Storm Smart Building Systems Non responsive

Non responsive. On 7/7 I ordered and gave a deposit for new hurricane impact double doors with sidelight and an automatic roll down screen. I was given a 9 week turn around. Its been 16 weeks. I have contacted Storm Smart 10 times to get an update. They have not returned any of my calls. I called today and was transferred again to a no name voicemail. I just want an update on when I can expect me doors.

6/2 5 Weeks and I have not yet received an invoice, receipt of any kind of accounting for the monies I have paid for installation of windows from Storm Smart. April 29 windows were installed, minus one window that was the incorrect size, this window will be installed in December when I return to Fort Myers, so I was told. I gave the installer a check that has been cashed. I have called and e-mailed multiple people and departments and have received no response. Thus far I have paid $7,871.45 on my account, the total of the project is $8,871.45. I was told to hold $1,000 until the last window is installed. Inspection by the County can't take place until all windows are installed. I am concerned that if I can't get a receipt for work done thus far what will happen if there is a problem that should be covered by warranty . It seems to me that communication between the departments are nil. The company is very busy with new contracts but existing customers are ignored.

Complaint if for unfinished installation of storm shutters and poor customer service/product knowledge. Signed contract in the amount of $12,125.00 on 1st September for installation of storm shutters on hour house. Storm Smart had visited property to take all measurements etc. prior to sending out contract. I paid a deposit of $4001.00 on day contract was signed. Was originally told that installation would be early December . Did not hear back from Storm Smart until early January advising installation would be on the 5 January . 2 days prior to installation Dominic (our sales rep) called to say that they would need to put a motorized opener on one of our sliding doors as it was too big for a manual wind that was originally agreed to. He said it was their error and that StormSmart would cover the cost of the electrician and I would have to pay $500 for the motor. I told him I was not willing to do that as it was StormSmarts error in not knowing their product and catching this before they sent the contract out. Dominic agreed and said they would cover the full cost to make this change. Installation took place on the 5th January, however, yet another incorrect measurement and SS not knowing the product (which Dominic said was a new product and agreed they should know their product better) made it impossible to install the storm shutter on one of our front windows. The installer said the best option was to put plastic removable shutters on both front windows so that they were uniform. So he left with the job unfinished, with two windows with no shutters, none of the finishing pieces installed on the shutters that were put up. He said someone would be in touch with me. NOTE: I paid the remainder of the balance of $8,124.00 as requested on the day of installation. I waited quite a few days and heard nothing. Finally I called Dominic on the 12th January and told him I was extremely unhappy with the errors Stormsmart had made, lack of customer service, inadequate knowledge of the product that was being installed and he said he would put in a change order for the front windows. To date, I have heard nothing from StormSmart on the status. I've spoken to the sales department and permits department whom said they would get back to me with a status and have heard nothing. I also called Dominic, the sales rep, and left a voice message with no returned call. I've left numerous voice messages at the office, sent an email from their website and to date, not one response back. I have never worked with a company that has such bad customer service and communication. One month later we are sitting here with an incomplete installation along with the fact that we can not apply for an insurance reduction as the product is unfinished and needs to be approved by the county before I can apply for an insurance discount.

I paid a deposit for two windows on 10/23 and my windows have not been installed. My invoice is I-XXXXXXX. I received a quote from Storm Smart prepared by Jesse W. on 10/20. The quote was for 2 windowsSmartView Max SH 176s. (note there was no specification for replacement or new construction) including permit and installation for a total of 2172.00. I paid a deposit of 663.00 using Visa Debit on 10/23 towards that quote to commence the job. Around 12/21 I received a call from Storm Smart that the windows would be installed the next day. I never saw anyone. I did not call Storm Smart right away because of Christmas. After Christmas I called and was finally told that the windows had been made incorrectly. They had fins instead of flanges. I have talked a few times to Jesse W. and he never returns my calls. He says the windows are being remade. He implied that old glass would be used with new frames. I don't want patched up windows. I have searched online for my permit with Storm Smart and cannot find one. I would like to see proof that one was pulled. Unbelievably on 2/12 I received a final bill for the job. The invoice is I-XXXXXXX. I called Accounts Receivable who assured me that the bill would be "pushed back" a couple of months. I emailed Mike D. about this and have had no reply. I sent him a picture of my old windows from 1960 and invited the company to come and look at them. I would like this resolved. What a nightmare of a company.

My shades were installed 3 years ago. Two months ago my shades stopped working because there is a piece of pvc that has come off the motor and now it is stuck in my motor and I cannot raise my shades. I have called them and they have promised me for 8 weeks they would get someone out to me and no one has come and they just keep saying the same thing over and over.

Storm Smart Building Systems I had $9000 worth of storm smart electric hurricane shades installed 2 years ago

I had $9000 worth of storm smart electric hurricane shades installed 2 years ago. They are under warranty and do not function completely anymore. I have been contacting the company for the last 3 months and received no replies. I have left voice messages as well as filling out their service forms. Never receive a reply from them. It seems they are great when attempting to get your business but after getting your money they want nothing to do with you. I just want them to honor their products and at least return a call

They are wrinkled and look horrible. Contacted the company and was told they all look like this. I replied that none on their website or shown by sales person look like mine. Storm Smart said their CEO would come out but he did didn't keep 2 appointments. Asked the company repeatedly to either fix or replace the screens. No reply. Don't know what else to do. Poor customer service, poor communication, poor to no follow up

Storm Smart never completed the project that we paid to have installed. The installer at the time, August 19th, had to leave for a dental appointment. On May 24th we signed a contract with Storm Smart through their sales rep Joshua P. in the amount of $9,460.00 for two Storm Catcher Rolldowns ( motorized ) and one window screen. After 3 months and 4 cancellations on their part they were finally installed. The installer, Jon, indicated that he needed to be back in Ft Myers for a dental appointment and had to leave by 2:30. At 2:30 he left and said the someone would be by to finish putting on the trim and caulking. After numerous calls to Joshua and the service department, no return calls were forthcoming. At this point I don't expect any. This company is horrible on customer service. Promises are made to return call and never kept. These are from every employee involved in this sale and installation, customer service, installation, Al M. and especially Joshua. We paid out $9,400 and they never finished the project and now one of the screens gets stuck on the way down. The contract number on this sale is *** signed on May 24th. Horrible customer service and now they won't finish the project.

Signed a contract for impact windows and sliding doors on 4/2. Paid 50% deposit. Installation on 7/6. Problems still not resolved 10/28. On 7/4 I was informed by the installer of my impact windows that the family room sliding doors did not fit. They were too short so he filled the gap at each end with planks of wood and left. I could see daylight through the gaps! Many calls to various people at StormSmart went unanswered so on 8/11 I emailed the owner Brian R.. He asked Mike D. to call me. Two days later no one had called so I again wrote to R.. Mike called and referred me to the window department and Matt Pike who informed me that he was new at the job so would have to look into my case and call me back. He did not so I called again and left a message. StormSmart appears to be a company in chaos and devoid of any notion of what customer service entails. Everybody has voice mail on and very seldom return calls. On 8/31 I emailed R. again asking if my new sliders and hardware had even been ordered. Their response was to send me a demand for the final payment of $25,674. After being given the run around for weeks I spoke to Matt P. who told me that the new sliding doors had arrived but no hardware, but he was too busy moving offices and organizing his installers to call the manufacturer. Told me he would get back to me, which he didn't. My calls to him went straight to voice mail as usual. So I again emailed R. telling him that the delay in rectifying my sliding doors was about to cost me financially as it would be delaying the installation of my new floor. Also the complete lack of courtesy and professionalism by his management staff was causing me great stress. On 10/6 my sliding doors were installed. They were not correct. I signed a contract for 5 panels & they installed 6, which meant they had to put in an extra wide track which is not acceptable to me. The whole installation is a mess. I got no response from anyone when I called for an explanation, so I emailed R. on 10/6. No response from anyone at StormSmart, so on 10/12 I sent another email to R. asking why 6 panels had been installed instead of the 5 wider doors specified on my proposal and contract. After calling several times I was eventually told that StormSmart met with the manufacturer at my home and they would replace the 6 panels with 5 but they would not replace the wide track. This is not acceptable to me. On 10/21 I sent another email to R. asking for a date when the new sliders would be installed and telling him that the wide track was not acceptable. Sent photos of the sloppy workmanship. Also informed him that the Collier County inspector did not pass the other windows installed by StormSmart. I also received another demand for the final payment. I am beyond stressed after a nightmare that has been going on for 4 months! On 10/26 Mike D. called me to see how things were going with my windows! I told him and he said he would check and call me back, which he did not. On 10/28 I called him and asked him for an update. He said he didn't know and put me through to the window department - another voice mail. Left my message but true to form no one called me back. If you need stress free impact windows StormSmart is not the company to use.

Storm Smart Building Systems Our screen is broken and they have not contacted me to replace it after many attempts to get information

Our screen is broken and they have not contacted me to replace it after many attempts to get information. Also, impact windows never went in. We had a hurricane screen put in. After about 4 weeks, it broke. I called and they sent someone out. They said it needed replaced. Never heard back. I called, they said nothing on file. They said someone would call me back. No one did. I called again. Told operations manager in Naples would call me. Never did. We want our screen replaced asap. Will not pay invoice until we have a working product. Also in July ordered impact windows. Was told 8-10 weeks. It is now January--6 months later. I have called at least 5 times for an update. No one ever calls me back.

Storm Smart Building Systems On March 8 I reached out to my sales rep at Storm Smart

On March 8 I reached out to my sales rep at Storm Smart. I had recommended their product to a neighbor, who ultimately used Storm Smart's services. As part of doing business with them, we are supposed to receive a referral fee. On March 8th, I was checking to see when I would get the fee. I was informed that the neighbor had not given Storm Smart my name, but that they would add it to that contract and I would receive the fee. I do not know what the referral fee is supposed to be, but I do know I was promised a fee for this referral. It is now July 4th and after numerous emails (including to the former CEO), I have not received my referral fee. I am attaching the email correspondence for you to review. You will see that I have been extremely patient in waiting for the fee that has been promised to me.

Storm Smart Building Systems We have a contract with Storm Smart for shutters

We have a contract with Storm Smart for shutters. Installed and inspected OK, 100% paid but they won't finish trimming. Contract #XXXXX for Storm Catcher shutters was signed on 6/30. The representative is Nick M. . Installation had some issue but was completed OK. The job was inspected for construction and electrical by Collier County and all was OK. The next step is called 'punch out' and is scheduled after the County tells Storm Smart all passed. A Storm Smart tech came with a stepladder to finish a second floor lanai! He quickly left, saying we would be contacted to schedule the completion. There has never been any call. The inspection was completed 9/23. Today is 11/04. I have contacted the sales rep who tried in vain to have the job finished by "Nicky" the scheduler. I have left at least three phone messages for "Nicky" and received no response. Perhaps I am now being ignored out of spite but regardless, Storm Smart has a contractural obligation to contact us about finishing the job and then actually finishing the job.

Storm Smart Building Systems Contract administrator's failure to respond to two emails and a phone call requesting estimated installation date

Contract administrator's failure to respond to two emails and a phone call requesting estimated installation date. $14624 contract for storm screens signed June 19 with completion in 7-9 weeks. Eight weeks passed, HOA and county permitting approval received. No response from SS contract administrator to emails sent on August 11, August 13, and a August phone call requesting estimated installation date. No response. Called SS sales office, spoke to Bill who promised someone would call within 48 hours. That did not happen. On August 17 sent a letter to Brian R., SS Executive Officer re: lack of customer service. No response. Did receive second phone call from Bill who promised a response in 24 hours. That did not happen. In my emails, correspondence, and phone calls, I explained that with the current national health crisis I can understand installation delays or uncertainties, that's not my main concern, but the complete ignoring of a customer's inquiry is my concern. We are previous SS customers, 7 years ago, are are amazed at the total lack of concern for customer service. Subsequent online research indicated many recent SS customers are not only experiencing complete lack of customer service, dismissiveness, but also product and installation difficulties. Based upon our pre-installation service, we cannot recommend Storm Smart of Fort Myers any more.

Storm Smart Building Systems The company has failed to honor its warranty on a 17 foot wide storm screen that doesn't descend and hence is worthless

The company has failed to honor its warranty on a 17 foot wide storm screen that doesn't descend and hence is worthless. On July 2, we entered into a contract with Storm Smart Building Systems, Inc., 6182 Idlewild Street, Fort Myers, FL 33966 for the installation of eight large motorized roll down screens for hurricane protection (Contract #XXXXX; Change Order #XXXXX). The total price was $32,700. A deposit of $10,791 was made by means of a credit card (AMEX) at the signing of the contract. The remaining $21,909 was paid by means of a credit card (AMEX) on 9/12. The installation work of Storm Smart was completed on 9/12, and the final inspection by Collier County occurred on 10/8. The product name of the screens is Storm Catcher Wind Abatement Screen System. In early May , we started having a problem screen #8 (about 17 feet wide). It descended about 2 feet on one side and one foot on the other and then stopped. Two technicians came out to look at the screen and concluded that it should be replaced. It was scheduled to be replaced on 5/11, well within the one-year warranty period. That morning we were informed that the replacement hadn't been manufactured yet. It was finally replaced on 6/16. Since then we have continued to have the same problem, initially off and on and then consistently. I was unable to get a return call from the company and finally called John E., the Territory Manager, who made the sale to us. He contacted a person named Samantha at the company who called my cell phone very early on the morning of 11/13. Unfortunately, the phone was switched to vibrate and I didn't hear the call. I spotted the message several days later and called Samantha on three different days during the following two weeks. On each occasion there was no answer, and I left voice mail messages requesting a return call on my landline. (I left the landline number and repeated it twice.) I got none. On 11/30, I sent an e-mail to Mr. E. summarizing the above. He said that he would contact Samantha and she would follow up. She did in fact call and said that the technicians would be at our house on the morning of 12/7. On the morning of Monday 12/7, a man called to say that he was scheduled to come to our house but couldn't do so because the man he was scheduled to work with was having a day care problem. Samantha called to reschedule for the morning of 12/9. On the morning of 12/9 a man called to say that he was scheduled to come to our house but couldn't because the man he was scheduled to work with had a sick child. Samantha called and "guaranteed" that the technicians would be at our house for their first call on Friday 12/11. Not only did they not show but no one even had the courtesy to call. On Sunday 12/13 I again wrote an e-mail to Mr. E. indicating what had (or hadn't) occurred. On Tuesday 12/14 (just now) I received a call from Samantha saying that I would receive a call from her manager (Kenny Y.), who was not then in the office. That is the status as of now.

Storm Smart Building Systems The contract is unfulfilled

The contract is unfulfilled. The job is not complete. The contractor appears disinterested in fulfilling its obligations to a homeowner. I am concerned when, and if, city approval for the installation of the Storm Smart system will occur regarding contract #XXXXX Storm Smart is not demonstrating that it is a professional business that works to both resolve issues as well as develop appropriate actions to respond to a customer complaint. Please see the timeline below to appreciate the level of dissatisfaction and concern that exists today. 1. January 1 - Contract executed (1st page only, Attachment 1) 2. February/March timeframe - Installation due (4 to 6 weeks after contract execution/Attachment 1 Page 2) 3. May 23 - Actual installation date (Attachment 2) 4. September 30 - Expiration of original city of Cape Coral inspection permit (Attachment 3) 5. October 12 - Storm Smart submits request for 90-day extension (Attachment 4) 6. October 22 - Inspectors determine installation fails to satisfy code I am not providing the multiple dates that involved contact with Storm Smart to identify an installation date or an inspection date. During this period of time, there are several phone calls to Storm Smart between March and May to enquire on an installation date as well as a date for the initial inspection. Equally, once installation was finally complete in May, the lack of a definitive response from Storm Smart to identify when a city inspection would occur was also both frustrating and time consuming. If you need these dates as well, I can provide them. The city of Cape Coral code inspector came to the property on Oct 22, 2020. The inspector indicated that Storm Smart did not provide the correct engineering data for the project. Thus, the city inspector was not able to complete his effort to issue a valid permit inspection. After the city inspector's decision on Oct 22, I called the following day to Storm Smart. In that conversation I learned several things: 1. The Storm Smart representative assigned to manage our contract was no longer in that position and presumably no longer with Storm Smart. I suppose this could explain why the city inspection took over four months to occur (May 23 to Oct 22 2020). While an inspector did review the installation, the inspector did not issue a completed job permit as the job failed to satisfy code standards. 2. City inspectors determined that the "Storm Catcher Rolldown Executive" exceeds the length for code. The city is requiring Storm Smart to submit photographs as well as engineering documentation to substantiate appropriate design, manufacture, and installation. 3. There is no timeframe for the actions necessary by Storm Smart to satisfy city requirements; thus, the permit extension that is in effect today lasting for 90-days can expire requiring further delay. I also want to comment on the entry on the city of Cape Coral permit form, Extension Request Form, that reflects the "Payment Method." As you can see on the form itself, there is an "X" in the "Escrow" box There is no escrow involved in this business transaction between homeowner and Storm Smart. At this point, I ask that ComplaintsBoard.com work with Storm Smart to resolve the primary issue at hand, which is to gain the city of Cape Coral approval for the installation of the Storm Smart system. Secondly, I believe it appropriate for a senior Storm Smart representative to involve themselves in this situation both to identify a solution as well as a level of customer service that is absent presently.
