which broke if you blew on them...supposedly some new company but probley made in Hong Kong. Then there were a few member options...ist being about 45.00 for yearly memeber and promised you would be sent free fishing gear of all types each year just for joining...NEVER got a thing...THEN they offerd Life membership for 275.00...and they really promised that you would get a bunch of new fishing gear to try out and keep all you had to do was write a quick review of the product...I got a piece of junk fishing pole and crappy real from Hong Kong, another NAFC patch, life membership for NAFC magazine and a crappy hat. That was 2-3 years ago...have not seen a magazine in years, not one item to test...nothing...except a new offer for a " silver, golden or Platinum Life Membership." The silver was 500.00 more, 750.00 for gold and 1500.00 for platinum...and more promises of free crap you never get.
As it tuned out when I made payments on the original Life membership, I looked back and made the final payment 3 times for an extra 240.00 dollars. so they got an extra 240.00 out of me because I did not check the total paid already...They have no record of that.

So after reading this if you still want to join...let me give you my address and you can send me the same amount...I'll send you twice as much cheap crap and promise you a platinum membership for half that.
