Worst Mattress Ever
We paid over $4K for a top of the line Stearns & Foster. Within 6 months a noticeable dip started to form on my side. I only weigh 190 pounds spread out over 6'. The mattress can not be flipped or rotated like most innerspring mattresses because the euro style pillowtop is only on one side, the bottom side is hard as all get out. By 12 months the dip was permanent at about 2", and now, just 4 years since purchase, the dip remains at 4&1/2" deep. NEVER AGAIN Stearns & Foster. You'll also notice the lack of a customer comments area on their website, presumably because there are lots of other folks like us here who would leave negative comments where prospective buyers could see how lousy and overpriced their mattresses are. I did get some satisfaction a few months ago when one of my co-workers mentioned his intent to purchase a Stearns & Foster mattress, but after I spoke with him he ended up buying a Dream Sleeper mattress through the Ayres Hotel chain.

After purchasing the complete Stearns and foster king size mattress set, I noticed that ist had began to sag on one side. i contacted the store I purchased it from and voiced a complaint. I was told by Ms. Valerie and others at the corporate office, and the warranty office that there will be an additional charge of $99.00 for replacement after they come out...

I purchased a Stearns & Foster mattress/boxspring several months ago. Soon after receipt, I contacted Macy's due to the mattress sagging & was told "it wan't sagging enough". Some time has gone by and the more I think about it, the angrier I get. I spent a lot of money and I am very unhappy. The mattress is still sagging & I am very uncomfortable. I wake up every morning with back pain that I never had before. I would appreciate someone taking the time to contact me @ [protected] or [protected]@yahoo.com so that something can be done. Bad Mattress
I purchased a new Stearns and Foster mattress through the Mattress King in Jonesboro. It was delivered in a muddy pickup truck and brought into our new home by a kid in greasy boots and jeans, which got onto our new carpet. From June through October I have tried to get Stearns and Foster to honor their mattress warranty. After 5 months of use the pillow top material has shifted toward the center of the mattress resulting in "crowning" (Stearns and Foster words). The effect is that you feel like your laying on an incline and rolling out of the bed. S&F suggested that we lay in the center of the bed when reading or watching TV( we do neither of these). In effect this response by S&F is an admission that there is a problem with the mattress but this defect is not something they choose to acknowledge under their warranty. The mattress has since been discarded and replaced with another brand.

I bought my Stearns and Foster mattress a little over 2 years ago but have been having problems with it almost from the start. I weigh 120 lbs and there has been an indentation in my mattress which started to form several months after purchasing it. I wake up everyday with backaches and mattress covers have not helped. I mistakenly pulled off the tags so have no hope of ever getting any money back. I plan to throw it out.
In 2006 my mother passed away. She swore by her Sternsand Foster matress, by the way she had it for twenty years. I bought my matress set four years ago, and let me tell you it was a big mistake. My mom was over two hundred pounds and never had any problems with her matress. I weigh onehundred and twentyseven pounds, and I am sleeping on the BUMPY ROAD TO WHEREVER. This is a dissgrase. When did you start selling inferior products? When people spend extra to have a name thats superior to other and get crap its seems to me that it's a fraud. I will never again praise your product, and I will inform anyone who will listen that you sell CRAP.

We bought a top of the line Stearns & Foster Mattress with the expectation that it would last at least 10 years or more. Do not buy a sternes and foster mattress. I have had the same problemsof sagging and received no help from the company. A 10 year warrenty is a tool to get you to purchase. I wonder what the return rate is vs. their replacement rate?
I have the pillow top Stearns & Foster queen size mattress with the very same issues. So far I can't get the company rep to even call me. I spoke with the furniture company that sold me the mattress 3 times to no avail. Everything I have found on the internet regarding Stearns & Foster is not very favorable both in quality and service. 3K is a lot of money to spend on something that doesn't last three years. BBB is our next step to try and solve this problem.
Indentation in mattress - 2 times!
We purchased the "top of the line" mattress in November 2004 for right under 3K from Mattress Warehouse - a Stearns & Foster King Set, ultra plush Euro pillow top. Within a few months it had developed a HUGE indentation in the middle that we would fall in to. We followed the waranty procedure and it was replaced finally in July 2006. The new mattress was the "Grant PArk" model - a latex mattress costing around 5K (per salesman). Within a few months this mattress, too, has started having a huge hole in the middle that you have to pull yourself out of. My husband and I are average size adults and we were out of state for over 3 months last year and didn't even use it. 3 months ago we started the warranty replacement process again. Mattress Warehouse has been impossible to deal with so we contacted Stearns and Foster. They were worse - no customer service at all. After filing a complaint with the BBB and continuing to pursue this we just received approval for a replacement mattress last week. Mattress Warehouse has advised to look in to another brand - HOWEVER - insisting that Stearns & Foster is the best and they rarely have problems with them. I wish there was a consolidated place where we could list our experiences so people looking at mattresses in the future could learn from what we have gone through. S & F makes low quality mattresses at high prices.
Wish I had read this before buying the Stearns & Foster April Rose mattress. We bought it in Dec 2014 and had severe sagging within a couple of years. But when you get off of it, the foam comes back up so you never can measure the 1.5" of sag they say is "normal". It might have been a good standard for a spring mattress, but not for this hybrid with 5" of memory foam. Our king mattress has 2 valleys with a mountain in the middle. While it doesn't measure 1.5" of sag when you get off, it provides little support and sinks way down when you get back on it. Now it's causing back pain problems. I'll never buy another Seally/Stearns & Foster or any other memory foam mattress.
Year and a half old and our king size S&F has two huge indentatations. You roll into the holes every night. Mattress Firm was our retailer. Absolutely regret not keeping our old mattress, it was 12 years old and still better than this year and half old wavy mattress.
We are gonna have to buy a new mattress if was want our backs to stop hurting and want to get a good nights sleep.
Its the same in Canada, too, folks. We bought a top-of-the-line Sterns & Foster mattress from The Brick. Within 6 months, the foam in one corner felt as though it was breaking down or almost crumbling apart. Out came the technician. (Let me pause here to ask, "technician"? Give me a break!) We were told that it was normal breaking-in. Complaint rejected. At 15 months, a giant crater had formed on my husband's side. He's 225 lbs. BUT I'M 120 LBS SOAKING WET AND I HAVE MY OWN CRATER! In addition, the top layer of fabric on the mattress has come away from the surface and bunches up nightly into a 3 inch high version of the Rocky Mountains straight across the middle of the bed. When the chiropractor bills started to add up, and the people who sold us the bed in the first place saw the pictures and said, "You should apply for a refund", I insisted we buy a Tempur-Pedic and we put the Sterns & Foster in the garage. Good riddance! Out came the "technician" again. He yanked the top layer down, told us that was normal (on what planet?), and measured the sag (with alligator clips and a piece of sting! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) at 1 1/4 inch. Complaint rejected. I'm reporting S&F to the Canadian BBB. These guys are not only crooks, but their mattress "science" is laughable!
I completely agree with all of these comments! I too purchased the firmest Stearns and Foster mattress from the so called Bedding Experts for $2, 500 last year. Within a month, it was like sleeping in a canoe. The sagging is unbelievable. We are not big people and would not expect this from such an expensive set. My first mistake was going to The Bedding Experts, secondly buying a Stearns and Foster. WARRANTY, WHAT WARRANTY? I have been told that I would have to pay $59.00 just to have it inspected. With the amount of complaints about these mattresses, WE SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED A DIME MORE! I wake up each morning with an aching back. I have taken some attached pictures to show the sagging. I rotate at least every two months to get a day or two relief. A CLASS action lawsuit needs to be filed against this company. I would be the first in line if there were. I have already told my friends who have been looking for a new mattress set NOT TO BUY A STEARNS AND FOSTER. I HATE IT!

I will say that S&F did send out there inspector and measured and checked all the tags to make sure everything was in order.
After the inspector looked at the bed an said our mattress was the worst he has ever seen and took his measuring device (which he had was neat tool) it measured 2.5 inches
and sent his report to the company and they called me an told me to go to local store an tell them that we are here to try out there new line of Mattresses an pick one out and call them and if there where a price difference if it where more expensive we would pay the extra amount, which seemed fair to us, or they would send one out that was like what we had the first time, , anyway we ended up picking out one of there WilliamStad (Ultra Firm) Mattress which is firmer than we had but what a great Mattress it is so far, it cost a $164.00 dollars to have it delivered to us and the company put the mattress in place and where very nice people !
It did take a few weeks to get claim taken care of but it was worth the wait..
We have also found out that S&F was bought out by Tempur- Pedic ...

I was just getting ready to buy a new matteress and was going to get the S&f friendfield now after reading these reviews I am thinking I shouldnt. my sister bought a king darlington 7 years ago and they just love it and no issues. they would never buy another brAND they ove it so much. sounds like they got lucky!
I bought a S&F Cal King and Have the same issues, (Sinking into bed)
S&F was contacted by us and Had us measure, take pictures and name them and send to them, now they want to send inspector out to look at it after they had me tear the bed down and take pictures and re assemble it, why did they waste my time?
I think all the people need to get together an get an attorney that will file a Class action law suite against the company, we may not win but we may keep other people from
buying very expensive JUNK!
I went to the company I bought the mattress from and they no
longer carry there products because of the warranty issues are not taken care of

We bought an expensive pillow-top mattress. Thornwood Luxury Firm, Stearn and Foster. We were given a 10 year warranty. It has a deep trench in the middle of the bed. We were required to pay an independent inspector to come out and measure the sag in the bed if we wanted to send in a warranty claim. We did. The inspector tests the bed without an weight on it. It measured 7/8" depression. It needed to measure 1 1/2". When you put weight on the bed in the middle it sinks 6" or more. We didn't get any satisfaction from Ortho who we bought the bed from, nor Stearns and Foster. Don't buy one. It is a waste of money. You'd be better off sleeping on the floor.
I bought a king size Stearns and Foster Fiona 2 years ago. This mattress is garbage and is highly defective. Stearns and Foster will not honor their warranty at all. I am hiring a lawyer and will be contacting the attorney general in my state. I am also contacting the better business bureau. This is deceptive trade. Poor quality sold at a premium price. The warranty is a pack of lies. No customer satisfaction at all. This company should be put out of business.
This is our third Sterns and Foster mattress we have had to return in less than 3 years, same issue with all 3, sagging and a big hump in the middle, now our replacement feels like we are sleeping on a rock, the mattress is shorter than our last one, so now it is down in a hole, on a low profile box spring, which they say they can not replace without a charge because it is over a year old, they ran the delivery truck off in my yard, and scratched my new hardwood floor dragging mattress across, said we waiting too long to file a report, ( 3 days ) WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER ! I am contacting the BBB and our local T.V. station! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ! :(
You will regret the day you bought the mattress!
We took delivery of a Stearns & Foster Bond Street King mattress and box springs December of 2005. It was sold to us by Finger Furniture Stores at their Sugar Land, Texas location. This mattress was recommended as the new top of the line set by the salesman. This model was an upgrade from the previous Stearns and Foster we purchased from Fingers that was extremely uncomfortable a short time after we bought it. Fortunately we had a one time exchange if we were not satisfied. The bad part is the new Bond Street model within 6 months started to sag so bad we have to throw are legs out to help pull our body out of the depression in the mattress. Back pain and leg pain from this poorly supported mattress are now so bad we sleep on the couches. They are more comfortable than this $3500.00 bed/mattress. Fingers was notified to see what could be done. They sent a technician out to look at the bed. They replied back by letter they could not warranty the bed because of stains on the mattress. There are no stains on the mattress. We paid extra to get the mattress cover to protect it from stains. I will not shop Fingers again. We now are paying on this expensive bed and can't even sleep on it. I have seen similar reviews with the same problems with the Stearns & Foster products. I would not recommend Stearns and Foster products to anyone. I hope people heed this warning. When you check a mattress pay close attention on how firm the first two feet of the sides are when you sit on the edge. If it is not firm and you notice the sides crunch down you will regret the day you bought the mattress. Honestly if this mattress cost a $1.00 I would not buy it.
Bought my mattress in 2015. The buttons are coming thru and even though we turn it once a month it is sagging in the middle. We are small people.
TRYING TO EXCHANGE MY MATTRESS WITHIN THE 90 DAY WINDOW. they are simply unreachable. Called them and 6,5 (!) hours still waiting or a call back.
I have a Queen size Stearns and Foster box and matress set. Not long after I slept in it I started getting neck pain. It radiated up into back of head. At first I attributed it to TMJ, however after going on vacation and sleeping on my old mattress (10 years old) in my camper I realize it is the mattress. My chest and back sink into it but my head is propped up by my pillow. If I sleep without a pillow it is less intense but I usually find myself looking for the pillow as I move from side to side and wind up using it and getting a sore neck. I am looking to replace it it is only 2 years old. I do rotate it and it is a pillow top. I tried elevating the head to lessen the effect, but it is not enough.
