Exactly what I needed at a great price
Exactly what I needed at a great price. Bought both knock sensors and a starter for a 4.7 Toyota (***). Ordered the *** struts and *** for the rear. *** got a free *** compared to ordering anywhere else. Just got a new belt (5/24/21) too. Super easy to use website, just enter your vehicle information and they do the rest. Products came exactly as they should. Fast shipping too. Will 100% use them again.

This was first time I ordered from RockAuto. I do not understand the negative comments. I was able to find and purchase all the items I needed. On top of that an upper radiator hose did not come with the structure/protective sleeve. I used the RockAuto website and filled out the questions regarding the missing sleeve and the next day I received an email that sleeve was on its way. The items were easy to find and shipping was very quick. I will use RockAuto in the future and recommend it to peers/family.

I have made several orders with Rockauto and every one has been hassle free, website is pretty trouble free when looking for parts. one issue is when looking for a specific part sometimes it will not show as available but when you add the specific part# from the manufacturer it will be in stock just under another vehicle that shares same parts. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Durango for instance. Shipping is a little higher than others but I believe that is due to being shipped from multiple locations at times. Overall RockAuto has been solid to deal with.

I have ordered from RockAuto MANY times and have always been pleased with the price, service, and products I have received, and the speed of delivery. I ordered a brand name exhaust system one afternoon, and it was delivered from a local distributor the next morning by the USPS. I could hardly believe it. Also, I had a radiator fail and they replaced it under manufacturer warranty. I had to use the forms on their website, purchase a new radiator and shipping, and they provided greatly reduced shipping back to them. They refunded the price of the new radiator and the shipping, minus the $7.95 return shipping fee. Biggest pain was draining and repackaging the bad radiator in the new box to ship back, but it saved me a lot of money. I am sorry to hear that others have had problems. As long as I continue to receive good prices, parts, and service, I will continue to buy from them when possible.
Have ordered many parts
Have ordered many parts. Always faster on delivery than expected. Ordered pads and bulbs recently, pads expected the 20th...its the 17th and they are already on my truck, came in the 16th. All parts have fit, you just have to do your research on part numbers. YES, they could do better with filtering options through distinct vehicle information (ex: my 08 Silverado could have multiple configurations including different 5.3L engines). All of this helps narrow down fitment even with brake pads. Just research your vehicle by VIN its manufactures site to figure out its configuration, and order accordingly. They discontinued the OE pads for my model year, so I had to look at the brake system and such to make a good choice. Just take your time, they have a very large selection for most vehicles. They could also do better with part categories but that's not too bad. Rockauto...y'all writing this down?

Negative People leave Negative reviews, which in turn more more negative situations and more negative people to their lives. I have been buying from Rockauto since 2006, to date I have not had a single issue. This is because I know what I am buying, and from whom I am buying. Rockauto is not a physical store to go to crying about a return, like your typical auto part store. You gotta do things their way, and not yours. In the event of an opportunity, you simply request to cancel the order, return the part and try again, or do whatever your choose, Not crying online, like some of these Negati*** people. I expect you guessed correctly! Big Box parts stores which has caused this crying, and then lean in to give you a hug, and then take your wallet out of your pocket, which America has accepted for far too long, won't happen at Rockauto. Simply Put, It's GREAT place for GREAT Parts! Not forgetting you get what you pay for! Thanks. Navin Big Billions!
can't afford high shipping
I was going to buy brakes for my car but after the $80 shipping, it's cheaper (and way faster) to just drive two miles to my local auto parts store.
They were cheaper initially but the cost of shipping has gotten so bad I can't use them any more.
Too bad there is no way to tell them that they are losing customers.
It doesn't matter if you have the best prices if the shipping drives people away.
Recommendation: Go to autozone.
RockAuto Review: Cheap Prices, Costly Consequences
RockAuto is a website where you can find some of the cheapest prices for car parts. However, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. In my case, I ended up paying way more in the long run! I purchased a control arm that was not of the best quality. What I didn't expect was that when the control arm broke, it snatched loose my entire axle as well as other things underneath the car. A part that was $70 cheaper ended up costing me $500 more!
Getting a person on the phone was impossible. Even though I begged a supervisor to call me back, they refused. All they would do was answer questions. The bottom line was that they would only refund the control arm. Not the axle, bearings, etc. And the ONLY way they would refund the control arm was if I followed a list of instructions that read like a treasure hunt! I couldn't understand why they just couldn't get a copy of the receipt and a picture of the damaged part. But they requested the part back and all kinds of copies.
I don't have a copier machine at home and in a pandemic, it's not easy finding non-essential businesses. RockAuto would send a different complaint number with a form each time I requested a refund, but the form would expire within a day. So by the time I got to FedEx to run off the form and send back the funky control arm, the damn form expired and I had to start the process of requesting a refund through email all over again.
I contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for help so they would resolve the matter over the phone and stop the email tag-around-the-rosy, but they didn't care about BBB. They don't want to give you your money back when their products fail, so they make it as difficult as possible. They say it wasn't their products, but they should stand behind their stuff. It is their name that people know and trust. But they will not.
I should be able to sue RockAuto for all the extra damage caused to my vehicle, but in the end, I threw the arm away because I couldn't stand the thought of looking at something that caused me so much problem. When my car broke down, it was my birthday, and I was on my way to celebrate, so my entire special day was ruined. Then because of all the extra money I paid, I couldn't even make up the day. The cost and expenses set me back a couple of months. So my memory will forever be destroyed.
I had purchased items from them in the past, and as long as nothing went wrong, everything was fine. But businesses don't always run perfectly smooth, and when mishaps happen, they should stand behind their stuff and treat customers fairly. I will never ever order from them again. I will pay extra and order from a reputable shop where I can talk to people or walk inside a building to voice my concern and resolve issues.
RockAuto.com: The Best Place for Affordable Car Parts
Car troubles can be a real pain, especially when you're on the road and your car just won't start. It's happened to me before and I know how frustrating it can be. You start to troubleshoot and try to figure out what's wrong. Maybe it's bad gas, so you fill up your tank, but still no luck. Now you're stuck with a full tank of gas and a car that won't start.
I recently had a similar experience with my 2000 Caravan. It had low mileage and mostly sat in my driveway, but when I tried to start it, I knew something was wrong. I checked the fuel ports and the pigtail at the tank, but still no luck. I had that sinking feeling that it was the fuel pump and I just filled up the tank.
I did some research and watched countless YouTube videos. The first thing I needed to do was get a new fuel pump. I checked my local auto stores, but the cheapest one I could find was $100 and from brands I've never heard of. That's when I remembered RockAuto.com. They always have a great selection and better prices.
I found so many choices on RockAuto.com, from dirt cheap fuel pumps for $30 to factory Mopar pumps for $285. I decided to go with one in the middle that had good reviews for $65. I've changed a few fuel pumps on different cars before, so I knew to buy the filler to tank grommet when I ordered the pump.
When the pump arrived, I was ready to install it. The particular model I had was a plastic tank lengthwise with a plastic cap holding the pump in place. I pushed the van on ramps under the wheels, blocked up the car, and had a fire extinguisher handy.
I was unable to siphon any gas out of the tank, so I had to get creative. I ripped the wires out of the fuel pump leaving a hole just big enough to get a 1/2 inch hose fed into the tank. The plastic tank was empty and pretty light, so I decided to forgo the YouTube advice about dropping the tank and used a floor jack to undo the straps on one side and lower the tank just enough to slip the old pump out and the new one back in.
Getting the screw cap off wasn't easy and I broke a couple teeth off the cap, but with a strap wrench I found at Home Depot, it eventually turned. It took a while to get the van to start, but eventually, after a couple shots of carb cleaner in the manifold, the engine came to life.
This isn't the first fuel pump I've changed and it probably won't be the last, but at least I know a great place to get parts for my cars. RockAuto.com has a great selection and unbeatable prices. I highly recommend them for all your car part needs.
Review: RockAuto - A Great Resource for Car Parts, But Be Cautious and Pay Attention to Details
This website, RockAuto, is a great place to find car parts, but you need to be careful and pay attention to all the little details. It's not the easiest site to navigate, but if you know what you're looking for, it's a good resource. One thing to keep in mind is the brand of the part you're buying. There are many different brands available, and it's important to choose a reliable one. Don't just go for the cheapest option, as you'll often get what you pay for.
Another important thing to look at is the part number and details. Some parts are designed for specific locations on the vehicle, such as left or right, front or rear, or upper or lower. Spark plugs, for example, need to be the right depth. It's important to check these details carefully. Be cautious of alternate parts, as they may not always work as well as OEM-based models.
It's also a good idea to check cross-reference sites, such as AutoZone, to compare prices and find better deals. RockAuto has a wide selection of parts for many different vehicles, which is a big advantage. However, if you're not used to ordering parts online, it can be a bit overwhelming.
One downside of RockAuto is the delivery process. They use FedEx and USPS, which have a bad reputation for damaging packages. This is not entirely RockAuto's fault, but it's something to keep in mind.
Overall, RockAuto is a great value if you know what you're doing. Don't go for the cheapest option, and make sure the part you're getting matches the specs you need. If you're not sure, ask someone who knows. It's also important to make sure you have the full model of your vehicle, as some models differ in major ways.
If you do your due diligence and pay attention to the details, you'll get your money's worth. Just be aware that RockAuto has a 30-day return deadline, and you'll need to pay for return shipping. This is not like Amazon, where returns are easy and free. However, RockAuto sells parts at factory prices, which is hard to come by in online retail.
Review of Rockauto's Shipping Costs and Pricing: A Customer's Perspective
Dear Rockauto Service Team,
I have been a regular customer of yours and I must say that you guys have been good to me. It's difficult for me to say that about any business, so thank you. However, I have noticed that the last few orders are getting more expensive and the shipping cost is increasing by a lot.
Rockauto is an auto parts ONLY supplier, right? Specialized. Amazon, of course, is not. Seems like that would be a marketing advantage for Rockauto. In the case of this order I reference here, I saw three different shipping payments from three different warehouses, for 6 items.
Today, I ordered the exact same items I had in my Rockauto "cart" from Amazon. I will get it tomorrow and the total is $50 bucks less than the same order would have been at Rockauto. Based on my order, that represents 30% more if I get it from Rockauto and it would take a week to get it. We're only talking about a $150 dollar order. The amazon price's per item were a couple of dollars more than Rockauto's price's but I still came out way better with Amazon... and it will all be delivered by tomorrow, not in a week.
I hate amazon. I'd love nothing better than to use Rockauto than Amazon. It simply cannot be justified as it is now. Consider creating a flat shipping rate or provide free of discounted shipping to "prime" customers. I understand the shipping costs are great profit centers for people selling junk on TV adds but should not be part of an auto parts suppliers business model. The little fridge magnets thrown in the box are nice but not worth 30% and a week of down time.
You guys gotta do better. Until Rockauto changes this practice, it's Amazon and the local (albeit horrible to shop in) parts houses for me and my six vehicles.
Regards,
OZ
P.S. I'm sorry for any spelling or grammar errors, I'm not a professional writer.
Disappointed with RockAuto's Customer Service and Quality Control Practices
I am so disappointed with RockAuto. I have been using them for almost 10 years now, but I am seriously considering ending our relationship. I have been going back and forth with them over email, but all they do is copy and paste their policies. It's frustrating and exhausting.
Recently, I received a package from them with 3 fuel filters in plastic packaging and an air-filled plastic bubble thing to keep all the filters in place in the box. However, there were no other boxes included in the packaging. I understand that they have policies to follow, but I would hope that they take the time to reach out to the manufacturer and see if they have run out of boxes or are no longer using boxes. It's just common sense.
To make matters worse, I previously ordered a Gates timing kit for my 2002 Subaru Outback, and the Chinese-made thermostat shut closed after only 2 weeks, leaving us stranded in Texas. This forced me to buy a truck just so I could get home, and I'm still paying for that truck.
When I contacted RockAuto about the fuel filters, they asked me why there was a supplied plastic bubble in the box with the parts. Do they think that those filters could fit in boxes within the box they sent? Do they think the plastic packaging around those filters would slide into a box? How big of a box do they think they sent me? It's just ridiculous.
I spoke to a friend of mine who referred me to RockAuto almost a decade ago, and he reports the same issue. He says there is a likelihood that the boxes were scanned and then thrown away to use a smaller box to lower shipping costs. He also said that one time he bought a couple of shocks that were in two large boxes, inside a massive box, and how ridiculous it was.
At this point, I feel like I am being called a liar. We have a tree company, not a car shop. We have no reason to pull every filter out of every box and then try to ship it back. I always replace original packaging to any and every store. The total cost of the items I believe was maybe 20 bucks and 8 in shipping. Now, I spent another 8 bucks to ship it back. So what is really left for me? 12 dollars? At this point, it is not about the money. It is about principle. If they want to lose a decade-long customer over 12 bucks, then that is simply bad practice.
I would recommend that this email gets forwarded to someone in management. It's time for RockAuto to step up and take responsibility for their mistakes.
RockAuto Review: Poor Customer Service and Core Return Issues
I wanna talk about my experience with RockAuto. I bought some new brake calipers and a master cylinder from them on May 14th, 2022. The total cost was $421.47. They also required me to return the old calipers on my car as a core fee. The front calipers had a core fee of $16.00 each and the rear calipers had a core fee of $27.00 each. Once they got the old calipers, they would give me back the core fee.
I had some issues with the order. The left front caliper was mis-boxed and had the wrong part. The right rear caliper was also a problem. But I didn't have any issues with the front right and rear left calipers, so I sent them back to RockAuto for the core return. They offered me the option to ship all three together since I had to return the mis-boxed front left caliper. I chose that option and printed the shipping label they gave me along with a shipping list that showed all three parts. I put the list in the box as they asked me to do.
A few days later, I got a core refund for the right front caliper but not the left rear caliper. I checked the website and it said that I didn't ship it, but I did. I contacted them a few times and they kept saying that I didn't select the check boxes to include that caliper. But the shipping list that printed with the label showed the left rear caliper on it, along with the other two items. They also didn't acknowledge that their warehouse personnel didn't notice the third caliper in the package. I don't get it.
They have one of my calipers in their warehouse and I didn't get the core fee for it. I want my $27 back. The core return is in their warehouse somewhere. I've spent thousands of dollars with them in the past two years, but this is the first time I've had to deal with their customer service. It was terrible. They only send brief emails and you can't talk to someone on the phone. They don't seem interested in helping me out and they rely too much on their internet system. They also don't acknowledge problems with their warehouse personnel. If something goes wrong, it's too bad.
If they don't fix this soon, I won't do business with them again. I can't trust them to make things right if something goes wrong, especially if it's not my fault. I've read other reviews and it seems like I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with their customer service. They need to do better or it will catch up with them.
RockAuto's Refund Policy is Unfair and Inflexible - A Warning to Potential Customers
I made a mistake and ordered the wrong part from RockAuto (let's call it Part#1). When I checked the estimated time of arrival, I found out that USPS had not received Part#1. Normally, I would have waited for it to arrive, but I have head and neck cancer and it is crucial that my car is operational so I can get my treatments. So, I followed RockAuto's instructions to get a replacement part (Part#2).
A few days later, Part#1 arrived at my door, along with an email demanding that I either return it or pay for Part#2. However, USPS had not yet received Part#2, so I waited for verification before making a decision. I eventually decided to pay for Part#2 when it arrived.
Unfortunately, my mechanic informed me that I had actually ordered the wrong part, so I had two parts that I didn't need. I contacted RockAuto about getting a refund, but they said they could not refund Part#1 because of their 30-day limit on refunds. They also could not mail me a shipping label for Part#2, which meant I couldn't get a refund on that one either.
I understand that it may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but it is a significant amount for me. I also find any complication in my life to be extremely painful. I feel it is important to warn others about the way this company does business.
If you are considering ordering from RockAuto, I suggest reading customer reviews on their site. If you can't find any, there may be a reason why. Don't be taken in by them.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

RockAuto Review: Late Delivery, Poor Customer Support, and Shipping Refund Scam
I recently made a purchase for a replacement radiator on March 1st from RockAuto (rockauto.com). Their website provided me with a few options for delivery, so I went with the most expensive option ($83) for a DHL delivery on March 3rd. I thought I was dealing with a respectable company, but unfortunately, the shipment didn't make it on time. When I called DHL, they blamed RockAuto for being late in providing the part.
I tried to find a customer support phone number, but I couldn't find one. Their corporate number recording also stated that they don't do customer support calls, only email. I sent an email to their customer support, but all I received was a pre-written message with made-up names. It was frustrating because their customer support had only one job, which was to blame anything and everyone but RockAuto.
I called DHL Express back, and at least I got somebody who was helpful. He acknowledged what happened but couldn't give me an ETA on the part's arrival. He explained that there would be a refund if the part was late, but they could only issue it to RockAuto. The part finally arrived very late on the 7th of March. Unfortunately, I had already lost my paid appointment for the install, and I had to pay for four jars of antifreeze until the replacement was done. On top of that, this radiator turned out to have a transmission fluid portion as well, so by Thursday, the car had given a fault because the Transmission fluid was low. I didn't know that, but again, four liters of ATF came very hefty on top of the losses.
The customer support at RockAuto stole the shipping refund to themselves. I raised the issue for a refund on the shipping with PayPal, but they wanted me to ship it back at my expense first for only the shipping refund. It was frustrating because I felt like I was being scammed.
In short, if I had gone with a local store, it would've been much cheaper. I'm lucky because I had a great mechanic who was able to fix the new part and now the car is safe to drive again. RockAuto claims to have a warranty, but I only pray I don't need to use it and deal with them again.
Please beware and use any other option. I've been rudely scammed by them, and if you have to use them, just pay the least amount while expecting the worst. This is an incompetent company, and that's what you should expect from them.
Poor Customer Service and Blame Deflection at RockAuto
Like many others, I had a less than satisfactory experience with RockAuto. Their customer service reps are quick to deflect blame and deny any wrongdoing, even when presented with evidence to the contrary. This is concerning, as it means that mistakes will continue to be made at the expense of the customer.
In my case, I needed a left side headlight. I found one on RockAuto for $100, which was cheaper than the right side headlight at $200. I placed my order and received a shipping confirmation email, but noticed that the part number was incorrect. I immediately contacted customer service, hoping to rectify the mistake before the part was shipped.
The first CSR I spoke to was unhelpful, insisting that I had ordered the wrong part and that it was my mistake. I pointed out that I had been charged $100 for the left side headlight, and that the right side headlight was $200. If I had ordered the wrong part, why was I not charged $200? The CSR had no response.
I escalated the issue to another CSR, who claimed that their prices change constantly and that I must have ordered the wrong part. I pointed out that the current price on their website was still $100, and that their explanation made no sense. The CSR then accused me of opening the box and realizing it was the wrong part, even though the shipment was still in transit and I had not taken delivery of it yet.
In the end, I had to sell the incorrect part on eBay and buy the correct part from Amazon. While RockAuto may have hard-to-find parts, I would still recommend going with Amazon or eBay for their faster shipping and better customer service. Paying a little more for peace of mind is worth it.
RockAuto, please listen to your customers and take responsibility for your mistakes. Your business model will not be sustainable in the long run if you continue to treat your customers poorly.
Disappointed with RockAuto's Shipping and Return Policy: A Consumer's Review
I recently purchased an item from RockAuto and was disappointed with the excessive shipping and handling fees. The return shipping cost was almost half of the original shipping cost, which made me feel like RockAuto was trying to make up for the low price of the item by charging extra for shipping. Additionally, when I received the item, it was not in its original packaging and was missing clips and cotter pins.
I ended up buying brake pads from Napa Auto Parts instead, where I was given the correct parts for my truck and all the necessary hardware was included. My friend suggested buying car parts from Amazon.com due to their free return policy, which made me wonder what RockAuto will do to stay competitive.
As a consumer, I don't want to take on all the risk when purchasing auto parts. I could go to a local store and avoid the risk of excessive shipping charges, or I could shop on Amazon.com with their free return shipping policy. RockAuto's return policy places all the risk on the consumer, which is not ideal.
In another instance, I ordered brake pads for my 2003 Toyota Tundra 4.7 V8 from RockAuto, but the box I received contained the wrong brake pads. The brake pads were not in their original packaging and no retaining clips or hardware were included. I shipped the pads back to RockAuto, but they made me pay for the return shipping. I trust that they will refund me the cost of the brake pads, but I am concerned about the return shipping cost and the original shipping cost totaling around $13. The mistake was RockAuto's, not mine, so I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake.
If RockAuto wants to keep my business, they need to stand behind their work and take responsibility for their mistakes. I hope they will refund me the original cost of the brake pads, as well as the original shipping cost and the return shipping cost. Otherwise, I will have to consider taking my business elsewhere and warn others about my experience.

BBB industries Reman Steering rack
Received part was not same part number (older version) of my existing part. Wa nted to immediately return it for refund. The Rock auto "returns' website is Klumsy and ineffective.. a Joke! It locked onto not what I wanted and it proved impossible to fix my input error = No return for refund was possible. Lovely! There is NO way to access Rock Auto other than their messed online forms. Consequently I installed the steering rack as result. Today, after a Half days' use (~25 miles) it's pissing out PS fluid from it's bellows.. the entire contents of the reservoir.. It's a Garbage quality reman.. How surprising. I suspect the things' main seal is erm.. Broken.. OR installed backwards.. if at all? As anything is possible.
Desired outcome: A refund.. as I wanted initially on opening the delivered Package. The MFG's warranty is 3 years. But with a total failure within it's First half hour's use. Not something I want to gamble on.. Again.
RockAuto Review: Poor Customer Service and Shipping Delays
I've been using RockAuto for years and I have to say, things have changed. It's really unfortunate. I can't even remember the last time I had to contact them for support, but when I did, I had to prove that something was wrong with the part or that it was under warranty. I get it, but now it seems like customer support is non-existent. They used to ship really quickly too. I would get my items within a day or two at the latest. But now, it's a different story.
I ordered a part on Saturday, July 30th and a label was created the same day. But it was never picked up. It's now Wednesday and it still says "shipping label created" but "not accepted by Fedex." I found an old email to contact them for refunds and asked to cancel the order since we expected the part yesterday (Tuesday) and yet it still hasn't moved. The employee said it has been picked up, it's just not in the system and that you can no longer cancel because it's not at the warehouse. Hmm, sounds familiar. We were told we must wait until August 9th, if the package is not received, to open an investigation. Well, after calling Fedex today (Wednesday, August 3rd), it turns out they do not have the package and only the shipping label was created. It's nice to be lied to. Five days and only a shipping label created yet the part was expected to be delivered yesterday, August 2nd. So they lie to customers to avoid order cancellations and now we will need to spend more money to buy elsewhere and have it arrive in a day.
If we don't get any more responses via email regarding the request for cancellation, then I will be contacting the state Attorney General's office in Wisconsin to at least let them know about the unscrupulous practices of this company and also take up a dispute with our bank.
Maybe they don't have customer service to keep the prices down, but prices won't matter when you lose customers.
I also see they got no customer service. It's impossible to reach them. They sent me wrong part for my car, even if it was specified that it was standard part /fit. Also return is on our bill when they did wrong. Return cost 4 times the part.. And then what? Order a new one and hope for the best? When finding parts for our car we need to be specific about Chevrolet suburban 1500- 5,7 Vortec. Should be right part when advertising it's standard. It was not. And it's impossible to complain. I used them for years and has been a valuable customer , but it is when you get trouble you see how less valuable they really are... I think I will not use them again.
Buyer Beware: Rock Auto's Customer Service is a Nightmare
I just had another run-in with Rock Auto customer service and I am beyond frustrated. I even deleted my account because of how terrible my experience was. Don't get me wrong, if you receive your order in good condition and never have to deal with their customer service, you'll probably think they're great. Their prices are unbeatable, except for their shipping charges on multiple items. But if you ever have to return an item or deal with their customer service, prepare for a fight.
First of all, any savings you thought you would get by using Rock Auto will disappear. You might even realize that you would have been better off buying from ANYONE else. And don't be surprised if they insist that you pay for return shipping even if they ship you something other than what you ordered. It's hard to believe that ANYONE in business can survive with a policy like this.
Let me tell you about my last botched Rock Auto order. I ordered a Denso fuel pump that was listed in their online catalog for my application. I specifically avoided cheaper pumps, such as Walbro, based on my 30 years of personal experience. But what did I receive? A Walbro pump in a Denso box. If I had wanted a Walbro pump, I could have gotten one in a Walbro box for $20 less than the Denso. The failed pump I was replacing was, no surprise to me, Walbro.
I contacted Mario at Rock Auto and he claimed that Denso informed him that this type of part substitution was common practice at Denso. But when I contacted Denso America and Denso Japan, they told me that Mario lied. Denso America even referred me to their online catalog for proof that they don't offer a fuel pump for my application. I explained this to Mario, but he still insisted that I would be charged for return shipping anyway. They only refunded $57.42 of my $68.68 purchase price. So, BUYER BEWARE: if Rock Auto makes a mistake, the customer will pay for it, literally.
I can't help but wonder what would happen if you ordered a lug nut and Rock Auto shipped an automatic transmission in error. According to their policy, the customer would be responsible for return shipping charges. One thing is for certain: Rock Auto would NOT ship you that lug nut until they received their transmission back.
In conclusion, I would not recommend using Rock Auto unless you're willing to take a risk with their customer service. Their prices might be low, but the headache and hassle of dealing with their customer service is not worth it.
RockAuto Order Review: Delayed Delivery and Shipment Journey
I recently ordered three parts from RockAuto on Saturday, August 21 and paid for expedited shipping to be delivered by Wednesday, August 25. However, it is currently Saturday, August 28 at 3:30 PM and only one part has been delivered. The order number is ***.
I was a bit disappointed with the delay in delivery, but I understand that sometimes things happen that are out of our control. The part that was delivered was left at my front door without signature service, which was not requested. I hope that the other two parts will arrive soon.
Looking at the shipment information provided by FedEx, it seems that the package has been through quite a journey. It was picked up in Mabelvale, AR on Monday, August 23 and arrived at a FedEx location in Jersey City, NJ on Wednesday, August 25. From there, it was in transit to Walbridge, OH on Thursday, August 26 and then to Perrysburg, OH on Friday, August 27. It finally arrived in South Bend, IN on Saturday, August 28.
There were a few shipment exceptions along the way, including a weather delay in South Bend, IN and being in transit in both South Bend and Walbridge. It's understandable that these things can happen, but it would have been nice to receive more updates about the status of the package.
Overall, I still trust RockAuto as a reliable source for auto parts. While the delay in delivery was a bit frustrating, I understand that it was likely out of their control. I appreciate the detailed shipment information provided by FedEx, even though it was a bit confusing to read at times. I look forward to receiving the other two parts soon.
Buyer Beware: My Experience with RockAuto's Customer Service
If you're someone who likes to fix your own car or just needs some auto parts, let me give you some advice. I'm an avid online shopper and have had my fair share of issues with parts being damaged or incorrect. However, I've purchased from RockAuto several times and have never had any problems. Recently, I bought a part for $605 from RockAuto, but I made a mistake and ordered the wrong part for my vehicle. When I received the part a few weeks later, I realized my mistake and tried to contact customer service through their website. Unfortunately, the customer service was extremely limited and I couldn't find any similar situations to mine. So, I requested a return authorization and printed the document that was sent to me. I shipped the part back and waited for a response.
A week later, I received the same box that I had shipped back to them. The return was rejected because the box had become damaged during shipping. The quality of the box was questionable to begin with and it didn't fare well after the first 2,000 miles. I tried to contact customer service through email, but I received no response. There was no way to call and speak to customer service either. So, I'm out $509 for a part that doesn't fit my vehicle.
My advice to you is to stay away from RockAuto and do business with a company that has customer service to deal with any issues you might have. It's frustrating to spend so much money on a part that doesn't work and not be able to get any help. I hope this review helps you make a better decision when it comes to buying auto parts.

I also received wrong fit, but It was not my order that was wrong but their spesificarion saying it was standard fit and it was under my choice of specification Chevrolet suburban 96 modell 1500, 5,7 Vortec. And reaching any customer service is not possible. I used them for years and have been a valuable customer. Now they tell me they are not valuable to me anymore.
RockAuto's Misleading Listing and Poor Customer Service Experience
I recently purchased a full set of fuel injectors for my car from RockAuto. The website listed them as brand new and the O.E. part for my car. However, when I received my order, I was disappointed to find that only three of the injectors were new and one was clearly used. The used injector was packaged in the same box as the new ones, which led me to believe that RockAuto had received a return on a faulty injector, but instead of returning it to the manufacturer, they simply repackaged it and sold it as new. This was unacceptable, especially considering that each injector cost over $120.
I immediately tried to return the used injector, but found that the process was not as simple as I had hoped. RockAuto's website only allows returns through drop-down menus, and I couldn't find the reason for my return listed. There was no option to type in my specific issue, and I was unable to find a phone number to call for assistance. After some searching, I finally found an email address and contacted RockAuto for help.
Unfortunately, the response I received was not helpful. I was simply told to use the website for returns, even though I had already explained that the reason for my return was not listed in the drop-down menus. After several more emails back and forth, I was finally told to put the used injector under "defective returns." I tried to do this on the website, but the system was confusing and I was unable to complete the process.
At this point, I was frustrated and wanted a refund. However, RockAuto required me to mail the used injector back to them at my own expense before they would process the refund. I was not willing to pay for their mistake, so I contacted them again and asked for a shipping label and a new injector to be sent to me. Unfortunately, RockAuto refused to fix their mistake and I was left with a used injector that I had paid for as new.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my experience with RockAuto. The website was difficult to navigate, there was no phone number for customer service, and the company refused to take responsibility for their mistake. I would not recommend this company to anyone and will not be doing business with them again.
Disappointed with RockAuto's Customer Service: A Review
I've been using RockAuto for a few years now and I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with their customer service. As a licensed auto tech who's semi-retired, I take care of a small fleet of vehicles for my farm, family, friends, and neighbors. I've spent over $20,000 with RockAuto in the last 2.5 years alone, and I'm only in my mid-30s, so I've got plenty more spending left in me.
But when I recently received a wrong part (a timing belt) as part of a big kit that included a water pump, tensioner, and pulleys, I was pretty frustrated with how they handled it. I had already installed the rest of the kit on a Saturday and went to put the last part on, only to find that it was too short. It came out of a factory-sealed box, so it was the packers at Continental who were to blame.
When I contacted RockAuto about the issue, they wanted me to disassemble everything I had already installed (with high torque lock-tighten bolts into aluminum, mind you) and send it all back to get a refund and wait about 10 days to get another belt/kit. That would have disabled the vehicle and taken up a lot of time and energy, not to mention the potential cost of a rental car. And to top it off, the local belt I had to buy at the dealership was 5 times the cost of the one I had ordered from RockAuto, which threw my estimate out the window.
I told RockAuto to keep the money for the belt instead of refunding it, and I won't be recommending them anymore. They sold me the wrong part and made it my responsibility to deal with it, even if it included huge inconvenience, cost, time, and energy. They need to look at the bigger picture sometimes and realize that keeping a loyal customer happy would have been a big win for them. Now, I'll be ordering my parts from PartsAvatar.ca instead.
I also received wrong part/wrong fit . Waterpump to Chevrolet suburban 96 model, 5,7 Vortec. It was listed as standard part for my car but was wrong. They have no customer service to take care of this issue
RockAuto's Shipping Needs Improvement: Damaged Batteries and Poor Customer Service
I placed an order for two ac delco 94ragm batteries on rockauto.com about three weeks ago. I was pleased to find that they had the best price and had them in stock. When I received the batteries, one was in good condition, but the other was severely damaged and unusable. I filled out the return form and sent it back to the warehouse. Unfortunately, the second battery was also damaged.
I reached out to customer service and Jarvin apologized for the inconvenience and offered to refund me the full amount of the damaged battery and send me another one at no charge. I was surprised and happy with this outcome, but unfortunately, the third battery I received was also damaged. The Fed Ed driver told me that the box was busted wide open and the case of the battery was cracked and leaking. I refused delivery and had him take it back. I hope that the warehouse receives it in a few days.
My 2018 Ram 3500 Dually requires two batteries to operate, so my truck is still waiting for the undamaged second battery to arrive. I have been emailing back and forth with customer service, asking them to properly pack the battery in something other than the thin cardboard they are using. The weight of the battery during shipping is too much for the cardboard to handle. Optima uses a foam wrap that works great, and I suggested that RockAuto consider using something similar.
I eventually spoke with Mark S, the manager, who informed me that they would not be sending me another battery and asked me to send back the first battery that was never damaged. I explained that the issue could be resolved by properly packing the battery, but none of the associates addressed the actual issue. Instead, they delivered another battery in the same condition. I feel that this issue needs to be addressed so that RockAuto does not lose product and possibly future business.
It is frustrating that there is no phone number to connect to customer service, and all communication is done by email, which can take a few days. In the end, I still need my second battery, and I hope that RockAuto can find a better solution to resolve this issue. Despite the shipping problems, I appreciate the great prices and product availability that RockAuto offers.
Disappointing Experience with RockAuto: Wrong Parts and Poor Customer Service
I recently purchased a water pump for my 1997 BMW 540i with part number ***3340 from RockAuto. The picture on their website showed a water pump with a metal propeller, which was the reason I paid a premium price for it. However, the part I received had a black plastic propeller instead. I contacted their customer service to exchange it, but they said they didn't have any in stock and offered to exchange it for a cheaper one with a plastic propeller and refund me the difference. I was not satisfied with this and requested a complete refund, as this was the third time in less than four months that I received the wrong or defective parts from them.
Another issue I have with RockAuto is that they don't list the country of origin of their parts on their website. It's only when the part arrives that I find out it was made in China, even though the previous parts I bought were from American companies. The water pump I received was supposedly made by Behr, a German company, but it was made in Italy. I paid a premium price for a water pump that was made in a country known for producing low-quality products and had a plastic propeller that would likely break in a few months.
I'm extremely disappointed with RockAuto's customer service and the quality of their products. They expect me to pay for return shipping and not even compensate me for the time lost. It's despicable that they send wrong and defective parts all the time and don't take responsibility for it. I will never use RockAuto again and warn others to avoid them. They had one chance to give me good customer service, but they failed miserably. Their representatives didn't even bother to read my emails or investigate the issue properly. It's pathetic.
Disappointing Experience with RockAuto: Received Wrong Part and Poor Customer Service
I've been a loyal customer of RockAuto for more than five years now and I must say that I have always been satisfied with their service. I have spent over $10,000 with them and I have never had any major issues with their products or customer service. However, my recent experience with them was completely unacceptable.
I ordered a fan clutch for my Mercedes and I specifically requested for an original Sachs made in Germany. I checked their website and saw that they had several options to choose from. I was able to identify the Sachs brand from the photo and I ordered it from RockAuto because I trusted their shipping to Canada and I needed the part as soon as possible.
When the package arrived, I was happy to see that the packing slip indicated that the fan clutch was made in Germany. However, when I opened the box, I was disappointed to find out that the part was a cheap knock-off made in China. I was really frustrated because I needed the part urgently and I had to order another one from a local supplier.
I tried to contact their customer service but I was informed that they had discontinued their customer service reps last fall. I was really disappointed because I needed their help to resolve the issue. I decided to start the return process and requested for a refund of the part price, the shipping fee, and the return shipping fee because they sold me a part that was not as described.
Their customer service responded quickly but they refused to take responsibility for their mistake. They insisted that it was not their fault and that I had to pay for the return shipping if I wanted to return the part. I was really frustrated because I felt like they were blaming me for their mistake.
After several attempts to resolve the issue, I decided to file a claim through PayPal. I am still waiting for the outcome of the claim but I am really disappointed with RockAuto's customer service. I hope they can improve their service and take responsibility for their mistakes in the future.
Disappointing Overnight Shipping Experience with RockAuto.com
I ordered a part from RockAuto.com and paid for overnight shipping because I needed it before leaving on vacation. However, the tracking status showed that the delivery would be made on the day of my departure. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated as I had paid extra for the overnight shipping. I contacted the customer service and expressed my disappointment. They apologized and refunded me the difference between the overnight shipping and the two-day shipping that I would receive. Although I appreciated the refund, I was still not satisfied and demanded a full refund of all shipping charges. The customer service representative explained that the standard shipping would not have made it in time and refunded me the difference between the two shipping methods. Although I was still unhappy, I appreciated their efforts to resolve the issue. I received the credit for the shipping charges and will not be doing business with RockAuto.com again.
RockAuto stole money
On or around May 8th rockauto's took 80 something or 79 something dollars out of my bank account and refused to refund me the money and I don't even own a car I contacted them because my bank because I don't know how they got the number or what but my bank declined the refund so I called them they said to call my bank and then they told me they didn't even have my debit card on fall but it's clearly you can see that it was took out of my bank account they just stole my money you can contact me at [protected] or Leanne Lackey [protected]@gmail.com all lowercase
Desired outcome: I want my money back my power was shut off now I've got to come up with another $200 deposit
Melling timing chain
I bought a melling timing chain kit for a 2007 ford expedition. It to a while to get my car into the shop. After installation it took just starting it and running the motor to find that the driver side timing chain tensioner was faulty from factory. I requested a refund from rock auto on the 40th day as it was still applicable. While requesting the site switched to 41 days and a refund was no longer available! I had to buy local parts and rock auto wants me to just warranty the parts until I get a good set? I can not keep paying labor rates for [censored]ty parts rock auto give out.
Desired outcome: I just wanted a refund as I was still within the refund period and have documentation to back it up
Bendix brake pads & rotors
The bendex brake pad lasted 8 months and the brake lining on one brake pad fell off of the brake pad backing and ruined the rotor and they want me to buy more brake parts or send them the defective brake parts at my expense and if they decide to warranty the defective parts. Thay want me to pay for 1/2 the cost of shipping to send me the warranty parts. And in the mean while I am stuck with a broken car until thay decides to do what ever thay want to do. I am a ASE Certified mechanic for 25 years in those 25 years. I haven't been treated so poorly by any bissness. This is safety concern this could have killed people vary easily. I think that should be Rock Auto's first priority is safety of there customers. So with that being said just maybe thay need to sued or held accountable for the defective parts and there suppliers.
Desired outcome: Replace the part at no extra charge.
Chiseled out of a refund
I ordered on 2/20/23 (and received) L & R front struts from Rock Auto. The right strut bolt pattern was slightly larger around than it should be and did not fit. I went thru the return process, lugging the 32 lb. strut to Fedex to return to Rock Auto. I received an email on 3/6 from Rock Auto that the shipment was minus 3 mounting nuts and that I either send them to them within a few days or I will not receive any refund. Both strut boxes were identical-Monroe. Only 1 strut came with the mounting nuts. Apparently, I used the 3 nuts from the right strut on the left strut that fit my vehicle and I am unable to return them to Rock Auto. The strut that was returned was guaranteed to fit my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. It does not fit and I am being burned out of a $69.79 refund because of $1.00 worth of nuts. The only other option is to pay $24.00 to have the strut that doesn't fit shipped back to me. I lose. Some consideration should be given to me as i am out my entire purchase price for a strut sold to me and guaranteed to fit by Rock Auto that doesnt fit.
Desired outcome: At least a partial refund for the majority of cost for the right strut that doesnt fit.
Ordering and pricing
Just tried placing order with rock auto. Always been happy previously but not today. Placed order for parts for 2005 f350. Completed order and noticed one of my parts was not there. Looked for way to contact them and nothing. Canceled my order and went to reorder everything and saw that dorman coil bracket jumped in price from 74.99 to 89.99. Also when I was reordering everything missing coil insulator was still in my cart. Very frustrating that a large company in this day and age has no customer service department. Through other internet search I was able to find their number to corporate office, again no customer service. My only option was to leave a message. I did receive call back in about 15 minutes. I was given an empty apology and I say empty since no solution was given to problem. No way to uncancel order and no way to add missing item to it. Just very disappointed that I've spent about 2 hours now with this situation. Also I immediately canceled order and checked my bank account to see that a hold $336 was already posted to account. Frustrating that when you place an order money transaction is immediate but when canceling it takes much more time to come back.
Desired outcome: $100 credit for waste of my time
Late part arrival and the order was incomplete.
At Rock Auto I placed an order for two front struts for an Acura ILX , 2.0 Base model. I ordered on Wednesday 25 January 2023 and paid the express shipping charge of $61.99 so I would receive the package by Friday 27 January 2023. The package did not arrive on Friday 27 January 2023. The package arrived on Monday 30 January 2023. The outer package was damaged, opened and retaped. On top of that only one of them arrived, FC 1334086R. The one that did show up the number on the inner box was IATF 16949.
I would like to send both of them back to Rock Auto but I only received one of the two I ordered.
As a result, I had to purchase two struts from Napa, so I could get the work done on Saturday 28 January 2023

The Dual Battery Control Module
I purchased a DBCM on 11/4/22 for a 2015 Malibu and paid $125.73. It shipped within couple of days and was installed. However after installation, I still had the same problems (P305F, check engine light). Continued diagnosing to determine if it might be a wiring problem, a battery needing to be replaced, a bad fuse, drive time that needed to be performed, module programming... I finally scheduled with a mechanic who said the module Rock Auto sent me was defective. Rock Auto has only one option which is to request a replacement to then return defective. You have 30 days. I don't want a replacement. I called Dorman but they don't offer warranties. There is no resolution for me or refund. I would not recommend!
Desired outcome: A refund
