I reserved and paid for a golf cart for a rental in Sept. 2010. When I got the cart in March of 2011 I needed it for 1 week. The golf cart I received was dirty, slow, and bounced up & down while riding. I took it home and then returned it the next day asking for another cart. No such luck. I was told no other carts were available. Sue, the so called customer service person, has a tendency to say " to be honest with you" in every sentence, made up stories of why she couldn't accommodate my request. She said call me the next day and check with her. I said, can't you call me as I'm the customer and I am not happy. I'm too busy she said. So, I called 3 times the next day to contact her. She ignored all my calls and never returned them. I finally got in touch with her 3 days later and said I want to return this cart 2 days early. She said come on in and we will work something out. I returned the cart and told her that it was a piece of junk and that for a rental/sales business you should be ashamed to expect your customers to rent something as bad as this cart. I asked for some compensation due to returning the cart early and she said it would costs me more money because I had a weekly rate and she said she could charge me a daily rate, which would now cost me an additional $33.00. I said you must be nuts and I am shock that your statement came out of your mouth.
Rather than get in a argument with this person who could care less about the customer, I left the store. I did not pay the $33.00
So, advice to all who go to The villages Golf Cart Man in Lady Lake, Fl. for a purchase or renting a golf cart, DO NOT DO IT! There are plenty of excellent rental companies in the area that would not treat you like an idiot and give a rental cart that is road ready.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have had NO problems with Susan and Villages Golf Cart Man is the only rental company that rents street legal models. I have had service on my cart at their shop and rented a street legal cart for over a week. Susan was very helpful and kind and even humorous. I dont know how or what really happened but I do think there is more to the story. Jason was my mechanic and fixed my cart and the cart that i got was decent and was not slow. I would recommend them...
I would not recommend this business under any circumstance. I have visited The Villages over the last 10 years and have never had as much trouble with any of the rental/repair businesses. My parents have been trying to have their golf cart repaired for the last few months. Jason is their mechanic and seems incompetent. He consistently makes promises he cannot keep and each time the story is another part melted or went bad; I do not trust anything he says. Rick appears to be genuinely concerned about the company's reputation and was initially helpful. I was supposed to get a call from Susan, but that never happened. There are many mechanics in The Villages, I would highly discourage you from getting involved in this company.
Not only do I believe this man, but my husband worked for the scammers who build the carts in Lake Panasoffkee. They are horrible people who want to do nothing but rip you off. I have heard out of the bosses mouth to just make it work, who cares if it is right or wrong. Maybe this is why the company says it is closed in Lake Panasoffkee online, when it clearly is still open! Trying to hide from all the horrible dirty things they do to "make the carts work" my husband was having no more part of any of it. He quit!
I listen to people most of the time but when I hear things like X employee wife then I wonder the validity of such a claim. Taking everything into account I visited the company and met the owner. He was quite pleasant and with my personal opinion was quite honest with me and made me offer I couldn't refuse. After making a decision to believe people should be a careful process because I have a great custom golf cart and till this day have had no problems and it always a pleasure to deal with Tony and his family. I asked about Jason the mechanic... he is no longer there. So I'm thinking the wife was mad he lost his job.
