Onstar sent me a letter dated March 2, 2007 to let me know they are dumping all Onstar customers with analog devices. Onstar suggests I purchase new 2006 or 2007 GM vehicle as a remedy. Onstar knew when they put the analog system in the vehicles that the system would be going digital, they started putting in digital compatible systems in 2002 for 2003 vehicles. This will lower the value of the vehicle for resale not to mention no more service for cell phone or Onstar. Onstar and GM offer $500.00 off a purchase of a new 2007 vehicle, big deal. Why would anyone buy another GM product after being treated this way. I am sure I am not the only unhappy Onstar customer.
I purchased the extra minutes approx. a year age. I didn't use all the minutes but they wont carry them over to this year. Very poor I paid for them why can't i have them.
I have an 2005 XLR with 6, 834 miles on it. I was insure of when my warranty ran out and called a Cadillac dealer in my area. They said not to worry that GM would send me the information on buying an extend warranty when it was needed. Well guess what! The company that is going bankrupt yet giving it's CEO millions of dollars a year for failing
to keep the company afloat did not contact me. My warranty has run out and now I have to take my car in and if they find ANYTHING a miss
it will not be covered. They only ask $2, 046.93 a mere bag of shells for this. No wonder they are failing. What don't they understand about customer service? you know they make money off these warranties and yet they don't have a plan in place to contact their customers?
They try to say the reason their in trouble is because of the workers. What a load of stuff that is. I travel a great deal and see new GM plants in third world countries working people for $4&$5 an hour. They have no OSA to protect them from dangerous working conditions, no benefits and we still pay through the nose for these cars. I have driven Cadillac's for many years but the next car I buy will not be a GM car. Of course they really don't care. Did I hear they were buying another struggling car company? They want to show how fast they can sink two company's.
On Star is one big joke. Okay, you buy a brand new vehicle, OnStar good for a month or so BUT and if you want to keep it you pay 39.99 a month (yikes). It was an automatic charge to my credit card that I Never gave them the # in the first place. But charged nevertheless, tried to canx, but they said cannot be repaid.
Ok, never did receive a welcome aboard, nothing about the service...what do they do? Never any kind of acknowledgement that they were serving me. There is a button above the rear view mirror they say that you press twice above to activate the service...but if you do not they AUTOMATICALLY charge you from the initial purchase of the vehicle. wha? enuf...
Received a message in my Equinox I had Zero Minutes. Called OnStar and was informed Hands Free Calling was discontinued since the Transmission Lines have ended. This creates a serious Safety Hazard to make a call and to receive calls using my cell phone which is Illegal.

My, elderly, mother has had Onstar for almost 8 years and relies heavily on the Turn by turn directions. Today she was informed that she MUST have a smart phone in order to continue using it. SHE DOES NOT HAVE A SMART PHONEAND DOESN'T WANT ONE!
I think this is a horrible move for people like my mother and I will be sure to spread the word.
