Pertaining to the Burbank Location 1100 N. San Fernando Blvd.
I would just like to say first and foremost, that you GM, Jessica, is someone that should not be leading your business. She is one of the most unpleasant people I have had to encounter, and sadly enough the attached complaint isn't my first unpleasant encounter with her. I was shocked when she claimed that she is the GM of this location and going forward I never want to step foot into this location thanks to her.
I have included a brief summary of my experience shopping at this location earlier this afternoon. I have also taken the additional step of notifying Weights and Measures regarding the inaccurate information being presented and even shared by this employee.
I was shopping with my son, and after checking out and paying for my items at self checkout I noticed that my total was much more than I had expected, therefore I reviewed my receipt before exiting the store. I noticed that the Lays and Doritos chips that were on the weekly AD and also had signage indicating a sale price of $1.99 each when you buy 4 or more. I attempted to inquire about the sale item with an employee by the self checkout (older mid aged woman, did not get her name) and seemed to have struggled in understanding my question/inquiry let alone reviewing the receipt. Honestly feel that she did not take the time to fully listen to what I was trying to bring to her attention. After some time in trying to read the receipt, she got the help of another woman that later claimed she is the General Manager, Jessica. Who also struggled in understanding/reading the receipt or simply failed at listening to me. I had to point out to both that I indeed did purchase 4 or more items (I was the one that pointed it out on the receipt where the items were listed) of the chips listed on the ad. After sometime, I even had to convince the GM Jessica to walk with me to the aisle and attempted to show her the store signs, after I felt like I was being ridiculed/challenged for not understanding the AD or signage myself; even belittled. It was clear to me that this individual did not want to help resolve the situation — which does not only impact me but every single other shopper that steps into this establishment. I was livid by this point, having to convince the GM to walk one of her own customers to the aisle to sign one of her own signs, to which she then said that I "could not mix or match" which I pointed out to her that is nowhere listed on the AD or signage. I was beyond livid, and by this time cursing with how dismissive this Jessica individual was from the beginning of our conversation. The AD itself shows both the Doritos Brand and Lay Brand in the same photo. I didn't even have the chance to point out another misleading description of the Kroger 2L soda, the description on the receipt varies from the signage. The signage sale price being 4/$5.00 where on the receipt it reads 3/$5.00. This was not resolved, I was livid after my interaction with this Jessica individual, who even said under her breath "I guess someone is having a bad day" as I was leaving. I had explained to her that this was not my first interaction with her, I dealt with her attitude previously when asking for assistance in uploading a digital coupon during the summer. She claimed she did not remember to which I responded great, I will just send a complaint over to her manager to which she stated that she is the GM of this location.
This experience was beyond unbelievable and upsetting. And yes, my day was/is not the greatest due to this interaction because here I was trying to shop with my son for his groceries for the next couple weeks especially with Holiday Break; to which financially it is an extremely difficult time for me to provide food on the table. Maybe your GM may see the $1.99 price tag on a bag of chips as no big deal but to me these are the "luxuries" I can extend to my sons even through current financial hardships where the price difference of $5.49 per bag vs. $1.99 per bag makes a big difference in our household. I am not even in a position where I can buy my sons holiday gifts, and food/basic necessities being the "gifts" I can afford this time of year... such as a bag of their favorite chips.
So please do what you will with this information. Take this into consideration with what type of leadership you have representing your stores. I have no intention of ever returning to this location and will see to it that I share this with my community and necessary agencies to ensure that other consumers do not get treated or taken advantage of in the same/similar regards.
Recommendation: Be cautious before finalizing your transaction
