I have worked there now 4 weeks as a sales person. The store is new to Tempe AZ since Jan 29th 2010. We were all told (over 100 sales people hired) that the salary was 10.00 per hour at 30 hours a week. (only open Fri, Sat and Sun) that the average person in the other stores made 80-100k. What a scam, and waste of time. Not to mention that it's totally not true. They do get volumes of people, but the sales people are still running over each other. And the customers are always asking "how many sales people are in this place?" Crazy
I guess it was a tell tale sign of a total waste of time when it took them 3 weeks to pay us our first pay check. They had the nerve to tell us our incorrect paychecks would be taken care of and not to ask again. Which all of us sales people quietly asked each other just to hear another "no, I did'nt get paid." Then once paid out, they were wrong again with no true date to be taken care of.
The pay period is Sunday to Saturday, paid weekly but you must sell $20, 000.00 per week (3 day period) in order to make your 1000.00 per week or so which is totally impossible with 80-100 sales people on the floor. And Friday and Sunday are totally slow days so again. Just not happening.
I will post more on this company soon, but for now. I am cutting my losses and searching for a REAL sales position. Dont fall for this nonsense sales position. It's a total waste of time and energy.
Please post more if you live in Tempe Arizona and sell for THE DUMP. It is exactly that.

I have had such a bad time with this miserable company as a customer. I spent 5 hours picking out furniture to redo my whole living room and kitchen. In this time I had to fax paperwork to the store to be approved for their 24 months no payments no interest offer and they approved me for exactly that. that offer is called an x24 offer to the employees of that store. I signed all the paperwork stating I had 0 payments and 0 interest for 24 months, and took the area rugs I had selected to my car. I later received a call saying I wasn't approved for the x24 offer but the w24 which is 24 equal payments over 24 months with no interest. still a good deal but not what I wanted so I canceled the order completely and told them to write up the rugs on a new contract and I would pay cash for them. I didn't want to drive 50 minutes back to the store just to hand them their stuff back because they cant honor their contracts. Not only did they not honor their contract, they didn't cancel it either and went on to try to deliver the furniture to me when I wasn't home (according to "the dump" and my neighbors). Now "the dump" is sticking me with the bill for almost 6k worth of furniture that was supposed to be canceled, and trying to make me make payments on it when I was supposed to have no payments no interest in the first place... I never signed a delivery slip nor did I sign any agreement other than the one that I signed in the store for 0 payments 0 interest for 24 months. How did they get a new contract with me agreeing to buy these products from them on a totally different finance structure? Your guess is as good as mine but I can tell you it wasn't legally.. Avoid this store at all costs. They may have deals on furniture but you could end up like me getting bounced back and forth between the store the main office in Virginia, the finance company, the delivery company and the police trying to sort out a simple furniture sale... btw its been since 5/28/10 that this took place and it still isn't resolved
I am an ex-supervisor of the Floor Crew at "The Dump". I recently quit due to unpaid wages from 6 months ago! This store not only creates unhappy customers, but adds to its HORRIBLE reputation by creating unhappy employees as well. In March of 2010 I was owed 30 hours of pay in which I did not receive due to the time clocks not working correctly. Please remember, this was almost 3 months after the store opened. Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't time clocks be working flawlessly by the time the store opens?!?!? Now keep in mind at 12.00$ an hour, this is very useful money, seeing as I was grossly under paid as it was. This company has a surveillance system covering every square inch of the store for loss prevention. It is also used for employees that vandalize. Couldn't even count how many times a worker was fired or disciplined due to accidentally dropping furniture! Accidents happen... getting back to my point... if they can use this technology to fire workers, then why couldn't it be used to prove I worked the 30 hours they denied to pay me. They even went as far as telling me "you've been paid". But upon asking for proof, I was told I would not receive any more help and to basically go away. I had all documentation proving such. Still, refused help by HR. After waiting 6 long months, kinda like the consumers that buy from the store, NOTHING was done, so I quit. I have since filed a claim with the Department of Labor and WILL get my much needed money. Whether you are an employee or a customer, please stay away from this horror story of a company that will not last long with this treatment!
I totally agree with this complaint. I was shafted for purchasing a damaged ottoman. Both the sales person and the person checking outgoing items at the front door noticed it was completely ripped under the bottom. I didn't notice it until I arrived home and tried to explain that to the store. They refused to as they said "accept the item back -- that ALL sales are final." I returned it and left it at the store anyway and told them I would argue to reverse this charge on my Visa card. Well, the bank refused since they make you sign final sale documents upon purchasing. About the item I returned, they proclaim they can't find it and therefore, they have both my item AND the $375.00.
I would like to offer a suggestion to all complainants listed herein, that we get together and hold a joint media event regarding this store. Maybe they can be embarrassed publicly because they are preying on the public.
Maybe return all of their furniture in front of the store along with a poop spreader.
how do we do that? I want to join in! they are trying to charge me with a class 3 felony and they are not going to win it. they say the drivers even id'd me at my house yet the lp manager (loss prevention) sent the video footage of me to the delivery guys before the police did their line up and the delivery guys said only my motorcycle was in my car port yet i was home with my baby mama and my child. yet my car wasnt there.. how would we all be home yet my ONLY car not be there? LYING SCAMMERS. we need to shut them down hard
