Proxibid I will never use Proxibid again and I advise you not to also

I used Proxibid for about 2 years, and while a few articles were misrepresented, I purchased over $10, 000 in merchandise without a hitch. Easton Auction Company out of Ohio had an auction for China Panda coins. I bid on and won about $200.00 worth. I checked on Ebay to see what they were going for and noticed the ones from Easton did not have a denomination on them. They were counterfeit.

I notified Proxibid and they said they would open a case. Didn't hear from them for about 10 days and called and was told Easton said the case was settled, that they sent me an email, and closed case. Basically tough luck. They said they took the charges of fake coins VERY seriously.

Well, the company has a new auction with, , , , , fake China Pandas. I will never use Proxibid again and I advise you not to also.

Sure wish I had read your review about Easton Auction sooner. I got scammed also. I put this review on yelp.

I recently bid on and won a silver panda bullion coin, 1 troy oz.. When I received it in the mail I knew the moment I held it that i had been sold a fake. It was so light anyone who deals with coins regularly would also know it was a fake. When I called this auction company to let them know about selling me a counterfeit coin, I was pretty much told to pound sand. Any reputable auctioneer would have immediately apologized, been remorseful and offer to refund me my money. Not these scammers. There excuse was they didn't weigh it, blah, blah, blah. Very lame excuses for being in a business whose job it is to know value of items.
I've reported them to Proxibid and will also be notifying the federal authorities, as it is a crime to pass counterfeit coins from any where in the world.
Beware folks, if they will so blatantly try to sell counterfeit coins what other lowball tactics are they committing.
Along with their 17% buying premium I was charged an $8.00 handling fee to ship 1 coin and of course shipping costs. A 40.00 bid eventually cost me 61.00 plus for a counterfeit coin. They don't get any lower than this folks. Are these guys slimy or what?

Easton Auction House in Ross Ohio is also selling fake Pandora necklaces & bracelets. They call them "Pandora style" but in the photos that they show, they purposefully highlight the silver or gold bead that is stamped "Pandora". People are bidding big bucks for fake beads...some of them are plastic. Everyone using Proxibid for Easton Auction House needs to STOP bidding on the Pandora labeled items to send Easton a message. They have at least 10 to 15 of these Pandora items every week which makes you wonder if they are making the sets themselves...no consignor would put this much up for auction week after week. I would recommend steering clear of Proxi-bid & Easton all together.

I also have used Proxibid in the past and won a few items, but after getting them, I would say at least 50% of the auction items are fake. Having worked in China for several years, there is a market to create antique items by using acids and burying them in the ground to create an aged patina look to them. I've started taking a closer look at their lots and it's now apparent what they sell are counterfeit or fake. Not all the auctioneers are bad, some do appear to sell legitimate items, but for others, it can't be said. Nikki Dales and Quick 2 Sale Auctions seem to be the worst. People who are paying even $20 or more on an item, need to be either an expert on the item or best to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to "antique" items and jewelry. They know what they are selling are fakes, yet fail to stop it, nor do they give any great detail on the items themselves.

Proxibid Proxibid doesn't tell the consumer that they do not protect their buyers

Proxibid doesn't tell the consumer that they do not protect their buyers. They state they have a customer service and dispute resolutions center; but they do not exist. The customer service center simply takes your complaint and gives it a file number. That's it. If you escalate it to the dispute resolutions center, they do nothing, until you call them back weeks later to get the status of your complaint, and you find that while you're on hold with customer service because they were too busy to take your call, you receive a follow-up email from them stating that they are "really trying" to help you. Proxibid has no customer service support or dispute resolution centers; it is nothing more than a smokescreen to prevent any possible litigation against them. It's what you call "a good faith" effort. They will protect their auction houses, no matter how bad the reputation or how bad the quality of the items they sell in a misrepresented format via picture or in writing, so that they get their money. Claudia in customer service, Christina in dispute resolutions and Jason Miller, Manager do nothing but keep their buying customers in the smokescreen until it's too late to file a dispute with your credit card. Buyer beware.

Proxibid I recommend that no one should use this site if you care about being treated fairly

Proxibid is terrible do not use their site! they do not care about the bidder at all! I have bid over $10, 000. in 2011 and after several issues with items i had bids in for and did not win when i should have i will not use proxibid ever again. i have waited hours several time for item i was wishing to bid on and then something mysterious happens and the system is down or my bid does not register or some other ridiculous reason my bid was not acknowledged. They will always tell you there was a technical problem and the auction house will tell you it was proxibids fault. I recommend that no one should use this site if you care about being treated fairly!

Proxibid I had a very bad experience with Proxibid and I believe they took the side of their auctioneers over me

It's funny that the only people who give Proxibid a good rating are the third-party auctioneers. Their business is based to make THEM happy. The auction houses are their customers. If they don't get them to sign-up and sell through them, they have nothing to sell.
I had a very bad experience with Proxibid and I believe they took the side of their auctioneers over me. The auction house wrote their "rules" in the auction information and did a complete 180 from what they wrote. Having being charged an additional fee I did not agree to, they chose the auctioneers side, basically saying "that's the way it works." Just beware, if you're going to use Proxibid you may be on your own if anything should arise. I will never use their service again.

Just a total bunch of nitwits. In proxibid (who are there enough complaints written on this site as well!!) you are supposed to use the "pre bid feature" as a sub for the bidder himself. Meaning every time someone bids your PRE BID bids for you. But these dopes put my TOP bid in straight away. Plus they actually don't know the different between a Pennant ...

Proxibid gouging me with shipping fees

$195 for shipping a rifle to Alaska? You Have got to be kidding me.Proxibid needs a feedback system for rating Auction houses. One of the auction houses, Conastoga Auction co Inc, is triing to hit me with $195 bill for shipping a rifle to Alaska...the most I have ever paid before is $60...my problem is NOT with Proxibid, I think it is a great sight, my problem is with unscrupulous auction houses like Conasoga Auction Co. Inc

Proxibid Poor representation

I won a rifle on a live internet auction from Conastoga Auction Co. Inc I pay the 18% buyers premium, a $5 handling fee, and now they want to hit me with a $195 shipping fee. I do live in Alaska and expect to pay a bit more. So I figured in $60 for shipping ($60 is the highest I have ever paid) usually i can get one shipped up her for $35. My complaint is not with Proxibid, i think it's a great sight, IF I am not gouged by unscrupulous Auction houses like Conastoga Auction Co Inc. I think Conastoga Auction Co. Inc should no longer do bisness with the UPS store, drop their buyers premium to offset the high shipping fees.

Proxibid unscrupulous auction houses

Bought a 1894 winchester from them on a live internet auction, they sent it in a box 5 times to large so shipping fees were high, it arrived with a broken upper tang, no problem right? i'll just file an insurance claim with USPS tried to get them to send the insurance stub that USPS has to have...It took 4 phone calls to get them to send it and two weeks. When I first contacted them for a tracking # they told me no tracking # but here is a insurance #...Witch leads me to believe they new it was broken in the first place. Now USPS has denied my claim for shipping an illegal handgun, dunno why, I even sent them pictures of the rifle with damage as per their request. I WILL APEAL! My problem is not with Proxibid, i think it's agreat sight, my complaint is with Johnny's Estate Auction Service for sloppy bisness practices...

This guy is a rip off he charges 25% to the seller then charges another 15% to the buyer making his very large profit margin of 40% UNREAL I'd find someone else to do business with. I could add but I'll just close saying ebay is a far better deal.. at least you can set a reserve (which he wont do) also list almost EVERYTHING at 5.00 no matter the value.. I've only see a couple things listed higher.. again it's just bad business

Proxibid False advertising

I had purchased a small pendant through Proxibid’s auction from a company called Bunach Auctioneering that was advertised as being 14k gold. When I received the pendant, I was very dismayed to find that it was cheap gold colored plastic, not even gold plated.

Thinking that Proxibid would stand behind what they advertised, I called them and spoke to a Tom Clark. He basically said too bad, you bought it, you are stuck with it. I could not believe they would not stand behind what they advertised. Numerous emails went back and forth between Proxibid and myself and I even wrote a letter to the President of Proxibid and never heard back from him.

I contacted my bank and they said to send the pendant back, certified mail and they would reverse the charges off my credit card. I did this and charges were reversed.

I thought all was over, boy was I wrong. I started getting emails from Tom Clark stating that if I did not pay for the pendant plus “penalties” they were going to file with a collection agency and ruin my credit.

Here is an email from Tom Clark:

I strongly recommend that you make payment arrangements for the full amount plus penalties ASAP. Delaying payment can impact your credit histories for years moving forward.

Best,
Tom Clark

I sent emails and letters back and eventually called Tom Clark. He was very sarcastic and rude and laughed and me and said they would “ruin my credit if I did not pay for the pendant along with the penalties”. I told him I was not going to pay for a cheap piece of plastic that was falsely advertised as being 24 kt gold, and besides, I had already returned it.

Eventually, I started getting letters from collection agencies stating that Proxibid was the creditor and I owed them the money. I ended up filing complaints against Proxibid with Nebraska’s Attorney General and also the Better Business Bureau of Nebraska. If you go on the BBB’s web-site for Omaha, you will see they have numerous complaints filed against them.

I would strongly advise anyone from purchasing anything through Proxibid. Unlike Ebay, you cannot see the ratings of their sellers. Their sellers pay Proxibid to advertise their items on Proxibid.com. I found out later that the sellers can rate you, the buyer, and other sellers can blackball you if they don’t like your rating. But you, the buyer, cannot rate the sellers; how unfair.

My advice is to stay with Ebay where buyers can rate the sellers. Hopefully no one else has to go through what I went through. What a nightmare over a little plastic pendant.

I think that regardless of who is right or wrong if a company is going to provide a service that impacts two parties that the company should provide equal representation for both. It seems that Proxibid by their own admission is not on the buyers side. The post by Mr. Clark seems hostile and seems to portray the same tone towards the buyer that the buyer described. Of course it is always buyer beware but if you are going to represent the service for both then both should be protected... Bottom line

I had aDO NOT TRUST THIS GUY!‎

I purchased a grandfather clock thru one their online auctionhouses Auction Depot in Ft Worth Texas . They never disclosed that the clock was plastic and that it did not work. I feel they ripped me off by not offering full disclosure about the item. Then they over charged me for shipping a plastic grandfather clock. When I asked for my money back the owner basically blamed me for the entire thing. Then the owner of Auction Depot in Ft Worth Texas threatened me with court . I can prove they ripped me off for the shipping charges.

So I would say beware of anything they offer online. Only buy from them if you see it in person...and even then be very careful.
Proxibid offers no online ratings or reviews of the auction houses they let sell thru their site. Until they do stay away! When you tell them about a bad seller they just say" nothing they can do! They are paid by the auction houses not the buyers...so buyer beware~~~

Proxibid would be best described as an ASP or ASP model. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_service_provider)

We provide our technology to auctioneers to allow online bidding to occur in traditional auctions around the globe. Proxibid is a “conduit” that brings buyers and sellers together. While we earn a commission on every single items that sells on our website. We only make money when there is a happy buyer, seller, and auctioneer. If there is a problem with anyone in this transaction, we don't get paid. We are incentivized to addresses issues with auctioneers and bidders to ensure a successful transaction.

I have personally reached out to this bidder on much more than several occasions, beginning in March 2006, to help resolve his complaint. All of my attempts to help were rejected by this person. Additionally, his claims have been dropped as they are unsubstantiated to the BBB and the attorney general. Everyone that has reviewed this case has sided with Proxibid. This person is misrepresenting the case as his story is not supported by documentation or facts of any kind.

This person did file a claim with the attorney general as stated. We filed our reply to his inquiry on January 2, 2008. The attorney general dropped the claim as Proxibid was proved successfully that this person has misrepresented the facts surrounding the case. This person was unable to provide any factual information or documentation of any kind to support his claim.

Proxibid has been a member of the BBB since 12/06/2004 and we have an outstanding record that we are very proud of. The first filing we received on this issue was in 2006 and we received notice a second one in October 2007. We have only had 5 filings since we launched the company. Two of these filings were from this person. The BBB strongly agreed that Proxibid did everything that was possible to resolve this bidders issue.

In 2006, the year that this claim was filed, we conducted 1860 auctions, offering $968.619.067.69 in inventory, sold 77, 513 individual items to 17, 709 different bidders. We are currently doubling in transaction volume every 12 months. With this many transactions, I think our record speaks for itself.

Here are the 2 cases that he reported:

Sales Practice Issues
Administratively Closed
1 - BBB determined that despite the company's reasonable effort to address complaint issues, the consumer remained dissatisfied

Refund or Exchange Issues

Administratively Closed
1 - BBB determined the company made a reasonable offer to resolve the issues, but the consumer did not accept the offer.

Best Regards,
Tom Clark

Proxibid all items received broken

I purchased several items from the online auction proxibid, from auction a&w surplus. All items appeared to be brand new and all shown in original boxes, with no specific description other than the names of the items. Every one of the boxed items were received broken! Most of them cleared used and filthy, even appeared to have been dropped and broken and had several missing parts. When I contacted them, I was told "too bad, sold as is". I am out the cost of the items and the outrageous shipping for the heavy boxes shipped seperately.

Proxibid advises to always review a seller's terms and conditions prior to bidding in any auction. Should an issue arise, we recommend working with Proxibid customer support to submit a dispute. Our team works with buyers and sellers to help settle disputes in a fair and amicable way.

Update:I have been speaking with a representative with proxibid. she said that her company was very sorry about this incident and wanted to make amends. they have offered to refund all of my expenses in this transaction and an sincere apology. they understood my frustration and dissatisfaction. this came from proxibid, not a & w surplus. a & w surplus has yet to do anything about this and I strongly suspect they won't. crooked is as crooked does. I will continue to do business with proxibid, but I would advise anyone and everyone not to do business with a & w surplus and auctions.

I have recd lots of non working items all here just to remind me to stop buying from him. but the thing is that other than electronics he brings in some items that are at a great price, like detergent, clothes and all other kind of house goods. I have place my trust in him (owner) even though I have received from him lots of non working items sitting here just to remind me to stop buying from him. on his auction of 09/27/09, I purchase a 50"tv that he shows as on, a delicate way to tell you that you can trust on this item to work. the following info. is from the item history at auction //" is mark email to a friend this lot has received 14 pre-bids - lot# 149 high bid: $400.00 - watch lot sold - samsung 50"lcd hd tv on working - samsung 50" lcd hd tv on working // — I paid $400. for the tv, buyers premium %15% and 190.00 shipping. I have constantly ask him if the item is working and I am told, "it powers on!" - I complained only once of all the items I have purchased, first time I am doing this,. but I have question him about the shipping charges. we tried (my son and i) by all means to get the sound going on the tv, to no avail. got on live mail with a samsung technician that after a long chat, and a back and forth with my son who took over, samsung ruled out all the possibilities and gave him this final advised. -"I am sorry but it seems like your tv needs service because it has issue with the internal parts of the tv." it was at this time I just turned the tv off and email him /me: "we are here setting up the tv I purchase. everything is fine, but it has no sound. what do I do? -
A&w:responded"we have never tested for sound only for picture."however, for sound you can run through cable or stereo system." is this stupid or what? when you turn on a tv the first thing it does either no picture at all, or a heavy grey sound, just as the picture.
I just hope the damage does not turn to be as much as what I have already paid.// I am almost sure he is not going to reimburse me in any form or matter, just thought I tried. again, I have asked him about it and I cannot understand a word. this has to stop proxibid is an excellent live auction server, and he is going to take them downwith him. it is pitiful.

When their system crashes halfway through an auction August 14 2018 I lose a whole load of time incl research and money. The consigner loses money the auction company loses money. Their system has been down during the evenings and we all know what that means. Proxibid does some really cool marketing but who is going to make an effort to see of I'm put right? NOBODY, Im not a customer Im a victim! Tomorrow Baileys Auction house has the second part of their sale on Proxibd, so what am I supposed to do? Trust these people? You have to understand there is a whole load of time tied up with these things 2/3 hours plus research, what am I supposed to do? Peter [protected]

About Proxibid...first and foremost let me say that I have no connection to Proxibid. I, however, do have a very close friend who sadly passed away recently and he purchased many, many items thru Proxibid. I believe some bidders are not looking at what they should be looking at. Every seller that sells on Proxibid is rated by Proxibid. If you look at the seller you will see icons below their name which will inform you of their ratings. These ratings are based on buyers experience and not Proxibids. When you post a credit card with Proxibid to buy the seller does not see that info. When you make a purchase the seller sends the info to Proxibid and Proxibid runs the card. I do know from experience that my friend had a few problems buying on Proxibid and they resolved the issues for him. They sent emails to the sellers notifiying them that they had a unhappy buyer. I myself signed up for my own account on Friday, August 21. I had made two bids for a total of $180.0. I went to Walmart and left my wallet by mistake so I had to cancel all my cards, id, etc. I called Proxibid with only 21 hours left to bid and they removed the bids for me. I do not want to appear like one of those people that browse review sites just to make complaints. However, I can honestly say that I have never experienced any negative issues with Proxibid and my friend joined them in 2008 and had purchased over $10, 000 during his bidding era. His name was Larry Cadorette and my name is Jack Burden and I live in Fort Lauderdale. Thats just my two cents worth...have a good day all...

spotty. Someone set up an account using my information and big against me to raise the price.I received threats from Proxibid if

I have just been scammed by Milestone Auctions through Proxibid. I bid on a jar of marbles that was to be "vintage" and "excellent". When I got them they were broken, chipped, pitted and/or new. I asked the seller for a refund and was denied. Sent and email to Proxibid and was told too bad. I am now working with my credit card to see if I can reverse charges. Hard to believe in this day and age that they are allowed to outright lie, violate their own "policies" and no one holds the sellers accountable. They were supposed to have a signed authorization on file from me before my card was charged but they do not and charged it anyway. The seller's own terms say they have a 3 day refund window. Completely Fraudulent...stay away from them!

Fraudulent company...they back their sellers 100% so these auction sites can purposely mislead the items description, send broken merchandise and gouge you on shipping cost. If you are allowed to send an item back, they will keep the internet premium. This site needs to be shut down.

The are arrogant SOB's. The customer service is very bad usually since they hire people with an attitude to begin with or train them to act that way. They also hire people with accents so thick that they cannot be understood when speaking. Same people do not want to listen to the problem you have, they only want to talk over you. Really aggravating and when you complain they say they will not tolerate this kind of speaking or attitude when they caused it. Supervisors always back and take up for the pawns answering the phone, so if you have a problem with the pawn on the phone, a supervisor will just stonewall you. Tex-Mex-English is NOT proper English. When they cause agitation and anger for you, they act like they have done nothing wrong. I just loathe the ### because they would never talk and act like this if we were face to face. Cowards.

Put Alfred E. Neuman (for those of unknown brain matter Alfred is "MAD" magazine) and organized crime as a corporate entity and walla, you have Proxibid/Bidtrader corporate cronie crocket color-by-number; play-by-ear; unprofessional, make it by 30-40% confusion and maybe hit good sometimes. Absolutely NO buyer representation. No legal back-up for assuring a buyer gets a won item, let alone the correct one. I won a 2006 Ford rollback truck 3 days ago. Cash ready, on my way to get it (2 hour drive for me). Seller refuses to sell it at my WON amount. I received two "congradulations, you won!"; one from Proxibid & one from Bidtrader. Also, an invoice sent. If I refused to buy or pay for an item, they'd be threats all over. But, there is NO enforcement for buyers ready to fullfill their end of the CONTRACT. Where is contract law? Proxibid should have legal possession of the items, or legal immediate confiscation for the buyer (arranged with local police enforcement to meet/accompany buyerat location). Proxibid's REP, Jim Norris has no power, but I'm sure his paycheck is good. Talks on the phone with no ability to make good, and waste of time. The word, IMPOTENT comes to mind. Unfortunately, most bidders do not read these reports/consumer true stories. They'll learn the hard way I also had another vehicle "pull-out" two years ago when the independent auction house working through Proxibid, withdrew my 2 won items (On=line notification immediately notified I had WON; once, twice, last call; hammer dropped; boing u won! Never got my items. This auction process will never change. Ebay has its quirks, but nothing like these auction/concoctions. So, stick w/Ebay or known -previously success used sites.

Proxibid's servers are way too slow. I dont know why any auction company would do business with Proxibid. We have DSL and have tried to place bids on Insights and several other auctions. On Insight we were running about 2 minutes slow.
It is no wonder that auction companies sell so little on the live internet auctions due to Proxibid's slow servers. Proxibid forces you to turn a bid in the day before the live auction.
If you want to see how servers are supposed to work get on Richie Brothers live auction. It is like the difference between a model T Ford and a Porsche 911.
We just gave up and don't use Proxibid at all.
