New vegan
I was advised by my doctor to consume a Whole Foods plant based diet recently. I always believed I had a healthy diet before with lots of fresh veggies, salads, and lots of good quality organic food that included meat and cheese. But I took his advice and wow do I ever feel rejuvenated and energetic now. I ordered “oh she glows” based on it being a nyt best seller and all the good reviews on Amazon and it did not disappoint. Everything I’ve made has been excellent. I don’t feel deprived at all!
BEST APP I HAVE!
I had been using recipes off the Oh She Glows website for a while (all great!) but have had this app since it came out and it is just amazing. Not only are most of my favorite recipes on it, but new recipes are uploaded all the time. It's extremely easy to navigate and you can keep all your favorites in one place for easy access. My favorite feature is that when I have a recipe open my phone stays unlocked and lit up...no more constantly having to tap my screen or unlock my phone. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Best Vegan Recipe App Ever
I love the recipes in this app. I purchased this several years ago and cook recipes from it several times a week. The app is very user friendly. One of my favorite things about it is the ability to make and save notes in the app. I use this feature to record amounts when I double recipes. Another cool thing is that the author of the recipes adds new recipes to it from time to time. The best thing though, is that the recipes are delicious. I would highly recommend that health conscious people purchase it.
Fantastic
I’ve been using Angela’s recipes since 2014, when she was still working on her first cookbook! The app is unquestionably worth a dollar- I immediately recognized many of my favorite recipes. My only suggestion would be for a shopping list feature- it would just be really convenient to be able to add the ingredients for multiple recipes to one shopping list within the app. That being said, that would simply be a nice bonus- the app is already beautiful, fast, and easy to navigate. Yay for more ways to glow!
Yum and clearly written
Angela, thank you so much for your recipes. They have helped me eat plant based for much of 2017. Friends, everything here is super delicious. Seriously the tastiest foods I have ever made! Yes, Angela uses sugar, salt, and oil (usually coconut). But that is not a bad thing. Because the amounts are reasonable for the human body. And they are a small fraction compared to pre-made store food. They have helped me wean myself off of pastries, etc. I am inspired to keep experimenting with delicious plant-based foods in 2018.
Amazing, yummy recipes!
This app is a great addition to her already amazing content on her website and cook books! I love that I can "favorite" recipes because it makes it easy to find the staples I love to cook! I saw a complaint written about how everything is too hard to make from scratch- it really isn't. And once you have all the basic pantry ingredients you need you'll always have everything on hand and Angela makes it so easy by adding tips and tricks to really make the recipes fit your lifestyle. Absolutely love this app! Thanks, Angela!
The most value for the $ of any recipe app I’ve purchased
I haven’t even begun to look at the in-app purchases because of how many amazing recipes there are in the base app. The way the recipes are set up with a little description, the ingredients, instructions, and tips all in an easy to use swiping set up (idk much about app development so sorry for the terrible description) makes it so easy to quickly find what you need while you’re cooking. I’ve already told my friends they should download and would highly recommend to anyone who loves cooking and is new to eating plant based foods.
MD recommended :)
As an oncologist, I’m always asking those patients in their 90’s that don’t look a day over 70 their secrets...I learn so much from them including EAT REAL FOOD. Which is how I began on the journey to discovering this blog and both “Oh she Glows” cookbooks. As a result I have completely renovated my eating...now I’m working on my family’s food choices, slowly but surely. Aside from trimming down I notice such improved mental clarity. As a 45 year old, full time physician and Mom of 5 my new eating habits have been a life saving game changer for me. Thanks!
Amazing recipes, amazing value
First off I have to say the handful of recipes I’ve tried so far have been delicious! As a long-time follower of Oh She Glows, I knew she had an app, but assumed it would be expensive or a monthly charge situation. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was $2! That’s such a steal honestly and I admire Angela for making her recipes so accessible this way.
The app is beautifully laid out and she thought of every possible filtering option to search for specific recipes. The holiday cookie add-on was free as well which I really appreciated. Can’t wait to work through them all!
Long time follower of Oh She Glows
Every time I need to get back on track with my health I turn to Oh She Glows. I've followed her success since 2010 and love that she now has an app. I like being able to cross through the ingredients and add notes as I go along in the app. I was kind of hoping there would be a daily menu option so I could add recipes to different days of the week. An easy way to make a grocery list based on recipe ingredients would keep me coming back to the app and an easy way to forward recipes to myself or others would also be nice. I also hope she plans on adding more recipes. I was expecting to see more.
Great app for new recipes and planning
I love this app. I followed the blog a bit and go to that to search for recipes from time to time. When I saw the app was a thing, I was very excited to try it out. I usually don't spend more than a dollar or so on apps so this was kind of an investment-I don't regret it at all! I've used several recipes and really love how intuitively the app navigates. I like the beautiful pictures, the variety of recipes and the fact that it updates regularly. I enjoy the functions to write in my own notes for recipes, Cross out steps and ingredients as I go and favorite the recipes that I really enjoy. I recommend this app.
Truly Amazing!
I can’t tell how much I love this App. I’m a huge fan of Angela’s and am stoked to to have it. My husband and are retired and we travel a lot in our old Airstream. My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 4 years ago and I have celiac disease so we follow a gluten free plant based diet which means lots of home cooking and very little going out to restaurants. My Oh She Glows cookbook is my bible. The recipes are so delicious and healthy. It’s wonderful to have this App with me at all times, it’s so easy to use and the photos are spectacular. Thank you so much Angela for making our food journey exciting and healthy!
Boring & not updated enough
I downloaded this app not knowing that I’d have to pay $2.99 for it . With that being said I expected something times better . Sadly, I was let down . They recipes are some what boring & repetitive. I must say that the photography is gorgeous . on whomever is taking the pics . That’s why I gave 2 stars . Otherwise I’d give 0 if I could . Please add new , exciting recipes and please add recipes for Vegans who also have Celiac disease and other allergies as well. ( such as corn , rice etc). Now that would be totally inventive . No I’m not talking about a juice or smoothie Bc I do that on the daily . I’m talking real meals . I think your concept is great but the delivery & app setup is poor and def not worth $2.99. It should be free .
Incomplete access to recipes on website
I just purchased the app specifically to print a recipe for gluten free graham crackers on her website. Printing of recipes is blocked unless, apparently, one pays for the app. Well, the recipe is not to be found using the app.
Very unhappy, both with the greedy denial of printing (what’s the difference if you can read the recipe), and the incomplete recipe access once the subscription is paid.
I bought the initial book, but this ticks me off. Don’t look for any more purchases by me.
Update - there is no way to communicate directly with either the app developer or the chef. Also, there was no response to the review I posted. It’s fair to say that I would give NO stars for this app, and now for the chef. I’ll find vegan recipes and lifestyle support from someone with at least a passing interest in communicating with the folks who paid for her book and app! Shame on you.
Great!
I love tha app, her, her book, and blog;however, I already on the book and was looking for a lot of different recipes. There are a bunch of different ones, but I already have her fabulous enchilada recipe. She changed/ had a different enchilada recipe here, but I kinda had that one down. It's great to try new ways of making something. Also, I wanted it to have more recipes. Anyways, it's still great and I LOVE it! Angela always does a magnificent job. I'll bring buying her new cookbook as well when it's released in Sept! I'm so excited for it :).
I hope the new cookbook includes a gf whole grain pizza recipe, ravioli, and especially vegan "chicken" nuggets. The only recipes I've found online and edible ate good with the garbanzo beans they require, but I know Angela could make them stand out! And perfect. So yes, I'm a bit biased but you gotta love whole food vegan meals,, thanks AL
One downside, lots of good things
The one downside is that you cannot copy the list of ingredients. I log recipes in my fitness pal to track calorie and nutrition information, and I am unable to copy the ingredient information out of the app like I can from the Internet. I don't understand why they have text selection, when most of the recipes are available on the Internet for free, or you could take screenshots of them.
The app is very easy to use; allows favorites; has a great search function that looks into all the ingredients, not just the recipe name; there is a notes section for you to record modifications or comments on the recipe; you can search by many parameters (gluten-free, freezer friendly, budget, season, breakfast); the recipe intro is on a different tab so you don't have to wade through each time to get to the ingredients and directions. The search feature was worth the $5 app cost for me, since I use these recipes for about 50% of my meals.
THE VEGAN APP ROCKS!
I became a vegan four months ago. Before making this change I was a fabulous cook. I have always loved cooking. My children are spoiled because I have opened their minds and palates to new and different flavors from the other cultures and flavors. It’s fun! So I knew once I became vegan that they were not going to make the transition unless I exposed them to some old favorites with new spice. THIS APP ROCKS! The transition for me and for my family was truly seamless. I couldn’t have done it without these recipes! My husband and children are all elite athletes (Swimmers). I love making quick recipes because getting up at 4 to go to swim meets is never easy but when I make the Heavenly Carrot Cake Oatmeal and just heat it up before we leave, it’s perfect on the go. So are the Glow Bars!
I would try those first. The 10 Spice Veg Soup is awesome with some crusty bread and the Warming Rainbow “Pad-Thai” is delicious and colorful! All those are my family faves.
I bought her first book Oh She Glows about three weeks ago and it’s just as incredible. Thank you for this app.
Saving a life
I have been following Angela's blog off and on for a few years now. I've had an autoimmune disorder of my liver for the past 20 years. It is a progressive disorder that can lead to needing a liver transplant. My health has been relatively good, and my autoimmune disorder has been under control, with immunosuppressive medicine, that is until about a month ago. I ended up in the hospital with my liver enzymes out of control (I was a neon yellow color). I was anemic and my electrolytes and nutritional status was in dire straits. Also, they discovered I had Giardia while I was in the hospital. I was discharged two days later, after receiving treatment for the Giardia, getting a blood transfusion, electrolyte replacement, and iv antibiotics. My primary care provider made a ton of referrals for me, one of which was to a nutritionist. She recommend a 90/10 vegan diet, with moving to becoming 100% vegan the goal. She said the biggest thing I need to do is to decrease inflammatory producing foods in my diet, and to eat as many anti inflammatory foods as possible. She referred me to "Oh she glows" for inspiration. I can't say enough good things about this app or thank Angela enough for the change that had occurred in my body since I started cooking recipes from her app, cookbook and blog. I am no longer neon yellow, have a ton more energy, and love my plant based diet. Also, I've lost 14 pounds. Most of all the nutritional values in my labs are improving. I'm hoping by next month they will be almost back to normal. Thank you Angela, you very well may have saved my life.
Underwhelming for the price
First thing’s first, I have to state the good. This app is beautiful. It’s clean, organized, and friendly to someone wandering around the grocery store needing a shopping list and a way to check things off. Well done.
That aside.
I’m pretty disappointed with the Oh She Glows recipes. You may not feel the same depending on what you’re looking for in your diet.
Oh She Glows has a ton of salads, lentils, quinoa, squash, oatmeal, and pasta dishes. And not much else for main meals.
You’re probably wondering “Well, what else is there to eat? That seems pretty comprehensive for a vegan diet!”
There’s a great selection of vegan cooks on Youtube with recipes for things like mooncakes, spinach noodles, vegetable pancakes, oil-free onion rings and french fries, sushi, breakfast sandwiches, lasagna, and so many other colorful and fun recipes. All for free. Don’t expect that level of diversity on this app.
I’ll repeat myself for emphasis. Oh She Glows currently (12.1.2018) has very little for main meals that deviates from salads, lentils, quinoa, squash, oatmeal, and pasta dishes. Expect to eat variations of these things.
Also, Oh She Glows does a pretty decent job of letting you filter out recipes that contain things like sugar, oil, gluten, nuts, and soy; however, I noticed a lot of the recipes I clicked on were dependent on coconut milk. If you’re someone who’s trying to limit the amount of saturated fat in their diet you might find yourself even more disappointed as your options are slashed further.
I’m normally not this harsh when leaving feedback, but I can’t sweep my review under the rug for an app that costs as much as this one. It feels like the content creator spent much more time on making a polished app and taking pretty pictures than coming up with new ideas for food.
Wow! Was I wrong!
I heard so much about Oh She Glows and rated so high and heard nothing but positive feedback from all that has the book and so I wanted to buy the book.
I saw this app and I’m like hmmm I’m not sure I want to purchase this I rather buy the book. But when I saw that it stated that I can share it with up to 6 members of my family I was bought. And so I immediately bought it.
I became upset because it said we can share it with up to 6 family member. And they stated that is IF family sharing is enabled but they weren’t specific as to where to go into nor how to do that.
I thought I would have to go to settings in the app and enable that feature in the app. So when I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE in the app I got frustrated and upset.
One app explained how to do that and then I was like ooooooooh dang wish she explained it like this one explained it it would’ve saved me lots of frustration and anger ♀️
So now for the positive because I believe in saving the best for last.
So far I tried two recipes and they were both simply scrumptious!
So the chickpea pancake with lemon-garlic aioli oh my word who thought of that? It’s out of this world so diffrent! It does not taste like your usual pancake and the pickle mix with the lemon-garlic aioli who would’ve thought of that?!? I mean simply genius! The other one was the cauliflower Thai curry that is kind of like a really dry stew like mixture. In which I did make it in the instant pot as explained. I mixed it with rice and PERFECT PAIR sooooooo delicious Sooooo happy I bought this app!
Heres to more happy eating
***oh 4got here’s an advice she has headnotes and tips for each recipe: on the ingredient section she shows some ingredients with asterisks next to them that means she has something important to say about it in “tips” And so READ the headnotes and tips completely, it’s a must; it really helped me a lot.
Another good feature... you can actually cross out an ingredient you don’t want to use and add notes this is the most organized and helpful recipe app I’ve ever seen.
Oh She Glows Complaints 18
Unusable unless you agree to notifications
This app is unusable unless you agree to receive notifications. You have to select “ok” before getting into the app. I don’t want unnecessary notifications, especially from an app I had to pay for. So until this changes and I can actually use the app, the one star remains.
Annoying ads and pop-ups!
Sure the app is beautiful, but I can't even look up a single recipe without a pop up blocking it, or worse, totally diverting me away! It's aggravating. I'd rather just keep googling like I was before. Maybe if I hadn't wasted $5 on the app it wouldn't be so annoying. Ugh.
Disappointed
Disappointed in the app. If you are look for “bowl” or “salad” ideas then sure it’s great but on average most people can figure out how to make a tasty salad or bowl. Was looking for more substantial recipes and was very disappointed with options. If I could get my 2 dollars back I would!

Waste of Money
For some reason, I am unable to see any recipes even though I paid for this app. There is no settings or account help in the app. All I can see is how to buy her books! I will spend more time trying to get this app to work than cooking any recipes! I wish I could give this 0 stars!
Great layout but only 58 recipes?!
I have loved all of the Oh She Glows recipes I have tried, and love the layout of the recipes in this app. I paid 5 dollars for this app, and what do I get? Many less recipes than the website, but, a pretty layout and great recipes. I give one star for the pretty design, and another for the recipes.
Origin recipes have been deleted
I got this app when it first came out and while I don’t think it’s the most user friendly, it was an easy way to access her recipes. Now I just noted that the original recipes, including those I had marked as favorites are all gone. Guess they expect me to pay more to get them back? Not going to happen.
You pay for the app to get 10 recipes only
Pretty pictures, but... App is constantly going blank saying it can’t download recipes. And wait a minute. When all the recipes finally download, You’ve paid $1.99 for the app to get only 10 recipes, all of which are free on the website, and then you have to BUY more recipes?!?! Talk about a money-grab. Shameful
Wonky
I want to like this app. From the bit I can see, the recipes look divine. Unfortunately, after about four seconds, the app crashes and I'm kicked out of it. Disappointed that I spent money on it to not even be able to read one recipe. It wasn't expensive, but it was money spent, none the less, for something broken.
New iPhone - Now Zero Recipes Available
Have had this app and loved it unfortunately I had to get a new phone and now when I open the app it says, "Please wait while we are downloading your recipes." It has now been over 5 days and still zero recipes. Had purchased extra recipe bundles. Sent a support message in and have heard nothing. Am very frustrated.
Shiny finish but…
Product looks great but recipes are limited and compared to other apps, it doesn’t take advantage of videos or making it more easily understood. Acts as more of a traditional recipe book. But well, it’s not. It’s a cooking app and for the fancy art and glossy finish it doesn’t take into account that it should use more of medium it occupies.
WON'T INSTALL PROPERLY
Title says it all... Restarted. Hard restated. High battery. Low battery. Wi-Fi. LTE... No matter what I do, I can't get this $5 app to install... Just says "waiting" under the icon. Won't delete so I can try to reinstall either... Will update review IF I EVER get to try! For $4.99 it should AT LEAST download/install properly... VERY DISAPPOINTED
Some bugs need fixing
If I try to open a link for any recipe by this author, the app automatically opens whether that specific recipe is in the app or not. Usually the recipes I’ve tried to open aren’t in the app, and I have to copy and paste the link into my browser, and often there are syntax errors when doing this. I really enjoy the recipes, but these bugs really need to be fixed.
Save your money
There aren't enough recipes here to make it worthwhile. Plus every one of these recipes are already available in the blog and all over Pinterest. If this app let me pull new recipes in from the blog, or add my recipes, maybe it would be worth it.
I love love love the blog and cookbooks but this app is half baked! Come on give us an app with all the recipes from the blog!
Limiting
This app may have good recipes, but there is no way to upload, print or otherwise share. You need to either write them down or constantly refer to your phone while cooking. It's as if the author wants you to pay for the app then pay for her cookbooks so you can actually save the recipes in one place and refer to a printed copy. There are plenty of other resources that don't have this limitation.
Very Disappointed
I literally just bought this because of the great reviews. I am so disappointed by what I have gotten. I paid for an app that has no content. It says it cannot load the recipes that I just paid for. I feel like I was robbed. I was so excited for the recipes, and I thought the price was great for Angela’s recipes. I want my money back for this garbage app I wasted my money on! The creator’s should be ashamed of themselves.
Not very user friendly
I love Oh She Glows recipes but i find this app very cumbersome to use. If you choose filters they stay there all the time until you change them. Very difficult to find specific recipes such as "muffins" or select by ingredient as all the other apps have. Needs a huge makeover. Also the initial page makes no sense to me. It should take you to a choice of type of recipe you are looking for.
How do you find anything on your app
Was expecting her full library of recipes not a small selection
Just purchased and looked through this app, getting through all the included recipes in under 3 minutes. I'm super confused as a long time reader of her blog- I have way more of her recipes saved in my rss reader that I saved for free! Why on earth not include them for your paying subscribers? Not even really worth taking up space on my phone. And an "extra pack" of a whopping 5 recipes for extra $$$? What is this a kids' game? Highly disappointing.
Piece of crap
What a piece of crap! I just purchased this app and I can’t even use it because it can’t download any recipes. Just keeps saying try again later. So then I went to the support area and it’s broken! Clicking the button to send the support request doesn’t even work. Then I went to the website and the website is down in the app section of the website…
Ridiculous.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
