Warrantee
I purchase a S&F Sunshine Estate King mattress. After a few years, rotating every couple of months, I found that I was sleeping in such a hole on my side of the mattress it was actually difficult to roll over as I would be rolling up hill. I contacted S&F and they sent me back to where I purchased the mattress, The Great Indoors. The Great Indoors couldn't help me because I didn't have a receipt. I went back to S&F and went through their process of pictures, and measurements. The mattress still has the tag with the construction date which is still well within warrantee. Again they sent me to The Great Indoors, which has since closed down. No one was telling me my complaint was not valid. I was caught in a process that they could just push me off. I purchased what I thought was a high quality product from a reputable company and felt I was just given the run around with now options to solve my problem.
Lux Estate Lucille
Bought brand new Stearns & Foster Lux Estate Lucille- Plush Euro Pillow Top mattress, paid $3300, and it is rock hard, like laying on a cement block. Have been in severe back pain since first sleeping on it. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ASLEY'S. ONCE BOUGHT YOU CANNOT RETURN and absolutely nothing has been done to date. STEARNS & FOSTER need to take a good look at the springs in their bed. Nothing could make a bed that hard. Nothing. And it has to be thrown away.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Stearns & Foster refuses to return any form of communications with it's consumers. I have been trying through email addresses, Phone numbers posted by the company on their web site for customer service, been tol that they are having technical difficulties and will return my calls. THEY DO NOT RETURN THE CALLS. and ALL emails are forwarded back to me.
Just how do you reach a company that falsifies all forms of communication when there is a problem?
NEVER, NEVER, spend this kind of money before doing your homework on what kind of company you are investing in. And for the store of purchase ...if they already have this knowledge of this cimpany and continue to sell thier products, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. IHEY ARE JUST AS FAULT AS THE MANUFACTURER IS.
I bought a king size stern& foster mattress from raymour &flanigan in 2010 for the first 4 years it was comfortable now my mattress start sinking I call raymour &flanigan I was told that they are unable to change my mattress because it need to be 1.5" sag is required before changing my bedding they came two times I am very unhappy after spending so much money for my comfort. I am taking my complaint as far as I can go. I am very with customer service from raymour&flaigan.
The mattress sags...It is like crawling out of a hole when I get out of the bed. My wife sinks into me. It is almost like a water bed where the heavier person creates an indention that the smaller person falls into. This mattress kills my back and we had to replace with another mattress.
We loved this mattress~at first. The king-size unit was delivered on Sept 29th, 2012 and was like sleeping on a comfortable cloud, which was sincerely appreciated given I was 9 months pregnant when my husband and I started sleeping on it.
Within months, however, the mattress began to sag. Having had Sealy mattresses in the past, we were quite surprised and turning the mattress every 60 days only seemed to make the sags occur in more places and become worse.
I contacted Ashley Furniture who referred me to customer care. Service came out and deemed the mattress to have more than the 1.5" required sag for warranty coverage (was just a smidge over 1.75" in some areas). The tech took photos and placed the order for a replacement mattress. We figured it was a fluke so ordered the same Lucille model.
Service was out on April 12th, 2013. As of today May 22nd there is still no replacement and Ashley Furniture has had a difficult time obtaining information from their Sealey reps.
I am now holding Ashley Furniture responsible as a few days ago, I learned that their service department didn't even place the replacement order until May 1st.
I'm at a loss as to where to go from here. Frustrated and concerned with the lack of quality/customer care by Sealey regarding this costly mattress and with Ashley Furniture for severely dropping the ball and standing behind the product they sold us.
I also bought a Stearns and Foster Lucille mattress form Ashley furniture. Within two weeks the matress started to sag. When I called
the store regarding the waranty, I was told they would only take it back if I paid an extra 20% which would have bee at least $500.00.
I also called Stearns and Foster and was told that the mattress would have to sag ond and onehalf inches for the waramty to be honored. This seemed a lot for a two-week old mattress. They also displayed the mattress on the floor so you would not be aware of
how tall it was until you put it on a frame. I had to buy a step stool in order to get into bed.
My bedskirt is too short, my coverlet is too short and it is difficult to find sheets to fit. It is impossible to find ready made bedding to fit
this mattress.
I am stuck with a mattress I hate that cost me $2300.00 for that is very unconfortable. I will never buy another thing from Asley
furniture . I guess I, m better off than the person who paid $3300.00
Your complaint is more based on the firmness of the mattress rather than the quality of craftsmanship and quality of materials. It is very rare if not nearly impossible to poorly manufacture a spring once the design is in place. How many people do you know that have returned a car to the dealer complaining of the ride quality of the car due to faulty springs? I believe your issue could have been avoided simply be trying out the mattress at the store for more than a few seconds.
WHAT A JOKE! [censored]! THIS BED IS THE BEST OUT THERE. YOU SADLY PICKED THE WRONG STYLE FOR YOU, NOW BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE FOR YOUR PROBLEMS, IF DEFECT S&F WILL WARRANTY- BUT NOT FOR STUPIDITY-ASHLEY HAS A 60 NIGHT SLEEP GUARANTEE WHICH YOU CAN RE SELECT. KNOWING YOUR DUMB ### YOU PROBABLY DIDNT PUT A MATTRESS PROTECTOR ON IT AND NOW YOUR DNA, STAINS, ETC ALL OVER MATTRESS THUS VOIDING THE WARRANTY. iF CASMERE, SILKED LINED COVER, DUEL INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED COILS, AND BOTH HIGH END LATE AND MEMORY FOAM ARENT FOR YOU THEN MAYBE NEXT TIME TRY A BUNKBED MATT FOR $99.
Kingsize mattress
I purchase a kingsize mattress in 2009 Stearns and Foster, on each side the mattress where we sleep it leaves a depression that does not come out, when you make the bed you can still see it, we complain and they replace us with a new one on November 2010. Now with the new one it has done the same thing, depression on both sides you make the beds with a big...

Upon entering the store a sales associate greeted us with a "Flip it to Win" card. We flipped a 30% coupon deal. Proceeded to the mattress area & after some evaluation of different types of mattress, we chose a Stearns & Foster York Place Plush top Queen mattress & box spring set priced at $2199.97. Sales person departed to confirm the sale & the discount with another sales associate. (Discount being 20% off any mattress over $799) Since my "flip card" was an additional 30% meant that we were entitled to a total discount of 50%. Moments later the sales clerk returned with another associate to announce that the mattress we were buying did not qualify for the discount. They advised us that any item on sale did not qualify for the "flip card" discounts. The mattress we were looking at however, was not a sale price & immediately above the price there was the card showing the "flip it to win card" promotion. We were then informed that the mattress we were looking at was in fact on sale for $1700. Deceptive advertising at it's worst! The Brick obviously can tell the senior shoppers anything they want to avoid giving the appropriate discount. Left in disgust.
We did not fail to read the card. The exact wording on the "flip card" read as follows:
"Exludes discounted, clearance, "Hot Buy" deals, Buyer's Best Buys, Modesto, promoted offers, packages & Tempur-pedic. Minimum mattress set purchase $799. Offer Valid Apr 10 - May 2, 2012."
We were at the store on May 1, 2012. The mattress we were buying was cleary not exluded. It only became exluded when we were informed that it had been discounted but the price in the store had not been reduced. In addition, a "flip it to win" advertisement was attached to the price tag for the mattress which clearly indicated the mattress set we were buying qualified for the "flip it to win" coupon offer. When we opened the flip card and saw the 30% off, the sales person was very surprised. She indicated it was the first time she had seen anyone get a discount that high. It seems pretty obvious we were exluded from obtaining the discount simply because the store was unwilling to give such a large discount (50%). We never did get to talk to the Manager of the store as he/she was conveniently unavailable. The sales staf would, however, sell us the mattress for $1700 which they attempted to do - without success I might add. We believe their actions in this case border on criminal intent to defraud. If you check the Bricks online store, nowhere is the mattress we were dealing on, listed as being on sale. Online, It sells for the same price was saw in the store $2199.97. We will never shop at the Brick again!
Most sales promotions have the exception that 'this discount cannot be used with any other offer' or something similar. If the 'flip card' you had doesn't have anything like that on the back, then you are likely right, however most big companies cover themselves before they start these promotions, so I suspect you just didn't read it.
Deceptive warranty
Sears and their product Stearns and Foster matresses proide very deceptive warranty. I spent lots of extra money to buy the Stearns and Foster EXPENSIVE mattress based on the 'super' warranty. This turned out to be a hoax. Everyone should know about how this works. They don't explain it when you spend the money - only when the mattress fails. The warranty...

I worked for an Insurance agency (Moody Ins. ) that was owned by Community National Bank (now Stearns Bank) in Venice, FL. The bank went under. As employees, we had the choice, when we were hired, to invest in bank stock by having a percentage taken out of our paychecks each pay period. I chose 3%.
For the three years I worked there I had that amount taken out. I KNOW a lot of banks failed but what really chafes me is that the bank President – Charles K Graham came to our office many times and told us the bank was okay. Not to take our money out! Right before it went under and was taken over by Stearns Bank Charles Graham came to our office and told us that the Board had invested $5m of their money back into the bank to keep it solvent.
Then no letter, no nothing, the bank went under! All of my money and everyone else’s who had enrolled in the program lost their money. Charles K Graham is still at the bank even though it is now Stearns Bank. He is doing very well!
I lost my job in 2009 and finally have a job interview for a possible job. Every time I see Charles Graham out and about driving his fancy car and dressed to the tees I just want to cry. I want all of my money back. Charles Graham KNEW the bank was failing and he had to have lied about the board members putting all of that money into the bank.
Can anything be done? Even to Charles Graham?
Thanks for this info. I was considering opening an account with Stearns in Venice, Florida but now I will pass
Horrible Bed
Bought this mattress 2 months ago and it is horrible! Paid money for a top of the line mattress we can not use. My husband and I both are waking up in severe pain. Called furniture store where purchased no help. Once you buy a mattress your out all the money with no help. Also called Stearns and Foster with no help, same thing. They say it's just a comfort issue not warranty so not their problem. That's why you get to try them out in the store. Sorry I don't feel that's right, you lay on mattress for a few minutes in the store and make a decision, my goodness you don't spend the night in the store! So o guess it's ok to just throw almost $2000.00 out the window. Obviously Stearns & Foster don't care about happy customers and neither does Knoxville Wholesale Furniture!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have the same issue, I bought the bed at Steinhoufels and after 4 months had to have the bed replaced due to sagging. Last week I had to call again ( 4 months later) having the same issue. The man came out, took measurements, turned the matterss and sent an email today saying it's a comfort issue. This is nuts, I have never in all of my years had 2 mattersses do this in a short period of time. I guess the only thing I can do is call them every other month until something is done.
Mattress has no integrity!
We purchased a king size Stearns and Foster top of the line mattress 13 months ago from a reputable furniture chain for over $2, 000.00. The mattress has formed two craters with a moutain in-between my husband and me. It's like sleeping in a cup. I could no longer ignore it when I had a wonderful night's sleep in a hotel, and then dreaded coming home to my own bed. It's been a real live nightmare. My husband said the bed isn't fit for bedbugs!
Same experience. Mattress is garbage after one year. We are sleeping in sink holes!

I'm sure your mattress has some sort of warranty? Have you contacted your store of purchase or manufacturer? You may be able to exchange for something else.
MATTRESS
Within a few weeks of purchasing a $1700. Stearns and Foster pillow top king size mattress from a Mattress King store. it developed about 1" indentations on each side when not under load, enough so that my wife was waking up every morning with a severe backache. We both weigh 150# or less. When we went back to the store and complained, they gave us some preprepared paperwork to fill out and submit to S & F. But the paperwork actually said that this condition was normal and not subject to warranty. So I called the S & F rep for our area and he basically told me the same thing, but the capper is they want to charge us a $50 fee just to come out and do an inspection having already told us that it would not be covered. Then I went on line and discovered all the dozens of similar complaints re S & F mattresses. I don't get it. How do they get away with this? Isn't there somebody out there that is in a position to organize some kind of class action lawsuit, or at least an expose' and a barrage of negative publicity, maybe from "Consumer Reports" or a TV consumer report or something of that nature. We have actually turned our mattress 90 degrees which works for now comfort wise but it hangs over the frame on the sides and is short top and bottom because the mattress is not square.
hole in the middle
I too purchased top of line stearns & foster, the plaza, manhattan reserve, queen size, 2 1/2 years ago, I am only one person, 120 pounds, w/in four months the edges remained firm, however, in the middle was a significant dip, making it impossible to sleep there. I now sleep on edges, if I roll into middle, will awaken with back pains. I wish I had reviews of this item, I dread the thought of having to deal w/stearns & foster; they don't even appear to have a telephone number to complain to (hah hah hah, why am I not surprised).
Buckingham Mattress Sags
We purchased a Stearns and Foster from a reputable department store for about $1200. We thought it was a good deal for a top-of-the-line mattress. Much to our dismay, the mattress sagged in the middle about 6 months later. Of course the warranty is void at this point in time. But for those considering purchasing a Stearns and Foster Buckingham mattress, be vary!
horrible mattress
In 2008 we purchased box springs from ennis furniture in Boise Idaho. This is a top of the line store and sells Stearns and Foster, never have to turn, top of line box spring and mattress. We paid approximately two thousand five hundred dollars for the product and it has been a disaster, including speed bumps, and permanent indentations, making sleeping a nightmare (no pun intended). We only spend three months a year sleeping on this horribly overrated joke, as it is a vacation home. We will now contact the dealer, but have not done so earlier because of the hassle and headache. After reading that we are not alone with respect to the deficiencies of this (Stearns and Foster) allegeded top of the line product, we will immediately contact the furniture store and see what happens. However, we would never buy this product again and would have been better off with anything for a fifth of the price!

strong chemical odor makes my eyes burn
On 7/21 Sears delivered to us a Stearns and Foster mattress we selected by lying on it in the store. We also tried mattresses at Carson's, Macy's and Bloomingdale's. In no store that we were in was there a strong chemical smell coming from any mattress we lay down on. From the time our mattress was delivered to us by Sears, the chemical smell coming off it was overpowering. It got even worse when we lay down on it. I woke after 4 hours with burning eyes and face and tingling lips and tongue. I could not sleep with my face down because of the stench. Everything that came in contact with the bed stank - bedding, pillows, skin. It is now 1 week later and things are only slightly better. I cannot sleep on the bed or even be in the room with it. Sears does not want to take it back. Says smell is normal and it will go away.

I purchased a sterns and foster lux estate Mattress new from mattress firm. It’s been a week it still smells mildewy I’m not sure if it’s off gas but it makes my eyes burn and the smell is annoying
On Saturday, May 7, 2016, we received our very expensive Stearns & Foster mattress. The following day, the chemical smell became stronger. We let the furniture store where we bought it know we were very upset with the odor coming from it and were told to let it air out for a few days & the smell should go away. It never smelled while in the show room. The smell seems to be getting stronger as the days pass, not weaker. It was so strong this morning, that my eyes and throat burned. We have had the mattress up on end and propped against the wall with all the windows open in the room, an industrial fan pointing at it and the door shut to the rest of the house. We took off the mattress protector & sheets to let it air out completely. Hopefully it will air out before the end of next week as we are having guests and have nowhere to put them at the moment.
We recently bought (3) new mattresses from Macy's here in Seattle. (2) of the (3) beds did not smell. The (2) that didn't smell were both smaller beds (a full size Seally, and a queen size Serta) but the (3rd mattress a king size Serta) smelled awful. The smell was horrible, like the worst chemical smell you can imagine, we opened our windows, put the mattress on its side so air could get to both sides, and nothing helped. We waited three weeks before we couldn't take it any longer. I called Macy's and they were great about the return process and told us to go pick out another mattress. So the following week we went, found a different mattress maker, Stearns and Foster. They picked up our old mattress and the delivery/pickup guys face was priceless when he entered our room, his face said it all but he also said "oh my god what's that smell, it's the mattress huh?" And I said yep. The new Stearns and Foster mattress is equally as bad. Just like the mattress before (the Serta) it made our pillows and sheets wreak like chemicals. We went and bought a mattress topper just so we don't have to sleep in direct contact with the mattress (a sheet in between us and the bed is not enough). What do we have to do to get a bed that isn't covered in chemicals? This should be illegal!
I purchased a Streans and Foster Bed that was delivered on January 1st and was told to let the bed air out for 2 to 3 hours. I let it air for 3 days than put on my thick mattress pad and made the bed, and was ready to have a good night sleep. I had noticed that their was a strong odor when I entered the room, which I thought was coming from outside, but when I laid down I knew it was coming from the mattress. I called Mattress Discounters the next day and was told that it was from the Memory foam in the mattress and to spray it with Fabrees and that waould take care of the smell. Now it is the 22nd of January and the smell is still their. I think that people should be told their is a chemical smell that comes from the mattress before you buy. All bedding takes on the smell, and gets wash about every four days to let the mattress air. I get headaches from the odor, so I sleep on the couch alot. Called the store again on Jan. 22nd and told to give it a little longer. I guess the couch will be my bed for a while. I will
make sure I ask if the bed has memory foam before I buy another mattress.
sagging mattress
I bought my Stearns and Foster mattress at Mattress Firm. I have always had back problems and was willing to pay whatever was necessary to insure a good night's sleep. I was impressed with the company's warranty and was assured by the sales person that it would be honored if I had any sagging problems. Because I suffer from scoliosis I need the bed to remain firm. Any sagging or "conforming to body indentations" results in pinched nerves and pain. I was assured that this mattress would hold up. After only 3 yrs of use (I am less than 130 lbs.), it developed a sag in the middle enough to roll me toward the center, causing back pain and sleeplessness. When called out to inspect, I was told that it was a "normal body indentation" and was not enough to be covered by the warranty. I called them back one yr. later at a $25 expense to hear the same thing. I might mention that at approx. the same time my 200+ lb.boyfriend bought a less expensive Stearns and Foster, and his mattress is still firm. Stearns and Foster needs to stand by their product, and make good on those that do not deliver the quality that is expected from such a high end mattress. When I specifically asked for a mattress that would not sag, I did not expect to buy one that would sag "within limits". It is not a small matter to get 3-4 hours of sleep and wake up with numb hands and stiffness. I know that it cuts cost to charge for a 3rd party to come out and measure/evaluate, but sometimes customer service has to go beyond the numbers and evaluations and meet the needs of the customer.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I would like to know what the name of your Stearns & Foster was and the prize range you paid? Also, was it a Euro top or plain pillow top? I'm inquiring because we are interested in purchasing a Stearns and Foster from Sleepy's. Another site I was on told of that problem with Stearns and Foster also.
Thank you.
Fraudulant warrenty
Stearns & Foster matress set, Worth Avenue, paid almost $2K.
This is a "FIRM" mattress and within a year and a half has turned into mush. Two deep body impressions in normal sleeping positions and sides are sinking. Bed frame is rock solid without any sign of sagging, our body weight is normal, 175 & 125 lbs.
We know have twin coffins. Back & neck pain, sleepless nights of tossing and turning, this matress is a torture chamber.
Our store Mattress Showroom, of the metro Charleston, SC area has deferred our claims and even told us they no longer handle S $ F warrenty problems. Sealy tells me as a distributor, they are contractually obligated to do so. I have contacted Sealy, they acted outraged at the point of sale distributor and promised to call me right back, that was three weeks ago, still no call. I have tracked down the local Stearns & Foster rep, he tells me warrenty claim is in the works, oddly I have not received a claim #, and my calls are going unreturned.
We have been trying to get this mattress replaced for 5 weeks and have only got the run-around from the seller, the rep, and the company. Stay away from Stears & Foster / Sealy, stay away from Matress Showroom of Charleston. Otherwise you will be sleeping on the sofa because your bed is un-usable.
6 month old mattress
Bought a top of the line matress in 8-2009, and 6 months later there is a spring pertruding out of the side of mattress and the pillowtop is completely shifted to one side. We called taft furniture and a service tech came out to view the mattress and took pics. He said for sure that is a covered warranty issue and there would be no issue in replacing the mattress. A week later we received a letter stating that the mattress was not going to be covered because of "unsanitary conditions" unsanitary meaning "1" drool stain. What does that with the springs malfunction in the mattress. The mattress is junk and after six months I have no support just a company with a scapegoat trying to dodge the reel problem, Fix my mattress you crooked people. Wake up and realize this is a new mattress and people sleep on these products not hang them on the wall! Never do business with Taft or Sealy Stearns and Foster.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Although it sucks... The Manufacturer's warranty card states that a stain aka Unsanitary Conditions will void your warranty.
It's not the mattress retailer's fault. It's the Manufacturer's warranty that sucks. I sell these rectangles so trust me... The warranty sucks... but yuo can get a waterproof cover to protect yourself from this next tiem.
Dangerous or fatal
I purchased a thumb assist to install on my ATV or 4-wheeler generally known as a thumb saver which is supposed to reduce fatigue when the vehicle is used for extended periods of time. I installed it per instructions and it worked freely and everything appeared to be in order. Later when we went riding our 4-wheelers I went to turn around in a trail that...

1st of all I researched your matress and decided it was the very best I could buy and so I did. At 70 years old, it would be the last one I planned to have. My other was over 25 years and in good shape, looked like new. THE 1st matress I purchased nearly $2, 000 marked down from $3, 600 clearly showed dirt on it even though it was wrapped in plastic from...
Read full review of Stearns & Fosterindent in mattress
We bought an extra firm mattress in March of 2007. We got in touch with the store and told them we were developing an indent in the mattress. A technician came and looked at the mattress. He told us that the indents were only 1 inch and they have to be 1 and 1/2 inch deep before they will do anything. They also said we should not sit on the edge of the bed because the mattress are not made to take the pressure. I paid $1500 for the mattress and I AM NOT SUPPOSE TO SIT ON THE BED. How am I suppose to get into the bed, jump. 3 days went by before we heard anything from the store. I am very very disappointed in the Stearns and Foster mattress and will be throwing it out. I will go back to my SEALY POSTURPEDIC mattress and will be buying one at another store in Stroudsburg. I was also never told to register the warranty or explained anything about the mattress. I have a son who bought one because we did and he is very unsatisfied also. Friends bought one but they got their's replaced, I wish I knew how they did it.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
we also had the same problems with 3 different companies, craters, lumps, sore neck and aching backs. we finally gave up as none of the companies would do anything even after having someone (the sent) out to measure the indentations.
Now we sleep on lazy-boy recliners and get a good nights rest!
Defective, sagging, poor customer service
Purchased a S&F King Mattress in 2006. Paid almost $2, 500. "Holes/sagging" from early on - within first year. Once you get stuck in it, can't roll out. Caused considerable back pain as well. Contacted store - Art Van who sent someone out to review. Sagging was only 3/4"; not enough to merit a response. Filed a claim with Sealy/S&F in 2007 --- poor, poor, unresponsive customer service. Non answered phone calls, terrible web claim management. The sagging has just become worse and worse, as well as the associated chronic back pain. It is unreasonable that for the warranty to be considered, sagging must exceed 1 1/2" --- AND THIS IS UNDER NO LOAD. Our bed sags much, much more when laying on it. How can they measure the performance UNDER NO LOAD, or without any weight on it? Finally got an independent claims agent out to the house last week -- 3 years later! Sagging measured only 1" (without load), claim has been denied by S&F. Next options? Throw the bed away and flush $2, 500 away. Prior to this, had great luck with Sealy beds for past 30 years. This is not a company that I want to do business with in the future. Sad that there is no recourse, and that we must shell-out more cash for a new product. Any recommendations on additional options to get retribution? Hiring an attorney seems senseless from a time and money perspective. What is a consumer to do?

A mattress that you cannot FLIP OVER will last about 4 - 5 years; less if you weigh over 200 pounds. That's why they only finish 'em on one side. Sells more mattresses. If you think I'm kidding, let's see what you wind up doing in the next 3 months.
I only buy bargain basement mattresses that I plan to discard in 3 or 4 years (even though I only weigh 165 pounds). Name brand mattresses aren't any different for the reason stated above. Save that extra money for pillows, which likewise are programmed to flatten out in a couple years. The bedding business has made prudent use of MBA's and the consumer foots the bill.
