If you just say 'No Thank You' to the nice guy dropped off in your neighborhood to sign you up for free estimates for new windows, you will not have to endure the experience my husband and I went through recently. Please note, after the fact we read the reviews for the company on various websites -- the bad reviews were very similar but I will take this one...

Power Home Remodeling theft

We had Power Home Remodeling Group install new windows in our master bathroom. After the installers left, we found several pieces of jewelry missing from my wife's jewelry box, and my teenage daughter's bedroom was search. Please be careful before letting these people into your home! Remember, they have your address.

Power Home Remodeling stay away

I have worked in the marketing department out of power windows and sidings cranford nj office for almost two years (the guys who knocks on your door or approaches you in BJs.) Power windows is not a bad company, in fact, they are a very good company that's treats it's employees very well. They are, however, a first-call-close sales organization, just so happens they sell windows.

All of their products are top of the line as far as quality, warrenty an especially energy efficiantcy. Sure it's gonna be a well dressed salesman at your home and not bob villa, but what company could possibly survive giving free window and siding estimates in this economy? Gimmie a break people.

I graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's from a major university, and because of the economy I couldn't find a job...doing anything! Having worked various jobs since I was 15 I was prepaired to take any job I could find. Growing up in northern nj you develop a stereo type for door to door sales. However, not only does this company offer a fair pay structure, and they actually pay you, they offer full health and dental benefits and a 401k...to knock on doors. The run several promotions through the year and have an amazing Christmas party that p diddy would be proud of. They also do a great deal of charity work and have been featured of extreme home make over and recently on NBC Philly when they completely re did and elderly women's home after she was diagnosed with a life threatening ailment.

So to all you people out there spending all their time and effort trying to bad mouth this company, GET OVER YOURSELF! The fact is that the economy is ### and will continue to be ### for the forseable future. So the next time someone knocks on your door or stops you in BJs, don't brush him off like he's some scam artist. The truth is tht he's probably a college graduate, or a father, someone with bills to pay just like you, and goals in life. We all need to take a step back and scrap the door to door stigmata because frankly it's the people like us who hustle for a living tht made this country great once, not you miserable greedy ### who backrupted the country so you could be a little richier in your sad little world. Everyone should have to do door to door sales at some point in their life, it teaches you a whole new perspective on people, and just how cold thy can really be.

Former Marketer here as well, door to door does definitely give you a different perspective on people. But the job is still a thinly veiled pyramid scheme and they are scam artists. Scam Artists all the way from their job postings, interview, meeting rhetoric, and marketing/sales pitches.

I agree 110%. People who think working for a door to door company is easy should get over their ego! Some people have to actually work for a living in this country.

Power Home Remodeling liars!!!

Ok..So I let this guy into my home...that was a bad move...unless you have 3-4 hours to blow...do it and look puzzled...I dont know much about windows but he sure educated me in the first 2 hours...started measuring my windows...have a heat demo with glass...go thru his binder and paper falling out of it...showing a finished product and the window fram broken...great just great...now the calculations...20k plus...and by the way I live in a townhouse complex...very informative but here is where I caught him in a freakin lie...I did my homework on your company Power Windows...today is July 21st...and your sales rep was raving that you were in good terms with the Better Business Bureau...You guys were REVOKED on April 28th 2011! I dont know how many times I had my arms crossed...I think that means Im not interested in body language...the guy tried I admit...he even talked about his family, his whole life story! With the 20k plus you charged me for windows I should have charged the water I gave you to drink!

Thanks but no Thanks!

I experience this same harassment on Saturday. They were in my home for over 6 hours trying to convince me to take their services. I told the sales guy that I needed time to think about it and he stated that the price will go up by $5000 if I didn't take advantage of the first call offer. This company is a fraud and SAMS should have never let them in their stores to harass their customers.

Power Home Remodeling job proposal / estimate

Power Home Remodeling Group is a very unethical company that doesn't truly know what exactly they are doing when it comes to their craft. I recently reached out to them for an estimate on a siding job on my home. It turns out that the exterior walls of my home were actually drywall rather than wood boards. During the estimate visit, the sales rep stated that it wasn't necessary to to replace the exterior drywall with wood boards (although they could for more money). He went on to state that they would simply wrap the existing drywall with their barrier wrap and simply install the foam-backed siding on the walls; never guaranteeing that they would aim for the studs. I have years of experience in performing my own construction both interior/exterior as well as plumbing and electrical. It never made any sense to me that leaving the drywall would be fine but they insisted it was. After it was clear that I wasn't convinced of the proposed job, the sales rep insisted that their lifetime warranty would cover me on any future calls for repair. This clearly was an attempt to sell their job through their warranty rather than quality as if I don't mind having someone constantly come back to fix their own mess. What makes this company even more flaky was the fact that they only give you that first visit to accept their original price. In other words, you HAVE to accept the price the day of the proposal. If not, and you decide to call back after getting some other estimates, they give you a higher price. What ever happened to competition and competing for business?

Here's a couple of factors to consider when dealing with this company. The salesman will be in your house the first time for 3-4 hours. You must accept the price they give you that night and close on the contract. If you decide not to, and want to seek some other estimates to compare (like a smart consumer would have the right to do), then, beware, returning back to them will cost you more. They tend to punish their customers for not accepting the initial offering price. They'll tell you that they spend all of this time in your house because they want to explain everything to you and make sure you are comfortable with making the decision to invest in a major project like this however it is not okay when you would like to take the time to compare prices and proposals. This tactic is in place because Jeff Kaliner and his company know they cannot compete against others. They know they will be under-bid and out-performed. There truly isn't a need for them to lock you in on that first night (although, it is nice for any business to do so). Why would they do that? Your materials aren't ordered. There is still another visit that needs to be made by the job foreman to conduct another final and official measure (and that was scheduled 3-weeks later). So, why the need to lock a customer down on that first night or make the price even higher if they decide not to but come back later? They train these young kids through an assembly line process and get them out in the street to sell their product, never having any type of experience in the construction field. Then, comes the pricing. They're prices are astronomical! The foam-backed siding they offer carries an R-Value of 4 to 4.3. I recently signed with another contractor (after canceling my contract with PHRG) and will have 5/8 in thick wood boarding installed, green guard wrap and 1 1/2 in thick foam boards installed (R-Value of 5.0), and brand new siding. Price came out to $13K. PHRG was going to charge me over $20K just to wrap the house (over the existing drywall) and install the foam-backed siding. Also, if I wanted wood boarding on the walls of the house (which is what it should be) then that would bring the price over $30K. Oh, and by the way, the contractor I chose to go with allowed me to go and continue comparing prices and proposals. They're price, remained the same weeks later. Finally, their ethics come into question here. They insist that they have financing available (which the APR is over 12.00%) and insist not to take any money up-front. They'll tell you that you have that option or you can finance elsewhere. I chose to go elsewhere and, next thing I know, my credit has been run. I insisted for them to not run it and, Mike, the salesman, had it run after telling me he wouldn't. Now, my credit took a hit for that. The explanation that their VP gave me when he went to my house to work on the cancellation was that they needed to know what type of customers they were dealing with. That, just because the house looked nice from the inside and out didn't necessarily mean that the people living there were in a position to afford a job like this. I truly felt insulted! I'm still even considering to seek some type of legal consent or advice on this matter as such an action and statement to justify it were totally offensive and inappropriate.

Dealing with Power Home Remodeling Group taught me valuable lessons on what to watch out for when dealing with contractors. I know there are people out there that may have had a good experience. That is because a company cannot survive on rendering the experience that I had with them, to all of their potential customers. So, at some point or another, they have to do a good job in order to sustain their existence. Please, do not go with this company. If there is anyone that is considering it, please feel free to contact me.

I strongly do not recommend this company. Further, they'll try to sell you the idea that their foam-backed siding allows the house to breathe when others don't. This is truly amusing. Try telling that to companies that have been in the insulation/foaming business for decades such as Owens-Corning. If that was the case, the majority of houses in America would be having a serious problem. I strongly do not recommend Power Home Remodeling Group.

My wife and i planned on getting our windows replaced and when the sales man from Power home remodeling group came to our door, we figured why not get a quote. He said it would take 15 minutes if you knew what you wanted and an hour if you had a lot of questions. I use to sell windows so i knew what i was looking for and figured 15 or 20 minutes to get a quote wasn't bad. So the guy comes and measures every single window in my house after i told him a few times they were all the same size. Of course this was after a 20 minute presentation on the company. 3.5 HOURS later and he finally gave me a quote. Then he seemed confused when i was not ready to buy windows right then. All i wanted was a quote. He assumed i wanted to buy and just kept trying to get me to purchase windows right then. He was nice enough and the windows did seem like they were pretty good, but don't bother having them come unless you have time to waste or are ready right then to buy windows. Also the sales guy that came to our door said the quote was good FOREVER and when i got the quote it was only good for a year. They clearly do not talk and it was nothing but a huge waste of my time.

My wife and I made the most rookie of mistakes we have ever made. Everything you have read is true about this company. After (what we now know was calculated) 3...

Power Home Remodeling lied about how work would be done

Salesman assured me that the entire window frame would be removed. It was not. Smaller windows were installed inside the original frames making the frames wider and the windows smaller. They look like crap and have devalued my custom build stone rancher. This is trailer park technology and we will probably end up in court. I am so upset I can't sleep.

Apparently "PWS GUY" thinks that just b/c the economy sucks we should feel sorry for the salespeople and drop $20k + on windows or siding we don't need. And for what- a shoddy product and sloppy installation? No thanks. Andersen or Pella, 10 times out of 10.

I understand your side of this, trust me I am in customer service and deal with all kinds of people. But, beside that they are a great company to work for and spend my hard earned dollars that I paid them on a great party for you, the customer is usually left high and dry. They make us feel that they got our money and then disappear. Great employer, bad customer service.

And it's people like you with your vulgar language and attitude problems that all these costumers are complaining about.
The company is great to employees, sure... But you and I both know how poorly we're trained to treat the people we talk to.
###, in several of the meetings our regional manager would tell us NOT to give the customer a choice and find any way to get them into the sale.

So yeah, PWS is, and forever will be, a poor excuse of a company with jacked up prices on slightly above-average products.

Power Home Remodeling no means no

I agreed to a "free consultation" for new windows at my home. 4 hours later, the sales person was still in my home. I told him no a number of times and finally agreed to the windows after I learned I had 3 days to cancel my order. You can't order the windows without signing up for a high interest credit card. The application for the credit card was processed before my 3-day cancel option was over and I now have a new credit card that has negatively impacted my credit score. No means No. I don't care if this is the best window in the world; the company's selling tactics are OBNOXIOUS and Wrong.

My husband and I met with a wonderful sales person on Friday after Thanksgiving from Power Home Remodeling Group in CT and Mike M. was wonderful. He walked us through everything and wanted to be 150% sure that we were certain about purchasing our windows. There was no pressure at all and I never thought I would say this about a sales person, but he was down to earth and very easy to talk to. The consultation did take 4 hours, but I knew how long it would be since I questioned it before I even scheduled the appointment.

Why in the hell would you agree to apply for a high-interest credit card in order to get windows you didn't want in the first place? Just tell them no and to leave. And if they don't, call the police. Simple as that.

Power Home Remodeling I love power windows and siding

I have been working for the company for over a yr now and I love it!

The funny thing about comments is that you can never really know what the true intention of the writer is. I see so much hate e-mails about my company. Unfortunately people are very lazy in writing letters that highlight how happy they are with there jobs. I have been doing this job for over a yr now and I am proud to say I work for the company. I can't tell you how many houses where we ended up doing a part of the job and I am called back to do the rest. I have seen first hand the impeccable quality of the work our installers do.

By the way we offer what is called the Power Wall system- it is only sold as a complete system with the contoured insulated backing, so that post where we installed siding without it, is obviously a plant from an independent contractor trying not to go out of business because he can't compete. I am sorry but the best push the rest out of the field and that's the way it is. The simple fact is that we would not be the forth largest contractor in New Jersey if were weren't delivering what we promise to our consumers. Simple fact.

I have a funny story, I went to a house a few weeks ago to give a quote for siding. The gentleman was an installer for a company that will remain unnamed, but he did windows and everything else for them. I was shocked to find this out since his very house was literally falling down around he and his wife. The first thing I ought was wow, what kind of work does this guy do? He is a good representation for what this industry is, the reason why we do so well is because of the high standards we require as a company. Good Luck and realize that you can't please all the people all of the time, but we get pretty close :)

I agree people like to complain for no apparent reason, so I gave it a try and had power Windows and siding come to my place for an estimate. They gave me a bad impression of their organization such as poor business practices and poor business conduct. When I cancelled they sent somebody out to do the cancellation, what business does that in the first place! When the person came out, I kept him outside and I'm glad I did because when he knew he wasn't' getting his way he got angry. Nobody needs to slander that operation, they do a well enough job on their own. People do try to warn each other about outfits such as this company. Give them a try and you will also understand why people are complaining about this organization. The consumers need to stick together so others don' t get hustled or scammed.

Power Home Remodeling don't spend the money!!!

I agree with the complaint from NY! Very long sales pitch. I bought it though and had the first half of my home's windows installed. The installer was wonderful, very clean andd thorough. Two weeks later the other half goes in. Entirely different crew to install the big windows. Left nails in the driveway, did not clean up inside nor the windows themselves. The screens were not square and the material to finish my large front window was cheap and caved in shortly after install. I called, called again, left emails, finally gave up. Miraculously, I get a phone call a little over a year after my installation to see how I like my windows. I told him my story and he made an appointment right at that time to send someone out. He said he wants me to be happy. The story I got from that representative is that a year had passed and I was out of warantee! Well I was under warantee when I was calling, hello! I was told the screens are made purposely not to fit and he told me to just spray insect repellent if I didn't want bugs in my house. Are you serious? Told him thanks for nothing, feel completely ripped off! Don't spend the extra money on their energy efficient windows. You will never save the money they claim, unless of course, your insulation throughout your house as well as your doors are completely air tight!

Just got 2 phone calls back to back. I politely stated to both people I will never use PW&S ever again and have told everyone I know not to bother as well. The response I got was thank you and goodbye. Neither seemed to be concerned I was an unsatisfied customer, didn't care why either. Hmmm...makes me wonder what percentage of calls to previous customers have the same end result!

HAHA windows for $100. I have worked in the home improvement industry for 10 years. Andersen/Pella windows will not cost you $1500 per window. $300 new Construction and $500 replacement (Andersen). Going install prices go for about $250 to $400 per window. Andersen/Pella replacements are 100 times better than power windows windows. Power windows= vinyl...

Power Home Remodeling unethical business practices

Met Power Windows & Siding at a home show, the representative told me we could get a free Window estimate. Told me, and I quote, "A free estimate, no obligation at all, everything will be done from the outside, no one will come in your house". So I figured, why not, I will get the free estimate, and then decide what I want to do. I made the appointment for a Thursday. PW&S then called me on the Tuesday of that week at 9:45am and asked me if the sales person could be there at 11 that morning. ( I since noticed they had called 4 other times that morning, never left a message - I was out). I said that the appointment was supposed to be on Thursday, not Tuesday. She said that was OK, but the guy was in the area, he could come at 11. I said that was OK, but I had to be somewhere at noon. She said, "Maybe Thursday would be better, he might take longer than an hour". That was their first mistake, as I found out later their appointments last an average of 6 hours, as mine did. Lying to me right off the bat means you are trying to maneuver your way into people's houses any way you can, because if you told people the truth, no one would let you in. Talk about unethical. So we had a huge snow storm, and they called later that day to cancel for Thursday and told me they would call the next week to reschedule. So Thursday comes, and then PW&S calls me at 11:20 on Thursday and said the sales person would be there between 4 & 5 that day. OK, so now I'm starting to get irritated - you can't even schedule an appointment right, how much are you going to screw up my window installation if I go with you? So I just agree to it, let's just get this over with, after all, I'm still going on the first guys quote that no one will come in my house, everything will be done from the outside. Fast forward now, the sales person is here for 6 hours, my dinner that is only partly made burns, every time we ask him how much longer he is going to be he says "15 minutes or so". He even says if I wanted to finish dinner and set an extra plate for him he wouldn't mind! So now to their product - I have no doubt they have good windows - but are they unique? I doubt it. We went to a local hardware store the day after (not a big chain one), and talked to the guy there. All vinyl windows are fusion welded, and believe me, we could not break the one at the hardware store, either. The salesman from PW&S must have picked up that sample of the screwed window from the local Five and Dime store. Most windows have Argon Gas in them, and again, to say that other windows only have a small percentage of Argon gas in them, you can't generalize like that, unless you got that window at a Five and Dime. The windows we looked at the local hardware store had the same quality locks, child locks, etc. as the PW&S windows. So don't be fooled into thinking their windows are so unique and superior. They are not, and the ones at the local Hardware store also qualified for the 2009 Energy Tax Credit, given only to windows that have a U-Factor of less than or equal to .30. If you listen to the sales pitch of PW&S, they will tell you that no other windows fit into this qualification. The windows we found at the local hardware store DID. PW&S has a double lifetime limited transferable warranty? Yes, but not unique - so did the windows at the local hardware store, and that was just one store we went to. 30% Energy savings guarantee at PW&S? Yes, but the local hardware store gave us 45% guarantee! And here was the clincher - the sales person went on and on about them being members of AAMA, and how there installers were trained by AAMA, yet nowhere on AAMA's web site is PW&S mentioned, and if you search on AAMA's web site under their member search area, you can't find PW&S. Now, PW&S will also give you a sales pitch on how they are members of the Better Business Bureau, and all their complaints have all been resolved, blah blah blah, yet, he failed to mention that their BBB accreditation expired on 12/31/2009. I'd say that all this adds up to a lot of unethical business practice. If your product is that good, it should sell itself, you shouldn't have to deceive people to this extent to get them to buy your product. And then there was the old come in with a huge price, give a good 10% off, then offer half off if you sign right then! So 6 hours later, after walking THROUGH my house and measuring, which is totally NOT what the person at the home show had said would happen (and I was not prepared for someone to be IN my house at all, especially for 6 hours), the only thing I have to say is yes, they may have good windows, but they are extremely over-priced, their business practice is unprofessional to say the least, and there is plenty of other windows out there with the same features, if not better, and much MUCH more reasonably priced. Do your research!

I live in NJ as well and unfortunately had Power Siding and Windows replace my living room windows.---WHAT A HORRIBLE DECISION THAT WAS! The representative who did the presentation to my fiance and me LIED (yes, lied) about the process in which the windows would be put in, the financing process, AND the structure of the windows! After receiving a mysterious credit card in the mail with 23.99% interest rate, I called the credit card company and they told me that this credit card was ordered through PS&W! I immediately called the representative that we spoke with numerous times. However, this representative (who also is a head representative in the sales department) was close to impossible to get in touch with. When my fiance finally spoke with him, my fiance told him about the inconsistencies that occurred and the representative told him that, and I quote, "I don't care what the customers think. I finished the sale. You can talk to the people in the office now". Although I attempted to make complaints with a supervisor, there was no one in the office who seemed interested enough to assist me.
When my windows were put in, the workers ripped apart part of my dry wall around the windows. The workers pointed out to me that one of the windows that they received to put in for me had a crack in the plastic side and they would come back to replace the window. Even though the windows were NOT the windows that were described to my fiance and me as the ones as we were getting, we tried to find the positives in having these windows. PW&S had to come to our house 3, yes THREE, times to replace our cracked window; the first two times they came, the workers were given the wrong window. PW&S told me that when the workers came to our house to put in the new/not cracked window, they would also fix my dry wall that they ruined. This was a lie as well. I had to make a 4th appointment with this company for workers to come to my house to fix the dry wall. We had to keep our curtains down for over 1 month as a result of the length between the appointments to finally fix everything.
Months later, as the weather got colder, my fiance and I noticed a cold breeze coming from the window area. I again called PW&S about this, but had to wait 3 weeks for someone to come to our house to look at the problem. The worker found that the spackle around the windows cracked and told me that they had a "bad batch of spackle" at one point of time--hahaha--another lie.
Just 1 month after the new spackle was put on around the windows, my fiance noticed that our living room was feeling cold and the cold air was coming from the window area AGAIN! We found that one of our windows no longer latches unless we do not close the window all of the way or if we pull the window out of place--both options leave cold air blowing into our house. Well, PW&S pitches that their windows will help save electric bills--I can guarantee that their very poor products and service causes this to be a HUGE LIE! I will call PW&S this week, and can't wait to see what excuses they will have this time. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I had a similar experience with Power Windows and siding. The gentlmen who had come out for the free estimate didn't lease until after 11 pm at night when I had finally agreed to the contract after a long sales pitch and discounts which were only available that night if I signed the contract. There are low interest loans available through PA for energy...

I know its long, but please read in full to understand, thanks! I was close to getting the siding and everything done on the outside ( facade, trim etc.) And i got a quote of $51, 000. That’s when I said politely said NO THANKS! Then he said, "BUT wait, today only you can get it for $26, 000 bucks, complete, done, out the door!" So i told him to write it...

I was approached in my front yard by a very nice young guy with a company polo shirt and clipboard. He told me that they had done some work in the neighborhood and asked me if I wanted a free estimate for new windows. I said sure, not knowing what I was getting into. He placed me on the phone with a company rep who scheduled an appointment the following...
