I recently had a pool constructed by Tropical Pavers and Stone, LLC. However, during the construction process, the inspection was not carried out. As a result, the pool was completed without the necessary inspection and the required engineering approval. I still have my final payment on hold, but my loan company is eager to release it. Without the final inspection, the pool cannot be considered part of the property.

In early December, while installing a pool for our neighbors, a worker from Tropical Pavers and Stone, LLC accidentally knocked over our fence with an excavator. It was just one worker doing the job. We saw it happen from our back porch and tried to talk to the worker, but he didn't speak English and couldn't give us any information about the company or his boss. We quickly got in our car and drove around the block to find a truck with a company logo or speak to the homeowner for information on how to get the fence repaired. However, when we arrived at the house just a few minutes later, the worker had already left. There was no sign of the worker, the truck, and the excavator was left leaning against our fence. We immediately filed a police report to document the incident and took several photos of the scene.

The next day, we informed the homeowner about what had happened, and they provided us with the company name. Unfortunately, we discovered that the company goes by two different names, "Tropical Pavers and Pools LLC" and "Tropical Pavers and Stone," as stated on their website. We have been calling them twice a month for the past three months and have left at least six voicemails, but we have not received any response. Nobody has ever answered the phone when we call. We have also reported this to the Sheriff's office to add to our existing report. All we want is to have our fence repaired.

Refund issues. I paid my deposit in July for a pool and screen enclosure. They didn't even file for the permit until 10/8. Two days after I talked to them about canceling because I was told by Carla that it wouldn't happen until January . I have been very patient up to this point because of the Covid. So I asked for my deposit back then but Pedro assured me it wouldn't take that long. Then their guy tries to drop the pool shell off at my house. No one called and told me they were coming. The guy was planning to drag the pool off the truck with a small excavator not even a crane. He wanted to remove my fence or drag it to the opposite side of the house and leave it in the yard. This was around the holidays. Naturally we didn't allow that for fear of him damaging the pool by dragging it. Then he said he'd come back in two weeks with a crane. No show no call. So then a lady came out with a can of orange paint and some stakes and very poorly marked for the pool. The next week a guy from the gas company comes out to mark the gas lines. There is a gas line that runs through the middle of my yard so no pool unless I have the line moved. Why are we finding this out in December? This should have been the first thing they did. Would've saved time and money. Also, although they filed for the permit, they never paid it. I then told them that moving the gas line would be too much so I would just cancel the job all together and get my deposit back. Carla told me I would have to pay for the engineering but it wouldn't be $1000.00. She also informed me that I would have to pay for Pedro's Commision. I asked why I was paying commission on a job that didn't get done. She informed that she would look into how much I was getting back and call me back. She never called me back. I left several messages. I finally had a man answer the phone who sounded like his mouth was full of food. He also wondered why we were just finding out in December about the gas line. He said he'd leave a message for Carla. Again, she didn't call back. When you do talk to her she gives you a ridiculous excuse. So then about a week ago I got a refund check for $2048 from my $5000 deposit with an invoice that was not itemized like I requested, it was a lump charge for approx $2952. I've been trying to call Carla. I've left three messages. I want a copy of the engineering plans for the pool and the screen enclosure. I paid for them, I entitled to a copy. She won't call back.
