I rent an apartment and noticed my water bill getting more expensive. Since everything was working I didn’t pay attention to what could be the cause.
On November 23, 2024 I woke uo to take a shower and noticed that there was no hot water. I proceeded to check the sink in the bathroom then the one in the kitchen. Both had not hot water. I deduced that it had to be the gas and a leak might be involved. So I called piedmont and told them about the possible emergency. When the technician arrived he inspected the outside meter and mentioned he did find a small leak, but it wasn’t large enough to be consuming the amount of gas the meter was reporting. I let him inside the apartment to check the water boiler. Immediately he saw that it had a leak where water was coming out. It turned out the water boiler was running water and gas 24/7. I immediately checked my piedmont account and saw that it had been going on since September 2024. I reported the water boiler to my property manager and they assured me that they had dealt with the exact same issue and could help me reduce my $864 bill because I wasn’t at fault.
The property manager gave me their contact information to give to a piedmont representative to have this issue resolved. When I called piedmont gas on December 09, 2024. They were unwilling to reduce my bill even after I got the property manager involved ,because she had already dealt with this before, they also denied her and said they had never reduced or subsidized bills over matters where the customer is not at fault for the has that was used.
For now I have canceled my services and will not pay them until the bill is at a reasonable price.
Desired outcome: I would like my bill reduced to the therms I normally use monthly which is 25-45 therms not 227 therms.
