Santander Bank Consumers is a poor choice for car financing when rebuilding financially, especially now.

Consumers is a poor choice for car financing when rebuilding financially, especially during a pandemic. Our daughter is a disabled autistic 13-year-old. During a crisis, a representative told me he didn't care about my situation and demanded payment before hanging up. After 6 years of payments, my balance is over $10,000, and the car has over 100,000 miles. The staff is unprofessional and unsympathetic, not caring that I'm a hardworking mom at 50, pursuing a nursing career in Las Vegas and managing bills on a fixed income. It seems only the deceitful benefit while honest families like ours struggle.

I would not even give one start if it was an option. My father passed away recently and a refund check was distributed by Santander to him even though we told them repeatedly that he was no longer living. It has been a nightmare trying to get the check rewritten in my mothers name so that she can deposit the money. Absolutely awful! We went to a branch and we were told we dont do that here given a number there , and were on hold for nearly two hours and when they finally answered they said that they couldnt help us and gave a different number to call. Its been the most frustrating experience with no end in sight. Do not use Santander bank for anything, if you have a problem their customer service is terrible!

Awful company overall! They deserve - stars! We have financed several cars through other companies, this is by far the worst company, they have awful customer service, awful online "support". We have our car financed through Santander, not by choice, that is who the dealer used. We set up our online account as soon as we received our welcome letter and set up automatic drafting through our saving account, the 1st payment there was an "issue" processing the auto draft, ok, we call and they couldn't tell me why the draft did not go through, they disabled the auto draft, we make the payment and pay the $30 late fee even though I am not convinced it was our mistake, I speak to a representative and was under the impression that auto draft is back on schedule, one month later, we have the same problem again, no reason as to why, the account information is correct, auto draft is set up, I have emails to prove that, yet they say that it is disabled, I get on the phone again, and spoke to 3 different representatives and not one could tell me what the problem is, except that whatever it is its my fault. They state that they can't see my online account, I know that is a load of bull, companies like these have access to all customers online accounts and can see all account activities. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!

There should be an option for NO STARS! We paid our car loan off in full and 6 months ahead of time. They claimed they sent our title and over two months and 6 phone calls later, we still have not received our title. Now, they want us to go on line and request a duplicate copy and pay $17 dollars for it! Why should I have to pay for a title that I should automatically receive when the car is paid in full. Every customer service representative you talk to, after waiting on the line for 30 minutes to an hour, claims that they will send it in an email and put copy in the mail. They have no honor and respect for their customers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!

Worst bank ever my dealership assigned me this bank I was hit with high interest rate and fees. Then I try getting out of the loan by paying it off three years ahead of time not only I wont to save any money on the interest they actually add a $300 fee to the payoff amount which is the whole amount no savings whatsoever. Cant wait to get the h*** all of this bank.

Santander Bank Everything that has been said here is true

Everything that has been said here is true. I opened an account with them and a month later after they my Social Security Direct deposit, they closed my account, no phone call or email or letter, I found out my account is closed after I go to ATM and card is locked. The manager lied to me and told me account was closed and all my remaining funds were sent to another bank which he said I committed bank fraud, all lies. That other bank said they, even if that happens, they don't do that. I called customer service and agent told me account was closed, but that my $$ would be mailed to me in 30 to 90 days. I have rent and bills due, now what? They don't care. If I don't get my $$ soon, *** will hear what happened happened and also a lawyer. Until they are held accountable they will continue hurting we the consumers who trust our $$ to Santander. Hope others here are also taking legal action.

DO NOT bank with Santander! We have done basic banking with them for decades (direct deposit of paychecks, withdrawals). Recently we received a life insurance payout. Santander has THE WORST communication! I specifically asked if due to the large amount did I need to sit with someone, or the branch manager and the teller said no, it will deposit just fine. This check is in foreign funds. Regardless, I asked about exchange rate process, if there's any fees, and again was assured by the teller it would all be fine, no worries. They don't know what their own policies are! Turns out Santander can take up to 8 weeks—that's TWO MONTHS to process such a check. And there are fees in addition. We asked for our check back after a week went by and the funds weren't deposited. We were lied to by their adjustment services location in MA saying they would overnight the check back to our local branch. 16 days have come and gone. No check. No tracking number. No answers. The local branch manager was as helpful as one can be, but it's out of his control really. Other than the fact the branch manager apologized for the teller's actions, for not informing us the day we came with check in hand - for that they get acknowledgment. But what we need is trustworthy banking and HONEST communication! If they had just told us the truth, that they were not going to overnight it, then say so! It's all the platitudes and misinformation that is really maddening. We discovered that TD has FAR superior cross border banking, and they know their policies and TELL you accurate time frames! Is it really that hard to inform a customer something will take 5-7 business days? Come on, man! Life is hard enough as it is. We have NO clue where our check/money is because SANTANDER doesn't even know. This money was meant to be a huge unexpected blessing in our lives—and it will be as soon as we get it far away from Santander and into our new bank account with TD. We are DONE with Santander.

WTH? I just got a call on my cell phone from Santander Bank and it said my account was frozen. Interested as I do not have an account with them, so pressed 2 for a customer service *** answered promptly (interesting #2) and asked how they could help me. I asked them why was Santander Bank calling my cell phone number to report my account was frozen. He then asked me do I not have an account with them. I said certainly not. He quickly said disregard the message as it was likely a computer glitch. A computer glitch? How the heck did they get my cell phone number? Sounds like a fishing call or a fraud call or Santander Bank sound absolutely horrible. So thank you Santander Bank - aint never going to bank with you. You keep freezing my non existent account and have fun with that!

Santander Bank Worst Customer Service EVER!

Worst Customer Service EVER! Went to this bank Saturday at 12:30PM on 9/26. Needed a signature medallion for my Letter of Intent to transfer funds from my old 401k to an IRA. I had the letter in hand...dark-haired younger woman took my documents and told me I needed to bring in a recent statement from the brokerage as well. I had one on my cellphone and could email to her. She then said I needed a form from the brokerage instead of my LOI. (She clearly did not want to do her job). I told her that as a ***-licensed former investment financial advisor, I knew I did NOT need to use a brokerage form, but that my prepared LOI would suffice. She didn't listen. She made it clear that I had driven out there for nothing. I am not happy that she could not have simply gone online and printed out a form if she wanted it...which was NOT needed at all. Her only reason was "we get audited". Ridiculous lack of customer service...I am glad most of my funds are elsewhere!

They froze my account (while on vacation) because I made a big deposit. Never informing me via text, email or phone (as I have requested) and that deposit was to pay bills. They blocked me out of my account for a week and I had bills scheduled to come out. Now I am dealing with return check fees. The fraud department are a bunch of sarcastic jerks that dont help and forget about speaking to a manager. No one calls back. I am still fighting with them and it is now 3wks. DO NOT USE THEM. GO TO A DIFFERENT BANK

Absolutely terrible. Their autopay system doesn't worn half the time, they take double charges and only apply payments to principal, they'll call you for a missed payment but the second you try to call them back, you're on wait for over an hour and when you finally get someone, they immediately hang up on you. No communication after that first missed payment, they'll just start racking up late fees and "other fees" that are unexplained. You have to watch them more closely than a kid with a knife because they'll stab you in the back just as quick. Go literally anywhere else, worst "bank" on the planet.

Many of the customer service representatives will outright lie to you to get you off the phone or put you on hold and then hang up. I have one simple transaction pending that is taking weeks due to their exceptionally poor communication skills and customer service. I made at least ten phone calls to inquire about the transactions status. The last five or six phone calls, including two today, started with please do not hang up on me. Despite ***, the representatives hung up on me immediately. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get past them to speak with a supervisor who can help with your problem. The only reason I scored Santander a 1 was because 0 was not an option. I am looking forward to never doing business with Santander again.

Santander Bank Avoid this bank like a plague

Avoid this bank like a plague . I have been a customer of *** since 2014 and have never had problems until recently. The *** ,*** branch manager had been calling me obsessively and apparently accessing my bank information without my consent . around the same time my bank information had been breached and unauthorized charges were made .,When i tried to file a dispute the bank representative claimed they weren't sure if i'd receive my money back ( as per FDIC this is illegal for a bank to deny claims from fraudulent charges) I also contacted customer service to report that their branch manager had been calling me without my request prior to these charges being made and they initially tried to deny that particular person worked for santander . After revealing i had emails from this manager with her name on their letterhead they finally admitted she did work for the bank and proceeded to file a complaint . I'm apparently not the only person who has been an issue of fraud with this branch as the *** reviews show someone else having similar problems .

Santander Bank The worst company I have ever dealt with not just bank but company

The worst company I have ever dealt with not just bank but company. I have an auto loan through this bank. We thought we were making the correct payments through their website just to find out the payments were going to China. After my vehicle was reposesed I explained the situation to several reps only to be met with hostility and rudeness. After I got the money back from my bank I still had to pay hundreds of dollars in late fees plus repo fees as well as pay the auto auction to release the vehicle back to me. After speaking to several reps I was assured there was no storage fees, which was recorded, and I asked several times if the amount they were telling me was all I needed to pay and several times they said yes that is all. After I paid all of my fees and went and got my vehicle, I noticed one month later they are trying to bill me extra for storage fees and the money I already paid to have the vehicle released back to me. This company has lied to me so many times and they are absolutely ripping me off, and if you try to challenge them they will put you on hold for 15 minutes then come back and pretend like they can't hear you on the other line like their manager Julie did to me. No compassion, incredibly rude and unprofessional employees and shady business practices!

Santander Bank This bank is run by absolute filthy scumbags

This bank is run by absolute filthy scumbags. I sent a wire transfer to a vendor I have conducted business with before, and Santander took a 50 euro fee for them to conduct an, "internal review" of the transaction. What the h*** does that even mean? I called my bank multiple times to see if I could get an explanation for why Santander took this fee, and my bank didn't have an answer. I then called Santander and spoke with a representative who told me she couldn't discuss why the fee was taken because I was not a Santander customer, so they told me to call the Vendor and have them call Santander to try to get an explanation for why this fee was taken. The vendor called Santander, and they told me that I did nothing wrong, that sometimes the bank just needs to do "internal reviews" of transactions.I have literally NEVER heard of banks taking fees like that during transactions, especially when the party sending money did nothing wrong. After finding this page, it is clear to me that Santander is running schemes like this where they give [censored] reasons for hitting people with fees for absolutely no reason. Nothing like this has ever happened when I've sent wires to other banks. S Santander and their scummy business practices. I will never send money to a Santander account ever again.

Santander Bank My son had a loan and was late on some payments in 2020 (the year of Covid)

My son had a loan and was late on some payments in 2020 (the year of Covid). He caught up all payments in that year. He woke up yesterday morning 4/19 to find that his car was gone. He made a payment in March, but missed February. He was told that he had to pay about $2,000 to get his loan reinstated. We arranged for the money and called back within a couple hours asking where to send the money and in what form and he was told they changed their minds and would not allow reinstatement. He was told because he was late on some payments in 2020 they were keeping the car and would sell it and he would owe the difference. He explained that he was in A Union as an apprentice because he was embarking on a new career and he was in between job placements. Fact is we had the money as directed by them and they changed their minds. As a result we had to go out and buy him a used car so he could continue to work. He was only a couple of months behind and this was a first offense. This company wouldn't budge. This company is not compassionate and we were told by the dealer what happened and they said, "Oh. ***. Yeah they are terrible." I see by the reviews they are rated very low. Why are they still in business. DO NOT EVER GET A LOAN FROM SANTANDER! ***! HOW DO THEY STILL HAVE AN A-!

Santander Bank Our business has been working with Santander Bank since 2006

Our business has been working with Santander Bank since 2006. They have all our business and personal accounts... plus mortgages. Had a great experience... until the past few years. As a small business owner, Covid hit us hard. We had to put our mortgages on hold for a bit until we could get back on our feet. Santander was helpful with that... until they took us off hold with NO notification. Missed two payments before we got wise to what happened. As we're still trying to get on our feet we can't make back those missed payments. Been working with Loss Mitigation for 7 months. Horrible customer service and communication. Happy to give them the information that they need, but they don't communicate. No emails. Will call but if you don't pick up won't leave a message. You get NO information... until Collections calls to tell you that you owe money and Loss Mitigation has canceled your request due to lack of documents. Documents they never communicated they needed. Some documents you may not even have... and they cancel your request. Beginning to think they want to cause problems. Got Attorney General involved and they still take no responsibility. DO NOT work with Santander. They are HORRIBLE at communicating -- unless it's Collections. Do not care about your credit. And *** is RUDE. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

Santander Bank I have a car loan with Santander and have had nothing but problems for three years

I have a car loan with Santander and have had nothing but problems for three years. I made an online payment and when I submitted, I got a message saying it had not gone through, I tried it again and got the same message. When I tried the third time, I got a message saying I couldnt make anymore payments that day. I tried calling the company but it was a Sunday and they werent open. I checked my bs k account and sure enough, two payments had been taken out of my account. I called the bank at 8 am Monday morning and she told me that since I hadnt made the payments that day, she couldnt return the money. She told me to go through my bank and stop one of the payments. So I did. Thats when the real trouble started. The next month when I tried to make my payment, my bank account was blocked. They said since I had stopped payment, the account was now blocked. I was told it would be fixed. They let me pay with a credit card and waived the fee (I think the fee for paying with a credit card is ridiculous anyway). Same thing happened the next month and they told me they couldnt waive the fee again. After talking to a supervisor I hit it waived. Was told the problem would be fixed. Next month. Problem still not fixed. They wouldnt waive fees anymore. After telling me for 4 months that they would fix the problem, numerous hour long waits and calls. They finally told me they cant fix the problem because its *** that has blocked my account. There is nothing they can do and they will not waive anymore fees. A problem they created, gave me advice on how to fix which made it worse and then they washed their hands of it and could care less that there mistake costs me extra money each month. I absolutely hate this company and will never again deal with them and will tell everyone I know not to either. They fo not care one but about their customers. Three years later and Im still paying extra because of their mistake. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Santander Bank Can I leave less than a one star review??

Can I leave less than a one star review? We fell behind on payments on our car with Santander. Unfortunately, we contracted the covid virus which made our situation worse and the car was repoed on December 8th. We called to find out what are options were and was told on 2 separate phone calls that we would have to pay the past due payments with fees to bring the account current and after answering a few questions, if we were 'approved' we would be given an amount with instructions on how to redeem the car. During the first phone call, we informed them that we were unsure if we would be able to come up with the funds, so the rep told us to call back when we were able to secure funds and she would walk us through the redemption process. On the second call, we assured her we were ready to make the payment and she started the process by asking questions. She then informed us that we would have to make a full payment to bring our account current and gave us the amount, that we would have to overnight a cashiers check to a special address and when they received the payment, they would accredit our account and send a release form to the recovery company to release our car. So we double checked the amount and address with her several times then followed her instructions carefully. The check was delivered the next day and the amount was credited to the account and brought current with the next payment being due in February . So we waited a couple days for them to send the release form. They never did so we called Santander back to inquire about the form. They tell us that they would not release our car because our redemption was denied and that the entire payoff amount was due. WHAT?! We followed their direction exactly, even paying to overnight a cashiers check, to be told that we were never approved for redeeming our car? They even said they listened to the original conversations and that we were told we did not qualify several times (not that they would let *** listen to those conversations) although she stated several times throughout the conversation what the amount was that we needed to make the cashiers check for to redeem the car and the overnight address to send it. It makes no sense. We did exactly what they wanted us to do and now they still plan on selling the car. We are being lied to, cheated and ripped off. Not sure where we go from here.

My husband and I had a Home Equity Line of Credit loan with Santander Bank. We decided to settle this loan with another financial institution due to increasing interest rates at Santander. In December 2022, my husband contacted Santander to obtain the payoff amount, which was quoted as $84,877.50. Subsequently, a loan check from Kearny dated December 27, 2022, for the quoted amount was processed by Santander on January 4, 2023.

I later received two statements for the same period, from November 30, 2022, to December 30, 2022. One statement indicated that I owed $1,129.76, while the other showed a balance of $366.96. Both statements recorded a payment of $83,775.80, which contradicts the actual amount of the check cashed by Santander. Neither statement was marked as corrected.

Additionally, a letter dated January 11, 2023, outlined a regular payment due of $732.70 plus new late charges of $73.27, totaling a minimum amount due of $805.97. Despite numerous lengthy phone calls to Santander, I was repeatedly informed of an outstanding balance without a clear explanation of how it was calculated. After persistent communication, I was advised via email to follow up if I had not received a response by a certain Thursday. When I called on the following Friday, I was left without an answer.

On February 13, 2023, another call led to an email stating that the issue was under review. This situation is unacceptable for a bank of Santander's stature. The time I have invested in resolving their mistakes is substantial. I demand that the loan be corrected, officially closed, and acknowledged as paid in full. I also request a written confirmation of the loan's closure and assurance that my excellent credit score remains unaffected. If there is any outstanding balance, I insist that it be waived as compensation for the time I have dedicated to rectifying their errors.

I had a 2012 *** rouge. I financed in aug. 2016, my husband totaled the car out Dec. 2016. I gave over a year for the warranty to pay out which is did! Great, well now when I go to get a car loan, they claim this car is repod Im not sure how you repo a totaled out vehicle that we waited over a year to get a warranty paid out too. I kept great communication with Santander about the warranty, to be slapped in the face with a repo Ive asked them to remove this and theyve denied with no rhyme or reason.

I am writing this because my father, an elderly man of 86 years, has had his banking account compromised. An unauthorized person accessed his account and withdrew funds, and now the bank claims they are not responsible.

I am a victim of Identity theft. The Fraudster took out a loan in my name from Santander bank. The amount was deposited in my checking account. I returned the amount to Santander bank in full. However, Santander is still sending me bills on interest that was accused. I have never been a customer of *** and tired to explain the situation, however, the investigator on this case refuses to understand this and says that the money is still with me and under my control.

Santander Bank Hi, I have been going thru a 2 year process to assume my mothers current mortgage loan in the home I reside in

Hi, I have been going thru a 2 year process to assume my mothers current mortgage loan in the home I reside in. I finally was sent a application along with documents showing the loan estimate and estimated closing cost in the amount of ***. In August I returned the application and check for closing cost. My check was cashed on 9/8. I spoke with someone on 9/15, because I needed to send another 2 documents (Agreement of the sale between mom and daughter and proof of relationship) before my application was sent to the underwriter. On 10/15 my mom and I called for a status update and we were told verbally the application was denied and a letter was sent on 9/27. We both advised nothing was sent and as of 12/2 I have still yet to receive a formal letter of denial. At that time we asked why the application was denied and the rep stated she could not see the letter and would put in for the letter to be sent out again. I than asked about the closing cost check that was cashed and I was told someone would be contacting me about the refund check. Someone contacted me the day of 10/15 and advised my check was in the process of being returned and they would follow up the following week with a tracking number. I received emails for 2-3 weeks advising my refund process was being worked on, but no tracking number. I spoke to someone on 11/9 and I was advised it was sent to management for approval on 11/05, but still no refund. I made another call on 11/19 and I was kept on hold for 22 mins while the rep was suppose to be looking into the refund and when I hung up and called back customer service was closed. I guess the young lady didn't feel like doing her job. I called again on 12/1 and a young lady stated someone would be returning my call right back with a status and no one called back. I am hoping the ComplaintsBoard.com can help me with the return of my closing check. I have attached supporting documents for my case. Thank you in advance

On June 4, 2022 my brother purchased a 2013 *** Equus at Carmax which was financed by Santander bank. On July 16,2022 my brother passed away and my husband and I took over his car payments because he was so excited about his purchase. My intentions were to have my bank refinance the car once we receive the death certificate to be able to legally get the car transitioned over to keep the car in the family as it was my brothers last big purchase . I contacted Santander to explain and update my contact info to where the car would be. located. Fast forward on 2/6/2023 Santander picked up the car with my husbands wallet, drivers license , social , money, debit cards , personal info in the car. I contacted the bank and I ask them why did they take the car and could we get our things out the car the rep told me that I couldnt get my things out of the car which is illegal. I was told that I would have to submit an heirship in order to get our things out of the car. I explained that I couldnt do anything without the death certificate. Its one thing to take the car that we have been paying on for 7 mos but its another to not allow us to get out personal items out of the car thats all we want I would also bring the keys to the car as well. This is that last attempt to get this issue rectified before seeking legal counsel .

Back in November and December 2022, I requested statements from one of my checking accounts and from my money market savings, both from the date of opening to the present. I was informed that old account statements were not accessible and I was provided with all the information the branch could retrieve from their system at that time.

I am aware that, contrary to what I was told, the statements do exist. They may not be accessible to all representatives, or may not be available through the branch's system, but they are indeed available. I felt dismissed when I was told that my statements were irretrievably lost.

The accounts in question were opened around 2013 or 2014 and are still active. It seems improbable that the statements have been purged as suggested. I am now seeking help through the ComplaintsBoard.com with the hope that this issue can be resolved without having to escalate to regulatory or insurance agencies. Please assist.

I am a cosigner on an automobile loan for my daughter with Santander bank. The vehicle was in an accident and was totaled back in November 2022. The insurance company sent in a check for the value of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Santander decided to keep a good portion of that money for their own interest. The only response I got from them was that they were an interest loan which they repeated over and over again. I'm sure that beyond unethical that this is probably illegal. The nature of this check was the value of a vehicle not paying interest to a bank. The amount should have been taken directly off the principal and used for nothing else. I would like to have this interest taken from my daughter given back and put on the principle of this loan. It's a few hundred dollars but to my daughter it's everything! We can't fight a big bank for $400. They'll just send to collections and ruin her credit. The little guy needs your help here.

Santander Bank has been dishonest with me regarding their Zelle service! A client of my business falsely accused me of taking money from them, which is utterly untrue. Santander claims that Zelle has disabled my service, yet Zelle confirms they have no such record. Zelle has assured me that there are no restrictions on my use of their services, contradicting Santander's statements. Without any notice, Santander disabled my access to Zelle, causing me to lose over $40,000 since my customers pay me through Zelle to commence work. Santander has been uncooperative, and I've spent countless hours on the phone with them, only to be misled repeatedly.

I have provided Santander with all the evidence of my interactions with the customer who lodged a false complaint against me, but I've received nothing but evasion and no assistance. Zelle has repeatedly confirmed that there are no restrictions on me using their services. Despite this, Santander has failed to resolve the issue and refuses to provide a clear explanation, insisting that Zelle is responsible for the service interruption. However, Zelle has informed me that it was Santander's decision to cut off my service.

The Santander fraud department has received all my correspondence with the customer, including the contract for the job they canceled five days before I was scheduled to start. This was after I had designed their deck, coordinated with the gas company to remove a 400-gallon propane tank from their yard, and purchased all the necessary materials. According to my contract, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required upfront. However, as a gesture of goodwill, I returned $2,500 to them, retaining the rest as compensation for the work I had already completed. Legally, I was not obligated to refund any amount.

This customer has also posted defamatory and slanderous comments about me and my business online. I have shown all this evidence to Santander, yet they still refuse to address the problem. I plan to withdraw my funds as soon as they rectify this unwarranted situation. My attorney has notified the customer that we will take legal action if the false statements are not retracted. Santander remains unhelpful in resolving this fraudulent claim.

Santander Bank This all started on 10/1 when i received a bank statement from Santander Bank showing a card purchase for $52.99 for WebRoot Software

This all started on 10/1 when i received a bank statement from Santander Bank showing a card purchase for $52.99 for WebRoot Software. I don't own a computer nor know how to use one. I'm 83 and don't plan on learning how to use one. My Husband had just passed away March 8th, so it wasn't him that purchased it. The purchase happened on 9/24 according to the banks records. My daughter took me to the bank a few days later to close the accounts because i wanted to put my money closer to home. I don't want to drive all the way to *** to do my banking. I was given the balance in the account of $253.91 and was told we couldn't close the account until the dispute was resolved. The claim number I was given is ***. I was sent a letter stating that it was resolved and they would send me a check for $52.99 and that the account was now closed. I was to expect the check in 5-7 business days. It never came.I called the bank on Nov 22/21 and was told the check was on its way. When it never arrived, my daughter, ***, called on 12/16 at 2pm, and talked to ***, and she transferred her to ***. She spoke with him and let him know that I was very upset about the way i was being treated after having been such a long time customer with them. *** assured her that he would look into it and that they would cancel the lost check and reissue another one, again to be received within 5-7 business days, and to let him know when we get it or if we don't get it. So yet again i waited. I called *** on 12/27, explained that I had not received the check and he said he would look into it and call me back. When he called back, he stated that they accidentally had sent the check to our previous *** address, where we had not lived for two years, and that they would cancel that check and send another to the correct address. No check, sent to *** addr again, still no check. More to the story. Still no check. Money was taken out a second time!

Ive attempting to get lien release for my deceased mothers car. (Paid off 2018). Ive called 13x receiving different answers to questions each time. Ive spoke to 3 managers with no follow through. On hold 1 day for 1 hour 45 mins. They transferred me every time to someone else that states will be handled and never gets resolved. This is ridiculous! Also there is nothing I can do because there is no accountability for any of the employees that give incorrect information. Thanks so much

Santander Bank Santander Bank passed my 91-year-old father a counterfeit $100 bill during a withdrawal.

Santander Bank passed my 91-year-old father a counterfeit $100 bill during a withdrawal from his checking account totaling $2,400. He gave me the money, still in the bank's envelope, which I deposited into my account at another bank. Their teller detected the fake bill using a machine. The bank sent the bill to the Secret Service, leaving me $100 short. I reported it to Santander's Corporate Office and the branch for investigation. After weeks and multiple calls, Santander refused to refund, claiming their tellers check for counterfeits. However, another bank used a machine for detection. As a CPA, I find Santander's lack of effective controls alarming. The branch is in a senior-heavy area, raising concerns about other potential victims. It's unacceptable for a bank to distribute counterfeit money, regardless of whether it was an oversight or intentional. Santander's trustworthiness is in question, and their response was inadequate.

Santander has been reselling a past debt from 5 years ago, in which is against the law. Vehicle was repossessed and debt was sold to another debt collector without any verification on this debt. I have asked Santander to remove this debt numerous of times. You cannot resale a debt to someone without authorization. Im asking that this be completely removed from my credit report effective immediately.

On January 24th, 2022, I sold a home that was jointly owned by myself and my late husband. The mortgage company, Santander Mortgage Servicing, received the remaining mortgage balance along with an owed escrow balance of $734.80. The loan was in my late husband's name, but since his passing, I have been responsible for all payments, including the final payoff, and I have explicitly stated that the refund should be issued in my name. Following the sale of the property, the mortgage company has either sent two checks to an incorrect address or failed to send a check at all. I have reached out to customer service and management on numerous occasions, totaling 13 calls and emails, to rectify the situation and receive payment, yet the outcome remains unchanged. As we approach a full year since the sale, I am still awaiting the $734.80 that is owed to me. Should this matter remain unresolved, I am prepared to seek legal advice.

Santander supposedly offers debit card protection against fraud and scammers. I purchased an iPhone screen from a Chinese seller on an online marketplace but the seller did not send the item I purchased (sent a different junk item). I first contacted the Chinese merchant, then the customer service of the marketplace, but neither would honor my dispute due to a system error. The representative from the marketplace even suggested I take it up with my bank, so I did.

All Santander did was send a request to the marketplace for a refund (which the marketplace already told me they wouldn't do due to the system error). So, of course, Santander's request was denied. I was outright scammed by a fraudulent Chinese seller and Santander did nothing.

Adding insult to injury, a supposed upper-level manager emailed me, possibly offering resolution. I called her back at the number she left, several times, but was only met with a voicemail. I left a voicemail, sent an email, and also spoke with a regular phone operator and specifically requested to be connected with the manager. I was told that the manager was busy but would call me back. It is 2 weeks later and Santander has made no effort to contact me or fix the situation.

I am appalled that Santander offers no fraud protection, and moreover that their pattern of bad customer service is systemic.

Santander Bank I have been a customer of a well-known bank since 3/25

I have been a customer of a prominent bank since 3/25. I had a significant portion of my salary deposited into this bank account. On 11/14/2022, a scammer cloned my phone number and accessed my phone remotely, despite me having my mobile phone. The scammer reset my Santander bank's online banking credentials, as the bank sends a one-time password to the mobile phone. The scammer added a new payee in the fund transfer section of the internet banking and transferred $720.00 from my Santander bank checking account to this new payee. I did not authorize this transaction and am unsure how my mobile number was compromised. I filed a police complaint in Oviedo on 11/15/2022, which is under investigation. On the same day, I reported the fraudulent transaction to Santander bank's fraud complaints department. Yet, by 11/17/2022, the bank denied my claim citing inconsistencies, specifically questioning how my mobile number was compromised. I contacted my phone carrier on 11/15/2022, but they found no suspicious activity and could not explain the breach. This ordeal with the bank has been distressing, despite my long-standing relationship and direct deposit arrangement. In today's tech-savvy world, personal information can be leaked and exploited. Mobile numbers and emails are often exposed online and through data-aggregating websites. I am at a loss to understand the technology used by the scammer and cannot justify this to the bank. My claim should not be dismissed on this basis, and I am seeking a refund plus compensation for the distress caused by this incident.

Santander Bank Deposited check issue between banks needs resolution

On November 21, 2022, I addressed a concern regarding a check deposited on September 13, into my bank account. Santander Bank We are filing this complaint against Santander, represented by its legal team, and LLC Global Solutions

We are filing this complaint against Santander, represented by its legal team, and LLC Global Solutions, which also provided representation. We were contacted by a representative on or about December 6th, 2022, regarding stocks from our Time Share Pueblo Bonito. He proposed selling the stocks for us, charging $3036.92 as a sales commission. He assured us that a supervisor would ensure compliance with the rules and manage our payment. We received wiring instructions for the commission. Both representatives assured us there were no other fees. After paying, we were told to pay an additional $5600 repatriation fee to release the funds, backed by a Guarantor letter. Despite assurances, after paying the $5600, we were asked for an extra $3500 or face legal action and asset seizure. Unable to pay more, we proposed to forfeit the stock sale proceeds in exchange for a refund of $8636.92 already paid. They demanded an additional $3500 or threatened total loss and court appearance. They suggested declaring bankruptcy as the only alternative to refund our money. We request they honor their guarantor letter and refund our $8636.92. Thanks

Santander Bank Like many people, my family and I have struggled for the last few months with the after math of the coronavirus recession

Like many people, my family and I have struggled for the last few months with the after math of the coronavirus recession. I am a single parent to 3 kids, 2 with special needs, and the only other adult in my home (my middle son) who had a job, lost it in March due to the recession and only last week began to receive UI benefits. So since the second half of March, we've only had my income to live on. There have admittedly been many occasions when my checking account has been overdrawn during this time. However, I have heard that many other banks and financial institutions have been willing to waive fees due to overdrafts, because of the extraordinary circumstances. Santander, however, has done very little to help, despite my call to customer service on May 12, followed by my call to my local branch manager on May 13, asking for some consideration, Since March, I have been charged $3,605 in overdraft fees. The best that either of them could do for me was to forgive a total of 14 of them ($490). In fact, what prompted me to call on that particular date was that my paycheck was due to be direct deposited on the 15th of May, and my account was overdrawn by more than the total amount of my paycheck- in other words, as soon as my paycheck was deposited, the bank would take all of it for NSF. That happened, anyway, even after the forgiveness, and still the account was overdrawn by $75. I have now stopped direct deposit, because I can't afford to have my entire paycheck taken away in fees. The local branch manager who I contacted on May 13, has told me since then that he cannot waive any more fees on his authority level, and that "senior management" is considering what to do. Several more weeks have passed, and I have lost all of that money, which was more than my "stimulus payment" plus my paycheck combined. I understand that banks are for-profit entities and that service fees are a part of that package. But given the circumstances, this is nothing short of predatory banking. I am asking that you intervene and question the bank about their predatory practices, at the very least. I'm losing hope of ever seeing my money again.

Santander Bank Inappropriate charge of $8,024.26 to my escrow account for the purchase of homeowners insurance coverage

Inappropriate charge of $8,024.26 to my escrow account for the purchase of homeowners insurance coverage. In Sept. 2020 Santander requested proof of my in force homeowners coverage; same was sent to their recommended website (***) on 9/23; I have the e-mail confirmation. 10/15 (date on letter) I received a threatening letter from Santander that they were going to buy a homeowners policy for the previously noted amount. I called them on 10/26 [***] and spoke with *** and he advised to now send information to a different e-mail [***] . I completed this process with *** on the phone and he verbally confirmed receipt and that i should get a call within 24-48 hours confirming receipt. I did not get a call and called Santander again on 10/30; spoke with *** advises to send information to another e-mail - ***; i have confirming e-mail that Santander received the information. 11/20 while reviewing my bank accounts with Santander I find the noted $8,024.26 charged to my escrow account on 11/18 now putting my escrow account into a negative balance. 11/20 I spent from 11:15am trying to get to some person in management to get this fixed until I personally drove to the ***. Office to provide originals of my policy to ***/Universal Banker at the *** Branch (2:30est) . I watched *** make copies of the paperwork and spoke with both *** and ***'s Manager - ***. I was given a commitment that this would be addressed asap and that I would at least get a call by EOB on 11/24 with a status. A very nice conversation with these ladies and they were very professional. I have received neither a call nor an e-mail and today i called the *** branch and there is no answer and the website advises 'temporarily closed'. That concerns me, especially in light of our current challenges with COVID-19, as you can appreciate. I hope the ladies and the folks at the *** office are ok but I really need some help getting this matter resolved. This money must be reversed from my account. Thank you in advance for anything you can do to assist me.

Santander Bank On 01/06 I contacted Santander's Customer Service and spoke with a Supervisor

On 01/06 I contacted Santander's Customer Service and spoke with a Supervisor and a Fraud Department representative. Previously, I was an identity theft victim. I attempted to close my Santander account by phone due to the pandemic. I also froze my credit and canceled cards. The representative confirmed account closure. Discovering my stimulus deposit went into this 'closed' account, I learned it was only blocked. The Fraud Department insisted on lifting the credit freeze for identity verification, which I refused. After a rude interaction, I sought a Manager, only to be redirected to Fraud. They wouldn't confirm my funds' safety or add extra security, citing various block types. Despite my pleas, they were unhelpful and even charged an inactivity fee for the 'closed' account. Now, I must visit a branch during a pandemic, which disregards my personal circumstances.

Santander Bank I am trying to get a bank loan and have been pre-approved for a 600k loan, my mortgage broker ran my credit on Tuesday 2.23 (2 days ago) and it

I am trying to get a bank loan and have been pre-approved for a 600k loan, my mortgage broker ran my credit on Tuesday 2.23 (2 days ago) and it dropped 100 points, the reason given was "paid late" from Santander for small amount. this of course effects my loan and as of now I will lose it all for this error from Santander. I had a line of credit with Santander that I closed after i paid down in full at the beginning of January, I have a letter form them saying that. there was also a overdraft account which is meant to cover if my account goes under. my checking account dropped once in September and was paid back in full. I always pay in full each month for any balances I have. after I closed my line of credit I got a statement saying I owed $2.11 which sounded crazy, I called Santander (I believe it was twice maybe even Three times) to inquire at the time, they told me it's an error and to just chuck the statement in the garbage. As soon as I my mortgage broker said this to me I called Santander, they bounced me around 3-4 times each time they couldn't figure out what the issues was. finally they got me to manager who kept me on the phone for2 hours and fifteen minutes (at that point I had my mortgage broker on the phone as well), they tried to explain that I owed 2 dollars of which I automatically paid 1 dollar of. he could not explain how it all happened, when we asked to get it removed we were put on hold again and again only to be told that he will apply for to to be forgiven, of course I don't need it to be forgiving for 2 dollars, I all i wanted was for the "late" to be removed so my credit score doesn't get shot and in short term lose out on a huge loan I need for purchase of a property. I explained again and again that I had already called the bank and asked about anything outstanding I was told repeatedly that I owed nothin on the account, I told the manager that is not right for me to get punished for nothing I did wrong. At that point the manager hung up on us, I figure I would least call back to try to pay down these 2 dollars or so they claimed I owed so the "late" on the report doesn't get worse. this time I remembered to ask for a name, the rep's name was *** and he told me that I owed nothing, there was no open balance, when I questions him about the the negative comment on my credit report he told me it was a mistake on Santander's part and he would apply to get the info removed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing after 2 hour on the phone with a manager, I conference my mortgage broker in again just for mr. to repeat what he said and he again confirmed it. Mr. gave me a refence number *** and told me to call back in 2 days (which is today ) and I would be able to see if it was taken care of, I called today and was told it's pending and under research and can take up to 30 days. I begged for some type of written confirmation that it's at least being worked on so I don't lose out on my loan in the meantime. I was denied any such help only that it can take 30 days and have a nice day. I since looked it up on line and I see many such complaints against Sanatder for peoples credit scores being destroyed in error from Santander, in my case this potentially can cots me tens of thousands of dollars to extend my lock and in rates I will get. all for an error the bank made, to no fault of my own. Please I beg you to help me get this resolved as soon as possible. With tremendous gratitude for what you to for consumer like myself. thanks you.

Santander Bank We have detailed our grievances regarding our mortgage broker in this email

We have detailed our grievances regarding our mortgage broker in this email. We hope you can share with upper management so they can address his conduct. He has no right to treat customers poorly. Our mortgage broker was unprofessional - rude on multiple occasions, lied to us, failed to keep promises, had a heated argument with our realtor, cursed her, and communicated inconsistently. He blamed others for delays, nearly causing us to lose our deposit and incur extra charges. Despite better rates elsewhere, he failed to match them as promised, threatening our deposit if we switched lenders. His poor communication skills, selective email responses, and false promises, including covering refinancing costs, added to our stress. He required us to open a special account without disclosing the need to maintain a $150K balance, which didn't secure us a better rate. In contrast, our family members received excellent service from their mortgage brokers, highlighting the stark difference. Our experience was a nightmare, and we strongly advise against working with him.

Santander Bank On June 19th I received a postcard in the mail stating two returned checks were issued against my account causing a negative $22,579.67

On June 19th I received a postcard in the mail stating two returned checks were issued against my account causing a negative $22,579.67 balance and $70 in returned items fees were charged. I attempted to log onto my online account to check the balance and was given the message that my account access had been blocked. I called customer service to inquire about the block and the postcard I received in the mail. They were unable to help and transferred me to the fraud department. The person I talked to looked into my account and was unable to resolve it. I was told it would need to be looked at by the fraud department supervisors and I would get a phone call or letter in the mail with more information. At this point I was also informed of two additional returned checks that were issued against my account that I was unaware of. This resulted in an additional $70 in returned item fees. During this time I did not have any access to any of my funds in my both my checking or savings accounts. I waited 10 days and did not receive any communication from Santander regarding my accounts. I called the fraud department again on June 29th. The person I spoke with told me there was nothing I could do but continue to wait and I would not be allowed access to my account or funds until someone contacted me. On July 3rd at 10:24 AM I received a phone call from *** while I was at work. I immediately checked the voice mail and she left a message saying she needed to speak to me about my checking account and to call her back. At 10:29 AM, 5 minutes after her original call, I called her back at the number she provided ***. She did not answer and I left a voicemail to have her call me back. I never received a phone call back. I called again on July 8th with no answer, and again on July 10th with no answer. Both times leaving a voice mail requesting her to call me back. July 13th I still did not receive a call back. Instead on this day I received three letters in the mail from Santander. Two of the letters with information stating that "per my request" each of my accounts had been closed. The third letter was a statement from my savings account showing my total balance was withdrawn and year to date I was charged $140 in returned item fees. I once again attempted to call *** and once again she did not answer. Her voicemail was however updated to state she would be out of the office from July 10th through July 20th, indicating she did check her voicemail and ignored my previous voice messages. I then called the fraud line directly to find out where my money has gone and why my accounts were closed when I never requested them to be. The person I spoke with said there was an investigation on my account and it concluded that I was at fault for the fraudulent charges. I was never explained how or why this was determined or why I was never able to speak with anyone about it during the investigation. I asked where the funds went that were in the account that was closed without my permission and was told a check was issued and mailed on July 3rd. Today is July 15th and I am still without the money that were in the accounts. I also inquired about the $140 in returned item fees that I was charged and how to get those refunded. She said I would have to file a claim with a separate department to get those reversed. I specifically asked if there would be an issue getting that refunded if my accounts were closed. She said no, they would send me a check in the mail. I agreed to file a claim and she transferred me. Once transferred I was told by the representative that there was nothing they could do about the returned item fees since the accounts were closed. They would have to refund the amount back to the account they were charged and since there was no longer an account it could not be refunded. I told her what the fraud department told me in that they should be able to mail me a check with the amount. She checked with her supervisor and he told her that there was nothing that could be done. I opened these accounts on March 17th. During this time I had no issues until now. I am very disappointed in ***'s lack of professionalism by not returning my calls and ruling me at fault when I was never able to speak with her. I set the accounts up to have as a separate savings account that I could put a little each paycheck into and not touch except for emergencies. Someone else fraudulently used it. Now I am being told I am at fault and have to pay the fees which is unacceptable.
