Used engine replacement
On March 1, 2023, my mother purchased a used engine for my 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT from the company Used.Remanns. I believe this is another company name that this company uses that is based out of Wisconsin. We were told that it would take 7-14 business days to ship to my mechanic in Gainesville, FL. Three weeks later I received a phone call from the shipping company stating that they had accidentally put in the wrong shipping address and could not deliver the engine and would have to ship it back to the warehouse and re-ship.
They did that. When my mechanic installed the engine, he realized is was defective while trying to test the engine to make sure all was well. One of the pistons was disintegrated inside the engine. So I filed a warranty claim and was told I could receive a replacement engine that would also include the labor costs to my mechanic to remove the previous engine and install the new one.
It took them two months to deliver the replacement engine. When my mechanic attempted for a second time to install the engine, it was again defective. This time the bearings were bad. I have filed another warranty claim requesting full refund of the engine cost and labor costs for installation of the second engine.
This whole ordeal has gone on for 6 months, since March 2023 and now it's August 2023. I am self-employed and use my vehicle to run my business. This has cost me not only income, but also time and financial hardship. When I call customer service, and if someone actually answers. I am always told that it will be sent to a supervisor and escalated to a top priority. It takes days to get a response and no one seems to know about the claim.
I am frustrated and angry.
Desired outcome: Please provide a full refund for the cost of the engine and the labor costs of installation of the engine
Shipped damaged engine
A friend recommended SWEngines and I took his word for it -- I rank this among the top three worst decisions I have ever made, and I don't remember the other two.
One disaster after another.
I completed my order 13 May, 2023. “Thank you for your recent order (Invoice # 417917) from SWEngines.com: [protected] Nissan Frontier Engine 4.0L (VIN A, 4th digit, VQ40DE)
We truly value your business”
16 May I received a notification from them the order was being processed and will ship in 7-14 business days.
On 31 May, I received an apology for a “slight delay”.
Finally shipping confirmation on 5 June.
Then I get this on 7 June, “Sent paperwork to the warehouse to get this picked up and they loaded it onto the incorrect truck. Should have it back here in the next few days and then reship out to you, that transit time is 3-4 business days. You should receive this by next week.”
Followed by more reassurances on 12 June, “First and foremost, we want to apologize for having to send another email about a delay with your order. Rest assured, YOUR order is our top priority.”
Then on 19 June “I see this was returned to the warehouse but not sure why they havent given me the ok to reship yet. Ill reach out to my contact in the morning and get this resolved.”
20 June “I got it figured out, pushing this onto the truck today to head your way. Transit times are between 3-5 business days from my estimation.”
FINALLY the engine shows up 9 July.
But guess what – the engine oil cooler is busted as it sits on the shipping container. It is a +$400 OEM part that I find for just over $300 including tax and shipping. I figure no problem SWEngines has a warrantee program. Right? –
On 11 July, I requested that SWEngines simply pay for the replacement oil cooler part. I sent pictures and the invoice for the part from eBay.
Their response on 13 July was, “Please be informed that we will get the engine return. Please get the engine ready for pick up so that return label will be sent to you.” I have to prepare the engine and pay to have it sent back to SWEngines and either request a refund – assuming they acknowledge responsibility – or pay to have a replacement shipped to me. What kind of a warrantee is that?
I cannot count the number of times I called SWEngines trying to get help. I cannot count the number of times I was told the someone would get back to me and never once did.
Desired outcome: Request SWEngines pay $325.40 for the repalcement part.
Service and customer support
I purchased a engine for my ram truck on March 22, 2023. Ive been waiting over a month for my engine to be shipped.
I have called over 50 times in the past month to try and get updates. SW engine customer service tells me that they have escalated this order to the shipping manager Stephan? But I have never once gotten a chance to speak with this manager despite all the attempts through phone calls and emails. SW engines keeps pushing my problem off to their shipping department which just so happens to be a totally separate company called Premium parts and solutions.
This had lead me to just more questions as it’s extremely difficult to even get a hold of anyone there. I’ve been told 3 times my order has shipped and at one point they found out it was leaking oil under a pallet. Stocked back in warehouse and no one updated management until I finally got ahold of someone and they found it back on the shelf. (I have proof of this from premium parts and solutions via email as they needed me to sign off on this order to still be shipped. This was on April 21,2023.)
The tracking number premium parts and solutions sent me for Dayton freight, another shipping company, was wrong and they said it was due to Dayton freight adding a “&” at the end of the tracking number. I called Dayton and they informed me that had no information on my order and that their system doesn’t allow them to input characters or letters into their tracking numbers.
I was told on April 29th that Dayton freight was generating a new number for me to ship.
Premium parts and solutions phone number is actually a cell phone from an employee Nick. I rarely receive a text message back but I informed them I would be calling all day just to try and get get ahold of someone. I’m going on over a month at this point without getting a straight answer from anyone. Despite my frustration, I always attempted to be respectful and was told through text that “Spam calling them won’t help” when My phone calls are only to try and speak with someone to discuss my order. His voice mail box is constantly full so you can’t even leave a message with them to request a call back.
Premium parts and solutions then tells me on May 2nd that this engine is being “rescued” From Dayton freight by another shipping company, R&L and that a shipping number would be given “shortly”. I have the email threads, text messages and phone logs to show all my attempts at getting an update on my order.
Im canceling my order and ordering from another Auto parts supplier. I will be leaving reviews and will Never order or recommend SW engines to anyone. This process of passing off the problem has been a nightmare.
Still to this day, I have not received a call back from SW engines customer service or their manager Bill Jones and customer service has never attempted to assist me or cared to call me back with updates.
Desired outcome: Refund

Used engine
Bought an engine on 1/19/2023 from a company, Remanns.
The engine got there on 2/24/23. The engine was bad. I sent the engine back after telling them and following their rules, they sent me the information and on 3/27/2023 the engine was sent back. I have been patiently waiting for a refund of 1395.00.
No phone calls answered, mailbox full, and no emails back from the company. I got ahold of my Discover card and they will not chargeback my money, reason unknown, besides I was told from Supervisor Jessica from Delaware they need to honor their commitment with them. They are a multiply million dollar company.
After much anxiety and stress. I finally found where the engine was delivered and requested the engine back, I got a email from Byrd and he indicated they can't find the engine, and will have to assume the engine did not work. He said he would refund Remanns.
So, I am out 1395.00 and no engined, nothing.
Also when I bought the engine they said on their website they are ASE Certified Mechanics and it was on there on March 6, 2023 but removed by March 26th but it's still on their warranty page, but they are do not have ASE Certified Mechanics, 75% of mechanics would need that certification to put on website. Also the man who signed for the inspection of the engine admitted he was not ASE Certified.
I got SCAMMED
Desired outcome: I want and need my money, I am on disability and that is almost my month check. Please help me someone
If you used SW Engines, Quality Used Transmission, Southwest Engines, Remanns, and Remanns Preminum, Autoparts, etc.
I got scammed 1395.00 for a non working engine

2018 Kia Optima Engine
Order placed on March 20,2023. April 10 received email indicating that engine was placed on truck for shipping and that I would receive a tracking number within 48 hours. I have called every day from April 18 through today April 25 and am told that a shipping manager will respond that day- not received a single call back- when transferred it went straight to a voicemail that was full - was told today that a shipping manager was available and was transferred to a manager named Jones who did not answer and it went to voicemail- would never recommend this company to anyone… ever- will have to seek legal help soon if not resolved
Desired outcome: Receive engine or full refund
Product not as described - buyer beware
Quoted 67k miles "tested" engine. NO paperwork package/proof of records or core return instructions. Shipped on mini pallet, sitting on used tire with one steel band wrapped in shrink wrap. Boy was I a sucker and I thought my online ordering habits were solid. One lapse in judgement wasted almost $2k. No customer service, no order details (repetitive canned responses each call). Shipping notice did arrive late via email so that was about the only positive attribute. The engine that arrived looks like it was pulled from a million mile oil bath and rolled down a concrete driveway. Valve covers were both broken, looks like head gaskets had been replaced, mix match bolts. Heavy carbon deposits in exhaust ports, debris in the intake openings. Oil pan dented, At least 1/8th inch dry gummy oil on entire top half of block, even where there should be no oil. Relatively new looking water pump. Manifold and exhaust mating surfaces scratched. BUYER BEWARE I'm cutting my losses and moving on.
Desired outcome: Working towards refund via credit card company.
#398290 Engine
I purchased a used engine from this company August 2022. When the engine came in it looked horrible and I tried contacting them to get them to pick it up. My customer refused it based on the shape it was ine. I filed a dispute with my credit card company because these people would not return my call. The charge of this engine $1845.00. I have emails talking with Sancho Pike who kept saying he would get it taken care of.
After submitting and dealing credit card company, my credit card company has charged me back, they received this engine back and now will not refund my money. I am working on a year and still nothing.
I talked to a Art in Warranty and she doesn't even know who she works for, can't give the owners name, nothing. All I am asking is my $1845.00 be returned, they have received their engine back, I have all supporting documentation.
Desired outcome: I would like my $1845.00 back, this is all I am asking for. I have back paperwork in a PDF file can you tell me where to send it?[protected]@bellsouth.net
My engine blew up less than a year. 5 year warranty is a fraud!
I purchased a replacement engine for my 2016 kia sorento. It blew up in the middle of the highway why my 67 mother was driving. It was less than a year since we purchased it. They website say the have a 5 year warranty on all engines. I called the warranty department they asked for paperwork, which I sent. I have heard nothing. They said it would take 7 days to get a replacement engine and I could submit papers to get reimbursed for having the engine replaced a second time. That was all a lie. It has been MONTHS. I started the warranty process in December It is now February. I have had to have me car towed twice. Once when it broke down in the middle of the road. And then I had to have it towed from the repair shop because they couldn't keep it for months waiting for the replacement. I had to get a rental car for a month. This has cost me thousands. All because this company sells junk engines and doesn't honor it warranty.
Desired outcome: I would like my replacement sent and a reimbursement of the cost to install it a second time.
Engine not receive 4 mouths
**** Be Aware**** No Professionalism at ALL**** 4 mouths no Engine
I purchased the Set on the 20th, 2022, and I have not received the engine as of today. My invoice number is # 404735. SW "shipping Manager never answer any call after over four months. One of the Managers, Steve, does not even know how to delete his cellphone voicemail it becomes impossible to get anything done if you can not get anyone to give any update. One time I spoke with Nick at shipping that he would call be back but no callback.
Desired outcome: get engine over 4 mouth from the order
Cadillac northstar engine
Ordered a used engine from these guys. Spoke to sales rep regarding condition of engine as well as warranty terms. Had my mechanic order the engine in June.
In October we had received the gasket kit we needed, went to install engine and found it was cracked. SW won't replace or refund, saying part has to be installed within 10 days to activate warranty. This was not explained to me upfront. Want a full $1795 refund
Desired outcome: Refund $1795
SW Engine Warranty
SW Engine had stated that there would be a year warranty on the refurbished engines they sold however they failed to explain in detail that you would have to activate the warranty 10 days after purchase or the warranty would be null and void. I have been contacting them for months and they had me take it to a mechanic to look over the issue. The mechanic stated the issue/knocking noise could lead to the engine failing. I provided them with the mechanic's diagnosis yet they did not respond and now they are telling me that the warranty is null and void because it was not activated. Why have me go through these hoops if it was not covered and also the warranty was deceiving.
Desired outcome: Honor the warranty and replace my engine
Engine for a toyota truck
On [protected] I placed an order for an Engine for a1996 Toyota Tacoma V6 3.4L back then I was given an estimated time of delivery of 2-3 weeks. So at that point it was like ok I’ll wait but then the three weeks passed and then as I called to get an update there was still no answer to when it would arrive. Month and a half later finally engine shows up started checking it out to find out that the engine they had provided didn’t have the milage they said it had they specified the engine had 70k miles when in reality I found a timing belt sticker on the engine that had gotten the timing belt replaced since 2012 and the mikes then was at 170k plus. I immediately called to let them know about the situation and got a return slip right away. A week later they got the engine back and they said the refund process would take 7-14 days. Which its been about a month since they’ve got the engine and after calling over and over they keep saying is on the same status. So with this being said it makes me never want to buy from them again as they failed to provide parts with the specs they specify and also a poor customer service handling.
Desired outcome: Im expecting a full refund as soon as possible since I’ve had to keep my customer waiting and we had to end up doing something else as this process is taking too long but I’m still waiting for my refund.
Bad transmission
My mech who has used swengines before, ordered a transmission for my dodge caravan. It never worked, has less than 4 miles on it. They refuse the 1 year warranty. Swengines told my mech. He did not call them after he installed the tranny, plus he didn’t fill out paperwork and send it to them. No paperwork was ever sent to fill out. In the past, they have never required this paperwork. He is thru with swengines. I paid 1495.00 for bad tranny and paid him 750 to install. I got nothing but ripped off. I had it towed to a local tranny biz that has been in biz for 60 years. Owner looked into this tranny, told me it was trash. I’ve sent this info to the FTC and OK attorney general for fraud.
Desired outcome: Refund or a transmission that works. Honor the 1 year warranty.
Engine for 2007 Dodge Charger

Cancelation #387318
I searched for the best non scam service, I thought, for an engine for my 2007 Dodge Charger. Was offered deal right away with discount of $150 to order then. The web site looked so good, professional so thought all fine. I completed order, paid full amount of $3095 with address and all complete.
My son then told me to check complaints for company to make sure, I immediately saw multiple complaints and warnings. So I called immediately, within 1/2 hour to cancel, Was given run around then sent to supposed Customer Service, but told had to send me another person, which transferred to some private phone with an old lady mad that I had called her not connected with company at all.
I called my credit card company who then called with me stayed online. But same routine, same persons, and again, another phone call to another stranger not related to company also mad we called, the rep from Card Company on line the entire time. I filed dispute with card company at that time, payments pending could not just cancel.
Had another person 3rd party call too, who talked to this same two persons and given same routine but my person insisted strongly, to cancel in no uncertain terms. So was sent text to fill out to cancel order. I did that immediately and received verification it was cancelled. ALL within an hour of the original order.
First thing in morning I checked and the money had cleared. Friday, 14 Jan 2022. I sent a letter to complain and just got back this afternoon that they charged me 25% restocking fee of $773.75 returned only $2321.25 to my card. I replied that I did not accept this and called my CC company and told they would not allow and will investigate but even if works out will take weeks to settle. This business is really a scam, why are they allowed to be in business at all?

Retired disabled vet, 74 yrs of age, not up to this technology age, what happened to honesty? I had tried to cancel within 1/2 hour, but a little of the story below. had my Credit card company rep on line as he tried to call with me on 3 party line, he heard it all. Was sent around then told to hold to transfer to cancel section, but 3 times same, went to some private unrelated person who were quite angry to be called tied to this company. How did they even transfer to some innocent person and hang up. Good I had some help but now, can I get back my $773 plus held for 25% restock fees when ink on papers not even dry.

I had canceled this order within an hour of order, but still my card shows withdraw of full amount of $3095. I filed dispute with credit company. Made completely clear that I wanted this order canceled, so why was the amount taken out?
Larry Anderson
Thats because the banks do that right away. We have no control over that but now since you did a dispute you will be charged a 25% restocking do you agreed to.
Thank You,

Used Transmission
Requested quote from them online. I called the phone number and the ext. shown on the quote and a woman answered. I explained that their website shows two possible transmissions for my car, "from 6/24/14, and thru 6/24/14" and I how could I be sure that the "from 6/24/14" that was quoted is the correct transmission. She asked me if I had the VIN, and I said yes and gave it to her. She then said yes, this is the correct transmission and said to order on the link provided in the quote email, which I did. The completed invoice also shows the VIN that I provided to her on the phone as well. Guess what...when the transmission arrived, my mechanic said that is the wrong one. I contacted them for a refund. Paid $1, 470 which included the free shipping. YOU MUST READ THE WORDING NEXT TO THE BOX YOU CHECK WHEN ORDERING. They will accept the refund, but charged me $490 for shipping both ways, and also a 25% restocking fee, for a total of $858. Received refund amount of $612 from the $1, 470 I paid for their mistake. PLEASE DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
Desired outcome: Full Refund
Engine
Ordered engine. They swapped it for a different engine. They refused to make it right. Paid $2495, they are willing to refund $891 as long as I send the engine back. So they made $1600 for shipping the incorrect item.
Return of car engine invoice 353513
I purchased a car engine on 6/10/2020. I had to return it back to the company as the car wasn't able to be fixed. I've called the company a number of times but did not talk to anyone or got hung up on. Then when I spoke to someone and asked for the return policy information which is not posted anywhere on the website or the invoice no one knew. I asked why they keep over 800 dollars of my money and I would like a copy of where all my money went and once again I was hung up on.
Rude customer service, unreasonable warranty requirements
I purchased an engine from this company "SWEngines". The engine was sent to a Mechanic.
During shipping my car was stolen from my driveway. I spoke with a warranty person who told me to have the Engine rejected when it arrived from my Mechanic. My Mechanic failed to do so but that's another issue. He was going to waive the shipping fee and just charge a 25% restocking fee which he was going to try and have that waived too since I was dealing with the theft and all.
I called and Called trying to see if the Engine had arrived back at the company only to find out weeks later it was still at the mechanics. I asked for Managers and personnel to return my calls. No one did. My wife called and spoke with a sales person who was rude to her and hung up on her.
Today 09/24/2018 I called and Spoke with a "Warranty Manager" who told me he couldn't waive any of the fees if I returned it and then he told me to stop calling. Although he rudely told me to have a good day it was over at that point my blood was boiling.
Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.
Monetary Loss: $1495.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
I didn't like: Failed to meeting shipping dates, Service after warranty invoked, Customer service, Unreasonable warranty requirement, Rude staff.

I purchased an engine and a turbo from SW Engines for my 2000 Volvo. The engine was guaranteed a warranty for 5 years. First the turbo was defective and they did send a replacement, however the engine blew as well. They did send payment to my shop which was only for 50.00 per hour when our shop had charged 125.00 per hour to replace the turbo. I was told that 50.00 per hour was all they would pay. When the engine blew, I was denied a replacement or the warranty guarantee.
My wife was grateful that they had sent and paid for the turbo and expressed gratitude, albeit premonitory prior to learning they would not pay the the shops price per hour. As for the warranty on the engine, they flatly refused to replace it or pay for services. We live on social security and live in a rural area on a fixed income. This has been devastating! The only reason we choose SW Engines was because of the warranty they advertised. We cannot afford an attorney or to sue. Therefore we are simply out of 2, 040.00 and no funds, a worthless car and no resources left to buy another car... Buyer Beware... They are crooks.
