For approx. 2 weeks now I have been trying to get help with 2 issues on the s25 plus. I have their online chat reps are script bots who answer nothing but will sit silent 80% of the time and just repeat the same scripts. The phone support was no better (but at least tried to answer). I can according to the phone support I can take the phone to a service repair place. The issue is a normal setting (doesn't exist where they claim). To name 2, issue 1- when starting, restarting or turning off the phone there is a carrier tone, not had this since the s9 phone. I can not find any setting anywhere or online (manual etc..) to turn this off, seems a simple matter to me
2- after getting the Feb. 2025 update (first update for the phone) last month a issue resulted immediately after (hint it did not at any time prior happen and did not happen on any previous phone ever). Got the update, installs etc... Get the restart prompt (restart) and the issue is there and constantly there (just a coincidence I guess). There was however in the notification for the update (Android and Samsung update) small mention of updating apps which I don't think I have noticed before. Did not say anything else and I did not see any way to opt out or do anything beyond seeing the words.
Anyway upon that restart (after being prompted by the update) I now get a notification sound and a icon in the top left of 4 dots, 2 at top, 2 at bottom (think square) swiping down on this (again never had this ever prior) has a message telling me I need to update my apps and lists each app and gives the total size of the apps to update, on the bottom of this notice it has 2 options left says wait for wifi connection on right says use data (that's to update the apps). there is no way I can find to stop this notification, as a result this now happens daily sometimes more than once (depending on how often I might turn or restart the phone)
Let's review never once on any previous phone, get new phone wasn't there prior to update and now appears I have in the galaxy store set to not auto update the apps, and I will point out it's not a galaxy store notification doing this since the update. The apps that are being mandated for update is a global fund app. None of the apps being mandated are anything beyond optional, none of these have any real purpose or function in regards to the security or function of the phone at all. Why are they forcing optional updates? Do we not have choice anymore? As for taking it to a service repair place? as suggested on the phone what would they do beyond the obvious "update the apps" and give me a stare wondering why I'm wasting their time
