store 441 over charging customers
On October 6 at store 441 at 320 Warwick Ave in Warwick RI they had grapes in a plastic container mixed in with bagged grapes. They were both white grapes and there was no pricing except the main sign saying they were $.99/pound. They charged me $2.99/pound. I didn't notice until I got home so then had to go back to the store, 17 miles and 1 hour of my time wasted. When I called the store manager to see it and explained what it cost me he agreed it was their mistake and then said he would take care of it and walked away. In the time I stayed there others took the plastic containers and would have been overcharged and I didn't see the manager or anyone else fix the problem. I should have been reimbursed for time and wear and tear on the vehicle.
store closing early
Good evening. We have never been treated so rudely by an employee at Shaw's. At 8:55 pm, we arrived to Shaw's on 146 High Street in Ipswich MA 01938. A young store employee was outside opening the door to go back into Shaw's since it was locked early, and let us in with him. As We entered the store, a woman called out to us and said "Ladies, the store is closed and you cannot shop." We said, "but it isn't nine o'clock". And she said "I closed the store and locked the doors. You cannot shop. This is my last customer." We only had to pick up two items, and we knew where those items were located so we wouldn't have taken up more than 30 seconds of time. We were yelled at and embarrassed infront of other customers. If the store hours are posted till 9 o'clock, we don't understand why the doors were locked prior to 8:55pm and why we were treated so disprecfully. I am not positive but I believe the woman's name is Irene, I am not sure if she is the manager but it was shocking to be yelled at. We've always enjoyed the friendliness of the employees of this Shaw's and are now so disappointed.
fresh peaches
I visited Shaw's on river street in Waltham, Massachusetts on 09/19/2018
at approximately 9:30pm. I strolled by the fresh peaches located in the
produce department and could not believe what I saw. Moldy rotting peaches
on sale for $1.99 per pound. I could understand if it were just one or two peaches
with a few minor bruises but this was out of control.
organic bread
I just picked up this morning and didn't notice the mold until I took a first bite. It is September 17th and the date was September 14th. Unacceptable! You will get people sick and that is a health code violation. The Shaws branch was Trader's Way plaza in Salem, MA. I want a refund and I want this fixed or I am never shopping there again. I went to the shaws supermarket last night at 1040pm. On the website, and posted on the door it states open until 11pm.I needed to grab medicine for my son, but a worker was outside the door and wouldn't let me go in stating they were closed. I said, it says 11pm, again he said we'll we're closing in 5mins. sorry, and wouldn't let me into the store. I understand it was late on a Saturday, but if you have employees that don't want to work, maybe you need new employees. Very rude, and against your posted hours. This was Middletown RI.
venus blades
The venus blades were on a display by the register there was more than two packs there and I grabbed two because they were advertised as 4.99... So they rang up as 17.99 and I told the guy at the register and one lady came up and said no that's not right so she grabbed the other two and he rang them up to see how much they were and they were priced wrong as well and she said we have to give them to her and she goes to the back and come back out and says we can't give them to you a customer could of put them there (as there displayed in a venus cases) I said they obviously was just put there and she pushed me away never have I been treated that way I will not be going back to shaw's ever! Not happy!

I am so disappointed in Shaws. Produce is not well maintained so I frequently get rotten foods. Local brands I seek are limited, and the store is increasingly filled with Signature brand items. Lowfat Cabot cottage cheese always runs out. Nothing changes.
I am mostly though concerned with the produce, and finding many expired items including milk, on the shelves.

I ordered chocolate chip cookies for a party and when the lady Connie came out with my order they were oatmeal raisin and with no hair net on! I told her that was not my order and she determined on her own that is what I ordered. She was rude and condescending to me and I will NRVER order anything from this bakery again as long as that lady works there.
deli counter closed... why?
I will tell you the reason I was told by the person cleaning the counters. He told me, "The deli is closed because the person that was to be working, didn't show up". That is a failure in many ways and cost me to drive 10 miles to the nearest other Shaws. You people don't have a backup to the person responsible for keeping the deli fresh and clean. All products just had a piece of wax paper over it to keep people seeing the flies that were buzzing around. I hope the person was either in the hospital or worse. The least is that person should be terminated immediately. Maybe I will just plan on traveling the 10 miles to a more competent location and ignore this store in the future.
shaw's peabody sells expired groceries
I have bought expired dairy products from the Shaw's in Peabody a few times and my husband even had a talk with the manager about needing better quality control. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and continue to shop there. I just have to check the dates of any dairy products. Apparently it's not just dairy products because on Wednesday I went food shopping there and bought a bottle of Newman's Own Ranch salad dressing. Today I ate a salad with the dressing and was noticing that something tastes nasty. Turns out the salad dressing expired November 2017! It expired NINE MONTHS AGO! Seems to me you care more about making a buck than the health and safety of your customers. What if I had fed this to my children? They could get sick. Completely unacceptable and as I said- this is not the first time that I have been sold an expired product from your Peabody store. It will be the last though.
deli service
I got out of work at 830pm but had to run to Shaw's in colchester Vermont to grab lunch options for my husband who was going out of town for work at 3 am the following day. I proceeded to the service deli department and it looked as though they were closing up. The exact time on my phone was 8:54 pm, one member told me sorry we closed at 8pm. I was pretty sure they were open until 9. I then went around the corner and called the customer service at the front of the building and asked what time the deli closed she said 9pm but let me just confirm, she directed my call to the deli, who I could also hear around the corner, I asked what time they closed he said 9pm. Well then how come when I went to here at 8:54 pm I was told they closed at 8pm, why because they were done for the night and picked up early. Well I work in the food service and if someone shows up at 3:59 and we close at 4, guess what, they get to order because we are not closed! Highly dissatisfied with the level of customer service. Also to include I did proceed to after the phone call confront the deli told them I just called that they closed at 9pm and at this time was now 8:58 pm and told them I would like there service in getting what I had wanted!
overcharge
I'm a steady coustmer at Shaw's at least twice a week. Been buying some of the discount stuff well supposed to be. Past 5 times I've ended up driving back in town and getting the discount. They don't ring the 50 percent thing on the product. This has prob cost me close to 30 bucks in gas not to mention time. The other day was last straw I still have not went back to get the 10 bucks I was over charged. I'm serious thinking Hannaford even tho I like your lay out better. The workers need to pay more attention and not just rush you out

I am writing you today, because of an unfortunate incident that occurred today in from of the Shaw's grocery store, located at 95 Washington St., Cobbs Corner, Canton, MA. I didn't know who I should contact at Shaw's, so I thought I would solicit your assistance.
Attached please find a copy of an agreement to solicit charitable donations, today and tomorrow, in front of the Shaw's grocery store at Cobbs Corner. This is the fourth year in-a-row that I have raised money for JDRF in front of your store. Every year I sign up months in advance and confirm the event in person with the Shaw's grocery store staff, one month and one week ahead of time. Just last weekend, I confirmed the fundraising event, in person, with the management staff at the store.
This morning, I attempted to introduce myself to the store manager, Jessica, but she was unavailable. Shortly after setting up for donations, Jessica came outside the store to inform me that a vendor, Dietz & Watson, would be setting up a tent in front of the store and that a second fundraiser was also scheduled to solicit outside the same Shaw's store today.
Jessica informed me that I would not be allowed to solicit at the main entrance, even though there was no sign of the Dietz & Watson vendor or the other fundraiser. I showed a copy of the agreement to solicit at the Shaw's Cobbs Corner, but she still refused to let me solicit donations for JDRF in front of the main entrance.
Months of planning go into the preparation for this fundraising event and this is quite a loss to the young children who benefit from the donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Even while I discussed the situation with the Jessica, store manager, patrons were handing me donations, which I had to refuse.
Because the Shaw's management erred and deliberately scheduled both a vendor and second fundraiser on the same day, we are asking that Shaw's Foundation compensate us for our loss and submit a donation of $500 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on my behalf. This is an equivalent amount, which we would normally raise during the two day event.
If you are unable to comply with this request, then please be kind and forward this letter to someone who would be in a position to offer further assistance.

gift card
I've attempted to use a Shaw's gift card twice now at the Easton, MA location. It seems that the card readers are not reading the gift cards and not one employee in the entire store knows how to enter them... not even the managers. It seems that they should be trained to use the gift cards with your new computers as they said they can no longer manually enter them. I have now had to pay twice with cash instead of using my gift card that still has a balance of $45.63.
jumbo shrimp - tail on - from display case; bought 6/30/18
Very simple; I came in for 6 lbs of snow crab, but unfortunately the 1.03lbs in the display is all that was available. That's fine, it's a busy weekend, so I decided to get enough shrimp to have shrimp cocktail and went to get crab legs elsewhere. I got home and my girlfriend had a couple of shrimp, they were bad. Sour tasting and clearly not good. It's an honest mistake and I'll likely continue to shop at Shaws, but I do expect a resolution, because bad seafood is an exceptional liability for any company, especially a major grocery chain.
Just when I thought Shaws couldn’t get any worse…. I bought ONE PACKAGE of the hamburger that was on sale under the just for U deals on Friday, limit 2, and went back in today for another package because I needed more for hamburgers for my company cookout, but they wouldn’t honor the sale price because apparently the deal is only for one time use even though the limit is 2! It doesn’t say anything on the flyer that you have to buy it in one trip or you lose. I feel like I am being deceived and forced to spend more than I should to get the sale price. Shame on you! Market Basket would never treat their customers that way.

I shop at Shaw's a lot, at least five times a week. I've always had wonderful experience. However, the last two times a dell employee Nicholas has made my experience less than pleasurable. Last Monday(?) I went in around 4pm, and went up to the deli. The meat cutters were busy,
And I had been trying to find the flack seed, but could not. I asked Nicholas who was behind the deli counter if he could tell me where I would find flack seed. He said "I don't know. Read the signs" In a very degrading tone. The last time I went in, I went to ask if he knew where the florist was, or who I should ask to contact the florist of the store and he was too busy on his phone to answer me. It made me

potatoes and meat
You sell package of 10 hamburgers for 8 bucks great but they are rotten and spoiled. How can they sell them? I bought simply potatoes got it home it was spoiled. Pink in color. Package was cut open. I'm not longer going to go to shaws. Always out dated and spoiled food. It's disgusting. Every time I go there is always a problem. I don't get it. Need to check that store it's nasty.

unloading of trucks at night
Hello, I live directly behind a star market in Cambridge MA. My one year old and I am woken up every single night by the noise of trucks unloading goods. The trucks usually start to back up (and beep very loudly) around 9pm. The pallets smashing around are so loud it makes me jump. I should be able to leave my windows open but am unable to due to the noise. My baby is often woken up in the night from the loud smashing. There should be noise ordinance laws regarding noise from certain hours. The trucks eventually stop but resume by 4 am. I am going to be speaking with the city/police department regarding noise laws.
old food
I went to Shaw's in Conway nh a week ago and bought a bag of graham crackers I fed it to my 2 year old daughter and then later eat it myself and it tasted weird to me I looked at the back and it expired in January of 2017 over a year ago. I am absolutely disgusted. I know feel sick to my stomach and my daughter has been having diarrhea. I will never be shopping at Shaw's again, back to Hanford I go.
