Office Depot review: Customer service

I purchased a laptop AND 24/7 tech support at the Office Depot in Kerrville, TX. The FIRST thing that went wrong was the hard drive in the laptop that I chose. The one that was shipped to the store in Kerrville was bad. They wanted to take the hard drive out of the floor model and put it in my new laptop. I refused. I bought a new laptop AND hard drive not a used one. That delayed the delivery by one day. I work for a call center and every day counted in getting my new laptop. When I received my new laptop, I noticed an email address on the outside of the box that contained my laptop. That was the SECOND thing to go wrong. I didn't recognize it as mine. I had given my email address to the manager when I purchased the laptop. I soon became aware that the manager at the store had set up a different email for me. I didn't ask for an additional email address to be set up in my name. I already had one. I called corporate headquarters where they took my complaint. They told me that I would receive a call back in 48 hours. I decided to call tech support in the hopes that they might be able to assist me. They didn't show that I had purchased the tech support package. That was the THIRD thing to go wrong. I called corporate headquarters back to add this to my complaint and was put on hold for over 20 minutes. No company should allow their CSR to put anyone on hold for more than 2 minutes. They should be required to check back in with the caller every 2 minutes. That's bad customer service and reflects that the company doesn't care anything about their customer.
