When I moved into my new house with our twin newborn babies we wanted to get a security system this was 2008. We were told that we would have to have a 5-year contact on the system which was fine since we were not moving anytime soon.
Jump ahead to 12 years later and we like most people wanted to get ride of our landline since we never use it and were still paying for it. One problem if we turned off the landline the alarm system would keep playing a warning sound.
So I called Slomin's asked what they suggest. They said we were done with our contract but they can swap the control box so wouldn't need a land line.
And there would be no cost.
A tech can out did the swap and everything was great.
But two years later we found that we were no longer using the alarm system so I called Slomin's to cancel the account.
Here is where the problem started. They told me when I had the box changed I entered into a new 5-year contract and it would be $1,700 to end it.
I never signed anything but they sent me a contact with and x on it and told me I signed it.
Wanted to just be done with the matter I suggested we agree to half since it was a fair amount.
I was told no and it everything.
Two weeks later I got a notice from the court that I am being sued by Slomin's.
So the amount AND legal fee's
After being a customer for 15 years this is how they treated me.
I googled Slomin's and on the first page I saw post after post of being sued by them
So my suggestion is stay far far far away.
This is not how you treat someone
Desired outcome: To not have to hire a lawyer and be sued by a company
