Simmons Bedding A mattress should not sink 2& in 3 months

We bought the Black series (king size), supposedly Top of the Line for $2500. After less than 3 months, there were two troughs in the mattress. Simmons states that up to a 2" dip (with no one on the mattress) is acceptable. It cannot be slept on with that much of a dip. We are not sleeping at all, wake up achy all over. My wife and I are both in good shape and definitely not overweight. We wrote letters to Simmons but got no where with it. I want to throw it to the curb!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

i brought a simmons mattress and after 3 month it sank. i have the same problem if you move to the center of the mattress you sly right back to the trench. simmons replaced the mattress after they told me that i have to buy new box springs or they would not replace the mattress. i still have the same problem with the replacement mattress, it also have a trench in it. please add me to your class action suit.

Our situation is the same as all of the above - 2 months in and the mattress looks like our old mattress after 16 YEARS. If you try to sleep toward the middle or side you just roll back to the trench.

We are in! Our story is basically similar... sank 5" in less than 6 months and then strung us along for over 2 months to only tell us they declined our claim due to a stain. Seriously!?!? What were they planning on doing... reselling it? How does a stain have anything to do with the sink-hole? $2500, top of line -- and we havent had a good night's sleep in over a year! I'm fed up...

Add us to the lawsuit list. Bought a Simmons Largent Pillow Top Queen Set 13 months ago and I swear within 6 weeks I was sleeping in a trench. We went back to the retailer but they were quick to say that they can do nothing after 30 days and gave us a toll free number to call. I'm at the point of calling but thought I'd check the web for some consumer complaint info and am appalled at the number of complaints and the total lack of concern or action taken by Simmons. If anyone has any success getting them to honor this as a warranty item, please post it here and e-mail me at joelnmary2@msn.com!

I bought my mattress about 3 years ago and 5-6 months after it sank 2 1/2 inches, they came to inspect the mattress and never contacted me i had to contact them and i was told the warranty is void due to a small stain. i just don't understand what a stain has to do with this $1500 mattress not being comfortable and that's what people but mattresses for (comfort). Besides when it was delivered i was told the warranty will be void if the framming was incorrect. COUNT ME IN ON THE LAWSUIT! LETS GET THOSE ###S...

I TOTALLY agree. $2500 for a mattress. My story is just like yours. Add me on to the class action list. I think the dealer is involved in this fraud. We have a second home and live far away. The retail store, Fendon's Furniture in Bishop said they would go and be there when the inspector came. The inspector called the store and told the dealer not to come for the inspection. It was only after we were denied that the store owner told us that they didn't want her there.

Here's the problem...

YOU CAN'T USE A VISUAL TEST TO DETERMINE A STRUCTURAL DEFECT. IT'S INSIDE THE MATTRESS. That's the problem. The test is wrong. No where on the warranty card do they state how the test will be done.

Count me in on the lawsuit. ###!

Absolutely agree! I am so angry with Simmons. They strung us along and now we have to go buy a new bed. Simmons did not stand behind their 10 yr warranty. I don't think they should be able to say they have one, if they never honor it. I would be more than happy to join the class action.

mine started to sink less than 2 months after i purchased it. not only am i a petite female - 5'2...but i travel frequently for work. i didn't even sleep on that mattress for all of those nights! i've had them inspect it twice...the dent is clearly worse even though i have been sleeping on the edge of the bed!
please include me in the class action...this is so unfair!

we too, 2500.00 in may of 2007, within 10 months, we sank down. simmons says our warranty is void because our frame was not set up correctly. We did not set it up, the furniture store did.
They want to replace our mattress with the new brand they sell, which is great, but it is a family owned business, and why should they have to loose the money.
I want to start a class action lawsuit, and am going to look into it. This is not fair, and we all paid alot of money.

In Mar 2006 we purchased a Simmons Beautyrest mattress, having had nothing but praise for the one we have in our guest room (an earlier model). We picked a plush top Kaitlyn ($900 plus tax) and have had nothing but problems with it. It developed craters where my husband and I lay, even though we turned the mattress as instructed. We specifically told the...

Simmons Bedding Beautyrest mattress is a lemon.

I purchased a king size Simmons Beautyrest mattress set in Dec of 2006. Within about 5 months my husband and I both noticed that the mattress was starting to sag. We both had indents where we lay on the mattress. It took me a couple of months, but finally I got in touch with the retail store, Elder Beerman, and they sent a person out to my house to check the mattress.

By the way, both people who sleep in the bed weight less than 200 lbs. each.

Well, the mattress was recorded as having two indents over 2 inches deep on both sides of the bed. Unfortunatley for me, there was a small 4" x 4" stain-- I thought it was a coffe spil. Since there was a stain, the warranty was said to be void.

My advice to anyone out there, looking to buy a mattress. ** DO NOT PURCHACE A SIMMON BEAUTYREST. *** The advertisements are clever---with the bowling ball gimmic, but the mattress is a terrible quality.

I purchased a Simmons, Beautyrest Classic, King mattress set and frame, on April 23, 2008, at the Elder Beerman in Beavercreek OH. I have gone through the same complaint process as you have regarding deep impressions and sagging. I contacted Elder Beerman Customer Service in October 2011, they stated that they had no record of the purchase. Fortunately, I had copies of all the documentation and all the required tags were still attached to the mattress. The inspection was scheduled for October 15, 2011. I had to request a copy of the report via email. A week later, I received a call stating that the impressions (rolling hills) were normal wear. I called the salesperson at Elder Beerman and explained my concern - I was referred to the Elder Beerman Customer Service Department in IL, once again. When I spoke with the Elder Beerman Customer Service Representative, [protected], regarding my disagreement with the inspection results, she stated that I have to wait 6 months before resubmitting a complaint. This morning, after frustration with the complaint process, I just happened to do a web search for "Simmons mattress complaints" and read your postings. Thank you for sharing your experience regarding Simmons mattress and customer service issues. My next step is to take my own pictures and measurements of the impressions and resubmit my complaint to Elder Beerman and Simmons as suggested by Lybra_lyric, Feb2011 posting. I feel strongly that the poor quality of my Simmons Beautyrest mattress is the problem. Since I travel on business 40% to 50% of the year, technically the mattress held its form for less than 2 years.

Mikeo6...You do not have to wait 90 days for a new inspection. You can take your own photos and measurements of the depression and submit it to Simmons Warranty department and also send a copy of their rejection letter and say that you disagree with the outcome. I just went through the same thing with my 2004 mattress with depression that wakes both my husband and I with severe back and side pain. I was just recently granted a new mattress and foundation and is in the process of choosing my new Simmons Mattress. It was 3 months of the run around, but prayer and faith, (Praise be to GOD) victory is mine...GOOD LUCK!

I agree with this post, and Jack Mcallister, you are a pathetic clown for your comment. If you are going to post something like that at least provide some factual statements to go along with your [censored] attitude and condescending comments. Are you a simmons employee perhaps because your stupidity reminds me of my dealings with simmons customer support representatives. Anyway, I have wasted enough time on you so here is my simmons story. I bought a queen beautyrest on 9/28/07. The mattress started sagging around summer 2010. And Jack Mcallister, I also weigh less than 200 lbs also, and not 198 lbs either (I cant believe I have to post this stuff for an idiot like you). I contacted simmons on 1/17 and they scheduled an inspector to could out to look at the mattress. The inspector used a weighted string placed across the mattress with a ruler to measure the depression in the mattress. However, the inspector's tactics were very underhanded. He pressed down on the mattress but before he took the photos he talked to me about the acceptable numbers that simmons needs to see before they will consider the mattress defective. Then when he was done talking he took his pictures. Looking back on it now I cannot believe I did not catch this trick at the time. By the time he took the photos the depression number was at 1 3/8 inches, this is what he wrote in his report. Coincidentally simmons requires a minimum of 1.5 inches. So my mattress was off by 1/8 of an inch. If he had taken the picture without talking to me it would have easily ready 2.5 inches. After this I received a letter in the mail saying the claim was denied and the level of depression that we had was considered normal wear and tear BULL$*&$. I sent 4 emails to customerassistance@simmons.com requesting the contact information for a supervisor or manager with the warranty department, I never received a response. Today I called them and the customer service woman that I talked would not give me any contact information for a supervisor, she said I could leave a message and she would make sure it gets to the supervisor... yea right, I'm sure, just like my emails were replied to. Then she said that my warranty claim had already been denied and I could open a new claim again in 90 days but "I would just be wasting my time because that one would be denied too" ... those were her exact words. What a despicable company with despicable customer service reps. I am going to invest in a memory foam mattress as soon as I can afford one. I am also going to cut the pillow top off the simmons mattress and take video of what I am sure will be defective coil springs (which is the case with the majority of beautyrest complaints) and I will then post this video online. I have already submitted 2 BBB complaints and I am going to spend as much time as I can getting the word about about this garbage company and their products. I already told my story to 2 women at a sears department this past weekend and steered them away from buying a simmons mattress (they bought a stearns and foster instead). At least I know that by word of mouth I can get some level of satisfaction by informing others about this company, their horrible products and awful customer service.

Your spelling is awful! And you Ma'am are a goon. It is very clearly spelled out in the warranty that you void the warranty if there are any stains. And I highly doubt it was a coffee stain (unless by coffee you mean your bowels are as unstable as your grasp of the english language). And if you say that both people in the bed are under 200lbs. that means you are probably 198. Therefore I would suggest to lay off the Alli as you are leaking you zilch. And ultimately this could have all been avoided if you had spent $19.98 on a mattress protector you cretin. Thanks and have a nice day!

For years, I could not afford the Simmons Beautyrest. Then I finally could b/c HSN or QVC offered it on easy payments. It took me 6 months to pay it off.

But my Simmons Beautyrest sinks in where my body lays (I am not overweight, and am 5 ft tall), so bad that it takes a crane to me back out of the sunken memory foam pit in the morning. I am drenched from the memory foam sweat. I actually have gotten up in the middle of the night and stood in front of the fan. Then, when I make the bed up in the morning, there is always a very unflattering high ridge clear down the middle lengthwise. OMG, I paid $1200 for this piece of crap bed. None of my expensive comforters look good on it, with the high ridge sticking up. I don't have any stains on the bed b/c I covered it immediately with a waterproof mattress protector when I first bought it. But WTF would a stain have to do with ANY of this defective [censored], poorly designed, merchandise?!

Simmons Bedding Defective mattress, denied warranty claim!

Hello my name is Aaron Munoz I purchased a SIMMONS BEAUTYREST mattress from The Room Source furniture store in 2004. The mattress started to fall apart within 6-8 months of use on the mattress so we contacted the ROOM SOURCE about the mattress and they sent someone out right away to inspect the mattress and found it to be defective and replaced the mattress. I dont remember how long the second mattress took to prove it was also defective but I know that it was only a short period of time. Once again we contacted the ROOM SOURCE about the defective mattress and they said they would give us an option to upgrade the mattress if we paid the difference. We took that option and forked over another 200.00 or so dollars hoping to avoid the same problem. Once again the new upgraded mattress proved to be defective in a short period of time. Keep in mind that these mattresses all have 10 year warranties and were not even lasting 2 years. So we contacted ROOM SOURCE for the third time only to find out that they had so many problems with the mattresses that they were not carrying them anymore and that we had to deal with simmons mattress company. I contacted simmons right away and they said that they would send someone to determine if the mattress was defective. I was at work when the gentleman that inspected the bed came to my home, but he assured my girlfriend that our mattress met the qualifications of a defective mattress and that the dip on my side of the mattress was 1 3/4 inches and only had to be 1 1/4 inches to qualify. About 10 days later after hearing nothing back I contacted simmons about our claim and they told us that our claim was denied and it said why in the letter that we would receive. I received the letter and found that they had denied us because there was a stain on the bed and that there was a warranty clause that says the mattress has to be free of stains for the warranty to be effective. One of the previous defective mattresses had a stain on it and was not even mentioned when The Room Source was handling the warranty claims. So I called Simmons back and I told her that we did not receive any paperwork when we purchased the mattress stating this and she told us that "we should have checked". After being abandoned by the ROOM SOURCE and treated very rudely and denied by SIMMONS I did not know what else to do so I gave up. Then come to find I am not the only one that has been denied my warranty by Simmons, there are numerous reports all over the internet of Simmons not replacing defective mattresses that are still under warranty. I still own the mattress and cannot afford to buy another one, me and my girlfriend both constantly have back pain and aches after sleeping on the mattress. I have had so many back problems that I have stopped sleeping on this mattress and have been forced to sleep on the couch. I hope that you can help me out in any way possible in getting simmons to hold up to their warranty. I will never again by a simmons no matter what the outcome and I urge everyone with a denied warranty claim to contact their local newspapers and tv news stations.

Simmons does not stand behind its product! A few small stains does not negate a warranty. On their website it says that stains CAN not DOES. Who is to make that judgement. I think I will contact the Attorney General's Office and the Better Business Bureau. They will do anything to get out of replacing their faulty products.

I bought a Simmons BeautyRest 23 days ago and the mattress sinks in the middle when my husband and I sleeps on it. My husband woke up last week with extreme hip pain and was unable to walk for two days. This morning I woke up with bad back pains. I cannot change the mattress because it exceeded the exchange "date" policy, and they were asking for $250 exchange fee plus delivery charge. I had already paid $750 and I think its a lot of BS that you have to dig out more $$$.

I purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Bianca in January 2007. We have rotated the bed as recommended. The heaviest of the two of us is only 160 lbs. Our bed is severly sagging on both sides. It is not sagging on the edges, as we do not sit on the edge of the bed. I am now suffering from severe neck problems due to the ruts in the bed. I have been to the chiropractor, massage therapist and to my medical doctor who prescribed muscle relaxers due to my neck problems from this mattress. We contacted Simmons, no response of course! I cannot believe mattresses these days last less than 4 years. I am extremely disappointed in Simmons. We have to buy a new mattress today because I cannot live like this any longer, but I am just not sure what brand to buy.

Here's the low down on Simmons from a Mattress Sales associate in California.

Any stains on the mattress will void your warranty. I know it sucks but even a small stain "anywhere" on the mattress voids your warranty... even if the stain isnt where the problem is. We sales associates are required to notify the customer that stains void your warranty and also offer a waterproof mattress cover to protect your 10 year warranty, but most customers opt to go without it because "we dont eat in bed". If you were offered a protective cover, that was your "insurance" for the mattress as the cover will guarantee no stains will penetrate through the cover and stain the mattress, if it does... the mattress cover company will replace your mattress. You guys should learn from this and get a protective cover... just in case.

The Minimum guideline for a defective for sagging is 1.5 inches (1 and a half). With our company, if the compression/sag is not yet 1.5 inches, it's unfortunately not deemed defective. If you guys are getting your mattresses inspected and it's over 1.5 inches... You are entitled to a replacement (as long as there are no stains, spills, soils, infestation of vermin). The gray area is "For health and safety reasons, Simmons may not be able to inspect the products to assess whether the product can be covered under warranty, in which case, Simmons reserves the right to deny warranty claim"

The inspectors are a 3rd party non-affiliate who is neutral in the process and just comes to inspect the damage/warranty claim. It's not their fault, they are just doing their job.

Some retailers have you sign a clause that states you declined the mattress cover, and understands that a stain will void your warranty.

Honestly, customers always play stupid when something goes wrong... "I didnt know about that or they never told me about that... it doesnt fly anymore. It's like reading the fine print when getting a credit card. Make sure yuo know what yuo are getting yuorself into...

We're one of the largest mattress retailers in the West Coast, if you bought your mattress from us, we give customers the benefit of the doubt in certain situations... sometimes even giving yuo a new mattress even when we shouldnt have. Just make sure you buy your mattresses from a mattress retailer... and not a dept store or mom/pop furniture store.

I have a simmons but with a difference problem. My bed seems to collect lint/dirt around the seams of it (the little circles on the top of the mattress). I keep a white mattress cover on it. I can't figure out where the dirt/lint is coming from unless the mattress is dirty inside. Has anyone else had this problem?

I must say that I am totally unhappy with out comforpedic simmons mattress that we bought 10 moths ago. We purchased the mattress in march and in october they sent someone out and the mattress had a 1" sag in it already! We were told that this $4000 mattress was never going to sag or make ghost impressions! I had someone come to take a look this week and was told that it had not sagged anymore, but he never took out a ruler to meausre it! I know two other people that have the same mattress and theres still looks brand new! I am going to stay on them untill I get a new mattress. I can not sleep at night and these people do not give flying flip about anyone but themselves and getting there money!

WOW, am I glad I found this blog! I was just getting ready to purchase one of these Simmons in a few minutes, but decided to snoop around for reviews, I was going the expensive route too, thinking it would last, and the Black line is so pretty and looked so comfy. I had a Simmons many years ago and I had good memories, then purchased a Serta, another piece of crap, I am dying to get rid of, this Serta has the opposite flaw, its like I am sleeping on a pyramid, high in the middle, sagging very badly on both sides. What to do now, anyway, good luck everyone, I hope you win if you file suit.
