Worst job ever
My time as a Department Lead at Rural King was, unfortunately, marked by a consistently challenging work environment primarily due to ineffective leadership at the store level. While I took pride in supporting customers and assisting where needed — including regularly covering registers and addressing floor needs — these efforts were often overlooked and, at times, penalized.
The store manager demonstrated a consistent pattern of micromanagement and disrespectful behavior. Communication was often condescending, and feedback frequently took the form of belittlement rather than constructive guidance. There was little understanding or appreciation for the real-time demands placed on employees, and when tasks couldn't be completed due to customer-facing responsibilities, it was common to receive lectures rather than support.
This experience taught me the importance of healthy leadership, mutual respect in the workplace, and clear, empathetic communication. While I value the lessons learned, I hope Rural King takes steps to foster a more positive and supportive management culture moving forward.
Recommendation: shop anywhere but here

While shopping at Royal King in Bluefield, WV, a situation arose that left me feeling disrespected and unheard. Despite trying to address the issue calmly, I was met with rudeness and confrontational behavior from the staff. It was surprising to learn that the individuals involved were the HR and operation managers of the store. As a CEO myself, I believe in upholding high standards of customer service and professionalism.
It is disheartening to encounter such behavior in a retail setting, especially from those in leadership roles. I firmly believe that respect and courtesy should be fundamental values in any business. I have taken steps to address this matter through legal channels, as I believe such conduct should not be tolerated. I urge those who value ethical and respectful treatment to consider shopping elsewhere.

I was at Rural King in Zanesville Ohio Friday 29th. 2022. I was needing assistance with a purchase and help loading purchase. Ally was so sweet and helped me with everything I needed; Ally and another associate Stephanie loaded my purchase into my truck. Both of these young ladies were professional and very helpful. And I wanted them to be recognized as exceptional employees.
Always a great purchase
I am a regular customer of Rural King stores in Cross Lanes, WV and Ashland, KY and Gallipolis, OH. Never had an issue in store or with any purchases besides a really cheap Remington weed eater. It had issues from the start and the guys in Repair dept at Cross Lanes, WV fixed it for free and they weren't under any obligation to even fix it. Online purchases have always come on time as ordered.

I ordered an atv sprayer and there was a snafu with the manufacturer, and it didn't arrive. I contacted customer service and they promised someone would call me back. They did, and it was Jennifer Tucker. It was obvious that she had real concern that my experience so far was less than satisfactory. Miss Tucker went to work, and contacted me every step of the way. Jennifer didn't make things right, she made them better than right. Because of this young lady, The Rural King site icon will be on my Homes screen. Great Job Jen!
Great store
Logansport Indiana store is he best store around. Manager is on the floor helping customers find items. They have face masks available for customers. Employees and management almost always wearing face masks. Store is usually organized. Some of the employees need to be better at assisting customers but that is everywhere I shop. Rural King has just about everything needed and most of the time it is cheaper than Wally world better known as walmart. So if a customer has bad thoughts about shopping at RK, try Logansport store. They are the best. Spread the word.

Got a side by side at Rural King (E-town) had issues with it. Took it to Glasgow Rural King. They worked hard to fix the issue. As they fixed the issue they found another issue with it. I returned it right there. The staff were outstanding and very understanding. The Company paid off the loan and sent me e a check for the payment I had made, all was completed within one week. I never had to call to see what was the problem. They took care of me. If all companies would take care of their customers as Rural King did, we all would be better off. Thank you Rural King and my hats off the staff at the Glasgow Rural King. I will shop there as long as I can, once again thank you all

I have not been able to logon to my RK account in about 3 weeks. At least 5 times I do get a password reset code only to find out it is already expired. I called in once again today and was told I should have a new code emailed to me in "a couple of minutes", It has now been an hour and 5 minutes and still no email.
I am pretty sure that if the CEO had to deal with this problem, it would have been resolved already.

Dear Sir,
The reason for this correspondence is to attempt to find a solution for a problem that started at your Monaca, PA location in 2022.
In March of the year, 2022, I delivered my John Deere tractor to the above location. The reason was the bottom seal on the motor was leaking oil onto the belts. There was nothing else wrong with the tractor. Three or four months later, the mechanic called me and stated that the compression on the engine was down 30%. Even though my yard is level, I told him to go ahead and make the necessary repair. Another six months later, I went in person to the store and the head mechanic and some of the mechanics had quit and they would have someone else work on the tractor in a timely manner. After much time and nothing being done, in the spring of this year, 2025, I was told that pieces from the "governor" were missing and now the mechanics didn't know how it would all go back together. I spoke to the new store manager, and he said that perhaps "we" could make some agreement in response to the fact that the tractor is not working, and they don't know how to get it running again.
The manager hasn't contacted me since that day. I believe he wants me to come and pick it up and just forget about the whole thing. It was a good tractor before I took it to them. I paid $3500 for it 20 years ago and it cut my 1-1/2 acres of grass without any problem.
The mechanic said the lawn mower runs great, however without the "governor" it runs so fast, it has to be shut off or it will self-destruct.
If this happened to you, what would you do? This is the kind of thing that goes on below your radar.

I've been a fan of Rural King for a while now, and I have to say, they usually have some great deals. But during the lockdown, they had a sale that really caught my eye - a 14ft trampoline for only $199! I knew my daughter would love it, especially since she's turning 11 next week and we're all stuck at home.
Unfortunately, when I went to my local store, they didn't have any trampolines in stock and said they weren't getting any more. So I decided to try ordering one online. And boy, was I in for a surprise.
First of all, the trampoline itself was a steal at $199. But when I went to check out, I was hit with a shipping cost of $244! That's more than the cost of the trampoline itself! I couldn't believe it.
I understand that shipping costs money, but $244 seems a bit excessive. I mean, it's not like I was ordering a car or something. And with all the other taxes and fees, the total cost came out to over $500. That's just not feasible for me right now.
I really wanted to give my daughter something fun to play on during this lockdown, but it looks like that's not going to happen. I wish there was a way to have the trampoline delivered to the local store for an in-store pickup, either for free or for a small fee. That would have made things a lot easier and more affordable for me.
Overall, I still like Rural King and will continue to shop there. But I hope they can find a way to make their shipping costs more reasonable in the future.
Disappointing Online Ordering Policy: My Experience with Rural King
I gotta say, I'm pretty darn disappointed with Rural King's online ordering policy. My family and I were trying to stay safe and avoid going out too much, so we decided to place an order online. We were charged the full amount on our credit card, but then out of nowhere, they canceled our order! Can you believe it? I recently bought an Electrical Fence system and a solar charger from Rural King's website, ruralking.com. Unfortunately, the solar charger didn't work from the very beginning. I tried to return it within a few days, but the girl at the service desk told me that I needed to let the battery charge out in the sun for a few weeks to make sure it would work correctly. So, I did as she said and waited patiently for the battery to charge.
However, when I went to return the product, the same girl at the service desk told me that they do not accept returns after 30 days. I was shocked and frustrated. I had followed her advice and now I was stuck with a faulty product. What the heck! I was told to give it a few weeks to charge, not my fault it went over 30 days. From now on, when something goes bad, I'm going to demand my money back the very next day that it goes bad. I should have never listened to that woman and returned the product right away.
To make matters worse, the girl at the service desk was the meanest service person I've ever dealt with. She treated me so awfully bad that I will never go back there again to shop. Her attitude was terrible, and she made me feel like I was the one at fault for the product not working. It was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend shopping at Rural King to anyone.

Five days later, I returned to Rural King to pick up my gun. However, they still wouldn't let me have it, claiming that it was still delayed. I reminded them that according to the BRADY LAW, after 5 days, the gun should be handed over to me unless the background check came back with a negative result. If that was the case, the police would come to retrieve it. However, Rural King told me that they had their own store policy and didn't have to follow federal laws. I was confused and frustrated that a store could override the government.
In the end, I decided to get my money back, but they kept a $10 restocking fee. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the gun I wanted from Rural King and ended up going to another store to buy the same gun. I was able to walk out with it that same night, which made me wonder why Rural King couldn't do the same.

I ain't gonna lie, I had a pretty bad experience with Rural King. I was all excited to order three firearms on June 5, but boy was I in for a surprise. My status kept saying "processing" with no other info for over 10 days. I mean, come on, I got things to do! So I sent two emails, but no one ever got back to me. Then I called and had to wait a whole 45 minutes just to talk to someone. Ain't nobody got time for that!
Finally, last Wednesday, I spoke with a representative and they told me that one of my items wasn't even in stock. But get this, when I ordered it, it said it was in stock! What kind of shenanigans is that? I asked if I could get a partial shipment, but the person who could do that was out of the office. They said they left an email and a note on their desk, but who knows if that's true.
Now I gotta order the two firearms that were actually in stock again and wait another 4 to 5 weeks to get a response. Ain't that just peachy? I mean, I ain't no rocket scientist, but that don't sound like good customer service to me. This was my first time ordering from RK guns and it's definitely gonna be my last. Customer service is everything, and Rural King just ain't cutting it.
Unimpressed with Rural King: Clueless Customer Service and Shipping Policies
I gotta say, I've had a couple of run-ins with Rural King and I'm not too impressed. First off, let me just say that the folks who answer the phone when you call in with questions about their products are about as clueless as they come. I mean, seriously, if you're gonna sell something, shouldn't you know a little something about it? It's like they just read the product description off the website and call it a day. If you have any real questions, you're better off doing your own research.
And don't even get me started on their shipping policies. I recently got an email saying that they no longer ship anything to California. At first, I thought it was a mistake, but when I called to ask about it, I was told that they really don't ship anything to the state anymore. Like, what kind of business model is that? California has like 40 million people in it, and they're just gonna cut them off like that? It's like they don't even care about their customers.
Honestly, I think the problem here is with the management. They must be either really dumb or totally stupid to make decisions like this. I mean, come on, guys, get it together. There are plenty of other online stores out there that actually know what they're doing. If you're looking for a hassle-free shopping experience, I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

Bought 1 that was priced for $5.99 there were 2 of this item below the $5.99 and at checkout they charged me $16.99 and I informed them that was the incorrect price and we both went to where the item came from and sure enough the item was in the correct place but in the wrong pricing and the better connector was the one for $5.99 and the one I bought was in the right place but the wrong price. So instead of giving it too me at $5.99 they refunded me my $16.99 plus Tax total of $18.01 and said have a good day and thanks for stopping by.

New chickens
I purchased 10 baby chicks Saturday April 15th at Cross Lanes WV Rural King, and half of them have died so far. They were fine and the next they wasn't just within a few they were dead. I spent $50 on these chicks and their dying. I would like to get a refund do to this, this was unexceptable. I have talk to several people that have bought from there and have had the same experience as I did.. I would greatly appreciate to be contacted back and refunded my money. Thank you

Discrimination, lack of follow through.
My child and I had visited Rural King in Bloomington IN 03/05/2023. During our trips we had multiple people “checking on us”. Then we get to check out and a big burley man come up behind me and stands with his arms crossed in an intimidating demeanor, I even tried to smile at him because it was so tense.. then 3/4 guys standing to the side and then they what felt like made this young girl ask to check my “backpack” which was my purse that never left my back.. I said sure no thing, because I had nothing to hide I was spending $252 why would I steal something. My son was very uncomfortable and then came the questions as to why they were being so rude to me and treating me differently. My assumption is because the way I look. Shaved head on the sides brightly colorful and in a country store.. I then called the GM he took 5 days to call back. Didn’t review any footage before calling me and basically just said well sucks to be you. He then said he’d call back, still nothing. Told me I could return said items I no longer had the boxes for and now they won’t take them back.
Desired outcome: A full refund. I have no use for the boots they don’t fit well and every time I try to wear them I just get annoyed thinking about the situation.
