4 days of no electricity and a water leak
Hello, my dad lives in NYCHA Wald Houses in the lower east side. Since Sunday April 1st he has not had any electricity in his apartment, due to a leak from above. Housing has not given him or any of the tenants in his apartment line any information as to when the electricity is coming back. This has happened in the past and they fail to fix the issue. The fire department has been called to the location several times as well because of the leak going through the electrical box that supplies electricity to the apartment. My father is an 89 yo who has dementia and is a fall risk and lives alone. He has no working phone at home, and the refrigerator is on only because housing used an extension cord and ran it from the neighbors house to my dads fridge. And the neighbor keeps unplugging it. The conditions in my dads apartment are unsafe for him as well as the other senior citizens living in his apartment line that are also dealing with the leak and no electricity. NYCHA continues to tell me when I call that they are working on it. Something has got to give. The conditions are unsafe for anyone especially a senior citizen with dementia, a fall risk and who lives alone. Unfortunately I dont live close enough to go get him plus I have my own health issues and small children. If NYCHA knows this issue was not fixable right away the tenants should of been placed in a safer environment. Unfortunately senior citizens in NYCHA are under the impression that if they complain to much to housing that they will get kicked out for excessive complaining, This is a myth that has been going on for years and it needs to stop, Please help them feel human and not like animals living in unsafe, dirty conditions that are beyond their control.

second hand smoke (crack and marijuana) drifts into apartment
I am writing to inquire about the law regarding second hand smoke (Coke /Marijuana) in Nycha housing. Currently i reside in General Ulysses S. Grant Houses . My neighbors smoke marijuana and crack. The drugs drift into my apartment. The smoking has caused me to have severe uncontrolled asthma and thyroid cancer. Also the second hand smoking has made me develop other illness. I had to drop out of graduate school and not work because the second hand smoke makes me sick. Recently my mother went to the hospital twice because of the drugs. My mother has developed severe migraines and anxiety because of the second hand drugs. My mother called the police on December 29, 2017. The police arrived two hours later. The police suggested that we go to housing court. Also I contacted the NYCHA smoke free department. Deputy Director Monique McLeod told me that they are implementing a smoke free policy. I am on multiple medications!
Also i have written documentation of when the incidence occurs and have doctors letters. The first time i contacted management about the drugs was October 2016 and nothing was done. After management failed to respond i reached out to the Manhattan Borough president Gale Brewer. I have documents from Brian Honan that states he will resolve the situation. The situation is still unresolved. Recently my mother went to the smoke free NYCHA meeting on March 13, 2018. It' s a coincidence that the following day my cousin was contacted by the management office after two years of complaints. I do not understand why management would send the police after all this time. Like i mentioned previously we called the police before and they said there is nothing they can do about the drugs. Management only decided to call the police this time after the smoke free meeting .Management did not investigate properly which cost me and my mother's health. NYCHA tells me there is nothing they can do about it because there is no law about drug use in NYCHA apartments.
Thank You

steam pipe leak for 3 days in kitchen wall and electrical outlet wise towers
first reported on Jan 22. ticket # 5644057, maintenance worker came after 1pm, i had left to go back to work, re entered ticket for the next day # [protected], maintenance worker inspected leak from wall and outlet, went to above apartments, said he needed to enter Apt 11j. No tenant was available. Julian, maintenance worker, contacted Mr.Lopez the superintendent, and notified him to reach out to tenant because they needed access to apartment. Jan. 24th : went to housing office spoke to Mr. Lopez and asked the status of the situation. Said they would need to leave a notice on 11j, that they need to enter Apt. or NYCHA would have to forcilbly enter. He also mentioned that the tenant has 48 hours to comply to the notice before they can legally enter. As of 4:45 pm I did not see a notice on tenats door.
Water is still coming down the wall and in the electrical outlet. There is now a smell of stale water in the apartment. Need repairs done ASAP, before more damge is done to the wall as well as the floors.
the roof on my development is collapsing
The roof of my development where I live is causing the rain water to leak threw to my apartment and the roof to turn brown and the wall has to be repaired about every 6 mths causing foul odors and paint chips everywhere it even has mold also I have a small daughter and it is so bad sometimes water comes out of the bottom of the wall when it rains it floods the hallway and my living room and rain is pouring from the top of the elevator doors
rude and irresponsible housing brooklyn management staffs
Customer Representative was so rude and yell at people who was coming to set her third appointment regarding the apartment repair. It had been half year since we reported the mail box lock not working, still no one come to fix. The lady manager name Seement was so rude and irresponsible. We can never find her in office and she is never returning calls. Our rent is double up because she didn't do her job in the timely manner after we gave her all the income proofs. I wish there was someone else we can complaint to.

I has also called them on Friday December 22 to complain about the problem and about the leak coming from the living room radiator that I have to put a bucket so the water won't go down to my neighbors house... Housing workers get paid to sit on their and not do their job.. Give me that job... Mist be easy to get paid to do nothing.. If this problem continues I will contact Monica from channel 11 news and tell them my story and show them I get mice in my stove and I can't use the oven to cook for my kids for the holidays.

the workers at the fordham center
Sitting in the fordham NYCHA center and the staff are literally having a party and NOT doing their jobs.. A party is seems to be more important than servicing customers. People have been sitting in here for hours on end because the staff are partying this is not fair to us customers whom are here to get business taken care of... If you want to party on company time atleast tell the public and your customers that you are closed or something... Everyone here in the back on floor 2 need to be fired. This is a disgrace
repairs/exterminator
I live at Bronx River Houses and on top of having housing assistants who just don't care, there's also maintenance that never seem to do their jobs, along with the exterminator. What is the point of having the MyNycha app if the only people who uses it seems to be the tenants with absolutely no follow through from anyone actually working for NYCHA!

I am not allowed to prepare food, landlord won't accept my rent, voucher illegal renting
My bf and I are renting a room at the address of 47 featherbed lane apt 5h in the beonx ny. The other tenant in the next room is the landords cousin. I have debitating depression and anxiety stemming from
Ptsd that doesent allow me to
Work. On top ofbeing a stressful atmosphere, in which the cousin slams doors and items out of rage (I think he has a drug problem) I was told iam not allowed to cook. My food allowence is all ebt so instead of being kicked out, I have been fasting. Before that in order to help with payment of rent, hra offered me a voucher to pay up to 200 $ a month which would help significantly. Right now the landlord rents a small room to us weekly which costs us $260 each week. The stress with this kind of environment has caused me to go into a deeper depression in which I am afraid to leave the bedroom. My bf was told that the land lord wont accept the voucher I would get for rent because she is renting to us illegally. The cousin roomate is violent and scary and I dont kno what options I have anymore.
cat has been registered for years.
To whom it may concern :
My name is Diana Baldwin and my family lived in N.y.c.h.a for 12 years. I am writing cause i recieved a letter and it saids third warning about my animal being registered. Two times the manger office got it wrong. They were saying you better register your dog and I got this twice. We dont have a dog.My neighbors never seen me walking a dog. I went to tell my housing assistant that i didnt have one and then she said disreguard it. So I did what Mrs Daniels said and now I get a letter this is the 3rd time we are telling you, your cat needs to be registed. We do have a cat but shes been registed for the past 12 years im living here. Just feel like im being harassed. Ask new teanants about registering their animal. Already been here for years.
In the letter it states we have no record of the cat being registered. Thats impossible we computers and technology.Has to be a record of my cat registered somewhere.Im sure housing doesnt loose information like that.Or maybe someone is not doing their job and looking in my file. Most definately got to be there. I am not taken my cat to the vet again or paying $25 fee.Your only suppose to do that once when coming to live here.If someone was neglecigant with the information, I shouldnt be responsible for that. I did my job as a teanant and registed the cat.All i want out of this is my record be looked up and clarified cat registered.
Thanks for taking time to read.Hope this can be resolved.
My name is Diana Baldwin and i live at 433 laffayette avenue bklyn n.y. Im a nycha teanant. I am writing on behalf of my cat not registered. As what Im being told by the manger office at Laffayette Gardens. Thats impossible cause the cat was registed twelve years ago when i moved in.
maintenance
I put in a request initially for my kitchen sink because the water was leaking onto the floor. I put it in through the my Nycha app and it stated that there would be no need to schedule a appt appropriate staff would respond in 24 hours. I did this on fri evening around 7 pm. Come sat by 7 pm nobody showed up. I put in ANOTHER request and same response no one showed up again on sun. By mon someone finally shows up to fix the pipe but for 1 reason or another my bathtub started having dirty water come out and would not drain so therefore no one is able to shower. Since Mon I have been back and forth between my developments housing office and the planning unit for a plumber. Now according to the supervisor Mr. McDonald of the planning unit I have to wait until next week for a plumber to come out and fix whatever is wrong. How is it possible that I put in a ticket for 1 thing and Nycha maintenance causes another problem and Nycha is penalizing my family for a week? My development has sent out emails to the planning unit and still they refuse to fix a problem that Nycha caused. Everyone is saying sorry there is nothing they can do it's up to this dept or that dept and countless back and fourth with no resolution. My whole family has to bathe and Nycha expect us to go to work without being able to properly shower for a week. No one is taking accountability and waiting 1 whole week is absolutely ridiculous. I get eviction notices if $1.00 of the rent is not paid because it was my fault for paying the rent late. What action will Nycha do when it's their fault that my whole family cannot shower. It might seem like it's a small matter but not showering is unhygienic ESPECIALLY with dirty standing water in the tub.
unethical behavior & incorrect annual income salary
I am from Amsterdam Addition Houses and Ms. Smith the housing assistant from the housing office has a terrible attitude and isn't helpful at all. She's always out sick and when she is in the office she rarely answers her phone or when you finally get to speak with her she will hang up on you. She is extremely rude and should not be in the position she is in to deal with tenants. I went to see her in person and the conversation lasted no more than 5 minutes, she said to deal with her supervisor because she's not doing anything, then had the nerve to dismiss me that's when I seen a cockroach crawling on her desk and that was time for me to go. The phones have been busy/down for 2 weeks. Ms. Smith is not a professional and lacks communication between herself and tenants and has a hard time correcting her mistakes. I have requested a re-calculation of my income since July, 2017 and an updated lease because Ms. Smith has calculated me earning $20, 000 more than my annual income and has sent me a new lease with a much higher rent due Dec 1st. She obviously does not know her math therefore, she is definitely in the wrong field of work. Everyone makes mistakes and I understand that however, Ms. Smith does not think she did anything wrong, she is extremely stubborn and disrespectful. She should definitely take more training classes or be replaced.
no heat
I am suffering from the lack of heat in my apartment. I am currently with two sick children (asthma) and I can't afford to live in an apartment without heat or the basic needs. I called the calling center but tickets keep getting closed ([protected], [protected]) it is now Thursday and since the beginning of the winter I do not received any heat as of yet.
First and second floors have heat but third floor is completely out of heat.
I am paying almost 1000.00 in rent and just for me to get to a cold home at the end of the day. I will stop paying rent until this situation is fixed.
I also called the office at my development to speak to the manager but that's more than impossible, nobody is picking up the phone and either the borough management office . I called 311 last night as well but nothing has been done.
My name is Brenda Alberto and I live at 365 Wilson Ave, Apt 3R, Brooklyn, NY 11221. Cell: [protected]
receptionist
This letter is to complaint about the housing receptionist named Ms. Joseph at 1562 east New York Avenue Howard Housing. It doesn't matter what time you call she always never helps or even attempts to try to help you with your situation. It was numerous of times I've personally called to speak to my housing asst or even the manager and was always denied or was told they are out in the field or I cant talk to them and when i finally speak to them on my own they always insist that the information that was given to me was incorrect. I called actually called today and she was trying quickly to rush me off the phone and then she stated she was busy .I thought receptionist were suppose to know how to multi task in their field
repairs / electrical work
I am a tenant that is in urgent need of repairs done in my apartment. I suffer from lupus and my children ages 14 and 3 are developing health issues related to the repairs that are attached to this letter. I have contacted the management office several times and put in several repair request which has been closed on behalf of NYCHA for the past few months and nothing has yet to be done. I am in also need of electrical work as my outlets are detached from my wall and are a fire hazard. My apartment is not safe to live in but I have nowhere to go. Please take into consideration as a priority to have this emergency resolved before it can be too late. With Respect, Samantha Correa

rat infestation
Everyday I come across an army of rats. They are everywhere. They have chased my grandson and myself on many occasions. I have called numerous times to complain and yet nothing is being done. This is a dangerous situation. These rats carry diseases and can attack at any moment. I should not have to live in fear of leaving or entering my building. I live in fear everyday thinking that I might be attacked. This morning, I left my building and there were four rats running around. I had to run out of the building. I could have fallen down and hurt myself. I am very depressed. Please help. I live at 462 Marcy Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11206.
gas/plaster
I live in 3125 park ave in the Bronx. The gas has been out for a little over 2 months. We are not currently being compensated for this. When they have the weekly meetings on Thursday the two men they send are clueless to when this will be fixed.
I also have a hole in my bathroom for the past 8 months. I had an appointment today and took the day off for housing to knock on my door look at the hole and tell me they will call me. This is extremely dangerous to have pipes exposed through a hole in the wall, which i had to cover on my own. This was a waste of my day off, I could've just sent a picture to the office.
This is ridiculous and I hope these complaints are being read cuz I see too many complaints here and not sure if you guys are taking this serious or not.
