atm services failure/intentionally locked every time on holiday
Sir,
I live in Luddan, Vehari. In my luddan town we have only one ATM by UBL. The most embarrassing and idiotic thing is that on every sunday on 31st or 1st date of each month I have seen ATM is out of cash or door is locked while ATM is working. We can not do anything cause they do this unethical act on off day. So we can not ask to anybody. Worst banking i have ever seen. I'm gonna close my account tomorrow. I think there is no one to ask them. There are no rules of banking.

I visited your ubl branch Attock twice to open my account but they refused to open account while I was having my original documents with photocopies which were ( CNIC, student card, Fathe' s salary slip copy, utility bill of the current month). According to statebank policy I have to provide my source of income for KYC and I was having that. First day they said nadra's link is down and we can't do biometric so I thought it's ok there can be technical issue but on the second day they did biometric infront of me and refused to open account without any valid reason . I am here just let you know kindly teach some etiquette to your staff with sense of job responsibility so that poor people couldn't be their victim just because your staff don't want to jeopardise their self by fulfilling their JDs. Your staff is Pathetic and too unprofessional.i won't ever advise someone to go to ubl .

Misconduct & unethical practices in the bank
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been a client of your bank for the past two years and a holder of a Salary Account.
I visited your branch that is located in main bazar Sahiwal (0075) for the purpose to withdraw cash from ATM machines. ATM machine was not in working condition, I entered in relevant branch to ask for help from authorized or responsible person. The behavior of that person wasn't bearable. She openly challenged me to make complaint against her whom and where I want to do. She seems like unprofessional and unethical person. I am really disappointed to see the unethical practice in the Bank. I want to submit my complaint to inquire the issue.

Bad service
I went to the branch of ubl then I see that they have only one cashier in the branch also he is very slow for me just to receive the money it tooks me one and a half hour becuase of the managing services od ubl.
When I complain about the service they say we have only one staff so we cannot do any thing for this.

Lack of staff
I visited the UBL Chanda Qila Branch for cash deposit in a friends account on 26-03-2019 at around 2.30pm. I had to wait 40 minutes before i got my turn. The branch is ineffective in its services due to its lack of staff and lack of advanced ticketing system. Only one person is managing the counter and each and every person has to wait almost half an hour for his turn. The same person is also managing the ATM and has to leave the counter for that as well.
I called the UBL helpline and the person there just told me that it would be due to the policy of that branch. And that there is nothing more that they can do. They can also not file for any complaint regarding this issue as well.
Please upgrade the capacity of the branch so that two counters are workable at all times for the convenience of the people. Also please introduce the advanced ticketing system so that people do not have to flock to line up and could just wait for their turn at the counter as per their ticket number.

Within city cheque clearance
Reference to attached check, evident that deposited onThursday, March 21, 2019 at 12:30pm.
As per banking clearing standard times the same cheque was supposed to be cleared by clearing agency on Friday March 22, 2019 before evening and account was to be credited, but as usual poor services of branch have proved once again and this still awaited till this time and been delayed and now weekend.
Kindly refer any good reason for this delay and assign responsibility of UBL employees which caused delay in receipt of my fund which was in emergency needed by me during this weekend.
Please note that such irresponsible attitude is practice of your staff to delay such clearings. I Can refer more cases also.

When i went to the UBL Kohat road Peshawar Branch, the branch manager said that the online form is not available today in this branch, and also said that you are submit the amount in another UBL Branch.

On sunday 24/02/2019 I made a trx of 30000 from atm of ubl bank college doraha branch mansehra and I counted notes from one side then I came home and I counted again and found one note of 1000 rupee is cut from one side then I went to bank today and officer name idrees did not change the note and his behavior is so bad
My point is that if a note is faulty why thy put it into the atm machine.
Unethical / unprofessional staff behaviour
It is requested you to look at this issue that your branch located at Abdullah Haroon Road creates problem whenever we gave them cheques for online cash. On 18th of January 2019 i had taken a token from the machine at 05:18PM as an evidence I took my token back from the teller which was sitting on counter#2. I have received the cheque from my electronic dealer as a payment of my company. In the branch timing all tellers were busy in counting bank cash while customers were waiting for their turn. On Counter#1 lady was serving the token#139 and when she was free from the customer, lady teller was also left for counting cash. I was waiting for almost 45 mins and when I got my turn, teller says signature was not matched with specimen signature. I have requested the teller that go through CBC or email this cheque to the concern branch for verification. He said we can't do that signature differ from the specimen signature. I said this was not the way to treat a customer to wait while you all are busy in counting bank cash and people were sitting for their turn. I was waited and wasted my 45 mins. I said I'll launched my complaint to customer service and he said "Karado complain" I was so disappointed with the attitude of your staff. I look forward that you investigate this issue and take my complain positively.

I am feeling agnostic to write these complaint lines against the bank where i spent almost a decade of my professional life and never thought of complaining about it but with very heavy heart i hereby submit my complaint as follows;
Almost a month back i was contacted by HR of my bank i am working with at present claiming that my "Experience Letter" is not on their record file and as they are in the process of annual appraisals finalization therefore, they asked to provide them the same. Following their lead and sensing the urgency of the situation i, within no time, contacted the HR of UBL and requested them for the same to which i was allotted a request No. [protected] on 07-12-2018 and told that it will be provided with 7 days of TAT. Since then i am calling the UBL HR department on daily basis asking for the resolution of my request but each day i get the same reply, "we have sent a reminder to the settlement department for the issuance of the same but no one is responding from there" I told everyone that i am expecting promotion this year and if i do not get this letter it might hurt my appraisal but it all went in vain. Finding no other way to get out of this agony I decided to exercise my right of lodging a complaint, hoping that it will work and i would get my Experience Letter soon to end this pain full process of issuance. You are requested to please arrange to issue me the same and oblige.

Pathetic customer service. They really need to train their ill mannered customer service reps who are in charge of "customer care" on their helplines. I recently moved to Pakistan from the UK, so had to call their customer service number to get my debit card activated for online shopping. I very politely asked for information from the customer service rep (named Naeem Zafar, this guy seriously needs to be fired). The guy had absolutely no etiquettes. I said I am new to the country, could you kindly give me some information on how to activate online shopping etc. The guy retorted back immediately in an absolutely condescending manner, so rudely that "he doesn't care I just moved to Pakistan". I was in total shock at his utter lack of basic manners and courtesy. I was only trying to be polite to him by saying that I am sorry I am unaware of basic banking procedures, so would appreciate if he could briefly give me some information. But the guy totally went off on me. I was flabbergasted, I asked him to please be polite, but he was adamant and kept going on rudely that he doesn't care where I am from or what I know and what I didn't. I can't believe how any bank can hire such people for customer facing jobs, and why they don't bother training them. Extremely disappointed by UBL. You guys really need to step up your customer service game. I have a big account with you. Now I am very seriously considering switching my bank.

Reinstatement of retrenched employees

Reinstatement of ubl retrenched officers
Addressing to all concern government authorities, independent judiciaries, controlling departments, human rights officials and associations,
On 11th oct 1997, united bank management without any provocation and permission from government unilaterally terminated 5416 officers and executives perforce who were either promoted or inducted in bank service on or after 01.10.1991. No law or service rules permits bank for mass scale termination still lifo (last in first out) uk methodology applicable from date of employment was wrongly applied on majority of such officers and executives who were promoted from 1.1.93 onward.
National assembly of pakistan on 6th october 2010 passed "sacked employees reinstatement bill 2010" for providing relief to the persons who were appointed in a corporation service or autonomous or semi-autonomous bodies or otherwise in gop service from the period november 1, 1993 to november 30, 1996 and were dismissed, removed or terminated from service from november 1, 1996 to december 31, 1998. Clause 2 (b) & clause (7) those employees who were removed, terminated, dismissed or given forced golden hand shake during the period from the 1st day of november, 1996 to the 12th day of october, 1999, (both days inclusive) have been reinstated. Clause 4 of the this bill speaks (the provisions of this ordinance shall have effect notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other law for the time being in force or in any judgment of any tribunal or court including supreme court and high court). It is respectfully submitted that the said act is neither conditional nor restricted therefore effectively enforce for the reinstatement of officers and executives terminated perforce in the year 1997 when the bank was controlled and owned by government of pakistan. It is certainly not out of purview of government of pakistan in case some of the government shares were off loaded from ubl on 17.10.2002. Sizeable shares are in public hands as well sbp and gop.
We had submitted our joining report to ubl, as instructed in said bill and also informed to "establishment division, gop" but we are shocked to know by receiving a letter ref:erd/shn/2010 dated: november 30, 2010 stated as bellow:
"this act is not applicable to ubl and therefore your letter under reference being misconceived is hereby file"
Honorable sir, under the above circumstances, submission based on facts and relied upon effective government documents/directives merits your gracious consideration to be admitted and the flimsy arguments, fiction type commentary submitted on false grounds by ubl with ulterior motives may be judged.
Accordingly prayer is made before honorable chief justice of pakistan mr. Justice iftekhar muhammad chaudhry in the best interest of justice that the instant submission of the applicant may be admitted for sou moto action.

During Nawaz Sharif’s second tenure, the management of United Bank Limited retrenched the services of 5, 416 employees unlawfully on October 13, 1997.
Under the prescribed instructions from IMF and the World Bank, the Government of Pakistan planned to downsize the staff in all nationalized commercial banks.
After negotiation amongst the nationalized commercial banks and Ministry of Finance and the Privatization Commission, a scheme namely Golden Hand-shake Scheme was launched in order to complete the process of downsizing the staff.
All banks’ accepted and adopted the Scheme. The management of UBL, however, declined and launched the UBL Retrenchment Scheme 1997 for their staff. Nawaz Sharif knew about it.
Dr Mehboobul Haq, former Finance Minister had protested and stated in the TIME Magazine that this was not only economic murder of 5, 416 employees but also of the nation.
Dr. Mohateer Mohammad, the former PM of Malaysia declared in one of the leading Malaysian News Paper Daily Express that this was not good for the nation of Pakistan. He opined that it would lead to unemployment and poverty will increase.
On October 14, 1997 Nawaz Sharif as PM ordered reinstatement of the retrenched employees with immediate effect during opening ceremony of Motorway but the UBL management refused to comply. Resultantly, the matter remains pending for the past 16 years.
Some facts of the Golden Hand-shake Scheme and the UBL Rretrenchment Scheme1997 are given below:
1- GOLDEN HAND SHAKE SCHEME
This scheme launched by the Government of Pakistan in all nationalized commercial banks in order to complete the process of downsizing staff as per prescribed instructions and tariff of the IMF as soon as possible.
The Government declared that it never dismissed or retrenched any employee in any commercial nationalized banks on the basis of downsizing the staff under this Scheme.
2- UBL RETRENCHED EMPLOYEES-1997
This Scheme was launched only by UBL against the Golden Hand-shake Scheme which was a clear violation by victimization with force. Under it, the employees were paid only 50% share instead of 100% shares which they were entitled to under the other Scheme.
The IMF provided full funds to UBL under the instructions of Ministry of Finance and the Privatization Commission in order to complete the process of downsizing the job properly but bank distributed 50% shares to the retrenched employees, without pension benefits. The rest of the amount was kept by the management of the Bank illegally which is still lying in a Sundry Deposit Account.
Some funds have already been utilized by the new management of the Bank after privatization illegally without getting prior permission from the Government of Pakistan.
Due to this illegal retrenchment, the concerned employees and their families have been financially ruined.
The Government of Pakistan still has ownership rights of 51% share of the Bank as per Agreement executed with the Bestway Group (the new management of the Bank).

Background Info: I had a credit card as well as a BTF / Cashline account with UBL before all this started.
